Meltdown And Spectre, What You Need To Know : ‘Everyone Out There Can Be Affected By This!’

intelchip

Two major flaws in computer chips (dubbed Meltdown and Spectre) could leave a huge number of computers and smartphones vulnerable to security concerns. The flaws could allow an attacker to read sensitive data stored in the memory, like passwords, or look at what tabs someone has open on their computer, and everyone can be affected.

Researchers discovered Meltdown and Spectre last week. Daniel Gruss, a researcher from Graz University of Technology who helped identify the flaw, said it may be difficult to execute an attack, but billions of devices were impacted. In fact, Apple has said that all Macs and iOS devices have been somehow impacted by these chip flaws.

According to CNN Tech, the flaws exist in processors, the building blocks of computers that act as the brain. Modern processors are designed to perform something called “speculative execution.” That means they predict what tasks they will be asked to execute and rapidly access multiple areas of memory at the same time.

But Joe Joseph of the Daily Sheeple believes that this is a very big deal and one that hasn’t really gotten much time on the mainstream media’s news cycle. “Is it fear mongering?” Joseph asks. “Maybe. Maybe not.”

The chips themselves need to be replaced to completely fix this problem. Which is part of the larger issue, considering the Intel chips are found in everything from personal computers to medical equipment. Researchers say that almost every computing system, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and cloud servers, is affected by the Spectre bug. Meltdown appears to be specific to Intel (INTC) chips. “More specifically, all modern processors capable of keeping many instructions in flight are potentially vulnerable. In particular, we have verified Spectre on Intel, AMD, and ARM processors,” the researchers said.

“This seems to me to be a little fishy,” Joseph says. “I think at its core, we are subject to vulnerabilities on various things; whether it be software, whether it be hardware, we’re always subjected to these vulnerabilities. Not to mention, how many backdoors have been built into existing software, brought to you by Microsoft and Google and other manufacturers where government has basically demanded that these backdoors be put in there. I mean, we allow it anyway.

That is not to say this is not important, Joseph says. The fix is just so “gargantuan” in nature, adding to trepidations. “I don’t know if anybody’s checked, but processor chips aren’t cheap,” Joseph adds. Then he continues, saying: “Think about this…”

“China owns 90% of the rare earth elements mined in the world. 90%! A lot of these chips rely on rare earth elements to be manufactured. Now, we are beholden to China to get the resources to replace all these chips. That’s gonna take time. So, there’s a lot of things here that kinda smell fishy to me,” Joseph said.

There are plenty of red flags surrounding this vulnerability. Joseph only mentions a few, but it should not be taken lightly. There are government officials and perhaps deep state officials as well, already neck deep in the waters of potentiality. This appears to be fear mongering at its finest, but that doesn’t negate the fact that everyone should keep an eye on Spectre and Meltdown.

Qualcomm Files Lawsuit Seeking To Ban Sale And Manufacture Of iPhones In China

Apple experienced a sudden air pocket dip (which was promptly bought) after a Bloomberg report that Qualcomm has filed lawsuits in China seeking to "ban the sale and manufacture of iPhones in the country," a move which is the chipmaker’s biggest shot at Apple so far in a bitter legal fight between the two companies.

San Diego-based Qualcomm filed the suits in a Beijing intellectual property court claiming patent infringement and seeking injunctive relief, according to Christine Trimble, a company spokeswoman, and hopes to inflict pain on Apple in the world’s largest market for smartphones, cutting off production in a country where most iPhones are made.  Greater China accounted for 22.5% of Apple’s $215.6 billion sales in fiscal 2016.

"Apple employs technologies invented by Qualcomm without paying for them," Trimble said.

The two companies have lobbed legal shots and lawsuits at each other for years, and are currently months into a legal dispute that centers on Qualcomm’s technology licensing business. While Qualcomm gets the majority of its sales from making phone chips, it pulls in most of its profit from charging fees for patents that cover the fundamentals of all modern phone systems. The suits come at a sensitive time for Apple, which just introduced iPhone 8 and X models which aim at "reasserting leadership in a market that’s steeped in competition from fast-growing Chinese makers."

Suppliers and assemblers in China are rushing to churn out as many new iPhones as possible ahead of the key holiday season, so any disruptions would likely be costly. As reported yesterday, the iPhone X is already suffering major problems involving its facial recognition technology, which if unresolved could lead to product launch delays.

Some more details from Bloomberg on the latest litigation:

The legal battle started earlier this year when Apple filed an antitrust suit against Qualcomm arguing that the chipmaker’s licensing practices are unfair, and that it abused its position as the biggest supplier of chips in phones. Qualcomm charges a percentage of the price of each handset regardless of whether it includes a chip from the company, and Apple issick of paying those fees.

Qualcomm has countered with a patent suit and argued that Cupertino, California-based Apple encouraged regulators from South Korea to the U.S. to take action against it based on false testimony. Earlier this week, Qualcomm was fined a record NT$23.4 billion ($773 million) by Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission, a ruling the company is appealing. Qualcomm is also asking U.S. authoriti

While on the surface the latest legal salvo may sound serious, the market"s reaction - to this as well as to everything else - has been largely negligible, as BTFD algos rushedin to quickly fill the gap created by triggerhappy sellers.

Nunes calls Comey, Rogers, for “closed session” after finding “concerning info” in intel reports

Last night we highlighted a Fox News story which suggested that Devin Nunes expected the NSA to deliver a “smoking gun” which would prove that the Obama administration spied on the Trump transition team, and possibly the president-elect himself, as early as today.

Moments ago, Nunes fanned that speculation by holding an impromptu press conference announcing that he’ll call both FBI Director Comey and NSA Director Rogers before a closed session of the House Intelligence Committee to discuss topics which “they couldn’t answer in a public setting.”

Here is Nunes’s full statement:

And some early takeaways:

“There are just questions that we have for Dir. Comey and Adm. Rogers probably that they couldn’t answer in a public setting.”

Nunes also revealed that President Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, has volunteered to testify before the House Intelligence Committee on his alleged connections to Russia.

“We thank Mr. Manafort for volunteering and encourage others with knowledge of these issues to voluntarily interview with the committee.”

Nunes continues to decline requests from the press to reveal his sources…

But did confirm there was “no wiretapping of Trump Tower; That didn’t happen.”

This follows Nunes’s appearance on Fox News last night in which he declared he had an obligation to raise issues he’s discovered about the unmasking of Americans’ names during serveillance.

@DevinNunes on “incidental” surveillance revelations: I had a duty and obligation to tell the President.

“What I saw had nothing to do with Russia. This has nothing to do with the Russia investigation.”

“The lack of a leak investigation is quite concerning. We need to make sure that these leaks are being tracked down.”

I have information that indicates Americans’ names were unmasked during surveillance.

“Clearly when I see a problem, I’m going to point it out.”

“Names for sure if they’re picked up in any incidental collection of any kind, they should be minimized.”

Meanwhile, proving that Nunes may actually be on to something here, WaPo has quickly called for an immediate investigation into his behavior.

“They Are Taking Out Trump’s Lieutenants”: Deep State Intelligence Ops Sabotaging the White House?

Do you see the writing on the wall? Do you see what is happening here?

If there was any doubt that the Trump era will eventually unfold into either a) revolution and total chaos, b) a police state under martial law or c) a coup or assassination against the leader of the free world, then it should be clear from this.

Behind the scenes, the intelligence community are at war with President Donald Trump.

He has refused to attend CIA briefings; they have sabotaged his National Security Advisor by leaking classified communications with the explicit purpose of undermining the new administration and stoking tensions with Russia.

If Gen. Mike Flynn can be removed, it not only challenges the power of the Trump White House but builds upon the false narrative that Russia has been involved in hacking, cyber attacks and undermining legitimate U.S. power.

Greg Hunter of USA Watchdog spoke with the very insightful Catherine Austin Fitts about the palace intrigue and cloak-and-dagger inner-workings of the new administration, and the creatures of the establishment who resent their rival claim to power over U.S. policy. This is truly historical stuff going on:

Catherine Austin Fitts-Trump Taking On Corruption & Lawlessness

How many other Trump administration officials will be mired in scandal, or ousted by bad optics? When they go down, will we know whether it was for good reason or not? There are many unaddressed issues with Mike Flynn, but the implications are disturbing. The news media is blatantly distorted, and no mainstream accounts can be trusted anymore.

But there is no real way for the average citizen to know what is going on behind closed doors in Washington, etc. without solid, accountable, transparent and accurate reporting – and virtually nothing of the sort exists in Washington or elsewhere.

The CIA and national security deep state would love for the American people to believe the notion that Putin represents a hostile and immediate threat, and that the entire Trump presidency has been a Trojan horse scheme to advance Russian interest. But, if nobody buys it, they at least want the American people to know who holds the ultimate power.

Hypocrisy and true intent mean nothing to these people. They must have it their way, and they will stop at nothing to get their agenda settled. They are at war with Trump, and he will either bend or break, as far as they’re concerned.

If that is the case, then there is no “democracy” or “constitutional republic.” The American Dream and the republic for which it stands are null and void, because the shadow government stole unchecked power from the gods like Prometheus, and have kept it to themselves rather than distributing the power.

The 1947 National Security Act set the CIA on a long-leash, that thereafter either came loose around its neck, or snapped under pressure.

And here’s what former Rep. Dennis Kucinich told Fox Business, warning America that the intelligence community was actively trying to undermine the Trump Administration, and are targeting his top cabinet officials. The resignation of Gen. Mike Flynn may be just the beginning:

Intel community trying to undermine Trump’s presidency?

These will be some trying times for America.

Internal turmoil, war within and war without. Stay on watch.

Judge: US Intelligence Likely Leaked DNC Emails, Not Russians

Judge: US Intelligence Likely Leaked DNC Emails, Not Russians

Disgruntled intel workers were angry that Hillary exposed classified information

Steve Watson | Infowars.com December 14, 2016

While Democrats, sore losers and the butthurt corporate media continue to yell ‘THE RUSSIANS DID IT’ or something… a sane voice noted that it is far more likely that it was in fact people within the US intelligence community who leaked the DNC emails to Wikileaks, which ultimately wound up affecting the election result, so the left would have America believe.

Appearing on Varney and Co., Judge Andrew Napolitano told Stewart Varney that he has a source inside the intelligence community who is adamant that insiders leaked the damning emails to Wikileaks, and the Vladimir Putin and Russia had nothing to do with it.

“There is NO EVIDENCE that this was done by the Russians.” Napolitano stated, adding “But there is evidence for this. Who was harmed by Mrs. Clinton’s extremely careless use of state secrets? Whose agents’ lives were jeopardized by her failure to keep these state secrets? The American intelligence community.”

“It is more likely than not that members of the American intelligence community leaked this to Julian Assange than that the Russians did… The suggestion comes from members of the intelligence community.” Napolitano noted.

Napolitano has made the same claims before, stating that members of the intelligence community simply did not want Hillary Clinton to be President of the United States.

As Infowars reported in November, days before the election, numerous trustworthy sources have claimed that the Podesta hack, which led to Wikileaks releasing tens of thousands of Clinton campaign emails, as well as other hacks targeting the Democratic Party, were the work of U.S. intelligence operatives attempting to save America from a Clinton presidency.

William Binney, NSA whistleblower and former technical head of the NSA, also told Infowars back in August that the email leaks were carried out by individuals within the US intelligence community who were angry at Hillary exposing classified information and sought to take revenge.

“The CIA and FBI examined the exact same data that was produced for them by the NSA.” Napolitano said.

“The CIA analysts said the Russians are behind this. The FBI analysts said there is no evidence that the Russians are behind this. We do know this was leaking. This was not hacking. Leaking is the unauthorized exposure of something to a person to whom it wasn’t intended. Hacking is the altering of an operational system… You can’t affect the outcome of the election if you hack Clinton and the DNC. You can affect the outcome of an election if you affect those who register the voters or count the voters.”

Napolitano’s analysis also dovetails with that of former British ambassador Craig Murray, who was told by security insiders that the email leak “comes from within official circles in Washington DC.”
