HR McMaster: Trump’s Ally or Enemy?

[image: theatlantic.com]As National Security Advisor, he holds one of the top Trump administration positions, able to exert considerable influence on America’s geopolitical agenda.

In April, investigative journalist Mike Cernovich accused him of “manipulating intelligence reports given to President Donald Trump,” adding:

He’s “plotting how to sell a massive ground war in Syria,” complicit with retired general/disgraced former CIA director David Petraeus, wanting “150,000” US ground troops in Syria.

He urged sending 50,000 more US forces to Afghanistan, discussed in an earlier article, wanting America’s long ago lost war, its longest in modern times, waged longer.

Because of leaking classified information to his mistress, Petraeus’ security clearance was revoked. Unnamed sources told Cernovich that McMaster is sharing classified information with him anyway.

On his mcmasterleaks.com web site, Cernovich said McMaster hired two allies of Ben Rhodes, Obama administration deputy national security advisor for strategic communications.

He hasn’t replaced Obama NSA holdovers hostile to Trump. He fired Trump loyalists Robin Townley, Derek Harvey, and Adam Lovinger.

Other NSC staffers removed include Tara Dahl and Ezra Cohen-Watnick. Trump’s intervention preventing Sebastian Gorka’s firing.

McMaster “fired Rich Higgins for writing a memo criticizing Islamic terrorism.” He publicly “correct(ed) and contradict(ed) Trump.”

Obama’s national security advisor, Susan Rice, caught unmasking Americans in a spying scandal, publicly hostile to Trump, is advising McMaster, according to Cernovich.

Trump ally KT McFarland was replaced by Petraeus loyalist Ricky Waddell. Chief White House strategist Steve Bannon was removed from his National Security Council position, though still reportedly attends NSC meetings.

On August 8,  Infowars reported McMaster’s alleged connection to international con man/staunch undemocratic Democrat party supporter George Soros. It quoted political consultant/Trump loyalist Roger Stone saying:

“I have confirmed from sources from inside the White House, the Israeli government and Israeli intelligence that the Israelis have intercepted email communications from General McMaster to George Soros, informing him of everything that’s going on inside the White House.”

“…I have double checked this with two different sources very high up in Israeli intelligence, and I actually expect the Israeli ambassador to the US to confirm this.”

It suggests McMaster may be involved in White House leaks, Soros through his operatives passing them on to media scoundrels.

According to Stone, Soros “penetrated the Trump White House” with Brookings Center on the United States and Europe director Fiona Hill appointed to the National Security Council.

She’s connected to Soros’ Open Society Institute, said Stone. According to Cernovich, “McMaster is a leaker who hires leakers.”

Zbigniew Brzezinski, The Man Who Trained Osama Bin Laden in Warfare, Dead at 89

Zbigniew Brzezinski, one of the most influential US political thinkers at the height of the Cold War, has died aged 89, according to his daughter. The advocate of US hegemony, Brzezinski, authored numerous proposals to bring down the Soviet Union.

“My father passed away peacefully tonight,” his daughter and MSNBC anchor Mika Brzezinski wrote. There was no word of the cause of death.

Arming the Mujahideen in Afghanistan to bleed the Soviets, transforming Iran into an anti-Western republic, and the brokering of the Camp David Accords – are among the best known outcomes of his strategies.

Brzezinski inadvertently helped create Al-Qaeda, when he convinced President Carter that running a secret CIA program to launch a proxy-war against the USSR-backed Afghan government was going to “induce a Soviet military intervention.”

“We didn’t push the Russians to intervene, but we knowingly increased the probability that they would,” he said in a 1998 interview with Le Nouvel Observateur.

“The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter, essentially: ‘We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war."”

“That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it?” he told the interviewer.

“What is more important in world history? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some agitated Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?”

Less than four years later, those “agitated Moslems” would destroy the World Trade Center and damage the Pentagon, setting off the endless “war on terror” that continues to this day.

Brzezinski was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1928, according to official biography. Other sources speculate that he was actually born in a Polish Consulate in the Ukrainian town of Kharkov, which at the time was part of the USSR, but his parents registered him as having been born in Poland and not the Soviet Union.

He graduated from Harvard with a PhD in political science with a thesis on the formation of a totalitarian system in the USSR – and became author of a global strategy on anti-Communism and the concept of a new form of American hegemony.

“The defeat and collapse of the Soviet Union was the final step in the rapid ascendance of a Western Hemisphere power, the United States, as the sole and, indeed, the first truly global power,” Brzezinski wrote in his 1998 book The Grand Chessboard.

However, in one of his latest articles in the American Interest journal the Polish-born diplomat asserted the US is “no longer the globally imperial power” and “can only be effective in dealing with the current Middle Eastern violence if it forges a coalition that involves, in varying degrees, also Russia and China.”

In the sixties, he served as an advisor to the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and his tough stance towards the Soviet Union never waned. In the Carter years, Brzezinski became National Security advisor and was considered the president’s right-hand man. During the Clinton administration, the hawkish statesman was the main voice pushing for NATO’s eastward expansion.

Trump Chooses Hawkish National Security Advisor

On Monday, Trump named hawkish Army Lt. General HR McMaster to replace Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor (NSA).

Political pressure lead to his unfortunate sacking for harmlessly discussing sanctions with Russia’s US ambassador.

Twice passed over for brigadier general, McMaster earned two more stars in less than six years after getting his first one, a remarkable advancement – given to warriors, not peace advocates.

As a lieutenant general, he was US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) deputy commanding general in charge of the Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC) – tasked with devising strategies for America’s next war and how to win it.

Known as a tough, outspoken, detail-oriented intellectual with a reputation for battlefield acumen, he remains on active duty in his new position.

Acting National Security Advisor General Keith Kellogg will work with him as chief of staff, Trump announced.

A 1984 West Point graduate, McMaster earned a doctorate in American history at the University of North Carolina. His dissertation criticized US Vietnam War strategy, explained further in his book titled “Dereliction of Duty.”

The war’s illegality went unmentioned, US naked aggression against Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, nations threatening no others.

As a captain, McMaster won a Silver Star for service during the 1991 Gulf War, illegal by any standard, a walkover from mid-January to February 28, massacring tens of thousands of Iraqis. US aggression remains ongoing, defenseless civilians suffering most.

During Bush/Cheney’s war on Iraq, McMaster served under General David Petraeus, involved in his so-called counterterrorism operations.

Known for challenging conventional wisdom, a White House spokeswoman said Trump “gave full authority for McMaster to hire whatever staff he sees fit.”

Passed over for NSA, Trump said former UN envoy (neocon) John Bolton will serve in an unspecified administration role, a disturbing development, given his rage for endless wars.

McMaster will be chief advisor to the president on national security issues, a major administration position, needing no Senate confirmation.

He’s a warrior, in 2015 saying “(w)hat we have to do is really develop the ability to think clearly about future war.” Last spring, he lied, accusing Russia of invading Ukraine and annexing Crimea. “What is needed is forward deterrence,” he advised. Not good signs!

Washington has lots of hawks, doves in short supply – especially with disturbing hostility toward Russia, China and Iran, risking direct confrontation.

BREAKING: Trump’s Nat’l Security Advisor Resigns Over Russian Blackmail Scandal

Washington, D.C. — (RT) National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, Michael Flynn, has resigned, following a scandal over a conversation with a Russian ambassador.

Trump named retired Lt. General Joseph Keith Kellogg, Jr. as Acting National Security Advisor, according to Flynn’s resignation letter. Trump is reportedly considering other permanent replacements.

“In the course of my duties as the incoming National Security Advisor, I held numerous phone calls with foreign counterparts, ministers, and ambassadors,” Flynn wrote. “These calls were to facilitate a smooth transition and begin to build the necessary relationships between the President, his advisors and foreign leaders. Such calls are standard practice in any transition of this magnitude.”

“Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with the incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology.”

Media outlets speculated in recent days over the contents and consequences of the phone call between Flynn and Russian Ambassador Sergey I. Kislak. The New York Times reported Monday that officials close to Vice President Mike Pence said Pence believed Flynn was lying when he downplayed his conversation with Kislak, based on unreleased transcripts of their talk. The Washington Post reported that former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and a national security official told White House consel Donald McGahn that Flynn was possibly vulnerable to Russian blackmail attempts.

The Russian government has stated that sanctions did not come up during the phone call.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov assured reporters on Monday that Flynn and Kislyak had not discussed lifting sanctions, and neither had any other official Russian and US representatives.

“We have already said there have not been any [such talks].

“Obviously every ambassador informs the [authorities in Moscow] about all the contacts he has so the information gets to us, but we are not willing to comment on internal discussions being held in Washington,” Peskov said.

Flynn’s 24-day run on the National Security Committee was the shortest stint as national security advisor ever.
