Twitter Employee Deactivates Trump"s Account For 11 Minutes & The Media Loses Its Mind

Update: Twitter has finally responded - blaming "human error"...

*  *  *

Did President Donald Trump just expertly troll every member of the #resistance?

The President"s twitter account disappeared shortly before 7 pm Thursday and was unavailable for just over ten minutes, providing the error message that the user "does not exist." But by 7:03 pm, it had been restored.

It is not clear what caused the outage, the Associated Press reported, and spokespeople for the White House and Twitter did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump hasn"t tweeted since the account was restored. Of course, many of Trump"s critics have complained that the president should shut down his account - and there was some speculation that he might do so after Gen. John Kelly took over as chief of staff. But the president has repeatedly said he believes retaining the ability to directly communicate with his supports is a valuable political tool.

Though it was short-lived, the outage prompted some hilarious reactions.

Mika Brzezinski: There Are 'Literally' No Real Men in the White House Who Can Stop Trump

Content originally published at iBankCoin.com

Ever since the election season began, the left has been going "literally" apeshit over Trump"s usage of Twitter. In recent month"s they"ve been autistically screeching over it -- demanding that Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, ban him. They"ve trotted out GOP deep state shills, neocons, professors, think tankfags -- all trying to dissuade the President from using a platform that communicates directly to the people.

The main stream media, feeling threatened by the President cutting them out from the middle man position, have been pursuing a scorched earth strategy -- attempting to remove him from the White House, while also reminding him that "voters" hate his fucking twitter account.

Today, Mika Brzezinski called out the men inside the White House for failing to stop the President from using his Twitter account.

Main stream media has been constant with their opeds, some even trying to accuse the President"s use of the social media platform as "unconstitutional." Here are just as handle of titles by those livid with the President.

If Trump is such a dunce for tweeting and is hurting himself politically, why the fuck do the leftards care? If anything, they should be elated by it -- since it only serves to hurt him, as they so readily like to say. Another theory is they"re control freaks who chimp out at the idea that Trump crushed Hillary Clinton, whilst spending 1/3rd of her campaign budget on traditional media, catching waves and having fun --  memeing all day like a boss on Twitter -- shitposting his way into the oval office.

Trump Tweets 'Like-ability' Tumbles

Twitter users are showing President Trump less love than they did at the start of his term.

(click image for large interactive version)

What’s driving the downward trend? Bloomberg notes several factors could be at play. The president’s approval rating has declined since he took office; enthusiasm for his brand of commentary may be waning; and, of course, newer tweets have simply had less time to accumulate likes, though most likes are usually awarded shortly after a tweet’s publication.

Trump says he prefers Twitter because he wants to work around the mainstream media’s filter.

“When the media takes my message, knows what my message is and then writes it purposely so it doesn’t sound good, I’d rather do Twitter,” he said a few days after taking office.

But, as AP reports, Twitter appears to have its own partisan filter. Reaction to Trump’s tweets break down sharply along partisan lines, with conservatives more likely to retweet without commentary while liberals are for more likely to respond to a tweet and, presumably, disagree. About 96 percent of those who simply retweet the president’s words are right-leaning, according to the analysis, while about 54 percent of his replies come from left-leaning users. Verified accounts — often journalists, celebrities, politicians or other public figures — are 70% more likely to weigh in on Trump’s tweets by quoting them, interjecting their own voices to the discussion.

However, as Bloomberg reports, the decline has not affected the president’s ability to use Twitter to deliver his message. Any tweet from @realDonaldTrump is still capable of taking over a news cycle. Trump’s tweet on May 2 calling for “a good ‘shutdown’ in September” had garnered only about 58,000 likes as of Wednesday morning yet had generated stories in the New York Times, The Washington Post, the Fox News website, Breitbart, and Bloomberg News.

Twitter Co-Founder Explains Why He Is Liquidating A Minority Of His TWTR Shares

Moments ago Twitter shares slumped, then rebounded...

... after Ev Williams, co-founder of Twitter, published an article on Medium in which he explained why he - along with apparently everyone else these days - is "selling some twitter shares"

As he explains...  "After a year and a half of no selling, I have filed a new 10b5–1 plan to liquidate a minority of my TWTR over the next year. It actually pains me to be selling at this point, but this sale is all about personal context, not company context....

Here’s the short story: I like to invest a lot in things I care about. For example, I’m the largest LP at Obvious Ventures, which is now on its second fund and has invested in over 35 world-positive companies. In addition, my wife and I have done a fair amount of philanthropic giving and—especially in the last year—upped our political donations significantly ????. These are all efforts to help build a smarter, more sustainable world. I’ve been doing all of them for a while, and I’d like to continue."

In short, for that reason or any other, he prefers cash over TWTR shares here.

His full note is below:

Why I’m selling some Twitter shares

A note for Twitter shareholders and employees

If you’re not a Twitter shareholder or employee (or reporter who covers such things), this is exceedingly uninteresting?—?check out the Medium homepage instead. If you are, I wanted to provide some context, in anticipation of potential speculation due to a public filing today.

The vast majority of my assets are in the form of Twitter stock, as has been the case since, well, since it was worth much. That will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future. I’m proud to be on the board and optimistic about the future of the company. I’m also really gratified by the recent efforts at Twitter to curb abuse, the upward tick in usage, and recent additions to senior staff, among other things.

After a year and a half of no selling, I have filed a new 10b5–1 plan to liquidate a minority of my TWTR over the next year. This plan kicked in on Monday. It actually pains me to be selling at this point, but this sale is all about personal context, not company context.

(In the early days, I also funded Medium, but have not in recent years and don’t have any plans to, thanks to awesome investor/partners.)

I’m not a public market investor. And I feel very fortunate to be able to use funds to enable other people to do good things. Thank you for your understanding and thanks, especially, to the employees working to serve the important role Twitter plays in the world today.

It appears the news is less "positive" after all...

Caught On Video: Man Brutally Beaten In Lower Manhattan As People Walk By

A man was brutally beaten on a sidewalk in Manhattan"s Lower East Side in broad daylight on Friday afternoon as pedestrians walked by while the entire attack caught on camera. The incident took place around 2:45 p.m on Friday and NY Police is searching for two suspects.

The police said two men chased a 24-year-old man north on Orchard Street towards Stanton Street. The men caught up to the victim in front of 156 Orchard Street and began to punch and kick him multiple times in his head, face and body, according to NY1. The two men then fled in a black livery vehicle.

An owner of a nearby gallery, interviewed by Pix11, was stunned not so much at the violence, but at how pedestrians simply walked by the scene of the crime with nobody offering to help or stop the brutal beating.

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Twitter Sued By Families Of Terrorism Victims For "Providing Services To ISIS"

Lately Twitter just can"t seem to get anything right.

While Jack Dorsey"s social network has been frequently in the news for cracking down on outspoken members of the "alt-right", or those accused of harrassment such as Martin Shkreli most recently, it has also been accused of taking a soft hand on those who post real threats, such as terrorist who use the social network to coordinate attacks.

A 2014 article in The Atlantic titled "How ISIS Games Twitter" described how "extremists of all stripes are increasingly using social media to recruit, radicalize and raise funds."

Which is also why a lawsuit was filed against Twitter by families of three Americans killed during ISIS attacks in France and Belgium, claiming the social media platform played "a uniquely essential role in the development of ISIS" image, its success in recruiting members from around the world, and its ability to carry out attacks and intimidate its enemies."

In the lawsuit, which argues that Twitter violated the Anti-Terrorism Act, the vicitms families" also accuse Twitter of “refusing to actively identify ISIS Twitter accounts, and only reviewing accounts reported by other Twitter users" and further allege that "Twitter provides services to ISIS that, among other things, substantially assist and contribute to ISIS’s ability to carry out its terrorist activities."

They add that terrorists have "used Twitter to specifically threaten France and Belgium that they would be attacked for participating in a coalition of nations against” Islamic State.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for Southern District of New York, seeks punitive damages for deaths of two victims of terrorist attacks “in an amount sufficient to deter Twitter and others from similar future wrongful conduct,” according to court filing.

However, as Business Insider notes, a similar lawsuit accusing Twitter of providing support to ISIS was dismissed by a California judge in August 2016. Twitter is currently facing another similar lawsuit by family members of victims killed in the June 2016 attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Twitter began cracking down on accounts related to ISIS in the summer of 2015, when it suspended 125,000 accounts in one fell swoop. In August 2016, the company said it had suspended a total of 350,000 accounts related to ISIS since mid-2015.

The plaintiffs, however, find Twitter"s efforts have not been enough and allege that the company has "continued to provide these resources and services to ISIS and its affiliates, refusing to actively identify ISIS Twitter accounts, and only reviewing accounts reported by other Twitter users." The suit argues that  "simply put, ISIS uses Twitter as a tool and a weapon of terrorism."

The full lawsuit is below:
