It’s looking more and more like it will take a major attack against the U.S. power grid before the government and electric industry come together and get serious about protecting it.
According to a new investigative report that likely won’t get much attention outside of certain circles, the U.S. electric grid is increasingly vulnerable as power companies lag behind in adopting better security measures.
And the result, someday soon, could be catastrophic — as in near-complete societal breakdown.
As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, the report from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, or NERC, says that the grid’s vulnerability is heightened by an unprecedented wave of attacks that threaten to cripple the entire country.
NERC notes further that amid a wave of stepped-up attacks against key power stations, the organization has had difficulty convincing power companies to step up their protective measures meant to thwart would-be attackers and terrorists.
Since 2014, according to the Congressional Research Service, which cited from the NERC report, “security risks to the power grid have become an even greater concern in the electric utility industry,” though the power sector “has not necessarily reached the level of physical security needed based on the sector’s own assessments of risk.”
The Free Beacon noted further:
In the three years since federal overseers implicated a series of new standards for physical security of grid locations, the industry has worked to improve its defenses but has struggled to implement all of the government’s recommendations, according to the report.
The slow moving pace of reforms, combined with an increased threat level and inability of the federal government to warn of upcoming attacks, has fueled concerns that the U.S. electric grid could be easily taken down by a rogue actor.
“There is widespread belief that bulk power critical assets are vulnerable to physical attack, that such an attack potentially could have catastrophic consequences, and that the risks of such attacks are growing,” the report says. “But the exact nature of such potential attacks and the capability of perpetrators to successfully execute them are uncertain.”
The report has resonated among members of Congress, especially in lieu of a rifle attack in September 2016 against a transformer substation in Utah — the latest in a string of similar attacks dating back to at least April 2013, when attackers targeted an electric power station near San Jose, Calif., which took 27 days to repair. Then as now, lawmakers and federal officials aren’t sure if the attacks are local acts of vandalism or part of a larger domestic terrorism movement.
“Although the electric power sector seems to be moving in the overall direction of greater physical security for critical assets, many measures have yet to be implemented and the process of corporate realignment around physical security is still underway,” the NERC report noted, leaving out a comprehensive review of all pressing national security threats.
“The September 2016 rifle attack on a 69 kV transformer substation in Utah—which reportedly left 13,000 rural customers without power for up to eight hours—showed that similar incidents could occur almost anywhere on the grid,” warned the report.
Should rogue actors — terrorists — take down a large portion of the grid, nearly all experts agree that societal chaos would result almost immediately.
“While to date there have been only minor attacks on the power system in the United States, large-scale physical destruction of key parts of the power system by terrorists is a real danger,” the National Academy of Sciences warned in a recent report. “Some physical attacks could cause disruption in system operations that last for weeks or months.”

A far-left group on Facebook is calling on people to murder Republican lawmakers who support the NRA as revenge for the Florida school shooting.
The unhinged posts appeared on a Facebook group called ‘Milkshakes Against the Republican Party’ in the hours after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
“Dear Crazed Shooters, The GOP has frequent baseball practice. You really wanna be remembered, that’s how you do it. Signed, Americans tired of our politicians bathing in the blood of the innocent for a few million dollars from the terrorist organization NRA,” states one of the posts.
The irony of openly encouraging terrorist attacks as revenge against a “terrorist organization” is seemingly lost on whoever posted the message.
“You remember the shooting at the Republican baseball game?” asks another post. “One of those should happen EVERY WEEK until those NRA-funded sons of bitches do something about this.”
Neither of the posts has been removed by Facebook despite being online for approaching 48 hours.
The mention of GOP baseball practice is in reference to the June 2017 shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise, which was carried out by a far-left Bernie Sanders supporter, James T. Hodgkinson, who was attempting to murder as many Republicans as possible.
These posts again illustrate how extremists on both the far left and far right are exploiting the hyper-partisan environment to spread hate and encourage violence.
Leftists on Twitter responded to a parent of one of the victims who lost his daughter in the school shooting with total vitriol merely because the man was wearing a ‘Trump 2020’ t-shirt.

Both Congress and the Department of Homeland Security have never justified the biometric scanners at airports that could cost Americans $1 billion in 2018.
As TSA agents continue to prove their incompetence in the “War on Terror,” the Department of Homeland Security is now allocating $1 billion in taxpayer funding to create a facial recognition program that will illegally scan Americans’ faces.
A study conducted by Georgetown Law’s Center for Privacy and Technology looked at the biometric scanners that are creating an inventory of the faces of individuals leaving the country at airports across the United States. While they are only at certain major airports right now, the full implementation of these scanners could cost Americans up to $1 billion.
The study noted that while the “9/11 Response and Biometric Exit Account” created by Congress has the funds for the program, “neither Congress nor DHS has ever justified the need for the program.”
In addition to the fact that Congress has never provided a reason why the system is needed in the U.S., the study claimed that DHS has “repeatedly questioned ‘the additional value biometric air exit would provide’ compared with the status quo and the ‘overall value and cost of a biometric air exit capability,’ even as it has worked to build it.”
Not only is a government agency pouring $1 billion into a program to increase the country’s security measures even though it lacks full confidence, and has no evidence that the program it is implementing will do so, there is also the fact that the program requires Americans to give up their civil liberties, and it has never been explicitly authorized by the government. As the researchers from Georgetown Law noted:
“DHS’ biometric exit program also stands on shaky legal ground. Congress has repeatedly ordered the collection of biometrics from foreign nationals at the border, but has never clearly authorized the border collection of biometrics from American citizens using face recognition technology.
Without explicit authorization, DHS should not be scanning the faces of Americans as they depart on international flights—but DHS is doing it anyway. DHS also is failing to comply with a federal law requiring it to conduct a rulemaking process to implement the airport face scanning program—a process that DHS has not even started.”
The study also found that the biometric scanners used by DHS are not reliable, and often make mistakes. In fact, “according to DHS’ own data, DHS’ face recognition systems erroneously reject as many as 1 in 25 travelers using valid credentials.” This means that at the country’s busiest airports, more than 1,500 travelers could be wrongfully denied boarding in a single day.
As The Free Thought Project has reported, while the biometric scanners are currently located at the major airports in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, New York City and the District of Columbia, DHS has made it clear that they plan to roll this program out nationwide by January 2018.
Sens. Ed Markey, a Democrat from Massachusetts, and Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, criticized the privacy implications, and called for Homeland Security to halt the facial recognition scanning program in a letter to DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielson:
“We request that DHS stop the expansion of this program, and provide Congress with its explicit statutory authority to use and expand a biometric exit program on U.S. citizens.
If there is no specific authorization, then we request an explanation for why DHS believes it has the authority to proceed without congressional approval. Additionally, we ask that you address a number of our privacy concerns with the program.”
Markey told The Hill that DHS should never have started testing and implementing the biometric scanners without first receiving congressional approval, and the United States Congress should take the time to weigh the implications of the program before handing the department a blank check.
“When American citizens travel by air internationally, they should not have to choose between privacy and security,” Markey said. “The implementation of the Department of Homeland Security’s facial recognition scanning program for passengers leaving the country raises a number of concerns around accuracy, transparency and basic necessity.”
One day after local media outlets in San Francisco confirmed that the FBI had arrested Muslim convert Everitt Aaron Jameson for planning to attack the popular Pier 39 shopping center and tourist attraction, it has been revealed that the suspect was also a supporter of Antifa and other hard-left causes.
According to authorities, Jameson targeted Pier 39 because of his knowledge of the area and the specific fact that it would be “heavily crowded.” The man also believed that it would be easy to “funnel” more people into the area in order to murder them.
While mainstream media reports have confirmed that Jameson recently began to post and like pro-terrorism related content on Facebook, the establishment press has so far ignored the stunning fact that the would be terrorist was also a public supporter of Antifa as well as mainstream press outlets who support the group such as CNN and Buzzfeed.

Some of Jameson’s favorite news organisations were The Young Turks, CNN, BuzzFeed and Al Jazeera. He also liked a number of pro-vegan pages.
The jihadist also sympathised with a number of pro-Muslim pages, including ‘Documenting Oppression Against Muslims, ‘Islam – Religion of Peace’ and ‘Stunning Hijabs’, as well as numerous anti-Israel activist pages.
That’s right, Jameson liked a who’s who of the far-left, anti-Trump “resistance” and the mainstream media apparently doesn’t want the American people to know this shocking fact.
One has to wonder if the suspect was not only inspired by ISIS by also by hard-left groups here in the United States, some who have even pushed for an alliance between the left and Islam.

Jameson’s Facebook likes confirm that his political leanings were a mixture of radical far-left ideology and Islamism.
As we have documented, ISIS has previously attempted to reach out to those on the far-left as part of an attempt to create militant offshoot cells within the United States and Western Europe.
A passage from the ISIS manifesto Black Flags from Rome entitled ‘European Muslims allying with Left-Wing activists’ details a plan to recruit those on the far left because they broadly share the same goals as radical Islamists.
During the anti-Trump inauguration riots back in January, one Antifa supporter was seen displaying an ISIS flag and beheading videos on his phone in an effort to intimidate Trump supporters in Washington, DC.
Its safe to say that the establishment press won’t be doing any in-depth research on how Jameson became radicalized, especially when you consider the fact that the press itself has promoted Antifa as a legitimate means of resisting Donald Trump.
After he was caught providing aid to ISIS terrorists, a Washington D.C. cop has become the first law enforcement officer to be convicted of terrorism.
The Obama administration “derailed” a massive investigation into drug trafficking and other illegal activities by the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah over fears that it could anger Iran at a time when Obama was attempting to secure a nuclear deal with the nation, according to a 14,000 word report from Politico.
The article paints a clear picture of an administration that was willing to do whatever it takes, including allowing cocaine to flow into the United States, (which led to an unknown number of deaths of Americans by overdose) to pass a nuclear deal that many in his own party didn’t even support.
The law enforcement campaign that the Obama administration specifically and purposefully derailed was known as “Project Cassandra” and was launched in 2008 after the DEA had confirmed that Hezbollah was now in the business of selling drugs, and lots of them.

The campaign, dubbed Project Cassandra, was launched in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration amassed evidence that Hezbollah had transformed itself from a Middle East-focused military and political organization into an international crime syndicate that some investigators believed was collecting $1 billion a year from drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering and other criminal activities.
Over the next eight years, agents working out of a top-secret DEA facility in Chantilly, Virginia, used wiretaps, undercover operations and informants to map Hezbollah’s illicit networks, with the help of 30 U.S. and foreign security agencies.
They followed cocaine shipments, some from Latin America to West Africa and on to Europe and the Middle East, and others through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States. They tracked the river of dirty cash as it was laundered by, among other tactics, buying American used cars and shipping them to Africa. And with the help of some key cooperating witnesses, the agents traced the conspiracy, they believed, to the innermost circle of Hezbollah and its state sponsors in Iran.
Make no mistake, despite denials by the literal officials who allowed the drugs to be run into the country in the first place, this was a specific move by the Obama administration who decided a nuclear deal with Iran was more important than stopping a drug dealing terrorist organization, And they apparently had no problem openly undermining Project Cassandra.
The Politico report continues:
But as Project Cassandra reached higher into the hierarchy of the conspiracy, Obama administration officials threw an increasingly insurmountable series of roadblocks in its way, according to interviews with dozens of participants who in many cases spoke for the first time about events shrouded in secrecy, and a review of government documents and court records.
When Project Cassandra leaders sought approval for some significant investigations, prosecutions, arrests and financial sanctions, officials at the Justice and Treasury departments delayed, hindered or rejected their requests.
The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah’s high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force.
And the State Department rejected requests to lure high-value targets to countries where they could be arrested.
“They serially ripped apart this entire effort that was very well supported and resourced, and it was done from the top down,” claimed David Asher who himself had helped establish the operation that Obama and his surrogates fought against.
Even more shocking, the Obama administration also BLOCKED efforts to arrest various terrorist operatives within Hezbollah, including a man known only as Ghost that authorities believe is one of the worlds biggest cocaine and chemical weapon dealers!
Project Cassandra members say administration officials also blocked or undermined their efforts to go after other top Hezbollah operatives including one nicknamed the ‘Ghost allowing them to remain active despite being under sealed U.S. indictment for years.
People familiar with his case say the Ghost has been one of the world’s biggest cocaine traffickers, including to the U.S., as well as a major supplier of conventional and chemical weapons for use by Syrian President Bashar Assad against his people.
You truly cannot make this stuff up folks! Keep in mind that this was published by a mainstream media outlet that the rest of the establishment press has considered one of their own for years.
With that being said, it is safe to assume that key Obama officials involved in allowing Americans to be killed by cocaine will deny deny deny and the larger mainstream media apparatus will mostly ignore this absolute bombshell of a story.

In what appears to be an expertly timed exercise in fearmongering less than two weeks after the horrifying Halloween terror attack in lower Manhattan - the deadliest attack in America’s financial center since 9/11 - the Department of Homeland Security has issued a bulletin warning the public about the risk of drones being used to facilitate acts of terrorism.
Drones, which are now easy to obtain and modify in potentially deadly ways (one Connecticut man was investigating after he published a video of a drone equipped to fire a nine-millimeter) DHS is warning about the threat of weaponized drones being used to carry out chemical attacks and the targeting of commercial aircraft, according to ABC.
"We continue to face one of the most challenging threat environments since 9/11, as foreign terrorist organizations exploit the internet to inspire, enable or direct individuals already here in the homeland to commit terrorist acts," reads the bulletin.
The National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin, which replaced the old color-coded system, is used to give the public and local law enforcement a summary about ongoing and potentially new terror threats.
A senior DHS official told ABC that there"s been an "uptick in terrorist interest" in using unmanned aerial systems as weapons in the United States and other western countries.
These tactics have been used by terrorists on the battlefield, and the department wants to "guard against those tactics being exported to the west," said the official.
The official said that DHS wants to be "forward leaning" about seeing what terrorists are doing overseas and tactics they might adopt in the future.
DHS has been implementing wide-ranging security measures for all airports and airlines that fly directly to the U.S. In June, the administration announced "enhanced screening" of passengers and their electronic devices, as well as "seen and unseen" security around the aircraft and inside the airport.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly said terrorists still see "aviation as the crown jewel target,” when the security measures were announced.
At the time, he was the head of DHS, a cabinet-level department that was created by George W Bush after 9/11.
The measures, which are being rolled out in phases, are aimed at detecting concealed explosives, insider threats and identifying suspicious passengers.
The US has been urging other countries to adopt similar measures, according to current acting DHS Secretary Elaine Duke.
The new bulletin also warns of the use of "poisons or toxins," which the DHS official says there has been increased chatter about in the terror realm.
The "big picture" is that the homeland security fight is shifting, the senior DHS official told ABC.
The department"s response to the terror threat is adapting as ISIS is close to defeat in safe havens, but continues to have branches and affiliates around the world, according to DHS.

In a startling turn of events, a Swedish radio station began playing ISIS propaganda after it was apparently hijacked by supporters of the terror group who used a pirate transmitter to broadcast over a popular morning radio show.
The station, Mix Megapol, was taken over around 8:30 A.M. CET, switching from mainstream radio to the airing of the ISIS recruitment song, “For the sake of Allah” which was then blasted out to residents in the countries third largest city, Malmo.
The song encourages possible western ISIS supporters to join the fight in the Middle East.
The three minute song then aired for nearly a half hour before the station even realized what was going on, eventually being alerted to the terror propaganda by concerned listeners who phoned into the station.
“This is of course very serious, particularly because they had been playing a song about ISIS recruitment, a spokesperson for the station told local news outlet 24Malmo. “We see this as a very serious incident and have therefore reported it to the police.”
An Associated Press wire confirmed the local reports:
A Swedish radio station says a pirate broadcaster briefly broke into its Friday morning show and broadcast an English-language pop song urging Westerners to join the Islamic State group.
Jakob Gravestam, a spokesman for the Bauer Media group that operates the Mix Megapol station in Malmo, Sweden’s third largest city, said in a statement that the incident would be reported to police and the Swedish government agency that monitors electronic communications, among others.
The 24Malmo news site said the song entitled “For the Sake of Allah” was played for about 30 minutes on the FM and Internet-based radio station that is part of a private radio network airing in 24 cities across the country and claims to reach 91 percent of Sweden’s 10 million people.
Local news reports have claimed that it is so far unknown if the pirate transmitter was actually operated by supporters of ISIS but one can imagine that this is indeed the case.
The Swedish Security Service has reported that over 300 people have left the country to fight for ISIS since the terror group began its propaganda campaign to entice westerns to join their cause.
“This puts Sweden in second place after Belgium for ISIS fighters per capita who have left their home countries for Iraq and Syria.”

Why would the group bite the hand feeding it? Draw your own conclusions about Tuesday’s Manhattan incident and ISIS claiming responsibility – calling suspect Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov a “soldier of the caliphate.”
He’s badly wounded and hospitalized, kept under wraps, prevented from speaking publicly, the FBI controlling the information flow about what happened so only its version of things can get out.
Was Tuesday’s incident terrorism or a false flag? It’s unknown, yet suspicions are warranted.
Numerous previous incidents in America and Europe called terrorism were state-sponsored false flags, including 9/11, the mother of them all.
Was Tuesday Manhattan incident the latest one? The fullness of time may tell what Saipov so far can’t explain. All we know is what he’s reputed to have said, nothing from him directly.
ISIS provided no evidence supporting its claim of inspiring what happened. Its fingerprints aren’t on the Manhattan incident or any other previous similar Western ones.
Media scoundrels pronounced Saipov guilty straightaway, along with authorities – before he was officially charged.
Guilt by accusation is longstanding US policy against individuals it wants incarcerated – or simply detained indefinitely without charges or trials, the fate of undisclosed numbers in US global torture prisons.
Charges against Saipov were detailed in a lengthy 10-page indictment on November 1, presented in US federal district court less than 24 hours after the October 31 incident.
United States of America v. Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov reads like it was prepared in advance of what happened.
Legitimate indictments take time to prepare, following evidence collected. The one against Saipov came out overnight, a red flag like other disturbing ones following Tuesday’s incident.
The note and photo of an ISIS flag he allegedly left behind could have been planted. Yet media scoundrels continue accepting official reports unquestionably like they always do, repeating them stenographically.
Charges against Saipov claimed a black bag was found at the crime scene containing three knives. Were they his, or were they planted?
Killer cops in America plant guns or other weapons at crime scenes to conceal their own wrongdoing, unjustifiably justifying lethal shootings of victims.
According to official reports, Saipov confessed to plotting Tuesday’s incident after hearing an ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s audio recording.
Maybe so. Maybe not. All that’s known is what federal authorities claim, the FBI controlling reports, not Saipov directly, the only reliable source, no others.
Was he radicalized to become an ISIS sympathizer? Are official reports about what happened last Tuesday accurate?
Will Saipov get a chance to explain things himself? Will he get his day in court in proceedings open to the public?
If not, taking nothing officially reported at face value, suspect coverup of vital information.

The suspect in the NYC Terrorist Attack was reportedly interviewed by federal agents in 2015 under the suspicion that he had ties to terrorists.
