Washington is a rumor mill. Reports often surface in the media – some true, others false.

According to the CIA-connected Washington Post, Trump intends firing National Security Advisor HR McMaster.

Several replacements are being considered, neocon hardliner John Bolton perhaps the leading candidate.

He’s a former Bush/Cheney recess-appointed UN envoy, resigning after 16 months of service because of his likely inability to be confirmed in January 2007 by an undemocratic Dem-controlled Senate.

He’s currently a senior fellow at the neocon-infested American Enterprise Institute, also affiliated with other hard-right organizations.

He was presidential aspirant Mitt Romney’s political advisor during his 2012 campaign, and a regular Fox News contributor.

Like Bill Clinton and GW Bush, he was a draft dodger during the Vietnam war – turned chicken hawk, years later saying “I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy. I considered the war in Vietnam already lost.”

A protege of former hardline North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms, he’s held various government service positions.

He’s a leading advocate for excluding prosecutions of Americans at the International Criminal Court (ICC), claiming nonexistent constitutional grounds.

Notorious for making undiplomatic public statements, he expressed extreme hostility toward North Korea, calling its government a tyrannical dictatorship.

Last year, he belligerently said “the only longterm way to deal with (its) nuclear weapons program is” regime change, adding:

“It’s not enough…to impose sanctions…(T)his (government) poses a threat to stability in the region that undermines security” – a bald-faced lie.

Earlier he accused Iran of lying to the IAEA. The organization refuted his claim. He called Palestinian statehood aims a “ploy.”

In a policy paper, he said “the United Nations can be a useful instrument in the conduct of American foreign policy.” He was the most extremist ever US UN envoy – until Nikki Haley’s appointment.

In March 2015, he called for bombing Iran to stop its bomb, accusing Obama of “fostering a nuclear Iran” by the JCPOA nuclear deal.

He’s militantly Russophobic, saying sanctions aren’t enough, calling for “mak(ing) the Russians feel pain.”

Earlier he urged confronting China’s nonexistent “aggressiveness,” adding Washington should “shake up” its relationship with Beijing.

According to WaPo, “Trump is now comfortable with ousting McMaster, with whom he never personally gelled, but is willing to take time executing the move because he wants to ensure both that the three-star Army general is not humiliated and that there is a strong successor lined up.”

Separately, Vanity Fair headlined “ ‘Trump wants them out of there:’ After swinging the axe at Tillerson, Trump mulls what to do with McMaster, Sessions, Jared and Ivanka” – perhaps along with other administration officials.

After replacing Tillerson, Trump said “I’m really at a point where we’re getting very close to having the cabinet and other things that I want” – suggesting more changes to come.

WW3 Alert: US And China Preparing For ‘All Hell To Break Loose’ On Korean Peninsula

The United States and China are preparing for a situation in which all hell breaks loose on the Korean Peninsula.  Both nations are taking unprecedented steps as tensions toward a nuclear war ramp up even more.

The US has stepped up military drills, practiced air raids, and reportedly started preparing to seize North Korea’s nuclear weapons by force, a feat South Korea has declared won’t be all that easy. South Korean officials have been talking up a pause in military drills in hopes that it will lead to a peaceful Winter Olympics in February, but the US has yet to agree to halt said drills.  Instead, the US  brought in a record number of stealth aircraft this month to train up on an air war against North Korea. Immediately after the drill, which featured a marked increase in simulated bomb runs on North Korean targets, the US and South Korea reportedly engaged in drills to infiltrate North Korea and neutralize its weapons of mass destruction.

At a speech at the Atlantic Council last week, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the US was preparing plans to seize loose nuclear weapons, should North Korea somehow collapse or become unstable.

President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, also flatly rejected the clearest path to peace by saying the US would never accept a nuclear-armed North Korea. He recommitted the US to using force if necessary.

“We’re not committed to a peaceful resolution — we’re committed to a resolution,” McMaster told the BBC. “We have to be prepared, if necessary, to compel the denuclearization of North Korea without the cooperation of that regime.” –Business Insider

China is also bracing itself for a potential war. Across North Korea’s border in China’s Jilin province, state-run media ran a full-page instructional package on how to survive a nuclear blast. The page doesn’t mention North Korea, but it doesn’t need to. According to Business Insider, there are also a few notable new additions to Jilin. Five new refugee camps built “because the situation on the China-North Korea border has intensified lately,” a leaked document seen by The New York Times said. The camps could accommodate thousands of North Koreans who might pour across the border in a time of war.

Of course, China’s preparations don’t end there either. They also have an offensive approach to the heightened tensions. China’s air force engaged in exercises along “routes and areas it has never flown before” earlier this month, with surveillance aircraft over the Yellow and East seas near the Korean Peninsula, according to the South China Morning Post. “The timing of this high-profile announcement by the PLA is also a warning to Washington and Seoul not to provoke Pyongyang any further,” Li Jie, a military expert based in Beijing, told the Post, using the abbreviation for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). In addition to flexing its military muscle against the US, China has been increasingly assertive in the South China Sea. It has also dispatched military spy planes to encircle Taiwan and provide up-to-date info, which the Macau-based military observer Antony Wong Dong told the Post was “very unusual.”

All of this is in preparation for an “all hell breaks loose” scenario that’s likely to unfold on the Korean Peninsula.

“Now it’s time for all nations to do more,” McMaster said. The National Security Strategy document also includes details about how the administration is dealing with North Korea. McMaster said that policy is focused on the “denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” not ousting Kim Jong-Un. That includes potential action against companies that illegally do business with North Korea, along with continued pressure on China to help curb North Korea’s nuclear tests.

“North Korea’s government is dependent on isolation,” said Britain’s national security advisor, Mark Sedwill. “Those who talk about reintegrating North Korea miss the point of that regime,” Sedwill said, lacking confidence that North Korea could ever be normalized.

Another section of the strategy will focus on “cooperation with reciprocity,” a phrase meant to coax U.S. allies to spend more on their own defense, a critical component of Trump’s campaign rhetoric on national security.

WW3: ‘Nuclear War At Any Moment’ As US Responds With War Drills

Kim Jong-Un’s most recent missile launch sparked fears of a third world war. Responding directly to that missile launch, the United States has participated in war drills with South Korea.

The operation dubbed “Vigilant Ace” was branded as an “open, all-out provocation” by North Korea. The training drills are scheduled to last five days, aiming to improve South Korea and the US’s wartime readiness. Impressive video from the initial drills shows F-16 jets training in the sky high above the North Korea border. The exercise is the largest ever co-operative drill. The US and South Korea used 230 aircraft, including 24 stealth fighter jets preparing for a war on the Korean peninsula.

Around 12,000 military personnel are taking part in the drills.  North Korea has also warned that these ‘provocative’ military drills  “may lead to a nuclear war at any moment.” The North Korean warning came straight from propagandized state-run media, which also declared: “The US and South Korean puppet warmongers would be well advised to bear in mind that their DPRK-targeted military drill will be as foolish as an act precipitating their self-destruction.”

The White House’s national security adviser HR McMaster has admitted the North Korean newspaper threats are credible and more government officials now believe that a war looms.  “I think it’s increasing every day, which means that we are in a race to be able to solve this problem. There are ways to address this problem short of armed conflict, but it is a race because he’s getting closer and closer, and there’s not much time left,” said McMaster.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has called on the Pentagon to move the families of US military personnel out of South Korea, as a senior Trump administration official warned that the potential for war with North Korea was growing by the day.  “It’s crazy to send spouses and children to South Korea, given the provocation of North Korea. South Korea should be an unaccompanied tour,” Graham said on CBS’s Face the Nation. “So, I want them to stop sending dependents, and I think it’s now time to start moving American dependents out of South Korea.”

“He’s got the best national security team of anybody I have seen since I have been in Washington,” Graham said of Trump, who has vowed to deny North Korea the ability to strike the US with nuclear weapons. “Denial means pre-emptive war as a last resort,” Graham said. “The pre-emption is becoming more likely as their technology matures. I think we’re really running out of time.” If North Korea dares to conduct another nuclear weapons test, Graham added, “then you need to get ready for a very serious response by the United States”.

H.R. McMaster is No James Mattoon Scott

One of the most self-evident admissions out of the Trump administration is that retired General H.R. McMaster is a devote globalist who has gathered the neocons onto his staff and into prominent positions. Make no mistake about this fact, the top gun and National-Security Adviser is working overtime to destroy the America First movement from within the oval office. President Trump is being engineered into an isolated and solitary confinement with the maneuvers of palace revolutionary traitors. Why Trump allows this obvious undermining of his authority is problematic and obscenely distressing to all his enthusiastic supporters who put him in office. Can Trump be so blinded with the stars on a military uniform that his judgment does not see that the establishment is determined to annihilate his stated policy resets or is he just succumbing to the toxic encirclement from the DC swamp?

Well the title of an essay from the Great American Daily, You’ll Never Believe Who Just Emerged As The Biggest Threat To Trump’s Presidency, is entirely evident. “National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster is firing Trump loyalists on the National Security Council and replacing them with establishment hacks”, is the only White House leak that is not fake news.

When uncovered, McMaster Caught Helping Obama Team Leak Intel implicates his true loyalty to the anti-Trump forces by keeping Susan Rice in the loop.

“I hereby waive the requirement that you must have a ‘need-to-know’ to access any classified information contained in items you ‘originated, reviewed, signed, or received while serving,’ as national security adviser,” the letter said. “NSC will continue to work with you to ensure the appropriate security clearance documentation remains on file to allow you access to classified information.”

The history of this administration will confirm, according to Dave Hodges that Treason! McMaster Is the Major Leaker.

“McMaster is even firing a Trump loyalist, Rich Higgins, who publicly warned that the Trump administration is plagued by globalists, bankers, the Deep State and Islamists. And how was Higgins warnings received, McMaster fired Higgins. Do you realize what this means? McMaster is clearly supporting the Deep State. Trump needs to immediately fire his NSA Director.”

Bill Gertz from the Washington Free Beacon quotes Higgins in Fired NSC Aide Reveals Political Warfare Operation Targeting Trump.

“The Trump administration is suffering under withering information campaigns designed to first undermine, then delegitimize and ultimately remove the president,” Higgins states.

“This is not politics as usual but rather political warfare at an unprecedented level that is openly engaged in the direct targeting of a seated president through manipulation of the news cycle,” he said.”

The dilemma that has yet to be fully understood, is why does Trump allow this purging of his core loyalists?  McMaster has proven that he is part of a soft coup and is in agreement as Soros Crony Conducts Stalinist Purge against the President. Maybe to shed some light on this folly, a brief comparison with the plot from the 1964 thriller, Seven Days in May would be in order.

1. S. President Jordan Lyman departs from a faction of the war machine establishment by signing a nuclear treaty. General James Mattoon Scott, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff conspires to remove Lyman from office. He fails and the simplified lesson of the drama is that the constitutional system worked. The government did not fall to the motivations of a powerful military demigod’s attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected President.

Well, this childish popular taradiddle does not conform with the real world. Whatever one thinks about Donald Trump, he won the electoral college selection and IS the lawful President. Hardly anyone would maintain that he is part of the crony political class that makes up the DC swamp. And while the Trump campaign rhetoric on scaling down the global garrison empire bases has receded, the tone of his National Security Council more resembles the bellicose screenplay dialogue of the mythical General Scott.

The actual meaning In Search of James Mattoon Scott, quotes him correctly: “James Mattoon Scott, as you put it, hasn’t the slightest interest in his own glorification. But he does have an abiding concern about the survival of this country.”

Expressing his loyalty to the American Nation and not to the District of Criminals establishment, General Scott was the true Patriot. H.R. McMaster is the exact opposite. His devotion is emphatically to the war party band of globalists who are dedicated to destroy the Republic and assimilate OUR country into a New World Order.

Trump may not be the hero of the second American Revolution, but he certainly is not a collaborator with the power elites that make up the political collectivist establishment. A James Mattoon Scott putsch would have all the populist support of a Donald Trump rally.

The vast difference in today’s beltway cesspool is that the senior military command is in the service of the wrong master. They are defying the Trump Presidency and the will of grassroots deplorables. McMaster is so brazen in his subterfuge of bringing into the NSC neocons like Dina Habib Powell, that only a never Trumpeter would defend his treachery.

The coup d’état from the America First Presidency has already taken place. How much complicity Trump factors into this surrender is yet to be determined. By allowing the McMaster element to rule over foreign policy is suicidal.

If this was not factual, explain why McMaster’s Former Group Scrubs — then Re-Adds — Soros Financing from Website? The fake news media, like Politico would have you believe that Breitbart’s war on McMaster bites Bannon. However, the underlying issue is brought forward in The Daily Caller, ‘Everything The President Wants To Do, McMaster Opposes,’ Former NSC Officials Say.

“Everything the president wants to do, McMaster opposes,” a former senior official said in a wide-ranging interview. “Trump wants to get us out of Afghanistan — McMaster wants to go in. Trump wants to get us out of Syria — McMaster wants to go in. Trump wants to deal with the China issue — McMaster doesn’t. Trump wants to deal with the Islam issue — McMaster doesn’t. You know, across the board, we want to get rid of the Iran deal — McMaster doesn’t. It is incredible to watch it happening right in front of your face. Absolutely stunning.”

Such viewpoints from the trusted TDC conservative publication is not shared with The Strident Conservative. David Leach concludes Trump won’t fire McMaster because they’re both liberals and cites Trump asserts support for McMaster from a CNN report. Daniel Horowitz contends that Trump’s defense of HR McMaster is indefensible.

“Throughout the trials and tribulations of the past six months, conservatives have consistently looked in the rearview mirror, breathing a sigh of relief that “at least we didn’t get Hillary.” The irony is that Hillary’s national security legacy is being advanced under Trump’s own banner through H.R. McMaster as head of the National Security Council. Unless he is fired, this will be the third term of Obama.”

Could it be as simple as President Trump is a closet neo liberal, who has more in common with the aggressive interventionism of “Bomber” McCain than a reformer of the vastly overexposed American Empire?

Even more confusing is why would Trump assign so much power to H.R. “Benedict Arnold” McMaster when he has eliminated several associates of the Steve Bannon faction from the administration?  McMaster Leaks is the driving force behind the campaign to fire this untrustworthy General comes from blogger Mike Cernovich, who provides the ammunition to strip rank and authority from this accomplice for the Deep State.

For those who voted for and support the Trump promise for contracting the hegemony of the permanent war party empire, disappointment in foreign affairs has been our reward. Missing is the overriding apprehension that General James Mattoon Scott understood and the NSC overseer rejects is that an “abiding concern about the survival of this country”, cannot be realized when the government oligarchy is populated with Soros friendly internationalists.

A literal civil war is being waged by the establishment against the citizens of this nation. Military leaders have a choice. Side with the people or keep doing the bidding of the globalist elites. If the Trump administration fails and the hopes of genuine Americans are dashed, the search for a real James Mattoon Scott to carry on the struggle will commence. And the name McMaster will not be on the list of authentic patriots.

HR McMaster: Trump’s Ally or Enemy?

In April, investigative journalist Mike Cernovich accused him of “manipulating intelligence reports given to President Donald Trump,” adding:

He’s “plotting how to sell a massive ground war in Syria,” complicit with retired general/disgraced former CIA director David Petraeus, wanting “150,000” US ground troops in Syria.

He urged sending 50,000 more US forces to Afghanistan, discussed in an earlier article, wanting America’s long ago lost war, its longest in modern times, waged longer.

Because of leaking classified information to his mistress, Petraeus’ security clearance was revoked. Unnamed sources told Cernovich that McMaster is sharing classified information with him anyway.

On his mcmasterleaks.com web site, Cernovich said McMaster hired two allies of Ben Rhodes, Obama administration deputy national security advisor for strategic communications.

He hasn’t replaced Obama NSA holdovers hostile to Trump. He fired Trump loyalists Robin Townley, Derek Harvey, and Adam Lovinger.

Other NSC staffers removed include Tara Dahl and Ezra Cohen-Watnick. Trump’s intervention preventing Sebastian Gorka’s firing.

McMaster “fired Rich Higgins for writing a memo criticizing Islamic terrorism.” He publicly “correct(ed) and contradict(ed) Trump.”

Obama’s national security advisor, Susan Rice, caught unmasking Americans in a spying scandal, publicly hostile to Trump, is advising McMaster, according to Cernovich.

Trump ally KT McFarland was replaced by Petraeus loyalist Ricky Waddell. Chief White House strategist Steve Bannon was removed from his National Security Council position, though still reportedly attends NSC meetings.

On August 8,  Infowars reported McMaster’s alleged connection to international con man/staunch undemocratic Democrat party supporter George Soros. It quoted political consultant/Trump loyalist Roger Stone saying:

“I have confirmed from sources from inside the White House, the Israeli government and Israeli intelligence that the Israelis have intercepted email communications from General McMaster to George Soros, informing him of everything that’s going on inside the White House.”

“…I have double checked this with two different sources very high up in Israeli intelligence, and I actually expect the Israeli ambassador to the US to confirm this.”

It suggests McMaster may be involved in White House leaks, Soros through his operatives passing them on to media scoundrels.

According to Stone, Soros “penetrated the Trump White House” with Brookings Center on the United States and Europe director Fiona Hill appointed to the National Security Council.

She’s connected to Soros’ Open Society Institute, said Stone. According to Cernovich, “McMaster is a leaker who hires leakers.”

Is he a fifth column threat to Trump’s presidency?

Stocks Catch A Bid On Report Trump's Threat Was Improvised

The S&P has caught a bid, and is now down just 0.1%, with the Nasdaq similarly wiping out most early losses, following a report that contrary to previous speculation that Trump"s bombastic "fire and fury" statement was a coordinated and pre-agreed upon indication of intent from the entire White House, it was in fact improvised. As the NYT writes, "President Trump delivered his “fire and fury” threat to North Korea on Tuesday with arms folded, jaw set and eyes flitting on what appeared to be a single page of talking points set before him on the conference table at his New Jersey golf resort. The piece of paper, as it turned out, was a fact sheet on the opioid crisis he had come to talk about, and his ominous warning to Pyongyang was entirely improvised."

The NYT also adds that "in discussions with advisers beforehand, he had not run the specific language by them", which has prompted a modest relief rally as it now appears that Trump"s widely reported statement was just another ad hoc outburst - in line with his daily Twitter rants - and one which will likely be moderated in future appearances after feedback from Trump"s advisors. 

To be sure, in the hours since, the president’s advisers have already sought to calm the situation, with Rex Tillerson assuring Americans that they “should sleep at night” without worrying about an imminent war, as we reported earlier.

As for the advisory split on how to handle North Korea, the NYT notes that that the president’s aides are "divided with national security veterans like Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, on one side and Stephen K. Bannon, the president’s chief strategist, and his allies on the other."

While General McMaster and others consider North Korea a pre-eminent threat that requires a tough response, Mr. Bannon and others in the nationalist wing argue that it is really just a subset of the administration’s conflict with China and that Mr. Trump should not give more prominence to an unstable rogue operator like Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s leader.

Mr. Bannon’s allies in the alt-right media and activist groups have been waging a ferocious public attack against General McMaster, characterizing him as soft on issues like Iran, Israel and terrorism and promoting a hashtag #FireMcMaster. They are angry that General McMaster has pushed out several hard-liners associated with Mr. Bannon from the National Security Council staff. Mr. Trump came to General McMaster’s defense last week with a statement expressing confidence in him.

Still, according to the report, the one voice pushing for a North Korean de-escalation is that of Steve Bannon who has been arguing against what his side considers the excessively militant approach of the “war party” of General McMaster. As a result, while Trump"s comment may have been indeed improvised, it merely reflect the will of both McMaster and Kelly, something we predicted two weeks ago when we commented on the appointment of Trump"s new Chief of Staff. Furthermore, while Bannon has his own channel to the president, he has been shut out of most formal discussions of North Korea by the national security team.

In any case, neither camp advocated language like “fire and fury,” according to the NYT sources. Among those taken by surprise, they said, was John F. Kelly, the retired four-star Marine general who has just taken over as White House chief of staff and has been with the president at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., for his working vacation.

Whatever the politics behind the White House split on North Korea, stocks have taken the news in stride and as the VIX taking a hit, both the S&P and the Nasdaq have risen to session lows, even as the Dow continues to feel the pain from yesterday"s Disney breakup with Netflix.

Read the memo that the globalist deep state doesn’t want you to see

According to multiple news reports, a top official at the National Security Council was targeted and fired by National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster after he wrote a controversial memo that took aim at a wide array of Trump enemies.

The memo, written by former Pentagon official Rich Higgins, described threats to the administration by globalists, the intelligence community deep state, and Islamists while comparing what Trump is facing to a Maoist insurgency.

“Globalists and Islamists recognize that for their visions to succeed, America, both as an ideal and as a national and political identity, must be destroyed.”

“In Maoist insurgencies, the formation of a counter-state is essential to seizing state power,” read the memo. “Functioning as a hostile complete state acting within an existing state, it has an alternate infrastructure. Political warfare operates as one of the activities of the ‘counter-state.”

Parts of the memo, provided by Breitbart News, reads:

Through the campaign, candidate Trump tapped into a deep vein of concern among many citizens that America is at risk and slipping away. Globalists and Islamists recognize that for their visions to succeed, America, both as an ideal and as a national and political identity, must be destroyed. … Islamists ally with cultural Marxists because, as far back as the 1980s, they properly assessed that the left has a strong chance of reducing Western civilization to its benefit. Is Trump About To Flip-Flop On "Radical Islamic Terrorism"?

With the President"s base already turning against him (after appearing to flip-flop on five core campaign promises), Trump may be able to do the biggest reversal yet as The Hill reports that White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster suggested that President Trump may abandon the phrase "radical Islamic terrorism" in a scheduled speech in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

As The Hill points out, Trump frequently used the phrase "radical Islamic terror" on the campaign trail to describe Islamist extremists and militant groups, but the term has historically been avoided by presidents, including George W. Bush and Barack Obama.  In fact, McMaster himself has urged the president to refrain from using the phrase, arguing that violent extremists, such as ISIS militants, push a perverse view of Islam and that the phrase "radical Islamic terror" ultimately hinders U.S. goals, according to CNN.

"The president will call it whatever he wants to call it. But I think it"s important that, whatever we call it, we recognize that [extremists] are not religious people. And, in fact, these enemies of all civilizations, what they want to do is to cloak their criminal behavior under this false idea of some kind of religious war."

"But I think what the president will point out is the vast majority  – the vast majority of victims from these people are Muslims. And of course the Muslim world is very cognizant of that, having born witness to and experienced directly this humanitarian catastrophe that"s going on across the greater Middle East and beyond."

In his speech on Sunday, Trump is expected to cast the fight against extremism as a "battle between good and evil," rather than a religious war, while calling for unity with allies in the Islamic world.

Yet Another Coup Is Brewing Within the Trump Administration

(ANTIMEDIA) Following Michael Flynn’s forced resignation as Donald Trump’s national security advisor, it seemed as though neoconservatives had completely infiltrated the Trump administration. Flynn’s replacement is a staunch anti-Russian imperialist, General H.R. McMaster.

In his new post, McMaster went to work immediately and began to shake up Trump’s National Security Council, including booting the president’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, off the council. Not long after, McMaster briefed Trump on military strike proposals against the Syrian government, something Bannon would have completely opposed.

“Bannon is a core architect of ‘America first’ unilateralism and has no interest in continuing forever-wars that lack support among the base in the region,” said Ian Bremmer, the president of the international consulting firm Eurasia Group.

However, things have not gone so smoothly for McMaster despite his keen insistence on playing such a prominent role within the Trump administration. His military strike proposals — troop deployment proposals, unannounced trips to Afghanistan, and his overhyped portrayal in the media as “an accomplished military strategist and an adept White House infighter” — may be short-lived if Bannon and Bannon’s loyalists have any say in the matter.

According to Foreign Policy, there are opponents of McMaster within the White House who want him out. Supposedly, the efforts to derail McMaster through anonymous leaks to the press (ironically, how McMaster secured his job in the first place), focus on McMaster’s policy towards Afghanistan, which could see an additional 5,000 troops deployed to the war-torn nation.

“McMaster is pushing this Afghanistan policy through. I think some people are giving him the rope to get it through, hoping he hangs himself with it,” one senior intelligence official said, as reported by Foreign Policy.

McMaster’s strategy would give overwhelming power to the Pentagon to determine troop levels, as well as broader authority to use airstrikes. Apparently, increasing troops incessantly and bombing Afghanistan into oblivion hasn’t been tried enough in the past.

According to Bloomberg’s Eli Lake, White House officials said Trump himself has clashed with McMaster directly in front of other staff. Lake reported:

“McMaster’s allies and adversaries inside the White House tell me that Trump is disillusioned with him. This professional military officer has failed to read the president  — by not giving him a chance to ask questions during briefings, at times even lecturing Trump.”

However, Lake noted that the White House issued a statement from Trump last Sunday stating, “I couldn’t be happier with H.R. [McMaster]. He’s doing a terrific job.”

This is in light of the fact that, according to Lake’s sources, Trump has privately expressed regret for choosing McMaster.

As much as the neoconservatives would like to think that by swamping Trump they can officially dictate his actions, Trump was always going to be the unscripted “wildcard” president. Easily swayed by emotion, with a brain completely detached from his own mouth, Trump was never going to satisfy both camps vying for control of his decision-making. For example, the president recently displayed a brilliant Trump-esque moment reminiscent of his election campaign when he announced that the missile defense system he deployed to South Korea (known as THAAD) would have to be paid for by South Korea.

The Wall Street Journal reported that McMaster called his South Korean counterpart to assure him that the president’s threat was not an official policy. According to Lake, these White House officials reported that in response, Trump “screamed at McMaster on a phone call, accusing him of undercutting efforts to get South Korea to pay its fair share.”

According to Lake’s informants, this is not an isolated incident. Lake noted that over the weekend, McMaster did not accompany Trump to meet with Australian prime minister Michael Turnbull but was accompanied by the outgoing deputy national security advisor, K.T. McFarland, instead.

As Foreign Policy reports, the National Security Council is still full of “Flynnstones,” a nickname given to people hand-picked to serve on the Council by McMaster’s predecessor, Michael Flynn. In that sense, McFarland is seen as a nuisance to the McMaster camp, yet not even Trump supports McFarland’s removal, as he “likes McFarland and has openly questioned why she’s leaving,” according to Foreign Policy.

Unless McMaster can completely shake the council up in his image, there will always be infighting between these two camps. Further, McMaster is an active-duty three-star general, overseeing a cabinet and military filled with four-star generals.

As Lake reported, a Flynnstone named Derek Harvey compiled a list of “Obama holdovers at the National Security Council who were suspected of leaking to the press.” Bannon and Trump pushed McMaster to fire these people but McMaster refused.

For the people of the Middle East and Asia, McMaster’s impending downfall may, in fact, be a good thing. As the Trump presidency continues to unravel like the spectacle it has become, continue to expect the unexpected. As stated by Lake:

“For now the White House is saying the president and his national security adviser are in sync. Trump said in his statement to me that he couldn’t be happier with the general. Of course, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway assured the public in February that Trump had full confidence in McMaster’s predecessor. Only a few hours later, he was forced to resign.”

McMaster Responds To Wapo: "I Was In The Room, It Didn't Happen. The Story Is False"

Following the latest provocative story from the Washington Post earlier suggesting that Trump shared "highly classified information" with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during their White House meeting last week, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster just spoke to reporters outside the White House to offer an unequivocal denial of the story: "The story that came out tonight as reported is false. I was in the room.  It didn"t happen." 

"There is nothing that the President takes more seriously than the security of the American people.

The story that came out tonight as reported is false.  The president the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries, including threats to civil aviation.

At no time, at no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed.  And the president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known.

Two other senior officials who were present, including the Secretary of State, remembered the meeting the same way and have said so.  Their on-the-record accounts should outweigh those of anonymous sources.

Of course, McMaster is clearly working for the Russians and we"re almost certain that anonymous sources will approach Wapo with evidence of such at some point in the very near future.

McMaster: "Working With China On Range Of Options" To Respond To North Korea Provocation

President Trump"s top security advisor, Lt Gen HR McMaster told ABC News that the US and China are "working on a range of options" on North Korea, adding that there is consensus that this was a "situation that just can"t continue" as tensions mount over the country"s nuclear and missile programs.  McMaster also called the regime in North Korea "hostile" and said said that Sunday"s failed test fit into a pattern of "provocative and destabilizing and threatening behavior on the part of the North Korean regime."

"There is an international consensus now, including the Chinese leadership, that this is a situation that just cannot continue," McMaster said adding that "this latest missile test just fits into a pattern of provocative and destabilizing and threatening behavior on the part of the North Korean regime."

McMaster also said that North Korea"s Kim is unpredictable and has demonstrated his brutality.

The comments followed a statement by a White House advisor who told Reuters that the "U.S. doesn’t need to expend any resources reacting to failed missile launch by North Korea" who added that the U.S. wasn’t surprised by the launch and was “anticipating” it.

Additionally, during the interview, McMaster said the U.S. relationship with Russia can only improve. McMaster was asked about what gave President Trump confidence that things would "work out fine" between the U.S. and Russia," referring to a tweet last week from the president. "Well, when relations are at the lowest point, there’s nowhere to go but up," McMaster said.

He said he thinks Secretary of State Rex Tillerson"s visit to Russia was "perfectly timed."

"Russia has given support to a murderous regime in Syria that has perpetuated a civil war and as cycle of violence that," McMaster said. "Along with obviously the brutal - the brutal efforts of and actions of ISIS, have brought suffering to so many people, have created a crisis within Syria that has bled over into Iraq, and of course has bled over into neighboring countries and into Europe and so forth."

McMaster called Russia"s support for that "kind of horrible regime" something that "has to be drawn into question."

"And so I think it’s time though, now, to have those tough discussions Russia.  And there’s nobody to do it than our Secretary of State," he said. "And then also to find areas of cooperation."

McMaster also touched on US involvement in the Syria proxy war and when asked if the US needs more troops in Syria, he responded that "that remains to be seen" adding "I don"t think so"

As a reminder, last week several unconfirmed reports from both Mike Chernovic and Bloomberg suggested that McMaster is pushing for anywhere between 50,000 and 150,000 more troops in Syria.

McMaster is currently in Afghanistan where he met with officials in Kabul amid questions over the new administration"s plans for the military mission in Afghanistan after American forces unleashed a huge bomb there on militants. McMaster met President Ashraf Ghani and other senior Afghan officials to discuss bilateral ties, security, counter- terrorism, reforms, and development, according to a statement on the palace"s Twitter account.

The visit by H.R. McMaster, the first high-level visit by a Trump official, came just days after the U.S. military sparked controversy by dropping a GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, one of the largest conventional weapons ever used in combat, during an operation on Thursday against Islamic State militants in eastern Afghanistan.

As Reuters notes, while military officials said the strike was based solely on tactical needs, it led to speculation that Trump"s defence advisers are planning to escalate the war against militants in Afghanistan.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump tweeted that he was working with China "on the North Korean problem" suggesting that this was quid-pro-quo in exchange for not calling China a currency manipulator.

Bannon Goes Bust

(ZHE) In what may be the most dramatic shake-up at the White House since Mike Flynn resigned in February, moments ago Bloomberg reported that President Trump has reorganized his National Security Council on Wednesday, removing his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon and stripping him of his security clearance as well as downgrading the role of his Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Bossert, while elevating national intelligence director, Dan Coats, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford, who will again be “regular attendees” of the NSC’s principals committee.

The WSJ adds that “the decision to boot Bannon was made by Trump’s new national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.”

Bannon said in a statement: “Susan Rice operationalized the NSC during the last administration. I was put on to ensure that it was de-operationalized. General McMaster has returned the NSC to its proper function.”

Additionally, the Joint Chiefs chairman and intelligence director are having their roles on the principals committee restored, the report said.

Bloomberg adds that Susan Rice’s successor, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, was given responsibility for setting the agenda for meetings of the NSC or the Homeland Security Council, and was authorized to delegate that authority to Bossert, at his discretion, according to the filing.

A White House official said that Bannon was placed on the committee in part to monitor Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and never attended a meeting. He’s no longer needed with McMaster in charge of the council, the official said.

The memorandum also makes the director of the Central Intelligence Agency a permanent member of the principals committee and restores the chairman of the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence as permanent members after they were initially downgraded from that status.

As a reminder, back in January, in the first of many unexpected shakeups, Bannon was elevated to a position on the NSC principals committee. The move drew criticism from some members of Congress and Washington’s foreign policy establishment.

It was not immediately clear if the shake up is indicative of a major split between Trump and his right hand man and chief ideological advisor, or if Bannon was simply seen as irrelevant in his current post.
