Treasury Curve Inverts As Trump Slams Dems For Forcing Shutdown

Early in the week, anxiety over a government shutdown appeared to ebb as the short-term Treasury Bill market began to "normalize", but following the tax-reform "win", President Trump is accusing Democrats of trying to force a government shutdown...

...And the Bill curve has shifted notably more inverted...

While there are obviously year-end liquidity impacts involved too, it appears market anxiety is building as perception grows that Dems may move to stunt the Republicans" momentum from their "victory" on taxes.

Chicago Commissioner Pleads With UN To Deploy Foreign Troops On US Soil

Under the guise of stopping violent crime, a County Commissioner in Cook County, Illinois, went to New York City late last week to request that the United Nations deploy foreign troops in Chicago to tackle the city’s “quiet genocide.”

Perhaps, the geopolitical instability on the Korean Penisula and in the Middle East is just one giant distraction. The real action is currently unfolding in America’s out of control inner cities, such as Chicago. There is a pattern emerging across the United States, where inner cities such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Oakland, Mephesis, and St. Louis are experiencing out of control violent crime with local officials paralyzed.

Earlier this year, President Trump threatened Chicago with sending in the Feds, after crime statistics warned of an alarming surge in violent crime.

Some politicians in Chicago have recommended deploying the National Guard to aid in combating gun violence, but Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin went straight to the United Nations last week and pleaded with Oscar Fernandez-Taranco of Argentina, the U.N. Assistant Secretary-General for deployement of foreign troops on United States soil. Boykin is seeking international assistance with “horrific levels of shootings” and violent crime mainly on the West Side and South Side communities.

Boykin said at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday, “I’m hoping to appeal to the U.N. to actually come to Chicago and meet with victims of violence, and maybe even possibly help out in terms of peacekeeping efforts, because I think it’s so critical for us to make sure that these neighborhoods are safe.”

Boykin told Inc. before his meeting, “the United Nations has a track record of protecting minority populations. There was tribal warfare between the Tutsis and the Hutus in Africa, and they deployed peacekeeping troops there to help save those populations and reduce the bloodshed.”

“We have to do something — black people in Chicago make up 30 percent of the population but 80 percent of those who are killed by gun violence,” he added.

Throughout 2017, President Trump has been fairly vocal about the carnage in Chicago. Last week, he addressed FBI grads in Quantico, Virginia, and asked one simple question: “What The Hell Is Going On In Chicago?” (See: “What The Hell Is Going On In Chicago” And Other Highlights From Trump’s Speech To FBI Grads)

Courtesy of stats from HeyJackAss!, here’s a quick recap of “what the hell is going on in Chicago.”  In aggregate, 3,451 people have been shot so far in 2017, or roughly 1 person every 2.4 hours, and 651 have died from there injuries.

Per the chart below, the violent crime is a persistent cloud over the city of Chicago with shootings and murders happening on a daily occurrence.

Meanwhile, this long-term chart shows why Boykin has met with the United States for the assistance of foreign troops to occupy Chicago. It’s the sheer velocity in homicides in recent years which has local officials frightened.

And lastly, “we can’t wait until the mayor comes up with another 1,000 police to try to make the streets safer. Quite frankly, the people want to be safe right now in their homes and their neighborhoods, and we want to make sure that they’re safe,” Boykin said.

Meanwhile in Maryland, just outside the hellhole which is known as Baltimore, an entire unit of heavily armed United Nations vehicles sits behind a mysterious Kellogg Cereal Plant (as of September 2017).

Investors "Buy The Dip" After Trump Slams Wells Fargo"s "Bad Acts"

In an out-of-the-blue tweet perhaps aimed at reassuring his base that his not "with the banks", President Trump took aim at Wells Fargo this morning...

And while the initial reaction was modest, the volume is very heavy...

But it did not take long for dip-buying algos to emerge...

Is Trump trying to make nice with Pocahantas after all?

Trump Twitter Meltdown: President Goes To War With FBI, Urges Suing ABC For "Bad Reporting"

This weekend may set a new record for number of Trump tweets and retweets. Starting with his congratulations on the Senate"s passage of Tax Reform, Trump has interacted no less than 17 times with his social platform, although things seemed to accelerate following his Saturday noon tweet in which Trump responded to Flynn"s plea agreement in which the president said that "I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!"

The odd wording of that tweet - that he knew Flynn had lied to the FBI at the time of his firing - prompted many to speculate that it was prima facie admission of obstruction and interference - something Mueller is tasked with proving - and led to the unprecedented comment by Trump"s personal lawyer, John Dowd, who said he drafted the president"s Saturday morning. Dowd told ABC News he wrote those words and had done so in a "sloppy" manner. A second source familiar with the matter corroborated his account.

The reason for Dowd"s comment is that Trump"s tweet seemed to "add a potentially explosive new dimension" to the ongoing investigation, because as ABC notes, if what Trump, or his lawyer, said is true, why then would Trump ask the FBI director to go easy on Flynn, as former FBI Director James Comey later testified? The message set off renewed talk of potential evidence of obstruction of justice.

As ABC further adds this morning,  Dowd"s acknowledgment of involvement in the tweet means it is not clear whether the president did in fact know Flynn had lied to the FBI at the time of firing him -- though one source familiar with the president’s thinking said Trump did not know. Administration officials have declined to comment on that matter, as well.

The unusual clarification by Dowd –-revealing that someone other than Trump himself had authored a tweet from his official account - could also be an attempt to tamp down on potential legal exposure from the message.

The president did not respond to shouted questions Saturday evening about Flynn’s firing as he returned home from campaign fundraisers in New York City.

While we expect Trump"s Saturday tweet to once again shape the news cycle for the next several days, at least until the inevitable and "distracting" war with North Korea finally begins, even as the debate rages what tweets does Trump personally publish and which are drafted by his lawyers, in what appears to have been an attempt to distract from the "confession" fallout, Trump went on a veritable twitter rampage on Saturday night, which has since continued into Sunday morning.

Late on Saturday, Trump launched a new attack on Hillary and the Justice Department over Hillary"s mishandling of emails, writing, "So General Flynn lies to the FBI and his life is destroyed, while Crooked Hillary Clinton, on that now famous FBI holiday “interrogation” with no swearing in and no recording, lies many times...and nothing happens to her? Rigged system, or just a double standard?" He then continued: "Many people in our Country are asking what the “Justice” Department is going to do about the fact that totally Crooked Hillary, AFTER receiving a subpoena from the United States Congress, deleted and “acid washed” 33,000 Emails? No justice!"

He then proceeded with the previously discussed slam of ABC News" Brian Ross, congratulating the network for "suspending Brian Ross for his horrendously inaccurate and dishonest report on the Russia, Russia, Russia Witch Hunt. More Networks and “papers” should do the same with their Fake News!"

And while that concluded the Saturday night tweetstorm, Trump was back this morning and angrier than ever, when he discovered the story about the "tainted" FBI agent, Peter Strzok, who as we reported yesterday, was said to have been "removed" from the Mueller probe (and who previously was tasked with investigating the Clinton email server), after anti-Trump text messages were discovered in his communications to a fellow FBI officer, with whom he had an extramarital affair.

Trump started by retweeting IBD"s Paul Sperry, who recapped the situation as follows:

BREAKING: top FBI investigator for Mueller--PETER STRZOK--busted sending political text messages bashing Trump & praising Hillary during the 2016 campaign. STRZOK actually LED the Hillary email probe & recommended clearing her; then was tapped to SUPERVISE the Trump Russia probe!

Wray needs to clean house. Now we know the politicization even worse than McCabe"s ties to McAuliffe/Clinton. It also infected his top investigator PETER STRZOK, who sent texts bashing Trump & praising Hillary during campaign. Strzok led Hillary probe & supervised Trump probe!

In response, Trump then lashed out at the FBI in general, and Comey in particular, with a barrage of of tweets, the most comprehensive of which was "Report: “ANTI-TRUMP FBI AGENT LED CLINTON EMAIL PROBE”  Now it all starts to make sense!"

preceded by "Tainted (no, very dishonest?) FBI “agent’s role in Clinton probe under review.” Led Clinton Email probe. @foxandfriends Clinton money going to wife of another FBI agent in charge."...

Ultimately, Trump slammed of both the agency and its former head "After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters - worst in History! But fear not, we will bring it back to greatness."

And speaking of Comey, it was before 6 am when Trump, seeming concerned about the implications of the Dowd tweet snafu, tweeted "I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn. Just more Fake News covering another Comey lie!"

The BBC"s Paul Danager perhaps summarized the ongoing fracture in the realtionship between Trump and the FBI: "Not since Nixon has a US President been this at war with the FBI. It’s destructive for both arms of government."

It still remains to be seen who will win this war.

Trump wasn"t done, however, and shortly after his last tweet on the FBI, he shifted attention to last week"s "Kate"s Law" ruling in San Francisco, tweeting "Such a total miscarriage of Justice in San Francisco!"...

... before reverting once again to the ABC reporting snafu, urging "People who lost money when the Stock Market went down 350 points based on the False and Dishonest reporting of Brian Ross of @ABC News (he has been suspended), should consider hiring a lawyer and suing ABC for the damages this bad reporting has caused - many millions of dollars!"

And since Gen. Kelly has clearly given up any hope of controlling Trump"s twitter account, we can only expect more, perhaps self-destructive, tweets to come out as Trump"s tweetstorm appears to be nowhere near over.

White House Lashes Out At San Francisco, Democrats After "Disgraceful" Kate Steinle Case Verdict

Following yersterday"s stunning "not guilty" verdict in the case against the illegal immigrant felon who admitted to shooting and killing Kate Steinle, social media erupted in outrage, AG Sessions issued a statement and President Trump tweeted his disapproval, followed up with this...

However, this morning, The White House has stepped up the rhetoric with a biting statement:

Statement from the Press Secretary on the Kate Steinle Case

Yesterday"s verdict in San Francisco underscores the danger to public safety when our Nation fails to enforce its laws. Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal immigrant and convicted felon who had been deported from the United States five times. He, and countless other criminal illegal immigrants like him, should never be allowed to threaten our citizens.

It"s more important now than ever for Congress to secure our borders and provide the resources, including more ICE officers, needed to deport criminal illegal aliens and to finally stop sanctuary city policies that cause needless loss of innocent life.

Politicians who fail to address these needs share responsibility for preventable crimes committed against innocent Americans.

Had San Francisco enforced our Nation"s immigration laws, the Steinle family would be celebrating this holiday with all of their loved ones.

Fascinatingly, we have yet to hear anyone defending this decision - apart from the defense attorney.

Blowback: CNN Pushes Plan To "Ban The Term "Fake News""

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via InfoWars.com,

CNN is now pushing an effort to “ban the term fake news” after the slogan became synonymous with CNN itself thanks to President Donald Trump.

In a CNN opinion piece written by Hossein Derakhshan and Claire Wardle, who are affiliated with the globalist Council of Europe, the authors argue that the term “fake news” has “become meaningless” and lost its power because politicians (primarily Donald Trump) have hijacked it as a way to “undermine” the media establishment.

The authors decry the fact that many people now believe the mainstream media peddles “fabricated stories” and that information monopolies are being challenged by the ability for “anyone in the world” to have a platform.

Complaining that “less powerful agents can harm large institutions or established individuals,” Derakhshan and Wardle warn that trust in institutions is declining and that only through intervention at the level of “public education” (ie indoctrination) can this be reversed.

Of course, the real reason media elites want to clamp down on the term “fake news” is because its original intention, to smear and discredit opponents of Hillary Clinton, right of center media outlets, and people who distrust the mainstream media, has completely backfired.

This was illustrated yet again by Donald Trump’s tweet earlier today when he suggested that a “fake news trophy” should be awarded to the network that has been responsible for the most inaccurate reporting.

“Fake news” was one of many excuses trotted out after November last year to push the narrative that President Trump’s election was somehow illegitimate.

In reality, a major Stanford University study found that “even the most widely circulated fake news stories were seen by only a small fraction of Americans,” and that the most widely believed fake news stories were those that benefited Hillary Clinton.

Fake news had virtually no impact on the election, but the establishment media weaponized the term as part of an agenda to silence and censor voices of dissent, including media platforms, that had opposed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

In addition, mainstream media news coverage in the weeks leading up to the election was 91% negative towards Trump, according to a study by the Media Research Center.

The Podesta emails also revealed how mainstream journalists were completely in bed with the Clinton campaign and even ran stories by them before publication.

The “fake news” narrative has completely backfired on the political establishment and the media because it has acted as a boomerang, showing the mainstream media to be the most consistently dishonest entity of all.

Is it any wonder therefore that the political class is now so keen to retire the term altogether?

Bush-Era Intel Chief Blasts Trump: "If This Is What We Are, Then I"ve Wasted 40 Years"

President Donald Trump stirred up yet another twitter shitstorm over the weekend when he once again slammed his favorite fake news network – CNN – for using its international arm, CNN International, to spread fake news across the world.

At the same time, the president praised Fox News, claiming his favorite news network is “much more important” in the US.

The exasperation this tweet provoked cannot be understated, as liberals and anti-Trump conservatives joined forces to blast the president for his blatant disregard for the first amendment (to be fair, Trump said nothing about shuttering CNN or revoking its license to operate). But one voice that cut through the noise was that of Michael Hayden, a former general who ran the NSA and then the CIA under President George W Bush and has directed national intelligence agencies under the previous three presidents, as the Hill pointed out.

Hayden blasted Trump for his “outrageous assault” on the first amendment, saying “if this is who we are or who we are becoming, I have wasted 40 years of my life."

Of course, the hypocrisy embedded in Hayden’s rebuttal is nothing short of galling: He served in the Bush administration and was complicit in deceiving the American people to justify invading Iraq, a decision that has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and down chaos in a region that persists to this day.

Of course, the criticism didn’t stop Trump from bashing CNN again this morning.

He also criticized MSNBC’s Morning Joe, a perennial target of the president"s ire (remember the infamous Mika Brzezinski facelift tweet?).

Of course, Trump also took time out from his holiday vacation to blast the Democrats and their single-minded focus on the Russia collusion narrative, which elicited this entertaining response from former US Attorney Preet Bharara.

"Jones Would Be A Disaster" - Trump Tweets "The Last Thing We Need In Alabama" Is A Democrat

President Trump has been active on Twitter this morning, taking aim at the Alabama Senate race...

President Trump"s de facto endorsement of Roy Moore comes after his comments last week that "We don"t need a liberal Democrat in that seat ... [Moore] totally denies [the accusations]."

And as Duane Norman from the Free Market Shooter blog explains, it is the extreme platform of Roy Moore that has been lost amid the Roy Moore saga.

In spite of an endorsement by President Trump, Luther Strange was defeated by Roy Moore in the Republican primary on September 26th for Alabama’s special Senate election, to fill the seat vacated by now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Doug Jones (left), Roy Moore (right)

On November 9th, allegations against Moore began to surface in The Washington Post, alleging that Moore engaged in sexual misconduct with minors in the 1970s:

Leigh Corfman says she was 14 years old when an older man approached her outside a courtroom in Etowah County, Ala. She was sitting on a wooden bench with her mother, they both recall, when the man introduced himself as Roy Moore.

It was early 1979 and Moore — now the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat — was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. He struck up a conversation, Corfman and her mother say, and offered to watch the girl while her mother went inside for a child custody hearing.

The allegations quickly began to dominate national headlines; questions began to circulate regarding the conspicuous timing of the accusations, which surfaced with very similar timing to those against President Trump in his election.  After holding a substantial lead, Moore’s polling took a nosedive, as Fox News reported on November 18th…

Alabama hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1992. But a Fox News poll taken in the wake of the Moore allegations and released Thursday shows Jones leading Moore 50 percent to 42 percent.

…and the betting odds for a Moore win mirrored Moore’s polling drop.  Though we would normally use Betfair’s exchange for betting odds on this election…

…Betfair’s exchange has extremely thin depth, with only $57,900 wagered on the election, likely due to Betfair’s European location, and this election being a US event.  Instead, we will turn to Predictit, a US-based prediction market “for politics”.  After trading around 90% prior to the allegations, Moore’s odds took a hit, reaching a low of 36%…

…but have subsequently recovered to over 60%.

And while much of Moore’s recovery can be attributed to voters not trusting the timing of misconduct allegations that occurred in the 1970s, the mainstream media has overlooked another important reason that Jones hasn’t been able to poll higher:

Doug Jones holds absolutely zero moderate positions.

This might not seem like a problem, as “extreme” Senators from both sides of the aisle are commonly elected.  However, for a “blue” candidate to win in a “red” state like Alabama, there has to be at least some moderation on a few key issues to attract Republicans.

Some notable examples are:

  • North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp: has an “A” rating from the NRA, supports the Keystone XL pipeline, and votes with President Trump’s positions 51% of the time

  • Indiana’s Joe Donnelly: has an “A” rating from the NRA, considered “pro-life”, and is a staunch supporter of defense spending

  • West Virginia’s Joe Manchin: “identifies” as “pro-life”, co-sponsored Republican balanced budged amendments, and was the only Democrat to support the Energy Tax Prevention Act

All three of the above face re-election this year, and only Heitkamp is expected to even have a chance of a winning re-election bid; Donnelly and Manchin are widely expected to lose.  In particular, Manchin’s re-election bid has been hindered due to his co-sponsoring the 2013 Manchin-Toomey amendment to implement universal background checks on gun sales.  Five years after the fact, West Virginia voters have not forgotten Manchin’s “betrayal” on gun rights.  As this author has stated in the past, gun control is not a winning political position, but it is a particularly difficult one to take in a “red” state.

It should be obvious by now; for a Democratic candidate to win a Senate seat in a “red” state, he/she must hold at least some “red” political positions.

With that in mind, if you look at the positions of Jones, you’ll see that he by and large toes the “blue” party line.  Jones has come out in support of increased restrictions on gun rights:

But Jones has said enough in small soundbites to make clear that he supports expanding background checks to cover gun shows. The Washington Post quoted him saying such an expansion “would be helpful.”

His support for gun show regulation is the logical outgrowth of his overarching belief that the Second Amendment has “limitations.”

In fact, Jones believes every natural right protected by the Bill of Rights is limited. The Alabama Political Reporter quoted Jones saying, “We’ve got limitations on all constitutional amendments in one form or another.”

…and on abortion…

The Jones campaign, last week, doubled-down on the candidate’s pro-choice platform: “I support a woman’s right and freedom to choose what to do with her body. This is a decision between a woman, her doctor and her Lord. Who am I to tell a woman what to do with her body?”

…and Jones also supports more federal spending, does not support tax cuts, supports climate change regulations, and does not support repealing Obamacare.  In fact, if you look closely through his platform, he is about as “blue” as the majority of Democratic Senators.

Not exactly a formula for success in “red” Alabama.

Even worse, as Free Market Shooter’s Jon Hall has pointed out, Jones has been “promoted” by Hillary Clinton, a state where President Trump nearly doubled Hillary’s vote total:

It has become obvious; no matter how much (hypocritical) Democrats point the finger of blame at Roy Moore…

…the Democrats have virtually no chance of winning a Senate seat in deep-red Alabama if the candidate doesn’t tailor their positions to attract “red” voters, something Doug Jones’s party-line platform completely fails to do.

Time Accuses Trump Of Lying With "Person Of The Year" Tweet

As if by clockwork, president Trump has once again managed to dominated the holiday weekend news cycle, with a strategically timed, Friday afternoon tweet, in which he claimed that Time called to tell him that he was "probably" going to be named the magazine"s person of the year, but that he turned the offer down.

"Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named "Man (Person) of the Year," like last year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!" the president tweeted.

Less than three hours later, Time disputed the President"s narrative, effectively calling Trump a liar: "The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6," Time responded in a tweet that got approximately three times as many likes and retweets as Trump"s.

It is unclear why the president would (should) have a chip on his shoulder: last year, Trump was named Time"s 2016 Person of the Year, shortly after his shocking victory over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.

However, that accolade has done little to normalize relations between the president and the publication: Trump has repeaetedly and publicly derided Time for not being selected in recent years.

"Thank you @oreillyfactor for your wonderful editorial as to why I should have been @TIME Magazine"s Person of the Year. You should run Time!" Trump tweeted in December 2015.

Similarly in December 2012, Trump tweeted," I knew last year that @TIME Magazine lost all credibility when they didn"t include me in their Top 100... "

There appears to be a somewhat unhealthy infatuation between Trump and Time"s opinion of him: in June, the WaPo reported that at least four Trump Organization golf properties had on display a fake Time Magazine with Trump on the cover and featuring flattering headlines about his reality TV show, "The Apprentice."

Trump also claimed previously, and incorrectly, that he holds the record for cover appearances on Time Magazine.

Speaking to the BBC, a former editor of the magazine, Richard Stengel, said the use of the word "probably" meant Mr Trump had missed out on the accolade. Richard Stengel referenced the report when he retweeted the president on Friday, adding the comment: "Hate to tell you but that probably means you"re not Person of the Year. They just wanted a photo shoot. But I"m sure you still have that fake Time cover somewhere in storage."

Which likely means that Time"s Person of the Year 2017 is, for now, wide open... unless of course Time goes the GQ route and gives it to Kaepernick.

Meanwhile In Sweden, Crime Hits All Time Highs

It appears President Trump, having warned that Sweden"s huge intake of refugees would lead to "problems like they never thought possible," has been vindicated.

Following media mockery and Sweden"s official Twitter account responding:

“Hey Don, this is @Sweden speaking! It’s nice of you to care, really, but don’t fall for the hype. Facts: We’re OK!”

Trump reacted by tweeting...

And now nine months later, Trump"s worst fears - and the lies of Swedish authorities - have been confirmed.

Bloomberg reports that the number of Swedes who were victims of crimes such as fraud and sexual offenses jumped to the highest level on record last year.

A survey by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention showed that 15.6 percent of people suffered one or more offences against the person (defined in the survey as assault, threats, sexual offences, robbery, fraud or harassment) last year. That’s up from 13.3 percent in 2015 and the highest number recorded since the annual Swedish Crime Survey started in 2006.

The number of offences against individuals “was at a relatively stable level 2005 to 2014, at 11.3 percent to 13.1 percent, but the last two years show an increase,” the council said in the report published this week.

Now... what changed in the last two years in Europe? ...

The crimes “that have had the clearest development in the past few years are harassment, fraud and sexual offences,” the agency said.

Of the six types of offences against the person, five of six rose to their highest level on record last year. The number of assault cases reached its second-highest level.

“Young women aged between 16 and 24 is the group that’s most subject to sexual offences, with 14 percent of young women stating that they were victims of at least one such crime during 2016,” the council said.

“Among men in the same age group, 1.2 percent said they had been victims.”

And on the heels of that; buoyed by the stunning success of the It’s Ok To Be White campaign, Squawker reports that 4chan"s infamous politically incorrect board has now seemingly moved on to their next example of expert level political trolling... taking aim at modern Sweden.

Operation Swedistan as users have taken to calling it, follows the usual 4chan strategy of attempting to trick extremist liberals into siding with a progressive cause that would seem ridiculous or even outright appalling to the average person.

In this case the goal is simple, convince Sweden to change its flag design. More specifically, to remove the Christian cross and install an Islamic crescent in its place.

To be clear, no one involved expects or or wants this to actually happen obviously. But if even one actual Swedish official is perceived to, for even for a moment actually consider implementing such a change. The hope is that will be enough to upset what the operations organizers refer to as the “left-leaning normie” masses.

A full rundown of the basic strategy can be seen here below.

A formal mass petition to the Swedish Prime Minister has also been launched sitting at over 2,300 signatures in less than 24 hours time already. Among other things it states the following.

“The Swedish flag is a constant reminder of our dark and oppressive past. Refugees and migrants are forced to live under its Christian Cross; a symbol of the Crusades and the slaughter of millions of innocent Islamic lives in Sweden’s past that makes them feel unwelcome and unsafe.

Sweden should be a safe space for everyone. As our outdated national symbol gradually becomes the banner of Xenophobic and racist extremist groups, we must think into the future. A future of peace, understanding and tolerance.”

We leave you with Sweden"s new ambassador to Iceland"s recent comments that sparked a major controversy after he warned that Sweden is "in the process of dismantling democracy" and could be on a slippery slope towards technocracy or a dictatorship.

Håkan Juholt, a former leader of the centre-left Social Democrat party and ambassador to Iceland since September, made the comments in an interview with the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

"How old is your son? Four?" he asks the reporter.

"When he is old he won"t be living in a democracy but in a technocracy, or a dictatorship. It"s sad as hell. I am sorry to say it, but I am 100 percent sure. We are in the process of dismantling democracy."

Later in the interview, he says:

"I don"t think the threat is a dictatorship with tanks rolling on Sergel"s Square (a well-known square in central Stockholm), but an expert rule where we do not let the citizens" values govern the country. Democracy is slipping through our fingers. Fewer people want to be elected, the parties are toning down their ideology.

Sure, I see a risk that it may become a dictatorship in the long run."

His brutal honesty in a diplomatic role appears to have ruffled more than a few feathers... much like President Trump"s.

Trump Defends Saudi Actions: "Some Have Been Milking Their Country For Years"

President Trump is up bright and early in Asia this morning and just unleashed two rather pointed tweets in the direction of Saudi Arabia.

Having commented during the day on the success of America"s missile-defense system in the attack on Riyadh that was intercepted, President Trump had been quiet on the "civil war" going on among the elites... until now:

I have great confidence in King Salman and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, they know exactly what they are doing....

....Some of those they are harshly treating have been “milking” their country for years!

The former tweet seems to confirm previous comments that:

MBS is emboldened by strong support from President Trump and his inner circle, who see him as a kindred disrupter of the status quo - at once a wealthy tycoon and a populist insurgent. It was probably no accident that last month, Jared Kushner, Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, made a personal visit to Riyadh.

The two princes are said to have stayed up until nearly 4 a.m. several nights, swapping stories and planning strategy.

The latter tweet seems like a direct reference to at least one member of Saudi royalty who was arrested and has had his assets frozen...

In 2015, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin-Talal tweeted at Trump...

To which Trump responded...

Perhaps pre-empting today"s "miling the country" comments.

Twitter Revises Terms Of Service, No Longer Believes In "Speaking Truth To Power"

Having been caught in a crossfire over internet free speech and Russian conspiracy theories, Twitter has quietly made a significant change in its stated "Twitter Rules" terms of service.

Following several Congressional hearings meant to root out "Russian interference" by Twitter accounts, as well as an incident in which a disgruntled, now former employee, disabled Donald Trump"s twitter account for 11 minutes, it appears that Twitter no longer believes in "speaking truth to power."

The change can be seen in Twitter"s TOS, in the “Abusive Behavior” section, which currently states that “We believe in freedom of expression and open dialogue, but that means little as an underlying philosophy if voices are silenced because people are afraid to speak up.”

This is a material change from what this section stated as recently as November 2, when the section read “We believe in freedom of expression and in speaking truth to power"...

... with believing in "speaking truth to power" replaced with "open dialogue."

The change took place just two days after November 1, when Twitter, along with Google and Facebook, were questioned by Congress in the ongoing witch-hunt, as dubbed by Donald Trump, for “Russian influence” that may have led to interference in the 2016 presidential election. As @Jack twitted at the time, the changes to Twitter’s rules were made as part of a November 3 attempt to “clarify” them.

In a statement, the company said that it wanted to make it clear that “context is crucial when evaluating abusive behavior and determining appropriate enforcement actions.”

In its testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Twitter unveiled that it used a vast array of tenuous criteria to define accounts as “Russia-linked,” and also admitted it had censored the hashtags #PodestaEmails and #DNCLeaks tweets during the 2016 US presidential election campaign in an effort to limit public exposure to leaked documents describing the Democratic National Committee’s efforts to boost Clinton as the Democratic Party’s  preferred candidate during the primaries, a process which was subsequently defined as rigged by none other than Elizabeth Warren following blockbuster claims by interim DNC chair Donna Brazile. Twitter Associate General Counsel Sean Edgett claimed many of those tweets were “automated” and hidden by anti-spam systems. He also admitted that less than 4 percent of them came from potential “Russian-linked” accounts.

Last week Twitter also announced it was banning all ads from RT and Sputnik, citing the same allegations of meddling in the 2016 US election. That, despite the company previously trying to engage RT in a special US election advertising package, which RT said it had declined.

Later on the same day Twitter revised its TOS language, Twitter announced that while it may no longer speak "truth to power", the reason why power was not allowed to speak for 11 minutes, i.e. when Donald Trump"s account was deactivated for 11 minutes, was due to a departing employee"s decision that it was in Twitter"s best interest to shut up the US president.

A separate update will be issued on November 14 with more details on how the company reviews and enforces policies, according to Twitter.

Twitter Employee Deactivates Trump"s Account For 11 Minutes & The Media Loses Its Mind

Update: Twitter has finally responded - blaming "human error"...

Did President Donald Trump just expertly troll every member of the #resistance?

The President"s twitter account disappeared shortly before 7 pm Thursday and was unavailable for just over ten minutes, providing the error message that the user "does not exist." But by 7:03 pm, it had been restored.

It is not clear what caused the outage, the Associated Press reported, and spokespeople for the White House and Twitter did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump hasn"t tweeted since the account was restored. Of course, many of Trump"s critics have complained that the president should shut down his account - and there was some speculation that he might do so after Gen. John Kelly took over as chief of staff. But the president has repeatedly said he believes retaining the ability to directly communicate with his supports is a valuable political tool.

Though it was short-lived, the outage prompted some hilarious reactions.
