Homeschoolers: ‘We Will Not Be Scapegoats’ for the Failure of Government Agencies to Protect Children

Homeschooling families on both coasts of the United States say they are being blamed by state bureaucrats attempting to burden them with intrusive regulations following the failure of government agencies and public schools to protect children from serious child abuse.

In California, nearly a thousand homeschooling parents traveled to attend a legislative committee hearing in Sacramento to defeat a bill that sought first to mandate fire inspections of their homes and then to demand private information about the names and addresses of homeschooling families.

The bill was proposed following the horrific case of the Turpin parents who said they were homeschooling their children when all the while they were torturing and starving them.

As gwire.com reported, Assemblyman Jose Medina, a Democrat, said he wrote the bill because of the Turpin case.

“When the Turpin case happened,” Medina said, “I, like many others in my district … looked in the law, looked for what may have been able to be done to avoid that incident.”

Republican Kevin Kiley, however, said using the Turpin case to create law was not good policy.

“That is an extreme outlier case,” he asserted. “Any data set will have extreme outlier cases.”

5 Illinois Counties Declare Themselves ‘Sanctuary Counties’ for Gun Owners

Five Illinois counties have now declared themselves to be “sanctuary counties” for gun owners, and 20 more counties in the state are considering the same move.

The push for “sanctuary” status is intended to send a message to the Democrat-controlled state legislature, which has considered numerous gun control laws again this session.

Fox News reports the declaration of “sanctuary county” indicates employees of that respective county will be instructed to ignore new gun control laws rather than enforce them.

Breitbart News reported that Effingham County was one of the first to proclaim its “sanctuary” status. Effingham County Board vice chairman David Campbell told Fox News, “It’s a buzzword, a word that really gets attention. With all these sanctuary cities, we just decided to turn it around to protect our Second Amendment rights.”

The ‘Russian Collusion’ Trial Is On, And Mueller May Be The First Casualty

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lawyers for Russian company Concord Management and Consulting, LLC, formally entered a “not guilty” plea in federal court Monday in a case special counsel Robert Mueller probably never thought would happen.

Mueller, weathering significant criticism that his Russian collusion case was thin, unveiled a Feb. 16 against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies. The 13 Russians in question were charged with waging “information warfare” in the United States, interfering with the 2016 presidential election, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Mueller generated headlines with the February indictment, safe in the knowledge the 13 Russians were beyond U.S. jurisdiction. Therefore, there would be no trial — only sensational Russian collusion accusations.

Oregon Gun Ban Petition Meets MASS RESISTANCE

The Oregon gun confiscation ballot initiative, petition #43, has passed the first hurdle with the Oregon Secretary of State. After gathering 3400 signatures during the weekend of the “March For Our Lives” astroturf photo op “protests”, not even 1000 of the signatures were valid. In Oregon, 1000 “sponsorship” signatures are required for a proposed ballot initiative. They eventually got more signatures and turned them in on April 17th. After the signatures were verified, they were given a “draft ballot title”.  In Oregon, during the “draft ballot title” phase, any elector (registered voter) can comment on the ballot title and argue for or against the title for a bevy of different reasons.

And boy did Oregon gun owners comment. BIGLY.

The Secretary Of State’s office reports that over 1000 comments were submitted contesting the title and the initiative itself. Anyone who submitted a comment has standing to appeal the title in the state Supreme Court. The comments are public record on the SOS website, and the .pdf document contains a whopping 1573 pages. The Secretary Of State says they never get more than a dozen comments about a ballot initiative, making this a historic turnout.

SECURITY OPERATIONS WITH A COALITION FORCE

Some time back, Stewart Rhodes asked me to write an article for  the national web site on the security operations we do here in Arizona.  About 2-3 years ago I developed a program we call Operation Braveheart.  This is a coalition of Oath Keepers, III%’s, militia, prepper groups, and many other patriot groups in the State of Arizona.  One group we recruited, known as the Arizona Liberty Guard (AZLG), formed a corporation and a private security company.  This group has worked with the Phoenix Police Department and the Department of Public Safety on several operations.  AZLG and Oath Keepers developed a good working relationship and, as a result, AZLG voted unanimously to join the Braveheart Coalition.

We have since done joint operations in conjunction with the Phoenix Police Department.  When DPS has requested AZLG assistance, they have stated they wanted a high profile presence as a deterrent.  And AZLG is a sight to see when they roll up on the event to provide perimeter and internal security.  They own several military vehicles, including a 5-ton.  They are so squared away that they have been mistaken for the National Guard.  We’re talking matching uniforms with unit patches and full load out.  Arizona OK’s Security Team and AZLG together number approximately 40-50 specially trained men who are capable of protecting a rather large venue.

The Oath Keepers Security Team is a more relaxed looking group, however they have an exceptional amount of experience with some very squared away military and law enforcement veterans.

We have run several operations in Phoenix for large groups, including a Trump Unity Rally, where Sheriff Joe Arpaio was speaking.  That rally brought ANTIFA activists, as well as other radical left wing groups to disrupt the event.  They were not successful.  They decided it would not be prudent to tangle with trained professionals.  The Phoenix Police Department, at the end of the event, told us they were very pleased with our performance and professionalism, and further stated  that we were the only volunteer group that they would work with in the future.  That’s the ultimate compliment from a large city Police Department.

Oath Keepers of Yavapai County, AZ, as well as Oath Keepers of Maricopa County, AZ, also provide much smaller teams to handle smaller venues and events.  Recently the Oath Keepers of Yavapai County have provided not only perimeter security, but also internal security, and personal protection for Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is running for the U.S. Senate.  This was done in conjunction with the Arizona Rangers, a private security company who are uniformed and equipped to more resemble law enforcement.

At one recent event with Sheriff Joe, word got out to the local communists in Prescott that there would be a political rally and he would be there.  The local college put together a protest of about 60-70 people.  They started out with a “die-in” in protest of the Maricopa County Jail that Sheriff Arpaio is quite famous for running, and the reason why he is known as America’s toughest sheriff.  Then the communists held a protest out on the street with signs and banners near the entrance to the event.  Sheriff Arpaio went out and attempted to talk with them face to face about their issues.  They only shouted phrases loudly and refused to have any intelligent interaction with him.  It became quite heated, so the Oath Keepers formed up around the Sheriff for his safety.

When the event opened, the communists were permitted into the auditorium , which held about 200 participants.  They sat together at the back of the room.   This event was sponsored by two of our elected representatives to the Arizona State House, who were also present.  They appealed to the audience to be respectful and not to disrupt the presentations.  All went smoothly for about 45 minutes, when cell phone alarms started going off, and the communists stood up and began chanting, shouting down the speakers.  This is on tape and posted on the IGD (It’s Going Down) website.

If interested, watch the video and you will see our team protecting the dignitaries.  After a short while, the Sheriff was escorted out of the room (but he did not leave the venue).  The Oath Keepers Team escorted the communists out of the auditorium and off the premises.  The Sheriff returned to the auditorium and finished his program.  Several communists remained seated though there were no further interruptions.

Appreciation was expressed from the podium for the actions of the Oath Keepers and the Rangers to bring order back to the event, to loud applause.  The Oath Keepers were asked at the end of the event by Sheriff Joe Arpaio to come up on the stage and take a picture with him.  He did the same with the Arizona Rangers.

When finished, we escorted the Sheriff to his vehicle to make sure he could leave in safety.   There was much discussion of the event in local media and on local talk radio programs, with mentions of the Oath Keepers and the Arizona Rangers being there to back down the disruptors.

There was another Sheriff Arpaio event in our area within a month.  It was an invitation-only event, but the organizers were concerned about possible disruptions.  The Oath Keepers were called, along with the Arizona Rangers, for security.  The venue was swept prior to the event, and teams were positioned all around the perimeter.  When the Sheriff arrived, he expressed  his appreciation at again seeing these groups there to keep the peace.  Fortunately, there were no disruptions.  Some thought that they had seen some interested people drive by but, upon seeing the security teams, they decided not to enter the venue, and it was speculated that it may have been because of the successful expulsion of disruptors from the previous event.

The bottom line is that no one group or organization can handle every event. The concept is to work within a coalition of groups to present a much larger show of force, thereby mitigating the need for violence. Some times a simple Psy-Op is quite effective as well. However if things do get out of control, it is nice to have a viable force to fall back on.

Gathering aims to relaunch Minutemen, fortify border, in response to caravan.

Operation Cinco de Mayo: In this video from the San Diego Union Tribune the founder of the Minutemen, former California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly explains why he called for the muster on the border of California and Mexico. The groups that responded to the call were Minutemen, Oath Keepers, and the California State Militia. Tim Donnelly is currently running for Congress.

Pledging to report unauthorized entries into the United States — and shame any state leaders who welcome them — about 20 border security supporters assembled Saturday morning near Jamul.

The group, including members of the Minuteman patrol movement, coordinated volunteers to watch designated border regions for 24 hours.

Their vigil, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, was meant to help federal officers, Minuteman leader Tim Donnelly said.

By reporting unauthorized border crossings, the observers hope to help outnumbered border officers, Donnelly said. He is a Republican candidate for the 8th congressional district, which covers much of the desert area north of Imperial County.

The border-watching exercise was in part a reaction to the caravan of Central Americans who traveled through Mexico to enter the U.S. at the border between San Diego and Tijuana, said Donnelly, a former assemblyman.

It was also meant as a warning to Gov. Jerry Brown, who signed the California Values Act, which limits law enforcement in the state from certain kinds of cooperation with federal immigration officials. The law has been criticized as an effort to make California a sanctuary for unauthorized immigrants.

“My hope is that we will reignite the (Minuteman) movement and that people will again be aiding (border agents) for longer periods of time, longer musters,” Donnelly said.

The camouflage-dressed volunteers, wearing boots, bringing backpacks and other wilderness gear, were instructed on safety such as avoiding rattlesnakes before heading out from Pio Pico campground.

Volunteers were told to avoid confrontations with border crossers if possible, and to help those in distress.

“There is no animus toward those who are crossing desperate, you know, to escape oppression,” Donnelly said. “But at the same time, among those people come through wolves, people who mean harm people like Luis Bracamontes, who was just recently sentenced to death here in California for executing two sheriff’s deputies up in Sacramento.”

While expressing sympathy for plight of border crossers, Donnelly and others blasted Brown, who they said has violated his oath of office.

“This is not about waving American flags,” Donnelly said. “This is about actually securing the border and sending a message to the political authorities, to Jerry Brown.

“I dare Jerry Brown to come down and arrest me, because you might get arrested down here for being a tyrant, for being a traitor, for aiding and abetting illegal aliens and harboring them in violation of federal law, which is the supreme law of the land when it comes to immigration.”

The Great Awakening

Isaac Stern, the host of Anti-School video podcasts, has a new video that explores the Great Awakening and how it affects us all.

What is the Great Awakening? It is the awakening from our slumber, where we have allowed ourselves to be complacent. We have allowed others to dictate our lives, thinking they know what they are doing, and that they care about us and our families. We have been taught in schools that only allow us to learn what “they” want us to learn.

Throughout the world, good folks are learning that they have been indoctrinated into a shallow, empty existence. They see it now for what it is. Good folks are waking up to see that their families, their neighborhoods and communities have been placed into an empty wasteland. Now, they want more.

It is not the collection of things that matter. More, and more, are seeing the benefits of a different way of life, where we work together in harmony, or agree to disagree in a civil way. Each community is different. Each individual is different, but we can still find areas of agreement, while allowing for the differences. One size fits all is a false paradigm. It negates excellence and diminishes the individual. A community is comprised of individuals who have come together by choice. Free choice.

Throughout our lives, we make choices. That some people want to dictate those choices is now apparent to many people, and they are asking why? You have the power to make your choices freely, if you desire. Your choices are yours to make. Too often, folks let others make those choices. Why? It is your life. Make your own choices,

FBI ‘Active Shooter’ Report Supports ‘Good Guy with a Gun’ Claims

It’s curious the Bureau made an editorial decision to emphasize an investigation it’s being so tight-lipped about.

A recently released report by the Federal Bureau of Investigation credits armed citizens with saving lives. “Active Shooter Incidents in the United States in 2016 and 2017” was released  in April, and provides hard evidence that gun-grabbers who ridicule the efficacy of keeping and bearing arms are demonstrably agenda-driven liars.

“The FBI has designated 50 shootings in 2016 and 2017 as active shooter incidents,” the report summarizes. “Twenty incidents occurred in 2016, while 30 incidents occurred in 2017.

“The FBI defines an active shooter as one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area,” the report continues. “Implicit in this definition is the shooter’s use of one or more firearms. The active aspect of the definition inherently implies that both law enforcement personnel and citizens have the potential to affect the outcome of the event based upon their responses to the situation. “

And how have citizens “affected the outcome”?

“Eight shooters were stopped by citizens,” the report documents, up from six credited in a 2014/2015 report:

“In four incidents, citizens possessing valid firearms permits successfully stopped the shooter. In two incidents, citizens exchanged gunfire with the shooter. In two incidents, the citizens held the shooter at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. In one incident, a citizen possessing a valid firearms permit exchanged gunfire with the shooter, causing the shooter to flee to another scene and continue shooting. In one incident, a citizen possessing a valid firearms permit was wounded before he could fire at the shooter.”

That’s a pretty good record, especially considering how the doctrinaire gun-grabbers scoff at the idea, say it never happens, and claim “untrained” people would either end up getting killed or killing innocents themselves.

It also belies charges that gun owners are violent and bloodthirsty, just looking for an excuse to kill someone. The reported incidents reflect appropriate actions and judgment, and while it’s true that one citizen was wounded, no one has ever claimed having a gun makes someone invincible – what it can do (and based on results does) is offer a better chance than being defenseless and helpless.

What the report does not do is specify which locations where armed citizens did not help stop a shooter were so-called “gun-free zones.” We can make educated guesses about some of the incidents, such as school shootings, but as presented it’s difficult to extrapolate on lives that could have been saved had an armed presence been encouraged rather than forbidden by ignorance and/or law.

As things stand, there’s no reason to doubt the potential for more saves, and it’s up to anyone who disputes that to produce proof that the FBI is wrong when it acknowledges:

“Armed and unarmed citizens engaged the shooter in 10 incidents. They safely and successfully ended the shootings in eight of those incidents. Their selfless actions likely saved many lives.”

There is, however, one major flaw in the report that defenders of gun owner rights should be sensitive to. Jeff Knox, director of The Firearms Coalition advocates that using the term “active shooter” to describe scumbag murderers is wrong and ought to be reclaimed by the real – and peaceable – active shooters.

Watch The Mighty Fall

Those who rise to positions of power, respect and prestige are faced with many temptations. Some succumb to those temptations after achieving their high positions. Others achieved their positions while hiding behind a veneer of respectability, while secretly having already succumbed to immoral or illegal behavior.

In my six decades of life, I have seen many people in high positions fall. Some fell from grace after their deaths, as the truth of their misdeeds, or their moral failings has come to light. Some fell from grace while still in the middle of their power, or position, or fame. Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, J. Edgar Hoover, Dennis Hastert, Gary Hart, Harvey Weinstein, Andrew McCabe, Jimmy Swaggart, Elliott Spitzer and Kevin Spacey are just a few of those who fell from grace.

We are none of us perfect, but most of us strive to be moral, caring individuals. Few of us would stand on a soapbox and proclaim our high moral standards, while seeking power and control. No, we just try to do what is right; what is moral.

Another has fallen from a high position. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D-NY) recently resigned after being accused of sexual misconduct and physical abuse. It would be ironic if these allegations were proven to be true, as Schneiderman portrayed himself as a strong supporter of “feminism”. Or would it?

I have always been suspicious of those who claim to be morally, intellectually or ethically superior to others. Why do they need to make such claims? Who are they trying to convince; themselves or others? I always felt they were taking onto themselves the mantle of virtues they lacked themselves. Maybe I’m wrong, but my suspicions have often been justified. I never trusted Richard Nixon, for instance.

Actions speak louder than words. It is an old axiom, but a wise one.

Morally bankrupt individuals, who seek power for power’s sake, can never be trusted. It is obvious they will do anything to gain, or retain, power. George H. W. Bush, his son, Dubya, and Bill and Hillary Clinton come to mind in this respect. They somehow believed they had a right to be President; as if it were some preordained summons from on high. They sought power for power’s sake.

Lord Acton once said, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men,…”. It is best to heed his words. No man, or woman, is perfect, but those who are most corruptible, in my opinion, are those who seek power. Psychopaths and sociopaths seek power. Those who seek power, and control, over others are not to be trusted, as they always have a secret, dark agenda.

Beware of the power seekers, and watch closely those who hold the reins of power. Beware of those who claim superiority.

Mueller Investigation In Jeopardy As “Witch Hunt” Accusations Play Out In Court

A funny thing happened on the way to impeaching Donald Trump. After two-years of investigations by a highly politicized FBI and a Special Counsel stacked with Clinton supporters, Robert Mueller’s probe has resulted in the resignation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, the arrests of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, and the indictment of 13 Russian nationals on allegations of hacking the 2016 election – along with the raid of Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

The nation has been on the edge of insanity waiting for that much-promised and long awaited link tying President Trump to Vladimir Putin we were all promised, only to find out that there is no link, the deck appears to have been heavily stacked against Donald Trump by bad actors operating at the highest levels of the FBI, DOJ, Obama admin and Clinton camp, and the real Russian conspiracy in the 2016 election was the participation of high level Kremlin sources used in the anti-Trump dossier that Hillary Clinton paid for.

Now, as the out-of-control investigation moves from the headlines and into court, the all-encompassing “witch hunt,” as Trump calls it, may be in serious jeopardy.

As of Friday, three separate Judges have rendered harsh setbacks to the Mueller investigation – demanding, if you can believe it, facts and evidence to back up the Special Counsel’s claims – in unredacted format as one Judge demands, or risk having the cases tossed out altogether.

The first major setback happened in February, when the federal judge assigned to the criminal case against Trump’s former National Security Advisor, Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ordered Mueller’s team to turn over any “exculpatory evidence” to Flynn’s defense.

Instead, Judge Emmet G. Sullivan issued the order “sua sponte,” or at his discretion, invoking the “Brady Rule” – which requires prosecutors to turn over previously unfiled evidence that might have a material impact on a defendant’s case. Two days before Sullivan issued the order, Mueller filed a motion for a protective order regarding the use of evidence in the case, including “sensitive materials,” which would be provided to Flynn’s lawyers by the office of the Special Counsel.

Karl Marx was born 200 years ago today. And despite the utter failure of his communist philosophy in practice, the cult lives on. Still people want to try again… this time they will get it right.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels originally published The Communist Manifesto in 1848. It laid out the beliefs and action plan of the Communist Party. The goal was to get communists of every nationality to rise up and unite to overthrow their “capitalist oppressors.”

Little did they know their words would be used by the likes of Stalin and Mao as justification for over 100 million murders meant to supposedly move society forward.

Congressional Dem Wants Mandatory Gun Buyback/Confiscation | “Go After the Resisters”

The anti-gun leaders are always talking about how we need “common sense” gun measures. Most of them will deny they want to take our guns from us. So, what “common sense” measures are they wanting?

California Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell wants to have a nationwide buy back of all “assault weapons” and to “go after the resiters”.

The End Game is to totally disarm us. We have known this for years. It is what tyrants always want to do.

It Is Time To Boycott Amazon

Jeff Bezos built Amazon into a behemoth that dominates e-commerce. He bought the Washington Post and Whole Foods. Now, being a globalist, he has enlisted the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to decide who is worthy of participating in their Smile charitable program.

Yes, the SPLC.

In an article from the Daily Caller, Peter Hasson reports:

Amazon has barred prominent Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) from participating in its Amazon Smile charitable program, which allows nonprofits to recoup a small fraction of the money their supporters spend through Amazon.

ADF, which specializes in First Amendment law and has won cases at the Supreme Court, is barred from Amazon Smile on account of the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, which labeled ADF a “hate group.” 

To put it simply, if you oppose globalism in any way, Jeff Bezos and the SPLC consider you to be a “hate group”. The SPLC has labeled Oath Keepers as anti-government,) which is ridiculous, as Oath Keepers stands for the Constitution, the founding document of our Republic).

Jeff Bezos is the richest man in America, with a net worth of over $100 billion dollars. He owns Amazon, the Washington Post and Whole Foods, and other companies. And he is a globalist. He attends the Davos World Economic Forum, where all the richest people meet each year to decide what the world will look like in future years. His newspaper, the Washington Post, is a champion of globalism.

Amazon has many thousands of employees. How are they treated? What of those workers who toil in the various warehouses Amazon has scattered around the globe? You might want to take a look here, here, here, and here. Can you honestly say Amazon, and Jeff Bezos, treats its employees well?

Meanwhile Jeff Bezos has not one huge estate, but five.

Being rich is not evil, but treating your employees badly, while you pile up riches is evil, in my opinion.

Jeff Bezos has aligned himself, and Amazon, with the ultimate hate group, the SPLC, and has proven to be a globalist. Those two reasons are enough, in my opinion, for me to boycott Amazon and all its businesses. That the employees of Amazon are mistreated is just another reason.

Veteran Campaigns for Office by Attacking Private Gun Sales and the Right to Own Semiautomatic Firearms

That is simply not true. It’s repeating an intentional deception crafted decades ago by the Violence Policy Center to exploit public ignorance and fear.

“Democrat buys semiautomatic rifle at Va. gun show in under 10 minutes,” The Washington Post crows in a “Gotcha!” headline designed to misuse supposedly “straight news” to stir up a demand for political action:

“Dan Helmer, an Army veteran, said he bought a firearm similar to the one he carried in Iraq and Afghanistan to show how easy it is to legally obtain an ‘in­cred­ibly dangerous piece of weaponry that’s meant for war” from a private seller. He bought the gun less than two miles from a public school, he said.”

Emotionally manipulate the ignorant much? The firearm may be cosmetically “similar,” but you can bet he didn’t carry a semiautomatic rifle when deployed. As for being “meant for war,” you’ll note he’s not questioning why police should have them if that’s the case, plus he’s intentionally ignoring what the citizen militia is entitled to:  Per the Miller Court, “the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear … ordinary military equipment … that … could contribute to the common defense.”

Plus he’s repeating one of the oldest lies in the gun-grabber playbook.

It’s beyond curious that the monopoly of violence zealots behind semiautomatic bans “justify” them by screaming they are “weapons of war.” Those, of course, are precisely what the Founders deemed necessary for members of the citizen militia to keep and bear. To insist otherwise is to maintain their purpose was to have the “whole people” called forth to be slaughtered – hardly a prescription for a secure or free State.

And this business of “less than two miles form a public school” is pure hysteria –ginning aimed at spooking the herd.  Helmer might as well tell them he thinks they’re ignorant and stupid, which you’d probably have to be to vote for such an obvious manipulator. And besides, if guns are too dangerous to be allowed in such areas, 90% of the country could be declared off-limits.

Helmer took an oath when he enlisted and he’ll take another if elected. How he squares that with active subversion of the Bill of Rights in order to gain political power is left unsaid. Hey,if these guys can get away with it and be rewarded…

And WaPo, of course, has long been in the business of undermining the right to keep and bear arms by the law-abiding, yet somehow ready to turn a blind eye to real and deadly abuses that don’t advance the narrative.  Case in point: When they gave Obama cover over his transparent lie related to OperationFast and Furious “gunwalking.”

As a DSM outlet continually wringing its hands over “gun violence,” here’s a chance to see if they’ll do it again, via one of the comments they allowed to be posted under their article (it won’t “hot link,” but the comment appears at https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/virginia-politics/democrats-race-to-prove-who-hates-guns-more-in-northern-virginia-house-primary/2018/05/01/d3ad87a0-4cbb-11e8-b725-92c89fe3ca4c_story.html?commentId=a84d12d5-839e-4907-ba5e-80ec88add3e6&outputType=comment&utm_term=.718ade7a6fed) :

My money’s on the guy turning out to be an anti-gun liar, which is, face it, what all grabbers are.  That said, if the paper’s editorial board is really serious about “gun control,” the comment poster is using their forum to brag that he committed a felony and is a “gun criminal.”

Seeing as how it’s impossible for us to tell if the claim is a lie or the truth, and in the spirit of the Department of Homeland Security’s “If you see something, say something” advice, it will be interesting to see if WaPo rats the guy out and volunteers his information (email and IP addresses, etc.) to the feds.

President Donald J. Trump Proclaims May 1, 2018, as Law Day, U.S.A.

On Law Day, we celebrate our Nation’s heritage of liberty, justice, and equality under the law.  This heritage is embodied most powerfully in our Constitution, the longest surviving document of its kind.  The Constitution established a unique structure of government that has ensured to our country the blessings of liberty through law for nearly 229 years.

The Framers of our Constitution created a government with distinct and independent branches — the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial — because they recognized the risks of concentrating power in one authority.  As James Madison wrote, “the accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands . . . may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”  By separating the powers of government into three co-equal branches and giving each branch certain powers to check the others, the Constitution provides a framework in which the rule of law has flourished.

The importance of the rule of law can be seen throughout our Nation’s history.  This year marks the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment to our Constitution.  The Fourteenth Amendment prohibits States from denying persons the equal protection of the laws or depriving them of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.  The commitment to the rule of law that led the country to ratify that Amendment was no less powerful than the commitment to the rule of law that led the country to ratify the original Constitution.

That commitment to the rule of law lives on today.  It drives the debates we see around the country about the growth of the administrative state and regulatory authority, and about the unfortunate trend of district court rulings that exceed traditional limits on the judicial power.  We also see that commitment in the people’s demand that their representatives comply with the Constitution, and in the Representatives and Senators themselves who take seriously their oaths to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower first commemorated Law Day in 1958 to celebrate our Nation’s roots in the principles of liberty and guaranteed fundamental rights of individual citizens under the law.  Law Day recognizes that we govern ourselves in accordance with the rule of law rather according to the whims of an elite few or the dictates of collective will.  Through law, we have ensured liberty.  We should not, and do not, take that success for granted.  On this 60th annual observance of Law Day, let us rededicate ourselves to the rule of law as the best means to secure, as the Preamble to our Constitution so wisely states, “the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, in accordance with Public Law 87–20, as amended, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2018, as Law Day, U.S.A.  I urge all Americans, including government officials, to observe this day by reflecting upon the importance of the rule of law in our Nation and displaying the flag of the United States in support of this national observance; and I especially urge the legal profession, the press, and the radio, television, and media industries to promote and to participate in the observance of this day.
