“Mayday, Mayday, Mayday”: 13 Random Revelations from April, 2018

As we travel the stormy seas on the way to our forthcoming destination, thirteen revelations from April, 2018 are now randomly recorded by this mate as follows:

1.) According to a April 22-24, 2018 Fox News poll of 1,014 randomly chosen registered voters nationwide:  Two-thirds said it is at least “somewhat important” that Mueller’s Russia investigation continues, and “56 percent think it’s likely the special council’s probe will find that Donald Trump committed criminal or impeachable offenses”.

2.)  A recent Quinnipiac poll found that 70% of Democratic voters would like to see impeachment hearings begin if Democrats regain control of the House and Senate.

3.) At a rally in Washington Township, Michigan on Saturday, April 28^th, Trump claimed Republicans will retain the House and Senate in the 2018 midterm elections because of the economy:

‘Jobs are booming and confidence is soaring. All over the world, they’re talking about this success,’ the president crowed.

Since Trump took office, the U.S. economy has added 2.7 million jobs — an average of 181,000 per month — while growth was fastest in counties that gave Trump the most votes, according to a Washington Post analysis of U.S. Labor Department data.

 4.) According to Kiplinger:  Interest rates will continue rising due to “government deficits and an expanding economy with slightly higher inflation”. This means, although the Fed raised rates only once during Obama’s presidency, they have raised rates five times so far since Trump’s election and with two more increases anticipated in June and December of 2018; plus three to four more hikes expected in 2019. If all those occur, then rates will be raised 10-11 times in the 38 months between Trump’s 2016 election win and the start of 2020.

5.) At an engagement over the weekend attended by my family and friends –  I spoke with several Republican voters and NOT ONE had heard of the April 2018 criminal referrals by Congress to the Justice Department and FBI. In fact, when I informed them of the referrals which included James Comey, Hillary Clinton, Andrew McCabe, and others, most thought I was joking; while one politically conservative relative simply told me he was sick of Trump’s twittering.

6.) On April 12, 2018 – James Mattis, the US Secretary of Defense, admitted there was no evidence of the recent chemical attack in Syria; and the lack of proof was also reported to have been confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) last week. It looks like Trump may have bombed Syria for nothing, but it’s okay because Americans don’t really care.

7.) At Saturday’s debauched, even x-rated, White House Correspondents’ Association dinner –  hatred, misogyny, and hypocrisy were celebrated even though some CNN reporters in attendance later said it was uncomfortable, cringeworthy, and harsh. Of course, no one expressed outrage DURING comedian Michelle Wolf’s disastrously devious and disrespectful diatribe. Not even one heckler. Not one.

8.) The Political Left is comprised of bona fide racists who, last week, called rap star, Kanye West, and conservative commenter, Candace Owens, “Uncle Tom, Coon, Uncle Ruckus, and other insults”. Moreover, it is now in vogue for comedians like Stephen Colbert to broadcast fried chicken and crazy negro jokes.

9.) In April, the U.S. Department of Justice continued to cover-up the corruption of the same intelligence agencies that Senator Chuck Schumer once claimed had “six ways from Sunday” at “getting back” at Trump. The collusion of the intelligence agencies against a constitutionally elected president is now a matter of public record and the legal double standards have been exposed for all to see. It appears the Justice Department’s latest strategies are to stall, or comprehensively redact, the release of documents and to ignore deadlines imposed by Congress in the hopes of a Blue Wave this fall carrying, and burying, all of their dirt back into the swamp.

10.) The unprecedented and disgraceful April 9, 2018 raid  of a lawyer currently representing the sitting President of the United States, proves that both the constitution, and attorney client privilege, are now dead in America. It is, perhaps, fitting the raid was the result of a referral from Robert Mueller’s likely illegal special counsel investigation.

11.) Trump’s allies are drowning in legal fees, his pick to lead Veteran’s affairs was forced to withdraw from the nomination process, and his immigration policies remain overturned by federal judges.

12.) The head coordinator for an illegal migrant caravan that is now attempting to invade the U.S. southern border, is originally from Mexico and remains a permanent resident of Minnesota. If the caravan was legitimately seeking political asylum, they would have remained safe within Mexico’s borders; yet they all kept marching north. That means any claims of asylum were always a farce and, although Attorney General Jeff Sessions has called the caravan “a deliberate attempt to undermine our laws and overwhelm our system”, none of its organizers here in America appear to be in any legal jeopardy at this time.

13.) Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) has recently stated that many of the Republicans who have announced their retirement from Congress in 2018, did so for fear of being assassinated by crazed, gun-toting leftists.

Indeed. Transitions are markers to what will pass as our voyage traverses the ocean of time from history to revelations unknown. So stay awake, keep your eyes on the horizon, your hands steady at the helm, and, look for true north to guide some, but not all. Most importantly, keep your life preservers near and dear.

Up and down, round and round it goes; how it ends, we just don’t know. Either the storm will pass or the ship will sink. All aboard and bottoms up. Anchors away.

Splitting California Into 3 States Just Reached An Important Milestone

An initiative to split the state of California into three different states has gathered enough support via signatures to qualify as a ballot measure in November.  This is one important milestone for those who want to break away from the harsh Communist policies of much of the Golden State.

Venture capitalist Tim Draper said backers of what he has dubbed “CAL 3” would submit petitions with more than 600,000 signatures to election officials next week. The initiative needs signatures from 365,880 registered voters – five percent of the total votes cast for governor in the 2014 election – to qualify for the ballot. And according to 10 News, Draper said there’s a lot of support for this.

Breaking the state into three separate states would still require congressional approval. But Draper is hopeful. “This is an unprecedented show of support on behalf of every corner of California to create three state governments that emphasize representation, responsiveness, reliability, and regional identity,” Draper said.

One proposed state would be called California or a name to be chosen by its residents after a split. It would consist of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Benito counties. The second state, Southern California or a name to be chosen by its residents, would consist of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera and Mono counties.    The remaining 40 counties would be part of the state of Northern California or a name chosen by its residents.  Northern California and parts of southern Oregon have often referred to some of the areas as the State of Jefferson – the “51st state” named after the third president of The United States. 

But without congressional approval, no state will be allowed to succeed and gain sovereignty. That hasn’t stopped Draper, however. He said he conceived the initiative out of a belief that “the citizens of the whole state would be better served by three smaller state governments while preserving the historical boundaries of the various counties, cities, and towns.”  And many in the more rural northern counties of California have been disenfranchised for quite some time now.  Their votes are overwhelmingly irrelevant due to the large Communist populations in the big cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Steven Maviglio, a longtime Democratic Party political consultant who was a co-chair of the effort to oppose Draper’s 2014 initiative to split California into six states, told City News Service, “Splitting California into three and creating three new governments does nothing to solve our state’s challenges other than tripling them.” What Maviglio is saying, is that by splitting California, the state will have to split their 55 electoral votes and it’s highly likely half would go to a Republican president, rather than a Democrat in upcoming presidential elections.  For that reason alone, don’t look for the California government to willingly allow this split regardless of the votes.

Politicians care only about power and most people give it to them. Breaking up the state will have some big political losers.  Never be under the assumption that the rich will allow you to vote away their money or that a politician will allow you to vote away their power.

Betrayal: How the REPUBLICANS Are Gutting the Second Amendment

Everyone likes to blame the Democrats for gun control, but here’s a news flash: those of us who fervently believe in the Second Amendment are actually being betrayed by members of the Republican party who are in Congress right now. Bills on the table right now would gut our right to bear arms, and the Congress is controlled by Republicans.

The spending bill that Congress hopes to pass is more than 2200 pages, according to Senator Rand Paul, who was outraged at being given less than a day to read the entire bill. Senator Paul live-tweeted his reading of the bill last night, and it’s a pretty safe bet that nobody else in Congress spent the evening reading it before they vote today.

Shame, shame. A pox on both Houses – and parties. $1.3 trillion. Busts budget caps. 2200 pages, with just hours to try to read it.

How the spending bill affects our Second Amendment rights

In this budget bill are some insidious things that affect our Second Amendment rights.

The bill revives an Obama-era restriction on firearms for senior citizens.

Just before President Obama left office, his administration finalized new regulations banning Social Security recipients from buying a gun if they have trouble managing their finances.

Using the Congressional Review Act, Republicans and two Democrats passed a bill overturning the regulation. But the bill did more than that. It also prevents any future president from reinstituting the ban without new legislative authorization from Congress.

Unfortunately, the spending bill passed Thursday allows the ban to be reinstituted because it reauthorizes the 2007 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Improvement Amendments Act. This act allowed government agencies, not just the courts, to determine if someone is mentally incompetent to buy or possess a gun.

House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, said during testimony late Wednesday that he was “disturbed” that the bill would undo part of Republicans’ good work. But by Thursday morning, the House leadership had decided to go ahead with the measure. (source)

And that’s not all.

The bill funnels $50 million dollars into strict anti-gun organizations, namely the STOP School Violence Act, designed by the Sandy Hook Promise, which advocates extreme gun control.

At the same time, the bill forbids the use of federal money for arming and training school staff. That’s right – our tax dollars will be put to work against us. And representatives that are supposed to be pro-gun are allowing it to happen.

Finally, the bill will authorize the CDC to research “gun violence.” But the CDC has been allowed to research this for years, despite what you see to the contrary from the MSM. In 1996, the Dickey provision prohibited the CDC from using government funds to advocate or promote gun control.” There is no such provision in the current bill.

It isn’t just Democrats who are passing this bill.

This bill has passed the House by a vote of 256-167. The breakdown in the House of Representatives is 238 Republicans and 192 Democrats. If the Republicans were truly looking after our gun rights, as they like to advertise, this bill wouldn’t have passed the House.

Today it will be going before the Senate, where 60 votes will be needed to pass it. The Senate has 51 Republicans and 47 Democrats, which means that if it passes, the “pro-gun” Republicans have betrayed their constituents yet again.

Here’s what happens next:

Thursday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell moved to end debate on the bill, triggering a 30-hour window senators can use to discuss it.

The debate time could be shortened if Paul and other senators unanimously agree to do so but it was unclear how far Paul would go to press his point.

If the whole 30-hour time is used, the earliest the Senate could vote to advance the so-called “omnibus” bill would be 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Senate would then have to wait even longer before taking any final vote to pass it. (source)

If (when) this revolting turn of events occurs and the bill is passed by the Senate, the President will most likely sign it according to White House budget director Mick Mulvaney.

“In order to get the defense spending primarily, (and) all the rest of our priorities funded, we had to give away a lot of stuff that we didn’t want to give away,” Mulvaney said. (source)

And that’s not all.

The spending in this bill is truly obscene. You’d think an American budget would be focused on American interests, right?

Seriously.

If you voted Republican to protect your 2A rights, you were betrayed.

The long and the short of this?

• Who you vote for doesn’t matter.


• Having more Republicans than Democrats in Congress doesn’t matter.


• Our system is broken, and what you think about it doesn’t matter.

As long as our government passes bills with thousands of pages instead of single item bills, the public will continue to be betrayed and deceived. Those who believe that voting Republican will ensure their continued right to protect themselves have been deceived and until we refuse to keep putting these people in office who are there to serve themselves, not their constituencies, we will continue losing our rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

How is voting for the “lesser of two evils” working out for you?

What if we opted not to put any kind of evil in office, not just the lesser one? What if we opted to put the best of our country in positions of power, not just the less horrible of our country?

When are we going to say that we’ve had enough? At the rate we’re going, probably when it’s already too late and our corrupt system has enslaved us to the point that rebellion is futile.

The mainstream media is acting like Senator Rand Paul is a lunatic who is determined to shut down the government, but in reality, Senator Paul seems to be one of the only people in Washington DC who performing his due diligence.

Write to your local Senators and call their offices. (Find the contact info here.) Demand that they vote no on this spending bill.  We have to stop passing policies that haven’t even been read by those voting on them. Lawmaking should not be a game of “Let’s Make a Deal.”

Government shutdowns have happened before and they’re mostly theater. We’ve been perfectly fine without them.

A Majority In New Poll: ‘Deep State Is Manipulating Policy’

The Monmouth University Polling Institute found that 74% of Americans believe that the “deep state” is manipulating public policy unelected and behind the scenes. Only 21% don’t think the deep state exists.

Those numbers are compelling considering the mainstream media’s very obvious attempt to get everyone to believe that the deep state is a figment of the imagination.  The poll also interestingly indicates that those in every single political group, republicans, democrats, and independents, all believe the deep state is manipulating the government. “We usually expect opinions on the operation of government to shift depending on which party is in charge,” Monmouth University Polling Institute Director Patrick Murray said in a statement. “But there’s an ominous feeling by Democrats and Republicans alike that a ‘Deep State’ of unelected operatives are pulling the levers of power.”

The numbers indicate that 31 percent of Republicans and 33 percent of independents reported that they believe a deep state “definitely exists,” while 19 percent of Democrats believe this. Pollsters also found that a majority of those polled, 63 percent, said they were “not familiar” with the term deep state, however. Thirteen percent said they were “very familiar,” while 24 percent said they were “somewhat familiar.”

But that’s not all this poll uncovered about public opinion. A majority of the American public believe that the U.S. government engages in widespread monitoring of its own citizens and worry that the U.S. government could be invading their own privacy. Interestingly, there are no significant partisan differences when it comes to whether or not a person believes their government is spying on them.  57% of independents, 51% of Republicans, and 50% of Democrats are at least somewhat worried the federal government is monitoring their activities. Another 24% of the American public are not too worried and 22% are not at all worried.

“This is a worrisome finding. The strength of our government relies on public faith in protecting our freedoms, which is not particularly robust. And it’s not a Democratic or Republican issue. These concerns span the political spectrum,” Murray.

Another important factor uncovered in the poll is that just over 1-in-5 Americans (22%) feel angry with Washington while the vast majority (59%) feel dissatisfied. Very few express a positive feeling toward DC with just 12% reporting as satisfied and only 4% are happy with the government.

The survey of 803 adults was conducted from March 2 to 5. It has a slim margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

[WATCH] VA Lawmaker’s Speech On Guns Offends Dems, Causes Them To WALK OUT

A Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates has offended a lot of Democrats with his powerful speech on guns that quickly went viral, raking in over 13 million Facebook views since Friday. Nick Freitas finally hit the nail on the head and told gun grabbers the truth, much to their discontent.

The speech laid out the unfortunate history of the left in America. Desiring government control over their lives and the lives of others from the beginning was always designed to harm people, not help them. According to the Daily Wire, Freitas happened to be the man who finally just cut to the chase with Democrats.

“For several days now, some Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates have made public speeches comparing those of us who take our oath to the Constitution seriously, to include the 2nd Amendment, to Nazis and segregationists,” wrote the delegate on Facebook captioning his speech, which he dubbed as his “response” to such attacks.

“It’s really difficult to have an open and honest debate about this […] because members of this body are comparing members of [the Republican] side of the aisle to Nazis,” he said, adding that it was particularly offensive that GOP members were also compared to “segregationists.” Freitas continued saying, “It was not our party that supported slavery, that fought women’s suffrage, that rounded up tens of thousands of Asian Americans and put them in concentrations camps, that supported Jim Crow, that supported segregation, or supported mass resistance — that wasn’t our party, that was the Democrat Party,” he said. “I’d be really appreciative that every time you want to make a powerful point, you don’t project the sins, the atrocities, and the injustices the Democratic Party perpetrated on others onto us,” slammed the Republican.

He also noted the lame talking point that Republicans representatives are “paid off” by the National Rifle Association (NRA). “Why don’t you look at how much Planned Parenthood pays compared to the NRA?” he said. A true conversation, he said, “starts with a certain degree of mutual respect.” Democrats were incredibly triggered by the Republican’s remarks; so much so, that apparently the acknowledgment of the disturbing history of the Democratic Party made them uneasy to the point that they actually cried racism. As reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Delegate, Lamont Bagby said he viewed Freitas’ remarks as racial “dog-whistling.”

“We realize that we live in an ugly political moment. So while we were offended, we were not surprised,” said Bagby. “It should embarrass every member of this body that we have allowed such rhetoric to enter these chambers. Bringing up a very painful past to make a political point is disgusting and poisonous.”

Remember: it’s fine to suggest Republicans are choosing NRA money over saving children’s lives, or branding them as Nazis and segregationists for disagreeing with Democratic talking points, but it is unacceptable — a racial dog-whistle actually — to bring up historical truths about the Party of Slavery. –The Daily Wire

The Daily Sheeple touched on something very similar yesterday in response to leftists believing they are being bullied. The left is now accusing gun owners of bullying when someone corrects a gun grabbers nomenclature. For example, when the term “clip” is used instead of “magazine.”

The mainstream media is now claiming that it’s “bullying” to correct a gun control activist when they use the wrong nomenclature while discussing the guns they know almost nothing about. Apparently, being wrong is perfectly acceptable and it’s “mean” if you educate an indoctrinated fool.

But the problem is that all of those terms actually DO matter and they matter immensely when talking about which things should be and can be banned.  That’s why gun owners correct those who use the terms wrong. And if you still believe that the “AR” in AR-15 stands for assault rifle, your opinion on gun laws is less than relevant.

This isn’t “bullying.”  According to Google, bullying is defined as use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants. No one is using superior strength or influence to intimidate anyone here. It’s nothing more than an attempt to educate the masses who have been indoctrinated with years of mainstream media bias against an inanimate object to the point that they know so little about something they hate so much.–The Daily Sheeple

When we are living at the height of leftist propaganda, it’s nice when one person can stand up and lay out the truth for everyone. Freitas’ comments were met with extreme anger from the left probably because he labeled them accurately and refused to fall victim to their attempts at brainwashing.

“Take The Guns First” – Trump Breaks With Republicans Over Gun-Control Plan

Update: US Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE). a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s comments today on due process and the Second Amendment:

“Strong leaders don’t automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them. We have the Second and due process of law for a reason.

We’re not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the President talked to today doesn’t like them.“

President Trump told a group of lawmakers that they must do something to keep guns away from mentally ill individuals – even if that means raising the minimum age for rifle ownership to 21, Bloomberg reports.

His remarks appeared to contradict a CNN report from earlier in the week, which quoted anonymous White House aides saying Trump would soon walk back his support for raising the age limit.

But on Wednesday, in what the New York Times characterized as a “shocking” break with his Republican Congressional allies, Trump told lawmakers during a televised meeting in the Cabinet Room that easing gun owners’ ability to carry concealed weapons across state lines, a provision of the House-passed gun bill and the NRA’s top legislative priority, should be part of a separate bill, a strategy favored by Democrats. The House bill combining background check provisions with the loosening of concealed carry rules has stalled in the Senate after passing the House. Instead, Trump said he supports the proposal from Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Pat Toomey, R-Pa., which he says is best positioned to pass. Sen. Amy Klobuchar agreed that the Manchin-Toomey bill is a “good place to start.”

“It would be so beautiful to have one bill that everyone could support,” Mr. Trump said as Senator Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California, sat smiling to his left. “It’s time that a president stepped up.”

Per the Times, Trump repeatedly suggested that the dynamics surrounding the gun control debate had shifted, in part, because of his presence in the Oval Office – a remark that earned him cheers from Democrats.

Trump predicted his plan would pass with broad support, suggesting that he plans to win over a sizable chunk of the Democratic caucus.

Trump told his audience that raising the ownership age is “something you have to think about,” Trump said. He added that “people don’t bring it up” because the NRA opposes the policy. Trump had initially claimed that he would convince the NRA to go along with it.

As the Hill pointed out, he also said he supports confiscating guns from mentally ill individuals, a position vociferously opposed by Republicans.

“I like taking the guns early like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida … to go to court would have taken a long time,” Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence.

“Take the guns first, go through due process second,” Trump said.

He also said mentally ill people shouldn’t have guns.

“A lot of people are saying ‘oh you shouldn’t be saying that’,” Trump said. “But I don’t want mentally ill people having guns.”

To be sure, states don’t need to enact the exact same restrictions, Trump said. But “what does have to be the same is the background checks and all of the data.”

Per Reuters, Trump urged lawmakers to pass a comprehensive gun control bill as the national conversation surrounding gun control – a conversation that was triggered by a shooting at Marjory Douglas Tillman High School in Parkland Fla. The shooting left 14 students and 3 faculty dead, and more than a dozen injured.

Rebutting accusations that he is beholden to the NRA, Trump added that gun lovers have less power over him than lawmakers.

Earlier today, Dick’s Sporting Goods said it is “going to take a stand” and announced it would permanently ban sales of the AR-15 – the rifle used by Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz and several other mass shooters – from its stores.

The meeting with lawmakers was his fourth “free-flowing gun policy discussion” since the Valentine’s Day massacre in Florida, according to Reuters.

“We’re going to come up with some ideas,” Trump said.

“Hopefully we can put those ideas in a very bipartisan bill. It would be so beautiful to have one bill that everybody can support, as opposed to – you know – 15 bills, everybody’s got their own bill.”

Seven senators and representatives were invited to Wednesday’s session. The group included Democrats and Republicans who, according to Reuters, have diverse views on gun control.

Republican Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, who have proposed legislation to fix holes in the background check system for gun buyers, and their Democratic co-sponsors.

Trump also said he backs Cornyn’s bill while urging senators to add more items to the bill to make it more comprehensive.

Raising Rifle-Buying Age to 21 Leads to Inconvenient Truth

“I absolutely believe that in this country if you are 18 years of age, you should not be able to buy a rifle, and I will support a law that takes that right away,” Sen. Marco Rubio pandered to an inflamed mob at a CNN “town hall meeting,” drawing applause from a crowd that for the most part would never vote for him in a million years, no matter how many gun owners he betrays. And he wasn’t done throwing those that trusted him with political power under the bus, also offering up a “bump stock” ban, prior restraint disarmament orders and a willingness to put a normal capacity magazine ban on the table. That and he’s dead set on keeping schools “gun-free zones,” nixing any plan to recognize the right of teachers who so choose to keep and bear arms.

So naturally it was in CNN’s interest to portray this poltroon, who by his own words doesn’t understand what a right is and that no one has legitimate authority to take any away, as “a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights.”  Getting low-information viewers to swallow that lie allows them to portray anyone who opposes serial surrenders as an “extremist,” and with just a bit more media conflation, as a fascist and a hater.

And Rubio is hardly alone. Donald Trump has now thrown his hat in the “Ban semi-auto rifles for anyone under 21” ring. It’s fair to wonder, with the green light given him by NRA on “Fix NICS” and “bump stocks,” if his contention that “The NRA will back it and so will Congress” means any vocal opposition from Fairfax will be for show, and at the end of the day members will be fed a load of “Who else do you have to vote for?”

It’s also fair to wonder how anyone with judgment so impaired they’re too young to own a semi-auto could be considered mature enough to vote, to contract, to parent, to cohabit or marry, to join the military and deploy with actual “in common use at the time” ordnance,” or to make any of the daily adult choices expected of a free citizen. Instead, we see a “progressive” law professor making the case—as amplified by CNN, to lower the voting age to 16.

Time was, that would have been considered “the yeomanry of America,” but that’s not what they have in mind. Anybody remember “Wild in the Streets”?

Never ones to let a crisis they contribute to go to waste, CNN has resurrected a video from Bryant Gumbel showing a 13-year-old buying a bolt-action .22 from a private collector at  a Virginia gun show. What is it with CNN and scripts, or with gun-grabbers using actors?

“The HBO clip has resurfaced following a deadly school shooting in Florida,” The Daily Mail “reports.”  All by its own self, no doubt. And it’s being used to show minors can’t buy cigarettes, scratch-offs and porn, but it’s open season on children  and unrestricted gun sales.

First, consider the source. We’re talking about someone who calls us “pigs.” They admit things are scripted, but not how much.  Who is the seller?  Which gun show did this take place at?  Does it require an adult to accompany juveniles to get in, so would it be fair for a seller to assume “adults” he could have seen with the boy were overseeing things, and that he’d have some ‘splainin’ to do when he showed up with purchase in hand for the ride home?

What else was said, by or to him, by the boy or by the crew that has not been revealed in order to maintain a “pig” presumption with viewers?

In any case, Virginia law was not broken. While the Code of Virginia makes it “unlawful for any person under 18 years of age to knowingly and intentionally possess or transport a handgun or assault firearm anywhere in the Commonwealth,” the same does not apply to the rifle allegedly purchased on camera.

That’s the way things have been in much of the country for much of my lifetime.

Time was, boys and rifles did not result in school shooting headlines.

Years back I related the story of a friend of mine, then 13, who used to take his scoped .22 rifle on a Santa Monica bus to do target practice, opening the action to show the driver it was unloaded and walking several blocks to and from the range. I’ve told the story in “Lies of Omission” of my encounter with a deputy while my friends and I were having fun with a 16-gauge shotgun.

“You boys being careful?” he asked after rolling down the cruiser window, getting a feel for our demeanor and behavior.

“Yes sir,” I replied, gun broken open.

“See that you are,” he replied before driving off, satisfied that there would be no need to prone us out, and that we were doing nothing any different than what he used to do when he was our age. If any stop signs showed up peppered with dents, he had my license plate.

It was a way of life, especially in Virginia before the “progressive” grasp over all aspects of our lives had established an intended death grip on everyone’s throats. Boys routinely took rifles with them to school to do some hunting on the way home. It was part of a culture those who would “fundamentally transform” America need to destroy.  And what the idiot Republicans going along with the betrayal of their oaths fail to account for is that “21” is just another incremental slide down the “slippery slope.”  The gun-grabbers don’t want anyone of any age who is not serving the power elites to own a rifle (or a handgun) for the same reason totalitarians throughout history have looked to citizen disarmament as their best guarantor of success.

But what these examples of past freedoms enjoyed by young people throughout our history prove beyond any doubt is that we, who they furiously demand to disarm, could be trusted with guns when we were young, as could those who raised us. Look at the “progression” of the numbers of incidents as the country changed politically, and the objective conclusion is that the Republic Mr. Franklin challenged us to keep is being destroyed from within by an oxymoronic  culture of “progressive values.”

Helping that along is rapidly accelerating slow suicide. Republicans either need to stop being useful idiots or else admit the false “conservative” wing is –and has been all along — a controlled opposition con job. With each new betrayal, they’re making it easier and easier to assume the worst.

Far-Left Group Calls For Murdering Republicans as Revenge For Florida School Shooting

A far-left group on Facebook is calling on people to murder Republican lawmakers who support the NRA as revenge for the Florida school shooting.

The unhinged posts appeared on a Facebook group called ‘Milkshakes Against the Republican Party’ in the hours after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

“Dear Crazed Shooters, The GOP has frequent baseball practice. You really wanna be remembered, that’s how you do it. Signed, Americans tired of our politicians bathing in the blood of the innocent for a few million dollars from the terrorist organization NRA,” states one of the posts.

The irony of openly encouraging terrorist attacks as revenge against a “terrorist organization” is seemingly lost on whoever posted the message.

“You remember the shooting at the Republican baseball game?” asks another post. “One of those should happen EVERY WEEK until those NRA-funded sons of bitches do something about this.”

Neither of the posts has been removed by Facebook despite being online for approaching 48 hours.

The mention of GOP baseball practice is in reference to the June 2017 shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise, which was carried out by a far-left Bernie Sanders supporter, James T. Hodgkinson, who was attempting to murder as many Republicans as possible.

These posts again illustrate how extremists on both the far left and far right are exploiting the hyper-partisan environment to spread hate and encourage violence.

Leftists on Twitter responded to a parent of one of the victims who lost his daughter in the school shooting with total vitriol merely because the man was wearing a ‘Trump 2020’ t-shirt.

The Gun Bill That Is Going Through Congress Could Significantly Increase The Number Of Americans Banned From Buying Guns

When news that a “concealed-carry reciprocity law” had been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, gun owners all over the nation rejoiced. But what most people didn’t realize is that there had been a last minute change to the bill that could substantially increase the number of Americans that are banned from buying guns. This poison pill completely ruins the bill, and it must be voted down. What we need is a clean “concealed-carry reciprocity bill” that does not include “Fix-NICS” in it.

Let’s start at the beginning. Last week, gun owners were elated when the House passed a bill that would enable them “to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines”…

Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.

The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. Six Democrats voted yes, while 14 Republicans voted no.

The measure would allow gun owners with a state-issued concealed-carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons. It now goes to the Senate.

It would be easy to assume that since virtually every single Republican voted for this bill that it must be a good thing.

But it turns out that a change was inserted into the bill at the last moment that many lawmakers never read. According to Fox News, the bill “contained an 11th-hour change to help states and agencies enter such data as criminal and domestic-violence convictions into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System for gun purchases”.

A few member of the House immediately figured out what was going on and decided to vote against the bill.  One of them was U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert…

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) explained on Wednesday that he could not support national reciprocity because House Leadership added the gun control expansions of “Fix-NICS” to it.

“Fix-NICS” is a measure Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and John Cornyn (R-TX) support. It responds to the Air Force’s failure to report Devin Kelley’s criminal history by expanding the number of people who will be barred from gun possession going forward.

So exactly how many people could be “barred from gun possession going forward”?

Well, according to Gun Owners Of America, even people with “unpaid traffic tickets” could be banned from owning guns under this bill…

The goal of the Cornyn-Feinstein-Murphy-Schumer bill is to force every single potential NICS name to be sent to the FBI’s NICS system.

It was prompted by reports that the Air Force did not send the name of the Sutherland Springs shooter to NICS — even though he certainly could have gotten a firearm in a wide variety of ways, even if he had been in NICS, and even though his carnage was stopped by the real solution to violence … a good guy with a gun.

The problem is that, because of this isolated horror story, the Cornyn bill could add the names of millions of additional law-abiding Americans to NICS.

You already know of the 257,000 veterans who have lost their rights because of a bad experience in Iraq.

You already know that 95% of NICS denials are “false positives.”

And you probably also know that “Fix NICS” would require that the rolls of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and ObamaCare be trolled for recipients with PTSD, ADHD, or Alzheimer’s — that is, people who have had guardians appointed.

What you may not know is that the SECOND LARGEST CATEGORY of prohibited persons is “fugitives from justice” — and that a good portion of these are Americans who have UNPAID TRAFFIC TICKETS.

Needless to say, I would have voted against this bill, and as a member of Congress I will never compromise on the 2nd Amendment even a single inch. If you believe in what we are trying to do, I hope that you will help us to win next May.

Even though Donald Trump is in the White House, the enemies of the 2nd Amendment are still trying to sneak gun control measures through Congress, and we need leaders in Washington that will tirelessly defend our rights.

Good News: Majority of Young Americans Want a New Political Party

(RPI) — Do we need a third major political party? I often joke that I’d be happy if we actually had a second party, as when it comes to the big issues – war, monetary policy, civil liberties – the Republicans and Democrats are more alike than different. Perhaps that’s why a recent NBC News poll has found that nearly two-thirds of young people surveyed do not believe either the Republicans or Democrats are doing a good job and that a third major political party is needed.

I think this is an encouraging sign. I suspect the NBC News poll result reflects the fact that young people are not as easily hoodwinked by the mainstream media and by the two-party duopoly charade in Washington. This generation has grown up with the Internet and the abundance of alternative media that challenges what really is a one-party system in the United States. They have been exposed to many new ideas, including good ones like libertarianism and non-interventionism.

Currently, mainstream politics in the US is all about power – how to get it and how to keep it – and not at all about philosophy or ideology. It is about selling out principles at every turn in order to chalk up another point in the “win” column. On issues like war and spending, it’s incredible how easily the two major parties are able to “compromise.”

A serious effort to create a new political party could be very exciting, but only if that new party is based on real ideas rather than simply the desire for power. Creating a viable third party will not be easy. While there is plenty written in the media about foreign collusion in US elections, the real collusion is between the Republican and Democratic Parties to prevent new parties from joining them on the national stage and the ballot.

Unfortunately the Libertarian Party has failed to live up to what should have been its role as an ideological alternative to Washington’s one-party system. As was quite obvious in the 2016 presidential election, the Libertarians yielded to prevailing attitudes on war, welfare, the Federal Reserve, and more. In believing that winning was more important than standing for something, they ended up achieving neither.

I would still like to have some hope for the Libertarian Party, but to really fill its role as a challenger to our two party system (that is actually a one party system) it would need a major overhaul. It would need to actually embrace the core libertarian principles of non-aggression and non-intervention in the affairs of others.

At the end of my 2008 presidential campaign, I brought together the candidates of the “minor” political parties and proposed that we agree on some basic principles regardless of whether we are libertarians, conservatives, progressives, or greens. Among those was the idea that we should never go to war unless we were directly attacked or threatened, that the Federal Reserve should not be allowed to benefit the rich by creating money out of thin air, and that we should not endorse deficit spending.

If a new party could come together and agree on these basic principles while agreeing to disagree on other, less important priorities, we could begin a formidable movement toward peace and prosperity.

Let us hope that this NBC News survey provides the inspiration to a real pro-peace, pro-prosperity movement in the United States. I have much confidence in the youth of our country!

Republicans prepare for war with FBI, DOJ: To file contempt action over anti-Trump bias

Five weeks ago, House Speaker Paul Ryan accused the DOJ and FBI of “stonewalling” the House Intelligence Committee’s wide-ranging subpoena for all pertinent information about how the largely unsubstantiated “Trump dossier” played into the DOJ’s decision to launch the infamous Trump collusion investigation. At the time, the speaker said the agency was preparing to turn over the information requested by the committee, but despite his assurances, the promised documents never materialized.

Then yesterday, thanks to a series of coordinated media leaks, Nunes learned – at the same time as the broader public – about the reassignment of Peter Strzok, a senior Mueller aide who had played a critical role in the DOJ’s original collusion investigation. And before that, Strzok helped lead the FBI’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information.

As it turns out, the agent had been reassigned for expressing anti-Trump sentiments in a series of text messages to FBI attorney Lisa Page while the two were having an affair. The bureau, it appears, had willfully tried to conceal this fact from Nunes and his committee.

Upon being blindsided with this information and publicly embarassed, the Intel committee chairman was understandably less than pleased. So in a statement issued Sunday, Nunes announced a serious escalation: His committee, he said, is preparing to hold Andrew McCabe and assistant AG Rod Rosenstein in contempt for the DOJ’s failure to comply with Nunes’s subpoena.

Strzok was reassigned in July, shortly before Nunes issued the request for the bureau to turn over all documents relating to the Trump dossier. In a transparent attempt to save face, the bureau contacted Nnes shortly after the Strzok news broke on Saturday to say they were ready to comply with the subpoena. But Nunes rightly repudiated this offer, saying it was too little, too late. He laid out his argument for preparing the order of contempt in a statement released Sunday offering details of the committee’s unsuccessful push to convince the FBI to turn over the documents it had requested.

Here’s a timeline of Nunes’ contact with the Department of Justice courtesy of the Washington Examiner:

• On Oct. 11, Nunes met with deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein. In that meeting, Nunes specifically discussed the committee’s request for information about Strzok.


• In an Oct. 31 committee staff meeting with the FBI, bureau officials refused a request for information about Strzok.


• On Nov. 20, the committee again requested an interview with Strzok. (Three days earlier, on November 17, Strzok met with the Senate Intelligence Committee.)


• On Nov. 29, Nunes again spoke to Rosenstein, and again discussed Strzok.


• On Dec. 1, the committee again requested to speak with Strzok.

Republicans, including President Trump, pointed to the news as evidence that the entire probe into Russian meddling had been politically motivated.

Unsurprisingly, both the FBI and House Democrats have been silent on the issue, according to Bloomberg:

A Justice Department spokesman, Sarah Isgur Flores, couldn’t be immediately reached for comment by telephone or text. There was no immediate response Sunday from a spokesman for the committee’s top Democrat, Representative Adam Schiff of California.

In his statement, included in full below, Nunes accused the FBI and the Department of Justice of willfully refusing to comply with an Aug. 24 committee subpoena in part by refusing the committee’s request “for an explanation of Peter Strzok’s dismissal from the Mueller probe.” Nunes is giving the FBI until end of business day tomorrow to fully comply with the committee’s requests, or face a contempt order before the end of the month.

Washington, D.C. – House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes issued the following statement today amid press reports that Peter Strzok, the top FBI official assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of collusion between Russia and Trump officials, had been removed from the probe after exchanging anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton text messages with his mistress, who was an FBI lawyer working for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe:

“The FBI and Department of Justice have failed to sufficiently cooperate with the Committee’s August 24 subpoena, and have specifically refused repeated demands from the House Intelligence Committee for an explanation of Pete Strzok’s dismissal from the Mueller probe. In light of today’s press reports, we now know why Strzok was dismissed, why the FBI and DOJ refused to provide us this explanation, and at least one reason why they previously refused to make Deputy Director McCabe available to the Committee for an interview.

“By hiding from Congress, and from the American people, documented political bias by a key FBI head investigator for both the Russia collusion probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI and DOJ engaged in a willful attempt to thwart Congress’ constitutional oversight responsibility. This is part of a months-long pattern by the DOJ and FBI of stonewalling and obstructing this Committee’s oversight work, particularly oversight of their use of the Steele dossier. At this point, these agencies should be investigating themselves.

“The DOJ has now expressed—on a Saturday, just hours after the press reports on Strzok’s dismissal appeared—a sudden willingness to comply with some of the Committee’s long-standing demands. This attempted 11th-hour accommodation is neither credible nor believable, and in fact is yet another example of the DOJ’s disingenuousness and obstruction. Therefore, I have instructed House Intelligence Committee staff to begin drawing up a contempt of Congress resolution for DOJ Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray. Unless all our outstanding demands are fully met by close of business on Monday, December 4, 2017, the committee will have the opportunity to move this resolution before the end of the month.”

In the statement, Nunes pointed to “a months-long pattern by the DOJ and FBI of stonewalling and obstructing this Committee’s oversight work,” including also withholding subpoenaed information about their use of an opposition research dossier that targeted Trump in the 2016 election.

In targeting McCabe and Rosenstein, Nunes explained that Attorney General Jeff Sessions was being excused from any contempt action by the committee because the AG had recused himself from the investigation into Russia meddling.

In addition to the threat of contempt, Strzok is also facing an internal review for his role in the investigation into Clinton’s handling of classified information on her private email server. It has already been revealed that then-FBI Director James Comey drafted his letter excusing Clinton before she had even been interviewed. The Office of the Inspector General probe into Strzok will examine his role in a number of “politically sensitive” cases this year, according to Fox News.

At the FBI, senior managers are facing a serious dilemma: It’s probable that the information pertaining to Strzok is only some of what the bureau has tried to keep from Nunes and the committee. Now, the FBI is facing a dilemma: Either rush to comply without having the time to screen all the documents that have been supplied to the committee, or continue to resist, and face a Congressional subpoeana. Either way, we’re certain this isn’t the last of the story.

Liberals Freak Out As House Approves Nationwide Concealed Carry Reciprocity

The House Judiciary Committee voted 19-11 late Wednesday for the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. This bill would amend the federal criminal code to allow the concealed carry of guns across state lines for all concealed carry permit holders.

Should this bill become a law, states will not be able to impose their individual requirements for a concealed carry license on those who have a license to conceal in a different state. The left is already terrified.

Republicans rejected Democratic amendments that would ban violent offenders from qualifying under the law (because violent offenders cannot obtain a concealed carry permit anyway), as well as a change that would have prevented forum shopping; which means a New York resident barred from obtaining a concealed carry permit could instead send away for one from somewhere else. The bill, which has more than 200 co-sponsors, almost all Republicans, will now head to the floor of the 435-member House. A similar bill, with 38 Republican co-sponsors, is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

All this bill does is extend the right to carry a concealed firearm IF one is licensed to do so in all 50 states, regardless of the state that issued the license.  There isn’t really a reason for liberals to freak out, yet they are.

A qualified individual must: (1) be eligible to possess, transport, or receive a firearm under federal law; (2) carry a valid photo identification document; and (3) carry a valid concealed carry permit issued by, or be eligible to carry a concealed firearm in, his or her state of residence. – H.R. 38

“This would end abuses in anti-gun states like New York and New Jersey and allow law-abiding concealed carriers to exercise their rights nationwide with peace of mind,” the NRA website states. “[The bill] would not, as some critics claim, affect how states issue their own concealed carry permits.”

U.S. Representative Richard Hudson, the North Carolina Republican who introduced the legislation, called the bill “welcome progress” in efforts to expand and protect access to firearms. 

The few states that target law-abiding concealed carriers from other jurisdictions for criminal prosecution consider the bearing of arms in public for self-defense a privilege reserved for the elite, rather than a constitutional right. When states trample on constitutional rights, Congress has the authority and responsibility to act.  –NRA-ILA

This is a small shred of hope for gun owners who seek to exercise their rights regardless of whether or not they cross an arbitrary line.

‘A+’-Rated John Cornyn Continues to Side with Gun-Grabbers

Informed American gun owners don’t. And pretending this bill will prevent future acts of evil in order to impose forced infringements is nothing short of fraud.

“Americans want background checks for gun sales,” Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn assured his Twitter followers Friday. He was linking to a San Antonio Express-News editorial board advocacy piece spreading poll summaries showing alternatively that either “95 percent” or “84 percent” of Americans “support universal background checks for gun sales.”

That polls may show that reflects more on the media sound bite “understanding” most being queried have of gun issues in general. When put to the test in the only poll that impacts the real world, Nevada’s Question 1 referendum, the numbers came up different. Despite similar polling and millions of dollars from out-of-state billionaires to fund an Astroturf campaign effort, the measure passed by less than one percent, being rejected in all counties except populous (and Democrat-dominated) Clark County.

The real question here is why is John Cornyn so eager to give the gun-grabbers a victory, teaming with the likes of Chris Murphy and Dianne Feinstein to “Fix NICS”? After all, we’re talking about a politician that the NRA, which gives him an”A+,” says “has always defended our gun rights in Congress!”

And it’s not like there’s any delegated Constitutional authority for the national government to impose prior restraints on firearms transfers in the first place. So why give citizen disarmament leaders something to crow about, especially since no one but a useful idiot believes expanding infringements is aimed at any but the law-abiding?

“John Cornyn knows that the Second Amendment isn’t subject to negotiation, because our right to defend ourselves is the cornerstone of our democracy,” NRA has gushed in the past. “He also knows that the extreme agenda pushed by gun control groups will make us less safe, less free and turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals for simply exercising their rights.”

So why is he helping the anti-gunners in their “baby step” quest to completely end private sales and then move on to the next stop on their “slippery slope”? For that matter, why is NRA supporting giving up any ground to people who want it all, especially since no less a source than the National Institute of Justice has concluded:

“Effectiveness depends on the ability to reduce straw purchasing, requiring gun registration…”

It’s hardly the first time Cornyn — and NRA — have come out in support of citizen disarmament measures. Due process concerns raised in this column have still never been comprehensively addressed about the mental health dragnet they both support, including:

What protections will exist to offset politically-connected anti-gun judges, politically-appointed boards, and “expert” adherents of the American Psychiatric Association’s “Position Statement on Firearm Access, Acts of Violence and the Relationship to Mental Illness and Mental Health Services.” It’s fair to ask, because APA includes in its advocacy platform registration-enabling, background checks, “smart” guns, storage requirements, “gun-free” zones, doctor-patient boundary violations, tax-funded anti-gun “studies,” all outside the scope of the training and credentialing of those making these proposals.

Also of interest – or it should be – how will rights be restored when there is no longer a compelling mental health reason to deny them? What universal appeal mechanism – affordable to all, not just to elites for whom money is no object – will exist to declare a person is once more “eligible” to keep and bear arms? What guarantees are there that the same biases that colored the disability ruling in the first place won’t reassert themselves in the “parole” process? And have we identified psychiatric evaluators, risk management administrators and insurers who will be willing to subject themselves to malpractice liabilities should a person deemed “fit” be misdiagnosed? Or will the pressure be to “err on the side of caution”?

Lest we forget, Cornyn andother “top Congressional Republicans” have also “signaled” to the media they “would be open to banning the firearm accessory that the Las Vegas gunman used to transform his rifles to mimic automatic weapon fire.”

Add to that Cornyn’s abysmal grades on immigration issues from Numbers USA. That’s directly relevant to the right to keep and bear arms – despite NRA’s deliberate indifference to the issue. That’s because all credible polls – plus real world experience in places like California – demonstrate such populations overwhelmingly support “gun control.” Open a “pathway to citizenship” and overwhelmingly anti-gun legislatures will be empowered to pass whatever infringements they want, plus ensure federal judges confirmed by the majority will uphold them.

What will A-rated Republican politicians and the “gun rights” organization that gives the green light to their defections tell us we need to give up then? And what will constituents and members who feel betrayed tell them in return?
