Oregon’s ‘School Exclusion Day’ Bans Unvaccinated Kids From Schools

Today is school exclusion day in Oregon.  The public school district will be banning children from attending their classes if they are not fully vaccinated.

The word they are looking for here is “segregation.” But Oregonians are calling it “School Exclusion Day.”  As noted by the state’s Health Authority, “parents must provide schools, child care facilities with kids’ vaccine records”. If their “records on file show missing immunizations”, their “children will not be able to attend school or child care” from this date forth.

According to Newsweek, today’s the day that, you won’t be given an education if you’re a child in Oregon and you don’t have a suite of vaccinations (including MMR, Polio, Hepatitis B, and more.) Similar enforcement initiatives are in operation in other states, from Texas to Illinois.

Authorities explained that, in 2017, nearly 30,000 letters were sent to parents and guardians letting them know their children’s inoculations weren’t up to date. Ultimately, 4,646 children were kept out of educational facilities until things changed – and the state is hoping this year will feature a decrease in said numbers.

Of course, there’s a problem. Vaccines aren’t mandatory in Oregon, so why are they punishing unvaccinate children? Propaganda.  The vaccine industry with the help of Big Pharma, prop up governments who like to force shot on kids. According to Oregonian state law, all children in any form of education, both public and private, preschools, and certified care facilities, must have up-to-date records or have an “exemption.” Generally speaking, these exemptions are medically based, but most begin tossing around the theory of “herd immunity” and blaming the unvaccinated for the spread of diseases.

Dr. Russell Blaylock MD, a retired neurosurgeon, says that if one takes a moment to consider the history of vaccination, the concept of herd immunity as it applies to vaccines unravels quickly.

“When I was in medical school, we were taught that all of the childhood vaccines lasted a lifetime. This thinking existed for over 70 years. It was not until relatively recently that it was discovered that most of these vaccines lost their effectiveness 2 to 10 years after being given. What this means is that at least half the population, that is the baby boomers, have had no vaccine-induced immunity against any of these diseases for which they had been vaccinated very early in life. In essence, at least 50% or more of the population was unprotected for decades. –Russell Blaylock

Of course, the real evidence won’t be blasted all over the media, and the introduction of booster shots lined the pockets of the vaccine manufacturers and doctors.  Not to mention the emerging data on this year’s flu vaccine, which basically says it’s spreading the flu.

Flu Vaccine Bombshell: 630% More “Aerosolized Flu Virus Particles” Emitted By People Who Received Flu Shots, Flu Vaccines Actually SPREAD The Flu

IFL Science notes that in some cases, nonmedical exemptions are also allowed for “personal, religious, or philosophical reasons”. Although in Oregon, these aren’t obtainable immediately upon request, they are given out.  According to a 2014 review on such matters, nonmedical exemptions are showing a rate increase across the nation.  That’s is a good sign.  It means people are reading on their own and deciding for themselves what is best rather than allowing a fear-mongering media to alter their opinion.  “Most exemptors questioned vaccine safety, although some exempted out of convenience,” the study noted.

At the end of the day, parents should have the freedom to choose what to is injected into their children.  Personally, I’m not going to set my kid on fire to keep yours warm.  Take care of yourself and your children and stop pushing useless narratives that most can see through.  Oregon is quickly spiraling into an authoritarian mess, and it doesn’t look there’s any way of stopping it.

Socialists In Oregon Pass ‘Universal Healthcare’ But They Have No Idea How To Pay For It

oregontaxes

Typical socialists: approve a massive government program by calling it a “right” with exactly zero plans or ideas on how to fund the program.

House Democrats in Oregon passed a resolution referring a question to voters without a single Republican vote. It heads next to the Senate. The provision would ask voters to alter the state Constitution to declare healthcare a “right.” There are many reasons healthcare isn’t a right, but that’s neither here nor there.

Owning a gun is right, but there aren’t any gun owners running around demanding exorbitant tax increases so the government can provide everyone who wants a gun with one. This is exactly what the left always gets wrong about healthcare.

Just because our rights are secured by government, it does not follow that they must be provided by government. This means that while it is correct to suggest that people have a right to food, it is incorrect to say that the state must provide it. Indeed, flowing from our rights to liberty and life, we have the right to keep the fruits of our labor, through which the marketplace has proved superior in providing access to food, as failed communist states have made clear. This brings us to the heart of what is wrong with declaring health care—ex nihilo—a human right. –The Federalist

Buoyed by voters’ approval of health care taxes in the January special elections and terrified of congressional Republican attempts to undo the Affordable Care Act, Oregon Democrats are looking at health care as a key election issue this year. But not even all Democrats agree. Some say that the federal government (the same government that’s $20 trillion in debt with over $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities) should be in charge of universal healthcare, not the Oregon state government.

Not to mention putting any government in charge of any amount of healthcare leads to the gradual stripping of medical freedom from individuals and the eventual outcome is medical tyranny. It also has no idea how to get the money to provide all Oregonians with “free” healthcare. The League of Women Voters’ president Norman Turrill and social policy coordinator Karen Nibler pointed out that without federal funding for universal health care, Oregon would be on the hook to cover the entire cost.

“The League cannot support an amendment for health care as a right because there is an implied state responsibility to provide the health care for all residents,” Turrill and Nibler wrote. “The state of Oregon has insufficient income to support its current responsibilities and cannot provide the added cost of health care coverage for all its residents at this time.” Imagine that. Things have to be paid for, but surely Oregon voters would just vote away more of their money.  They love tax increases it seems.

Hilarious Fallout from Oregon Gas Pumping Law Reveals Alarming Effects of Gov’t Dependence

oregonMany Oregon residents are panicked after their state has given them a new freedom—it is no longer illegal for them to pump their own gas in certain counties.

Oregon Lifts Ban On Pumping Your Own Gas (Sort Of)

Oregon Lifts Ban On Pumping Your Own Gas (Sort Of)

The state of Oregon has finally loosened restrictions that prohibited residents from pumping their own gas – even though it’s still illegal in most of the state.

Self-service gas stations became legal in 15 rural Oregon counties on Monday.

The new law, HB 2482, decriminalized gas pumping at any time in 15 counties with populations under 40,000, The Bulletin reported.

Discover More Than 1,100 Homesteading Tips And Tricks!

Pumping your own gas is still banned for 90 percent of the population.

Some Oregon residents, though, didn’t take kindly to the new law.

“I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian…..I say NO THANKS!” resident Sandy Franklin posted on Facebook.

The San Francisco Chronicle and Texas TV station KSAT 12 were among the many out-of-state media outlets making fun of some Oregonians’ fear of gas pumps.

“Many people are not capable of knowing how to pump gas and the hazards of not doing it correctly,” Tina Good wrote. “Besides, I don’t want to go to work smelling of gas when I get it on my hands or clothes.”

“I’ve lived in this state all my life and I REFUSE to pump my own gas,” Mike Perone wrote. “I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it. This a service only qualified people should perform. I will literally park at the pump and wait until someone pumps my gas. I can’t even.”

New Jersey is the only other state where filling your gas tank is still a crime.

Flu Outbreak: Deadly Influenza Virus Ravages Oregon And Idaho

flu

Oregon is one of 36 states nationwide reporting high levels of a flu outbreak, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control. More than 120 Oregonians have been hospitalized for the flu in the week leading up to Christmas.

“It’s just one of those years where the CDC is seeing that this strain of flu is only somewhat covered by the vaccine,” Jennifer Radtke, manager for infection prevention at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, told USA Today. Although “somewhat covered” is a bit of a stretch considering the vaccine is only about 10% effective this year. “They’re seeing that it’s anywhere from 10 to 33 percent effective, so anytime there’s a mismatch between the vaccine and the circulating strain of the flu, you’re going to see more cases.”

Ann Thomas, a public health physician for the Oregon Health Authority, said the flu virus mutates so quickly, it’s a “roll of the dice each year.” Some mutations or subtypes, such as H3N2, are more dangerous, especially for people over the age of 65. And even though the vaccine is ineffective, government agents and health officials recommend getting the flu shot.

Last year was Oregon’s worst year on record for the number of hospitalizations, she said. This year appears to be on the same track. As of December 29, 335 cases of influenza-related hospitalizations in the Portland tri-county area alone were reported by the state for the 2017-18 season, Thomas said.

Salem Health’s Infection Prevention Manager Julie Koch said about 25 percent of patients in the region tested for flu showed positive. Koch said they are seeing both of flu types A and B this year. Both are “protected” against in this year’s shot, as well as flu A(H3), which seems to be predominant at this time.

But there is evidence to suggest that the flu shot actually increases the chance of getting sick.

So should you get the shot?  Doctors and the government will tell you that you still need to be vaccinated against the flu every year. But Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, says that getting an annual flu shot is “all a big lie from the vaccine industry.”

Washington state has reported 20 lab-confirmed influenza-related deaths for the 2017-2018 season, as of December 23, and Idaho has seen more flu-related deaths at this point in the season than at the same time in the previous seven seasons. Every year, influenza contributes to an estimated 36,000 deaths in the United States, along with more than 200,000 hospitalizations.

“Homeless Explosion”: Tech Boom, Surging Rents Creating Homeless Crisis On America’s West Coast

This report was originally published by Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge

tents

America’s liberal left coast states count themselves among the most adamant supporters of controversial pieces of legislation intended to support low-income families. From their stunningly high income tax rates to their $15 minimum wage mandates, states like California and Washington are leading the charge on implementing Bernie’s socialist agenda.

Of course, some of the biggest advocates of that socialist agenda are the billionaire leaders of Silicon Valley’s largest tech companies…which is precisely why it’s so ironic that it’s the “tech boom” being enjoyed by those billionaires that has resulted in surging housing prices and what SFGate described earlier today as a “homeless explosion pushing West Coast cities to the brink.”

Housing prices are soaring here thanks to the tech industry, but the boom comes with a consequence: A surge in homelessness marked by 400 unauthorized tent camps in parks, under bridges, on freeway medians and along busy sidewalks. The liberal city is trying to figure out what to do.

“I’ve got economically zero unemployment in my city, and I’ve got thousands of homeless people that actually are working and just can’t afford housing,” said Seattle City Councilman Mike O’Brien. “There’s nowhere for these folks to move to.”

That struggle is not Seattle’s alone. A homeless crisis is rocking the entire West Coast, pushing abject poverty into the open like never before.

Nationally, homelessness has been trending down, partly because governments and nonprofit groups have gotten better at moving people into housing. That’s true in many West Coast cities, too, but the flow the other direction is even faster.

“So everybody who was just hanging on because they had cheap rent, they’re losing that … and they wind up outside,” said Margaret King, director of housing programs for the nonprofit DESC in Seattle. “It’s just exploded.”

According to stats gathered by the Associated Press, some 168,000 people in California, Oregon and Washington count themselves among the growing tally of homeless folks who can’t afford housing.

Official counts taken earlier this year in California, Oregon and Washington show 168,000 homeless people in the three states, according to an AP tally of every jurisdiction in those states that reports homeless numbers to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. That is 19,000 more than were counted in 2015, although the numbers may not be directly comparable because of factors ranging from the weather to new counting methods.

—During the same period, the number of unsheltered people in the three states climbed 18 percent to 105,000.

Rising rents are the main culprit. The median one-bedroom apartment in the San Francisco Bay Area is more expensive than it is in the New York City metro area, for instance.

—Since 2015, at least 10 cities or municipal regions in California, Oregon and Washington have declared emergencies due to the rise of homelessness, a designation usually reserved for natural disasters.

Of course, when home prices double in a matter of just a few years and are seemingly just as volatile as a tech stock circa March 2000, you know there’s a problem.

Meanwhile, as we pointed out a few weeks ago (see: San Diego’s Deadly Hepatitis A Outbreak Turns “Statewide Epidemic” As “Outbreak Could Last Years”), the homeless crisis in California has resulted in an alarming hepatitis A outbreak that started in San Diego and is now on the verge of reaching statewide epidemic status as cases have spread through homeless tent cities all the way north to Sacramento.

California’s outbreak of hepatitis A, already the nation’s second largest in the last 20 years, could continue for many months, even years, health officials said Thursday.

At least 569 people have been infected and 17 have died of the virus since November in San Diego, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles counties, where local outbreaks have been declared.

Dr. Monique Foster, a medical epidemiologist with the Division of Viral Hepatitis at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told reporters Thursday that California’s outbreak could linger even with the right prevention efforts.

“It’s not unusual for them to last quite some time — usually over a year, one to two years,” Foster said.

Of course, as SFGate points out, local governments on the West Coast are responding to the crisis in the best way they know how, namely by raising taxes…

All along the West Coast, local governments are scrambling for answers — and taxpayers are footing the bill.

Voters have approved more than $8 billion in spending since 2015 on affordable housing and other anti-homelessness programs, mostly as tax increases. Los Angeles voters, for example, approved $1.2 billion to build 10,000 units of affordable housing to address a homeless population that’s reached 34,000 people within city limits.

which should only serve to accelerate the number of businesses relocating to Texas.

Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy Goes On Trial For 2014 Armed Standoff With Federal Agents

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy is officially set to go on trial this week for his role in leading a 2014 armed standoff against federal agents that became a rallying point for militia groups challenging U.S. government authority in the American West.  As Reuters notes, jury selection is slated to start later this morning in a U.S. District Court in Las Vegas after being postponed due to the mass shooting on October 1st that claimed 58 lives.

Jury selection in the latest trial was slated to begin on Monday morning in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas. The proceedings were postponed for three weeks after an unrelated mass shooting in Las Vegas on Oct. 1 in which 58 people were killed.

Standing trial with Cliven Bundy, 71, are the two sons, Ammon and Ryan Bundy, who led last year’s Oregon occupation, and a third co-defendant, Ryan Payne, a Montana resident linked by prosecutors to a militia group called Operation Mutual Aid.

A fourth co-defendant, internet blogger and radio host Peter Santilli, pleaded guilty on Oct. 6 to conspiracy and faces a possible six-year prison term.

Six lesser-known participants in the Nevada ranch showdown went on trial as a group earlier this year with two men found guilty.  One of the two men was sentenced to 68 years in prison and the other is still awaiting sentencing.  Two of the four remaining defendants were retried and acquitted, and two others pleaded guilty last week to obstructing a court order. Those two each face up to a year in prison when sentenced.

Bundy

As you may recall, Bundy"s Nevada revolt was sparked by a court-ordered roundup of his cattle by government agents over his refusal to pay fees required to graze the herd on federal land.  Hundreds of supporters, many heavily armed, rallied to Bundy’s cause demanding that his livestock be returned. Outnumbered law enforcement officers ultimately retreated rather than risk bloodshed. No shots were ever fired.

The face-off marked a flashpoint in long-simmering tensions over federal control of public lands in the West and was a precursor to Bundy’s two sons leading an armed six-week occupation of a federal wildlife center in Oregon two years later, in 2016 (see: "Now Is The Time To Stand Up": Armed Activists, Militiamen Seize Federal Wildlife Refuge Office In Oregon).  Here"s a recap of the events leading up the Oregon standoff:

On Saturday, militants seized a remote government outpost following a protest by hundreds of angry citizens.

It all started back in 2001 when Dwight Hammond and his son Steven set fire to leased government land in what they said was an effort to beat back invasive plant species and - ironically - prevent wildfires. They set more fires in 2006 and were later convicted of arson.

Both men served time in prison but a judge eventually determined that their sentences were too light and ordered them back to jail.

"After the peaceful rally was completed today, a group of outside militants drove to the Malheur Wildlife Refuge, where they seized and occupied the refuge headquarters. A collective effort from multiple agencies is currently working on a solution. For the time being please stay away from that area. More information will be provided as it becomes available. Please maintain a peaceful and united front and allow us to work through this situation," Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward said, in a statement. The elder Bundy weighed in as well, noting that the occuption isn"t “exactly what [he] thought should happen." "But I didn’t know what to do,” he added. “You know, if the Hammonds wouldn’t stand, if the sheriff didn’t stand, then, you know, the people had to do something. And I guess this is what they did decide to do. I wasn’t in on that.”

Ammon and Ryan Bundy, along with five other people, were previously charged with criminal conspiracy in the takeover of the Wildlife Refuge though that trial ended with the acquittal last year of all seven.

Entire San Francisco Police Force Will Work The Patriot Prayer Rally

joeygibson

San Francisco city leaders are terrified of violence at a Patriot Prayer Rally. They have dubbed it a “rally by a far-right group” and on Saturday, the city will bring in the entire police force work that day.

When a group that claims its intention is to promote peace, love and unity applies for government permission (a permit) to hold a prayer rally (free speech) in a national park, Democrats like Nancy Pelosi declare them “white supremacists” and a “hate group.” In fact, that was the first reaction after the city approved the permit for the Patriot Prayer Rally in the park. The second response? The city of San Fransisco is rallying their entire police force to make sure those who participate in the prayer rally stay in line.

Patriot Prayer bills itself as a peaceful First Amendment advocacy group that appears in locations where there have been past confrontations over free speech. For example, Patriot Prayer organized the Evergreen State College protest outside Seattle where Gibson was pepper sprayed by counter-protesters. According to their Facebook page, Patriot Prayer is also dedicated to fighting government corruption. Now it makes sense that they’ve been labeled as “extremists” by the left.

Th founder of Patriot Prayer, Joey Gibson explained in a video what his group is actually about, and it isn’t white supremacy.

It sounds like Patriot Prayer is attempting to unite Americans rather than divide. It makes sense now that the government is afraid of this group. Propaganda is very powerful, and there are some very rich and very powerful politicians that rely on a divided America, as Patriot Prayer points out. Leftist groups don’t want unity, as that would be needed to squash the corruption in government. Not even Southern Poverty Law Center is as harsh on the Portland-based Patriot Prayer as the government is. SPLC described  Patriot Prayer as an “alt-right” group and has dubbed this event “Free Speech, Unity and Peace San Francisco,” billing it as “a day of freedom, spirituality, unity, peace, and patriotism!” Oh, the horror!

“Every available officer is expected to be working on Saturday,” said San Francisco Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak. “So no discretionary time off and days off have been canceled.” San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee Lee had a message for those who oppose groups like Patriot Prayer. “We will be doing an alternative rally Saturday here at Civic Center,” Lee said. He is urging people to stay away from the event at Crissy Field.

Gibson says that all he’s trying to do is inform supporters of Antifa (a broad group of left and far left leaning people) about the violent ways of the group to “bring them out of the darkness” and he says he has made converts like Tara “Bern.”

Tara, a Bernie Sanders backer who now lives in Washington state and served in the army, uses “Bern” as her last name on Facebook to “protect my family when I get into politics.”

Tara wrote on Gibson’s Facebook page that she marched in Seattle with Black Lives Matter, Antifa and other leftist groups because she “heard there was a Nazi rally.”

“As we marched past the police towards the rally, my group was yelling and cussing at the officers and at that exact moment,” Tara wrote, “I felt in my heart it was wrong.”

When she finally reached the supposed ‘Nazis,’ she found out they were actually just a free speech group.

Speakers were preaching about love and peace, and my group wanted to rip them to shreds.  I felt in my spirit that what the Antifa were doing by calling everyone to violence, was wrong,” said Tara. –Fox News

All police are on duty for this peaceful rally, but based on evidence, Antifa and far left groups inciting violence are the main cause for concern.

The U.S. Military Is Conducting ‘A Major Military Exercise’ On The Korean Peninsula During The Solar Eclipse

The U.S. Military Is Conducting ‘A Major Military Exercise’ On The Korean Peninsula During The Solar Eclipse | solar-eclipse1 | Faith Military US News

On August 21st, approximately 25,000 U.S. troops will join “tens of thousands” from the South Korean military to conduct a “major military exercise” that is already triggering threats from North Korea. Considering the fact that any sort of provocation could cause a nuclear war to erupt on the Korean peninsula, is this really a wise thing to do? The more research that I do on this upcoming solar eclipse, the stranger things become. When I first started hearing about this eclipse many months ago, I didn’t pay too much attention, but now after looking into it extensively I do believe that it is going to be quite significant.

And I didn’t even know about this major military exercise that will happen during the eclipse until today. The following comes from MSN

The U.S. military is preparing to launch a major military exercise with South Korea in coming days, and faces a dangerous balancing act: How do you reassure allies in the region that you are ready for a war with North Korea without provoking an actual conflict in the process?

The annual Ulchi-Freedom Guardian exercise is scheduled for 10 days beginning Aug. 21, and will include about 25,000 U.S. troops along with tens of thousands of South Koreans. The exercise focuses on defending South Korea against an attack from the north, and each year triggers threats and rebukes from North Korea. But it comes at an especially sensitive time now, following the exchange of a series of threats between President Trump and North Korea.

Another thing that we just found out is that meteorologists are warning that a major hurricane could potentially start approaching the east coast of the United States during the time of the solar eclipse. It has been almost 12 years since a major hurricane made landfall in this country, and so it is very odd that this would be happening all of a sudden.

As I have discussed previously, many believe that the upcoming solar eclipse and the 40 day period that follows may be some type of “warning” for America. And traditionally, this 40 day period has been a time of repentance for the people of Israel

On August 21, a total solar eclipse will mark a trail from the Northwest US to the Southeast Atlantic Seaboard. The eclipse will occur on the last day of the Hebrew month Av, a day known as Yom Kippur Katan, the “small day of repentance.” The morning after the eclipse, Jews will begin blowing the shofar every morning for a 40-day period of profound repentance leading up to Yom Kippur. This corresponds to the 40 days Moses was on Mount Sinai atoning for the Jewish people.

It is also very interesting to note that this eclipse comes exactly 33 days before the “Revelation 12 sign” that will appear in the heavens on September 23rd. The first state that the solar eclipse of August 21st will cross will be Oregon, and many have noted that Oregon is our 33rd state. And the solar eclipse will finish crossing the nation on the 33rd parallel in the state of South Carolina.

So is that just a coincidence?

It might be.

Another extremely interesting fact is that the very first large city that the path of the eclipse will cross is Salem, Oregon. Of course Salem is short for Jerusalem, and it turns out that the path of the eclipse will reach Salem at just about the same time that the sun is setting in Jerusalem.

Another coincidence?

Maybe.

Seven years after the eclipse on August 21st, another one will cross our nation in 2024. Together, the paths of those two eclipses will mark a giant “X” directly over the middle part of the country. And amazingly, the combined time of the totality of those two eclipses will be seven minutes.

And this eclipse is just the beginning. Over the subsequent 40 days there are quite a few critical events that people are buzzing about. The following list comes from one of my previous articles

August 23 – A FEMA exercise known as “EarthEX2017” will simulate “catastrophes such as mega earthquakes, cyber terrorism or high altitude electromagnetic pulse attacks”

An exercise sponsored by FEMA and the U.S. Department of Energy set to take place on August 23 called EarthEX2017 will wargame responses to catastrophes such as mega earthquakes, cyber terrorism or high altitude electromagnetic pulse attacks.

The exercise will simulate a “subcontinent-scale, long duration power outage, with cascading failures of all other infrastructures,” according to the official Earth Ex website.

“Black sky events” are defined as, “Catastrophic occurrences caused by man or nature that bring society to its knees.”

September 1 – This marks the start of FEMA’s annual “National Preparedness Month“.

September 1 – The U.S. State Department’s ban on U.S. citizens traveling into North Korea goes into effect. Many are concerned that this is yet another sign that we are moving toward war with North Korea.

September 11 – This will be the 16th anniversary of 9/11.

September 20 – Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset.

September 21 – The UN International Day Of Peace

September 23 – This is the date of what has become known as “the Revelation 12 sign”. If you are not familiar with this alignment yet, the following is a very brief summary

On September 23rd a unique astronomical alignment of the Sun, Moon, constellation Virgo, constellation Leo, and planets Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, and Venus is going to fulfill this passage from the book of Revelation:

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.

September 24 – Very important national elections will be held in Germany.

September 29 – Yom Kippur begins at sunset, and it concludes on September 30th. Of course September 30th will be the end of a 40 day period that began back on the day of the Great American Eclipse on August 21st.

September 29 – U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says that the debt ceiling will be breached on this day if Congress does not raise it by then.

September 30 – If Congress does not pass a budget by the end of this day, there will be a government shutdown just like we witnessed in 2013.

And all of this comes at a time when anger, hatred and racial tension are reaching a fever pitch in this country.

Let us pray for peace both at home and abroad, because at this moment we are rapidly approaching a boiling point.

Will The August 21st Solar Eclipse Begin A Period Of “40 Days And 40 Nights” For America?

Will The August 21st Solar Eclipse Begin A Period Of “40 Days And 40 Nights” For America? | Moon-Phases-Public-Domain | Faith US News

Monday, we are going to witness one of the strangest events in U.S. history.  This will be the first total solar eclipse to ever be seen only in the United States and nowhere else.  Millions upon millions of people are going to flock to areas of the country where the full eclipse will be visible, but everyone in the continental United States is going to be able to see at least a partial eclipse.  There are lots of very unusual numbers associated with this eclipse, but in this article I want to focus on the number 40, and as this article unfolds you will start to understand why.

Our planet is the only place where you can view a total solar eclipse, and that is because our sun and our moon appear to be the same size in the sky.  Of course the sun is much, much larger than the moon, but because the sun is approximately 400 times farther away than the moon they appear to us to be nearly the same size…

The sun and moon appear the same size in Earth’s sky because the sun’s diameter is about 400 times greater – but the sun is also about 400 times farther away.

At this particular moment in Earth’s history – although the sun’s diameter is about 400 times larger than that of the moon – the sun is also about 400 times farther away. So the sun and moon appear nearly the same size as seen from Earth. And that’s why we on Earth can sometimes witness that most amazing of spectacles, a total eclipse of the sun.

I have previously discussed the fact that the solar eclipse on August 21st is the first day in a 40 day period that ends with Yom Kippur.  But what I haven’t mentioned is that the month of Elul on the Jewish calendar begins on the very next day after the eclipse.

Elul is traditionally known as “the month of repentance”, and it is a time when people all over the world prepare for the High Holy Days

In the Jewish tradition, the month of Elul is a time of repentance in preparation for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The word “Elul” is similar to the root of the verb “search” in Aramaic. The Talmud writes that the Hebrew word “Elul” can be understood to be an acronym for the phrase “Ani L’dodi V’dodi Li” – “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine” (Song of Solomon 6:3). Elul is seen as a time to search one’s heart and draw close to God in preparation for the coming Day of Judgement, Rosh Hashanah, and Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.

It is also believed that the first of Elul was when Moses began a period of 40 days of fasting and prayer on behalf of the people of Israel after they worshipped the golden calf.  The following comes from Rachel Baxter

According to Jewish tradition, the month of Elul is the time that Moses spent on Mount Sinai preparing the second set of tablets after the golden calf incident (Exodus 32; 34:27-28). He ascended on Rosh Chodesh Elul and descended on the 10th of Tishri, at the end of Yom Kippur, when repentance was complete. Elul marked the beginning of a period of 40 days that Moses prayed for God to forgive the people for worshipping the golden calf.

Of course the number 40 comes up time after time throughout the Scriptures.  Here are a bunch more examples

In the Old Testament, when God destroyed the earth with water, He caused it to rain 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:12). After Moses killed the Egyptian, he fled to Midian, where he spent 40 years in the desert tending flocks (Acts 7:30). Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights (Exodus 24:18). Moses interceded on Israel’s behalf for 40 days and 40 nights (Deuteronomy 9:1825). The Law specified a maximum number of lashes a man could receive for a crime, setting the limit at 40 (Deuteronomy 25:3). The Israelite spies took 40 days to spy out Canaan (Numbers 13:25). The Israelites wandered for 40 years (Deuteronomy 8:2-5). Before Samson’s deliverance, Israel served the Philistines for 40 years (Judges 13:1). Goliath taunted Saul’s army for 40 days before David arrived to slay him (1 Samuel 17:16). When Elijah fled from Jezebel, he traveled 40 days and 40 nights to Mt. Horeb (1 Kings 19:8).

And virtually everyone knows that the Lord Jesus was tempted for 40 days in the wilderness, and that there were 40 days between His resurrection and His ascension.

In addition, I already noted yesterday that the prophet Jonah gave the people of Nineveh 40 days to repent before judgment would strike.

It is interesting to note that there is a town known as “Nineveh” in the United States as well.  On Monday, 93 percent of the sun will be blotted out by the moon in that little town, and 7 years later the eclipse of 2024 will blot out 100 percent of the sun in that same town.

Many will dismiss the things that I have been pointing out about these eclipses as “coincidences”, but it is imperative to remember that these sorts of solar eclipses are actually very rare.  The following comes from Faithwire

But, with that said, there are some intriguing and defining elements surrounding the coming Aug. 21 event, including the fact that it is the first time since 1257 that the entirety of the total eclipse is exclusively viewable from inside the U.S.

Parade noted that the 1257 eclipse went over the Hawaiian Islands — a fact that some might say differentiates it from what’s to come this month. With that in mind, to find a comparable eclipse, the outlet said one must go all the way back more than 1,500 years to July 29, 436 (yes, the year 436). And America won’t see another such total solar eclipse that is viewable only in the U.S. until Jan. 25, 2316, when anyone currently reading this story is long gone.

For centuries, many have believed that a solar eclipse is a sign that judgment is coming upon a nation.  I don’t know if that is what this solar eclipse means, but Jesus did warn us to watch for signs in the sun, moon and stars just prior to His return.

So does this solar eclipse start a period of “40 days and 40 nights” for America?

I don’t know, but God definitely likes to use the number 40, and throughout history He has repeatedly used His calendar to get our attention.

New Law Lets Police Confiscate Guns “Without Due Process” If Someone Reports You

guns

A new law in Oregon could lead to residents having all of their guns confiscated based on a single complaint, raising concerns about the possibility of corruption if false complaints are used to strip law-abiding citizens of their right to defend themselves.

Senate Bill 719, which is defined as one that Creates process for obtaining extreme risk protection order prohibiting person from possessing deadly weapon when court finds that person presents risk in near future, including imminent risk, of suicide or causing injury to another person” was signed into law by Democratic Gov. Kate Brown on Wednesday.

The confiscation of an individual’s firearms can be pursued through the filing of an “Extreme Risk Protection Order,” which is submitted to a judge in civil court by a police officer or a concerned family or household member.

Advertisment

“Requires court to order respondent to surrender deadly weapons and concealed handgun license within 24 hours of service of initial order, and immediately upon service of continued or renewed order. Provides for law enforcement officer serving order to request immediate surrender of deadly weapons and concealed handgun license and authorizes law enforcement officer to take possession of surrendered items.”

During the legislative process, Brown expressed her support for the bill, calling it “a common-sense, life-saving bill that will help protect Oregon’s women and children by closing the ‘Boyfriend Loophole,’ preventing convicted stalkers from buying or possessing guns, and keeping guns out of the wrong hands.”

The bill passed in the Oregon State Senate by a vote of 17-11 in May, and in the House by a vote of 31-20 in July, before it reached Brown’s desk in August. Once it goes into effect, if an Extreme Risk Protection Order is granted by a judge, the resident in question could legally lose his or her right to possess or purchase firearms of ammo for one year.

While suspects have 30 days to request a hearing in an attempt to regain possession of their seized firearms once an order has been issued, and while individuals who file fake protection orders could face up to one year in prison, gun rights advocates still are not convinced that this new law will eradicate gun violence, even in domestic situations.

In a statement, the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action argued that Extreme Risk Protection Orders “could be obtained by a law enforcement officer, family member, or household member in an ex parte hearing to deprive someone of their Second Amendment rights without due process of the law.”

“By allowing a law enforcement officer, family member, or household member to seek the ERPO, SB 719A would allow people who are not mental health professionals, who may be mistaken, and who may only have minimal contact with the respondent to file a petition with the court and testify on the respondent’s state of mind. This ex parte order, which strips the accused of their Second Amendment rights, would be issued by a judge based on the brief statement of the petitioner. The accused would not be afforded the chance to appear in court to defend themselves against the allegations when the ERPO is issued. These orders may be issued without any allegations of criminal behavior.”

The new law in Oregon was inspired by a law that went into effect in California in January 2016. Assembly Bill No. 1014 authorized “gun violence restraining orders” which allowed law enforcement to seize the firearms of an individual if a judge “finds that there is reasonable cause to believe that the subject of the petition poses an immediate and present danger of causing personal injury to himself, herself, or another by having in his or her custody or control, owning, purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm.”

While there are a number of problems with the new trend of gun confiscation laws, one of the most glaring issues is that a “protection order” can be filed by a police officer who has had minimal contact with the suspect in question, and if it is granted by the judge, the suspect will have his or her firearms confiscated immediately, and the only way to return them is to go through a lengthy court process—eliminating one of the most basic principles of due process.

Oregon Sets Major Precedent—Will No Longer Treat Drug Possession as a Felony

oregon

Oregon — A wise person once said that insanity can be defined by doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. If we apply this definition to the war on drugs, then every proponent of it needs to be locked in a psychiatric hospital. Not only has kidnapping and caging people for possessing arbitrary substances not worked — but it’s made it far worse.

Using government force, ie the police, to curb addiction has had disastrous results. Not only has the drug war given the United States the world record for the largest prison population but it’s also given rise to one hellish police state. Luckily, however, a very small group of bureaucrats has been able to chip away at the drug war, by slowly rolling back the laws which allow it to continue.

Oregon is one such place.

A new bill, signed into law this week by Oregon Gov. Kate Brown makes personal and possession of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other hard drugs a misdemeanor instead of a felony.

Oregon now joins a tiny minority of other states that have stopped throwing drug addicts in cages.

Naturally, the ardent drug warriors are furious for several reasons. First off, the District Attorney, Rick Wesenberg said, “The bottom line is that it gives drug users and abusers more freedom to break the law with less consequences.”

Wesenberg is one of those individuals who fit the definition of insanity and thinks that continuing to kidnap and cage people for using drugs may some day have a different result.

“Douglas County is in opioid crisis, and in a meth crisis, and in a heroin crisis,” Wesenberg said. “The governor and the Legislature just blunted law enforcement’s most effective tool in combating drug addiction.”

If this tool was so effective, why — over the last 5 decades — has it failed? Every. Single. Time.

Wesenberg was joined in his fear mongering by Linn County District Attorney Doug Marteeny, who said, “To change the classification of this behavior from a felony to a misdemeanor is tantamount to telling our school children that tomorrow it will be less dangerous to use methamphetamine than it is today.”

Both Wesenberg and Marteeny, however, are very misguided. Research shows — as in the case of Portugal — decriminalizing drugs and treating addicts instead of caging them, can produce paradigm shattering results.

Sadly, however, instead of helping people, who clearly have physical and mental addictions and need help, most state governments still lock people in cages when they catch them with drugs.

However, research — according to many law enforcement officials — shows that the cost of incarceration, especially for repeat drug offenders, is far higher than simply treating their addiction.

The good news is that people like Wesenberg and Marteeny are quickly finding themselves obsolete. Law enforcement across the country are realizing that treatment — not cages — curbs the problem of addiction far more successfully. This includes cops in Oregon too.

As Oregon’s News-Review notes, among the bill’s supporters, are the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police and the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association, which said felony convictions include unintended consequences, including barriers to housing and employment. But the two groups, in a letter to a state senator who backed the bill, said the new law “will only produce positive results if additional drug treatment resources accompany this change in policy.”

The good news in this regard is that cops and local governments are changing their policy — and it is working.

These changes in policy have led to the creation of the Angel Program.

The concept of helping addicts instead of criminalizing them is such a success, it’s been adopted by 200 police agencies in 28 states.

Aside from the angel program, stopping the war on drugs is also having a heavy effect on reducing opioid overdoses.

As TFTP has reported at length, states with legal cannabis see far fewer overdoses than those who cage people for the plant.

Solutions to this epidemic exist, but in order for them to be successful, government must legalize freedom and admit that the war on drugs is an epic failure. While things may seem bleak, these tiny changes are already beginning to have a major positive effect.

Soon enough, the dinosaurs who continue to push the drug war will be seen as the tyrants they are. To all those in law enforcement, you will do well to place yourself on the right side of history — which, most assuredly, does not involve kidnapping, caging, and killing people in a failed war to control what those people do with their own bodies.

The Underground, Hidden House That Cost Only $100 To Build — ‘It’s Like A Little Fort’

The Underground, Hidden House That Cost $100 To Build -- ‘It’s Like A Little Fort’

Part hobo, part hobbit and part trendsetter, Dan Price was living the tiny house lifestyle long before the tiny house movement gained momentum.

A professional news photographer for 10 years, Price says he began his search for a simple lifestyle back in 1990. He found what he was looking for when he discovered a two-acre riverfront property for rent in Joseph, Oregon. For $100 a year, he enjoys a meadow, a spring, river access and the several tiny buildings and dwellings he has created over the years.

“I have wanted to do this since I was 12 years old,” says Price in a YouTube interview with Kirsten Dirksen. Fascinated with books like My Side of the Mountain and The Hobbit, Price says that he built a log cabin when he was 12 and knew that he “never really wanted to be an adult.”

“When you are a kid there is no stress,” he explains. “Security is a myth. You can get hit by a car tomorrow. If you don’t worry about security, then your life becomes way more adventuresome.”

After living three years in a teepee on the picturesque property in western Oregon, Price lived in a tent for several more years before he decided to build a square wood building that he describes as a “beach shack.”

‘Miracle Oil Maker’ Lets You Make Fresh Nut Oils Within Minutes!

When thieves broke into the house and stole his photography equipment, however, Price took the structure down and decided to live in a circular underground dwelling he had created behind the building.

Since then, he has stayed put in his self-proclaimed “hobbit hole.” At night, deer walk on his roof.

“It’s like a little fort,” he explains, adding that he likes to build small things. He leaves his shoes on a mat by the doorstep and crawls through a hobbit-like front door. The main room features walls and ceiling built of pine and a large skylight that can open for ventilation.

Story continues below video

Price is quick to point out that his home stays cool in the summer and is easy to heat in the winter.

“When it is 30 degrees [Fahrenheit] outside, it is 50 degrees in here,” he says, explaining that a small ceramic heater is all he needs to bring the inside temperature up to 65 degrees. “In the summer when it is hot outside, it feels like there is air conditioning in here.”

Price reaches his bedroom though a large circular hole in the wall. The cozy-looking room features some of his artwork and photographs, a window that can serve as a door, a bookshelf and a two-inch mattress on the floor.

“I feel like everything in my life is simplified,” says Price. “I don’t really like beds, sofas or chairs. … I really like editing things down.”

Even though he has few belongings, Price admits that he is always looking for ways to have even less. Pointing to his small stack of clothing, he says he has “way too many shirts,” for example.

He cooks very little – maybe a can of soup or some rice now and then – relying on a diet of raw fruits and vegetables and grains. Instead of using a table, he places his meal on a cutting board set across his lap.

Price applied for and received city permits for electricity to his underground home and for the composting outhouse he created on the property. “I was kind of grandfathered in,” he admits, “but I keep things really pristine, so no one is complaining.”

Price gets his water from a spring on the property and from the river. He built a sauna and a shower structure near the river, and he has a separate underground studio, which he built entirely from wood and bricks that were set to be thrown away by builders. He estimates that his studio cost him about $100 to build, with the cost mostly coming from the skylight in the center of the ceiling.

He says he was influenced in his home and studio design by his visits to kivas in the Southwest. “I decided that was how I wanted to live,” he says of the Pueblo Indian architecture.

The studio houses Price’s collection of the 77 issues of Moonlight Chronicles, the magazine he published for about 20 years that offers details on his life, his travels and his philosophy. He no longer publishes the magazine, which was sponsored by a shoe company, saying that his simple lifestyle affords him the opportunity to live his dream.

“I like the idea of not having any furniture and of having a (living) space so small. When you think about the space you live in – you eat, you sleep and you read a book — you don’t really need a big house.”

He says his ideas for a pared-down way of life came from books and from his days of backpacking. He calls himself a “neo-hobo,” explaining with a laugh, “I’m sort of a hobo, but a classy hobo maybe.”

“The secret to life is having few things but having those few things be really special,” he says.

With that philosophy in mind, his home is filled with small treasures, ranging from photos of his family glued to a lampshade, to some hand-made gifts from his children, to his handpan, a steel drum he enjoys playing.

“Everything I do is a joy,” says Price, “and that is the way it ought to be.”

WATCH: Cops Drag Wheelchair Bound Man Out of Car, Force Him to the Ground

wheelchair

Stayton, OR — Police in Stayton are under fire for what some have said is an insensitive and heartless arrest, after a video emerged showing their officers forcing a disabled man out of his car and aggressively shoving him face down on the ground.

Robert Twede, who requires a wheelchair to move around, was arrested earlier this month for driving three blocks to his home after police targeted him for a routine traffic stop that he says happens all too often. While the reason for the original stop is not entirely clear, Twede notes that he has been targeted and pulled over by these officers before, right by his house. He says that he usually drives back to his home because it is easier for him to get to his wheelchair.

A portion of this arrest on July 14 was captured on video. Before being ripped from his vehicle, he pleaded with the officers to retrieve his wheelchair and allow him to comply with their orders. They refused, and continued to insist that he “get out of the car.”

Twede described the incident as well as the ongoing harassment he has received. He admitted that he did not immediately pull over when police used their lights and sirens to effect a traffic stop. Feeling more comfortable getting out of his vehicle on his home turf (knowing he can manage his chair there), he proceeded three blocks to his residence.

“I didn’t elude the police when they got behind me. What I did do is called failure to yield to an emergency vehicle…I drove straight to my address didn’t break the speed limit, used turn signals, and stopped at all stop signs…I pulled into my driveway and turned off my car.”

Twede wants people to know he has no criminal record and is not a felon. He says if he had broken the law, he would have been prepared to accept responsibility for his actions.

“I have no record I’m not a felon and with that being said I wasn’t resisting them arresting me. I’m a grown (sic) man and I know when I break the law and I have no problem facing the music if that is the case.”

He says he was complying with all of the officers’ commands up until they tried to pull him out of the vehicle through the driver’s side window.

“The only reason I was resisting is because I don’t feel that when I have my hands out the window fully cooperating that I should be pulled out through my window, which is exactly what both officers tried to do.”

It appears from Twede’s comments that he was only asking to be treated with the same dignity and respect that police officers seem to expect others to demonstrate to the badge. He said the officers never once attempted to help him retrieve his wheelchair from the back seat—a device both officers, he alleges, knew that he needed.

“Both cops knowing that I have to have my chair to get around didn’t even think twice about getting my chair out of my backseat where it was in plain view or allow my son who was pleading with them to get it out. Instead, the officers thought it was necessary to pull me out and force me over onto my stomach which I can’t do and is documented in my health records and backed by my doctor.”

He said the craziest thing happened after the officers apparently violated his rights under the Americans With Disabilities Act. They then assembled his wheelchair and placed him in it. That’s right. They potentially risked his health by placing him on his stomach and then, finally, did what he had originally asked them to do.

Twede said his daughter was there to film the encounter. While he lamented the fact she had to witness it all, he appeared thankful she was there to document the alleged abuse.

Officer Altabef is reportedly one of the arresting officers. Twede says he has endured several instances of police using excessive force on him but only now has proof.

“I’ll have you know that since I have been in my wheelchair I have had to deal with the police using excessive force 3 times and this time my poor daughter was smart enough to catch it on video.”

Twede said harassment by Stayton police started in April when Altabef pulled him over and claimed his license plate light bulb was burned out.

As The Free Thought Project has documented, police will use minor violations to create probable cause to search a vehicle and potentially file charges against motorists.

As for his criminal history, Twede said he is just a motorist like everyone else who occasionally violates traffic laws. “If you consider traffic violations to be a criminal offense then habitual I am, ” he said.

The video Twede’s daughter recorded speaks for itself. The point at which the video begins is when Twede admitted he did not immediately pull over. He proceeded to his home, where he can presumably retrieve his wheelchair as he is accustomed to doing.

From his comments, we also know the police already attempted to drag him through the opened driver’s window. From the point at which the video begins, we can hear Twede yelling for the officers to retrieve his chair.

The officers can be heard screaming what appears to be profanities at Twede, before dragging the man out of his car, and placing him on the ground.

Twede said he believes Altabef knew who they were dealing with and that he had certain medical needs that required special attention. He also said it wasn’t the first time police were forced to follow him home.

Twede then addressed Stayton police directly in his post:

“If I’m going to jail fine. If you feel I alluded you, then fine. But how does that justify me not being able to use my legs and needing my chair and just ripping me out of the car anyway, after I clearly told them that I would cooperate if they could let me have my chair which they ended up doing anyway?”

State Snatches Kids Because Parents’ IQs Are Too Low

State Snatches Kids Because Parents’ IQs Are Too Low

In a controversial move that is gaining national attention, state social workers in Oregon took a couple’s children away because their IQs are lower than average.

Amy Fabbrini and Eric Ziegler can only see their children in chaperoned visits because the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) thinks they are not smart enough to be parents.

“They are saying they are intellectually incapable without any guidelines to go by,” Sherrene Hagenbach, who formerly worked as a volunteer mediator for DHS and knows the couple, told The Oregonian.

Social workers took their three-year-old son Christopher and a baby named Hunter away earlier this year, The Oregonian reported. DHS cited Ziegler’s IQ of 66 and Fabbrini’s IQ of 72 as a reason for the removal. The average IQ is between 90 and 100.

Turn Drive Time Into Fun-Filled, History Time With Your Kids!

No allegations of abuse or neglect have been made. Instead their “limited cognitive abilities that interfere with (their) ability to safely parent the child,” was cited as the reason for the removal.

Fabbrini and Ziegler have done everything social workers have asked. They took classes on parenting, first aid, CPR and nutrition, yet their children are still in a foster home.

“It doesn’t seem like it’s good enough for them,” Ziegler said. “They’re saying, ‘Who would parent Christopher better, the foster parents or the parents?’ is basically what they’re going on.”

Said Haenbach, who supports the parents, “They’re saying that this foster care provider is better for the child because she can provide more financially, provide better education, things like that. If we’re going to get on that train, Bill Gates should take my children. There’s always somebody better than us, so it’s a very dangerous position to be in.”

Not even a state senator, Republican Tim Knopp, could help. He backs the couple.

“My impression of them is that they were just like any other couple, and they were trying to be successful in life, just like anyone else would be, and they wanted to be together as a family,” Knopp said. “I didn’t see any issues when I met with them that would automatically disqualify them from being good parents.”

Said Ziegler’s aunt, Lara Turner: “I honestly don’t understand why they can’t have their children. I go to the grocery store and I see other people with their children and they’re standing up in the grocery cart … and I think, how come they get to keep their children? How do they decide whose child they’re going to take and whose child can stay?”
