As the political coup against President Donald Trump continues, I was recently reminded of a 1964 film entitled Seven Days in May starring Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Fredric March, and Ava Gardner. Paradoxically, the screenplay was written by Rod Serling, the same guy who created and narrated The Twilight Zone.

Coincidence? But I digress.

Serling’s screenplay was, in fact, based upon the novel of the same name that was written by the authors Fletcher Knebel and Charles W. Bailey II. Published during the first year of John F. Kennedy’s presidency, the book was actually read by JFK who not only shared it with those in his circle, but also encouraged the production of the film. Unfortunately, however, President Kennedy never lived to see the movie play on the big screen.

The story of Seven Days In May describes a coup d’etat against a sitting president who desired peace with the Russians. Those behind the conspiracy believed the Russians could not be trusted and therefore took matters into their own hands by way of a scheme dubbed ECOMCON (Emergency Communications Control). The strategy was to assume command over America’s telephone, communications, radio, and television networks in an attempt to forestall the president’s plan from being implemented by Congress.

The plot seems eerily familiar, no?

The narrator of the film’s classic movie trailer frames it thusly:

There are some who will say: ‘It can never happen here’. But this is the story of how it could happen in seven days of intrigue, of blackmail, of terror; an eternity of suspense. This is the astounding story of a military plot to overthrow the government of the United States; which, if successful, will change the fate of every American.

Does life imitate art? You decide.

May 1, 2018

– On May Day, special counsel Robert Mueller’s questions for Trump became the lead story across all media platforms. The questions, which could have been leaked either by the special counsel’s office or someone from Trump’s team, revealed an emphasis on obstruction of justice over Russian collusion.

– In an continuing effort to eliminate conservative voices from Facebook before the 2018 midterm elections, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company had implemented a system to rank news organizations based on “trustworthiness” in an effort to suppress content based on that metric and eliminate hate speech.

– In response to outright censorship initiatives imposed by Twitter, Facebook, Google, and YouTube:  Sixty-three conservative leaders issued a joint statement demanding fairer social media policies.

May 2, 2018

– Michael Caputo, a former Trump campaign consultant who lost his house to legal fees because the Democrats lost the 2016 election – damned them all to hell for their “witch hunt” congressional Russia probe.

May 3, 2018

– Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, made it very clear that he and the Department of Justice were no longer subject to congressional oversight.

– In response to having lost his attorney-client privilege, President Donald Trump acknowledged that he did, in fact, reimburse his attorney for hush money paid to a porn star. This, after he previously denied any knowledge of the matter just 28 days before.

May 4, 2018

– After weeks of stalling and stonewalling by the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI, redactions were lifted on two pages of the Russia report. Therein, it was revealed that both former FBI directors, James Comey and Andrew McCabe, believed that Trump’s former national security advisor, Michael Flynn, never lied in his statements to the FBI. Therefore, the unredacted revelations also proved that Comey lied to Fox News’, Brett Baier, in an interview the week before.

– A federal judge overseeing the Paul Manafort case accused Robert Mueller’s team of lying and trying to target Trump.

– Another judge denied Robert Mueller’s request  to delay the first court hearing in a criminal case charging three Russian companies, and 13 Russian citizens, for Donald Trump’s 2016 U.S. Presidential Election win.

– It was revealed that former Secretary of State, John Kerry, never actually stepped down from that position as he continued to conduct secret diplomacy on behalf of the shadow state; even to the point of attempting to salvage the Iran deal he helped craft.

– The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) released a report revealing a sharp increase of U.S. call records. The 534 million records of phone calls and text messages of Americans in 2017 were triple of what was gathered in 2016.

May 5, 2018

– The New York Times published an article on President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, and labeled him a “fixer” who “built a shadowy business empire”.

May 6, 2018

– It was revealed FBI Director, Christopher Wray, had informed the Senate Judiciary Committee the FBI would NOT be investigating the illegal text communications that anti-trump FBI co-conspirators, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, sent to each other on their personal devices. This resulted in an angry response, with even more questions and demands, from Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA).

May 7, 2018

– President Donald Trump said he was he “fighting back” against the Russia probe and warned the “13 angry democrats” on the special counsel’s team regarding their “conflicts of interest”.

– “Allies and adversaries alike” worried about President Trump’s Tweet regarding his forthcoming announcement on the Iran nuclear accord; which caught “even most of his senior national security staff by surprise”.

– While “fighting for the democracy” and “for America”, California Congresswoman Maxine Waters shouted “damn this president” at a unionized workers rally in Los Angeles.

Obviously, there is a war going on in the highest offices of the land. What moves, and countermoves, will be made next?

Could the elite bankers drop the stock market by 50% and, thus, create a blue wave in the midterm elections? Will Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, and the mysterious prosecutor, U.S. attorney John Huber, conveniently die in a plane crash as did the fictional presidential aide, Paul Girard, in the film Seven Days in May? Or, at the very least, will these men find allegorical bloody horseheads in their beds?

In the Seven Days in May film, the president withstood the coup, he emerged victorious, and the movie ended with a display of the U.S. Constitution.

Could Trump also prevail in making America great again?

Or will the global elite powerbrokers, and their deep state minions, succeed in burning down the United States so their New World Order can rise, like a phoenix, from the ashes?

Who, ultimately, has the real power?

Ex-FBI Director Comey: Trump ‘morally unfit’ to be president

Intellihub editor’s note: Statements made James Comey on ABC’s 20/20 reveal the former FBI Director is a hypocrite. The fact of the matter is, Comey has been involved in the cover up of every major terror attack since the Oklahoma City Bombing. He is as dirty as they get.

Former FBI Director James Comey has accused US President Donald Trump of being “morally unfit” for the presidency and treating women like “pieces of meat” in his first television interview since being fired last year.

Speaking to ABC’s 20/20 programme, Comey said: “The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him”.

The television interview on Sunday comes ahead of the release of Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty, on Tuesday.

Probe uncovers “laws broken, false statements” in F.B.I. handling of Clinton emails

In what could be a major black eye for the deep state and yet another nail in the Clinton legacy coffin, The Hill’s John Solomon reports that Republicans on key congressional committees say they have uncovered new irregularities and contradictions inside the FBI’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s email server.

“This was an effort to pre-bake the cake, pre-bake the outcome,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), a House Judiciary Committee member who attended the McCabe briefing before the holidays.

“Hillary Clinton obviously benefited from people taking actions to ensure she wasn’t held accountable.”

In what appears to be clear evidence confirming previous fears of favoritism and prejudice within the FBI, lawmakers and investigators told Solomon at The Hill that, for the first time, investigators say they have secured written evidence that the FBI believed there was evidence that some laws were broken when the former secretary of State and her top aides transmitted classified information through her insecure private email server.

That evidence includes passages in FBI documents stating the “sheer volume” of classified information that flowed through Clinton’s insecure emails was proof of criminality as well as an admission of false statements by one key witness in the case, the investigators said.

The name of the witness is redacted from the FBI documents but lawmakers said he was an employee of a computer firm that helped maintain her personal server after she left office as America’s top diplomat and who belatedly admitted he had permanently erased an archive of her messages in 2015 after they had been subpoenaed by Congress.

The investigators also confirmed that the FBI began drafting a statement exonerating Clinton of any crimes while evidence responsive to subpoenas was still outstanding and before agents had interviewed more than a dozen key witnesses.

Those witnesses included Clinton and the computer firm employee who permanently erased her email archives just days after the emails were subpoenaed by Congress, the investigators said.

Notably, lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee who attended a Dec. 21 closed-door briefing by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe say the bureau official confirmed that the investigation and charging decisions were controlled by a small group in Washington headquarters rather the normal process of allowing field offices to investigate possible criminality in their localities.

The top Democrat on the panel even acknowledged the FBI’s handling of the case was unique, but, of course, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y) argued Republicans are politicizing their own panel’s work.

Rep. Gaetz said he has growing questions about the role the Obama Justice Department played in the case.

“I think we have more questions than answers based on what we’ve learned,” Gaetz said.

A House GOP lawmaker told The Hill his staff also has identified at least a dozen interviews that were conducted after the drafting effort began, including of some figures who would have key information about intent or possible destruction of evidence.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-Iowa) staff has a higher number: 17 witnesses including Clinton were interviewed after the decision was already made.

“Making a conclusion before you interview key fact witnesses and the subject herself violates the very premise of good investigation. You don’t lock into a theory until you have the facts. Here the evidence that isn’t public yet shows they locked into the theory and then edited out the facts that contradicted it,” the GOP lawmaker said, speaking only on condition of anonymity because the documents are not yet authorized for release.

The longtime Senate chairman went to the Senate floor before the holidays to raise another concern: the FBI did not pursue criminal charges when Clinton’s email archives were permanently deleted from her private server days after a subpoena for them was issued by a congressional committee investigating the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi.

The deletion occurred on the same day Clinton’s former chief of staff and her lawyer had a call with the computer firm that handled the erasure using an anti-recovery software called BleachBit, Grassley said.

“You have a conference call with Secretary Clinton’s attorneys on March 31, 2015, and on that very same day her emails are deleted by someone who was on that conference call using special BleachBit software,” Grassley said. “The emails were State Department records under subpoena by Congress.

“What did the FBI do to investigate this apparent obstruction?” Grassley asked. “According to affidavits filed in federal court — absolutely nothing. The FBI focused only on the handling of classified information.”

As The Hill notes,  both parties are likely to learn more in the first quarter of 2018 when the Justice Department inspector general is expected to release initial findings in what has become a wide-ranging probe into the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email case as well as whether agents and supervisors had political connections, ethical conflicts or biases that affected their work.

While the resistance tries to switch the narrative to Papadopoulos, and away from Page and the Trump Dossier, it is becoming clearer and clearer where the real corruption was all the time.

FBI fires suspected leaker and Comey ally James Baker

Just hours after FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe delivered private testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, his boss, FBI Director Christopher Wray, announced that the bureau’s top lawyer would be leaving his post, an attempt to bring in “new blood” to an agency whose reputation has been hopelessly compromised by revelations that agents’ partisan bias may have influenced two high-profile investigations involving President Donald Trump and his former campaign rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

As the Washington Post reported, the FBI’s top lawyer, James Baker, is being reassigned. WaPo says Baker’s removal is part of Wray’s effort to assemble his own team of senior advisers while he tries to defuse allegations of partisanship that have plagued the bureau in recent months.

But reports published over the summer said Baker was “the top suspect” in an interagency leak investigation, as we reported back in July

Three sources, with knowledge of the investigation, told Circa that Baker is the top suspect in an ongoing leak investigation, but Circa has not been able to confirm the details of what national security information or material was allegedly leaked.

A federal law enforcement official with knowledge of ongoing internal investigations in the bureau told Circa, “the bureau is scouring for leakers and there’s been a lot of investigations.”

The revelation comes as the Trump administration has ramped up efforts to contain leaks both within the White House and within its own national security apparatus.

The news of the staff shakeup comes as Trump and his political allies have promised to “rebuild” the FBI to make it “bigger and better than ever” following its “disgraceful” conduct over the Trump probe. Baker played a key role in the agency’s handling of major cases and policy debates in recent years, including the FBI’s unsuccessful battle with Apple over the growing use of encryption in cellphones.

Wray has, of course, resisted Congress’s push to learn more about senior agent Peter Strzok, who was a key player in both the Clinton investigation and the Trump probe. Strzok was exposed last month for exchanging anti-Trump texts with FBI attorney Lisa Page, with whom he was having an affair. Strzok played important roles with both investigations. Later, it was revealed that his edits to Clinton’s exoneration letter went further than had been previously disclosed.

According to WaPo, Baker told colleagues he will be taking on other duties at the FBI. Unsurprisingly, the Jeff Bezos-owned paper describes Baker as “one of the most trusted, longest-serving national security officials in the US. He has served as the head of the FBI’s Office of General Counsel for several years.”

Of course, WaPo says Baker’s reassignment has nothing to do with the leak investigation, which ended without any publicly disclosed findings. It’s also unclear what, exactly, Baker was suspected of leaking.

Baker is reportedly a very close to former FBI director James B. Comey, who asked Baker to be his general counsel. The two men were colleagues at the Justice Department and when they were out of government at Bridgewater Associates, an investment management firm.

It’s notable that Baker’s departure comes six months after the leaking scandal, and just days after AG Jeff Sessions reportedly asked DOJ prosecutors to begin asking FBI agents about the details of the Uranium One investigation. A sign that the bureau is finally moving to address concerns expressed by Republican lawmakers about bias that may have favored Clinton.

Baker’s head is the third to roll in the “housecleaning” that saw the FBI sanction Strzok and Bruce Ohr, a senior DOJ official who reportedly concealed his wife’s ties to opposition research firm Fusion GPS – the firm that supervised the creation of the infamous “Trump dossier.”

It was also revealed recently that Baker’s name is on a list of DOJ officials who are expected to receive a subpoena to testify before the House Intelligence Committee. Strzok and Ohr’s names are also on that list.

If that’s any indication of what’s to come, we doubt this will be the last time we hear Baker’s name.

Boasberg that the FBI must turn over to the court for in camera, non-public review former FBI Director James Comey’s memos allegedly detailing conversations he had with President Donald Trump:

The court, in seeking to review the documents, shows it doesn’t trust the FBI or Justice Department’s representations about the infamous Comey memos. We hope now that Americans are one step closer to knowing the facts about these memos, which were written and leaked for pernicious purposes to target a sitting president with a criminal investigation. It’s high time they begin to see the light of day. We’re glad the court followed up on our specific suggestion that it review the documents directly.

The court order tells the government to turn over the Comey memos for review by January 18. In doing so, the court rejects arguments by the Sessions Justice Department to dismiss the lawsuits seeking the Comey information.

As we previously reported, James Comey has been quite the chatterbox on Twitter since revealing his new @Comey handle - firing off tweets about nature scenes, bible quotes, social gatherings, and recently quoting himself - proclaiming how "honest" and "strong" the FBI is despite what seem to be daily revelations of the agency"s political bias. He"s quite the intellectual!

And last week, Comey threw around bible verse Amos 5:24, "But justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." Kind of ironic for a guy who couldn"t wait for "justice" to roll down before drafting Hillary Clinton"s exoneration letter.

Which brings us to Comey"s latest attempt at depth after President Trump tweeted a video of himself outside of Air Force One with the caption "On my way to Pensacola, Florida. See everyone Soon! #MAGA"

Less than an hour later, Comey tried to roast Trump with a pithy quote about grandstanding for attention - which, ironically, Comey tweeted for attention while promoting his book tour.

Sarah Sanders Lays Out The Many Ways James Comey Broke Federal Laws In Fiery Press Conference

Sarah Sanders" White House press briefings have seemingly become way more entertaining over the past couple of days.  Maybe it"s just us, but "gotcha" questions from the usual narrative-pushing mainstream media outlets that used to be quickly dismissed by Sanders are suddenly being exploited to put on a daily clinic on how to school brain-dead reporters.

The latest example came today after one such reporter had to seek clarification on why Comey"s leaking of confidential FBI property to the New York Times might violate federal laws.  Here was Sanders" response:

“The memos that Comey leaked were created on an FBI computer while he was the director.  He claims they were private property, but they clearly followed the protocol of an official FBI document."

"Leaking FBI memos on a sensitive case regardless of classification violates federal laws including the Privacy Act, standard FBI employment agreements, and nondisclosure agreements all personnel must sign. I think that is clean and clear that that would be a violation.”

“The Department of Justice has to look into any allegations of legality, whether or not something is illegal or not — that"s not up to me to decide."

“What I"ve said and what I"m talking about are facts. James Comey"s leaking of information, questionable statements under oath, politicizing investigations, those are real reasons for why he was fired and the president"s decision was 100 percent right, which we"ve said multiple times over and over. In fact, I think the more and more we learn, the more and more that"s been vindicated."

Of course, Sanders" response could always be even clearer...we highly encourage the New York Times, CNN and/or Wapo to ask additional clarifying questions on this Comey issue tomorrow.

Trump Press Secretary Says DOJ "Should Look Into" Prosecution Of James Comey

With all the talk of hurricanes now officially behind us (at least for now), the media was once again able to return to its favorite topic at today"s daily press briefing with Sarah Sanders: Russia.  And with Steve Bannon recently referring to it as the biggest mistake "in modern political history," today seemed like the perfect time to once again ask Sanders for her thoughts on the Comey dismissal.

Luckily, for our entertainment purposes at least, Sanders didn"t back down from a question from a New York Times reporter about President Trump"s current thinking on Comey"s firing.

“The president is proud of the decision that he made.  The president was 100 percent right in firing James Comey. He knew it could be bad for him politically and felt he had an obligation to do what was right for the American people and men and women at the FBI.”

“I think there is no secret Comey by his own self-admission leaked privileged government information weeks before president Trump fired him Comey testified that an FBI agent engaged in the same practice would face serious repercussions.  His actions were improper. He leaked memos to "New York Times." He signaled he would exonerate Hillary Clinton before interviewing her. He is very happy with the decision he made.”

Meanwhile, in a followup question on whether Comey should be prosecuted for his potentially illegal actions, Sanders, once again, did not disappoint.

"That"s not the President"s role.  That"s the job of the Department of Justice and something they should certainly look at."

Deep state operative Robert Mueller now using “elite” IRS unit in scheme to take out Trump

(INTELLIHUB) — Another day, another series of revelations relating to deep state operative Robert Mueller’s sham investigation into supposed Russian hacking of the 2016 election, this time with news that he is teaming up with the conservative targeting IRS to further dig for something he can then use to turn a member of Trump’s inner circle.

According to the Daily Beast, the special counsel’s office has “teamed up” with the IRS’s elite Criminal Investigation Unit which will help to ensure that investigators (see deep state operatives specifically looking to take out the elected president) apply the “maximum possible scrutiny” to the finances of Trump associates, despite the fact that Mueller’s entire investigation is supposed to be about Russian election hacking.

As Zerohedge noted, “Of course, the public has long been aware, thanks to Mueller’s collaborators in the media, that his team has no solid evidence to support a charge of election fraud against Trump or members of his circle.”

“And while this latest “partnership” just confirms widely held suspicions that Mueller & Co. are grasping at straws, it could provide Mueller an opening to strike directly at the president, his family and closest advisers – or at least embarass Trump with a fresh batch of leaks.”

The Daily Beast report, which was of course given to the news outlet by people close to Mueller himself, points out that in partnering with the IRS, Mueller’s team will then be able to access Trump’s tax returns.

“This unit—known as CI—is one of the federal government’s most tight-knit, specialized, and secretive investigative entities. Its 2,500 agents focus exclusively on financial crime, including tax evasion and money laundering. A former colleague of Mueller’s said he always liked working with IRS’ special agents, especially when he was a U.S. Attorney.

And it goes without saying that the IRS has access to Trump’s tax returns—documents that the president has long resisted releasing to the public

Potential financial crimes are a central part of Mueller’s probe. One of his top deputies, Andy Weissmann, formerly helmed the Justice Department’s Enron probe and has extensive experience working with investigative agents from the IRS.”

Considering the long history of anti-Trump leaks to establishment media outlets, one can safety assume that the tax returns would then be leaked and plastered across the pages of The New York Times or Washington Post.

“In its report, the Daily Beast shares some fresh insight into the prosecution’s case against Manafort. Naturally, we have a few questions: Can somebody explain what role Paul Manafort’s forgetting to check a box on his tax returned played in the grand conspiracy to rig the 2016 election,” Zerohedge continued.

“It’s been widely reported that the special counsel’s team is trying to “flip” Paul Manafort, the president’s former campaign CEO, in hopes he will provide evidence against his former colleagues. Former federal prosecutors tell The Daily Beast one of Manafort’s biggest legal liabilities could be to what’s called a “check the box” prosecution.

Federal law requires that people who have money in foreign bank accounts check a box on their tax returns disclosing that. And there’s speculation that Manafort may have neglected to check that box, which would be a felony. This is exactly the kind of allegation the IRS would look into.”

As Intellihub News has reported for weeks, Mueller is specifically targeting Manafort for crimes he may or may not have committed literally years before he ever worked with Trump.

In early August I reported that, “FBI agents working for deep state operative Robert Mueller raided the home of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort late last month, seizing materials they claim are related to the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.”

“Despite claims throughout the mainstream media that the raid is connected to the Russian-“Trump investigation, their own reports conclusively show that the targeting of Manafort has absolutely nothing to do with anything Trump may or may not have done wrong but is in reality about fishing through Manafort’s past until they find wrongdoing which would then allow Mueller and his team to flip him and eventually force him to lie about Trump and or his associates.”

All in all this is just more proof that the entire Mueller investigation is a full on sham designed to take out Donald Trump by any means necessary. The idea that this has anything to do with Russia was long ago thrown out the window.

Now, the deep state assets on Mueller’s team (as well as Mueller himself) are teaming up with the IRS, despite their long history of directly targeting conservatives, to magically find a financial crime that a Trump associate committed years ago.

This will then be used to “turn” (see apply pressure until someone lies) someone like Manafort.

One has to wonder how long the American people are going to allow deep state operatives, with the help of the mainstream media, to openly target a president not because of wrongdoing but because they disagree with him politically?

FBI Unexpectedly Releases Confidential Employee Evaluations Of James Comey

In an unexpected, impromptu release, on Tuesday morning the FBI"s "Records Vault" twitter account released a trove of information, divulging "Field Office and Headquarters Climate Survey Results" among which are annual results for the years 2013 through 2017, but more notably, the confidential employee evaluation results for now-former Director James Comey.

It is unclear why the FBI releases this data now, although like on previous occasions, it was likely prompted by an external FOIA request.

In the description of the survey results, the FBI notes the following:

The FBI Annual Employee Survey (AES) provides an opportunity for employees to anonymously share their perspective on the performance of FBI leaders and the organization.

The AES is comprised of two surveys: the Leadership Survey, measuring employees" perceptions of their supervisors" leadership abilities; and the Climate Survey, measuring employees" attitudes about their work, work environment, and the FBI as a whole. The FBI analyzes the data to help improve current leadership, pick new leaders, and encourage employees to express ideas on how management and the FBI can improve.

Each survey item is rated on a five-point scale. Each rating is averaged by the number of respondents. The following scoring breakdown is congruent with the scoring ranges identified by Human Resources senior level executive in the Senior Leader selection process:

• Average scores between 1.0 and 2.99 indicate potential areas of concern which could worsen if not addressed. A focus on development in these areas would be recommended.


• Average scores between 3.0 and 3.80 indicate positive feedback in these areas with potential for improvement.


• Average scores between 3.81 and 5 indicates success in those areas.

Hannity addressed the tidal wave of leaks pouring from the Trump administration, calling for a “purge” of entrenched establishment operatives who are sabotaging implementation of the Trump agenda, as mandated by the American voters.

“We’ve had 125 deep state leaks in 126 days – every one of them, I would say, needs to be investigated for being a felony,” said Hannity. “I think the only way this works is that the deep state gets purged… Obama holdovers get purged – that still has not happened.”

“The laws of the country that apply to every American watching this need to apply to Hillary, need to apply to Comey, need to apply to Attorney General Lynch, and anyone else who leaked information within the deep state.”

“If we don’t hold them accountable, then it never stops,” he concluded.

Comey Broke the Law: FBI Director’s Leaked Trump Memos Contained Classified Information

(ZH) — Amid the constant media outrage over everything Trump, Trump, Trump, some might have forgotten that in the political rollercoaster over the past 12 months, there were numerous other high-profile individuals involved, including not only former DOJ head Loretta Lynch, whose every interaction with the Clinton campaign is about to be probed under a Congressional microscope, but the man who some say started it all: former FBI Director James Comey.

First loved by the Democrats when he personally absolved Hillary Clinton of any sins regarding her (ab)use of her personal email server, then furiously loathed when he reopened the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton one week before the election, then finally getting into a feud with President Trump which cost his him job, Comey ultimately admitted to leaking at least one memo which contained personal recollections of his conversations with the president, in hopes of launching a special probe into the president’s alleged Russian collusion.

There was just one problem: according to a blockbuster report from The Hill, in addition to the leaked memos, Comey also leaked classified information in gross and direct violation of FBI rules and regulations. And just like that Comey finds himself in trouble. Only not just any trouble, but the virtually same trouble that Hillary Clinton was in in the summer of 2016… and which James Comey was tasked to investigate.

We’ll repeat the above because it bears repeating: in the purest definition of irony, James Comey is about to be investigated for the exact same thing which he absolved Hillary Clinton of doing last summer. Almost as if neither Comey nor Clinton were aware of – or willing to abide by – the security protocol of the agency they were in charge of.

Aside from once again confirming that Trump may have been right all along in his accusation of the ex-FBI chief’s motives, this shocking revelation raises the possibility that Comey broke his own agency’s rules – by putting his own interests above those of his country – but far more grotesquely, ignored the same security protocol that he publicly criticized Hillary Clinton for in the waning days of the 2016 presidential election, in order to settle his vendetta with President Trump.

Amusingly, Comey’s alleged flagrant disregard for FBI regulations would explain why he also found Clinton’s email server transgressions to not be a material concern, contrary to what most Republicans claimed at the time. After all, if it was good – or rather not bad enough for Clinton, maybe it was the same with Comey’s own abuse of confidential data? The only problem is that while Comey was generous enough to let Hillary go, now that the ex-FBI chief is facing the president of the US as his adversary, he may not be quite so lucky.

Incidentally, the first to warn of Comey’s imminent headaches, was Breitbart News, which on Friday reported that a new Senate report said recent leaks by former FBI Director James Comey’s leaking of memos could “potentially harm national security.” The report, released by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Thursday, found that there were 125 separate leaks in President Trump’s first 126 days that were potentially damaging to national security. The report said it included Comey’s leaking of his memos after he was fired by Trump in May.

Comey’s troubles started when he testified under oath last month that he considered the memos he prepared to be personal documents and that he shared at least one of them with a Columbia University lawyer friend. As Comey later disclosed, he asked that lawyer to leak information from one memo to the news media in hopes of increasing pressure to get a special prosecutor named in the Russia case after Comey was fired as FBI director.

The Hill recounts that particular exchange with Senator Roy Blunt:

“So you didn’t consider your memo or your sense of that conversation to be a government document?,” Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) asked Comey on June 8.  “You considered it to be, somehow, your own personal document that you could share to the media as you wanted through a friend?”

“Correct,” Comey answered. “I understood this to be my recollection recorded of my conversation with the president. As a private citizen, I thought it important to get it out.”

Comey insisted in his testimony he believed his personal memos were unclassified, though he hinted one or two documents he created might have been contained classified information. “I immediately prepared an unclassified memo of the conversation about Flynn and discussed the matter with FBI senior leadership,” he testified about the one memo he later leaked about former national security adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Additionally, he added, “My view was that the content of those unclassified, memorialization of those conversations was my recollection recorded.”

That’s when the problems escalated, because according to The Hill – which for the first time disclosed that the total number of memos linked to Comey’s nine conversations with Trump – when the seven memos Comey wrote regarding his nine conversations with Trump about Russia earlier this year were shown to Congress in recent days, the FBI claimed all were, in fact, deemed to be government documents.

Oops.  As The Hill reveals, four, or more than half, of the seven memos had markings making clear they contained information classified at the “secret” or “confidential” level, according to officials directly familiar with the matter.

This is a major problem for Comey because FBI policy forbids any agent from releasing classified information or any information from ongoing investigations or sensitive operations without prior written permission, and mandates that all records created during official duties are considered to be government property.

“Unauthorized disclosure, misuse, or negligent handling of information contained in the files, electronic or paper, of the FBI or which I may acquire as an employee of the FBI could impair national security, place human life in jeopardy, result in the denial of due process, prevent the FBI from effectively discharging its responsibilities, or violate federal law,” states the agreement all FBI agents sign.

FBI policy further adds that “all information acquired by me in connection with my official duties with the FBI and all official material to which I have access remain the property of the United States of America” and that an agent “will not reveal, by any means, any information or material from or related to FBI files or any other information acquired by virtue of my official employment to any unauthorized recipient without prior official written authorization by the FBI.”

Comey indicated in his testimony the memos were in his possession when he left the bureau, leaving him in a position to leak one of them through his lawyer friend to the media. But he testified that he has since turned them over to Robert Mueller, a former FBI chief and now spearheading the investigation about possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.  It is not clear whether Comey as director signed the same agreement as his agents, but the contract is considered the official policy of the bureau. It was also unclear when the documents were shown to Congress whether the information deemed “secret” or “confidential” was classified at the time Comey wrote the memos or determined so afterwards, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Congressional investigators have already begun examining whether Comey’s creation, storage and sharing of the memos violated FBI rules, but the revelation that four of the seven memos included some sort of classified information opens a new door of inquiry into whether classified information was mishandled, improperly stored or improperly shared.

Where things get especially ironic, is that this was the same issue the FBI – under Comey – investigated in 2015-16 about Clinton’s private email server, at the time the most sensitive and controversial issue of the Clinton campaign, where as secretary of State she and top aides moved classified information through insecure channels.

Ultimately, Comey concluded in July 2016 that Clinton’s email practices were reckless, but that he could not recommend prosecution because FBI agents had failed to find enough evidence that she intended to violate felony statutes prohibiting the transmission of classified information through insecure practices. While the news initially was loved by Democrats as it let Hillary get off scott-free from any potential criminal probe, Comey’s subsequent decision to restart the FBI probe into Clinton’s email server one week before the election is what eventually prompted both Hillary and John Podesta to claim that James Comey was one of the two factors that cost Clinton the presidency… along with the “Russian hacking” of course.

The only problem is that while there is yet no evidence of Russian hacking, suddenly with the factual emergence of Comey’s transgression, questions may emerge not only into the ex-FBI chief’s actions and motives, but whether the FBI’s clearance of Clinton’s use of an email server under Comey was proper after all…

So what happens next? According to The Hill, congressional investigators are likely to turn their attention to the same issues to determine if Comey mishandled any classified information in his personal memos.

In order to make an assessment, congressional investigators will have to tackle key questions, such as:

• Where and how were the memos were created, such as whether they were written on an insecure computer or notepad.


• Where and how the memos were stored, such as inside his home, his briefcase or an insecure laptop.


• Were any memos shown to private individuals without a security clearance and did those memos contain any classified information


• When was it determined by the government that the memos contained classified information, before Comey took them and shared one or after.

One avenue for answering those questions is for a panel like Senate Intelligence, House Intelligence or Senate Judiciary to refer the matter to the Justice Department’s internal watchdog, the inspector general, or to the Director of National Intelligence and its inspector general. One thing is certain: the near-future will see many more of Comey’s sworn Congressional testimonies, and the vendetta between Trump and Comey is about to not only be rekindled but escalate to previously unseen levels. No Trump-Comey Tapes

Asked if their conversations were taped, he said he’d explain in “a short period of time,” adding “(y)ou’re going to be very disappointed.”

In mid-May, he tweeted “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!”

Days earlier, he tweeted “(w)ith all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea…

…whether there are ‘tapes’ or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings.”

Separately on Thursday, deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump was “very clear” in tweeting he didn’t make and doesn’t have tapes of his conversations with Comey.

So there’s no way to know if his version of what they discussed or Comey’s is correct – unless Trump lied and/or the former FBI director has recordings of their conversations, perhaps by phone, unlikely in their face-to-face meetings unless he wore a wire.

Few if any presidents recorded Oval Office conversations since the Nixon era. We know how that turned out.

In mid-June, Judicial Watch said it wrote acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, informing him of his legal responsibility under the Federal Records Act to recover memos Comey leaked to The NYT, JD president Tom Fitton, saying:

Comey memos as FBI director “were written on his FBI laptop, and concerned official government business. As such, they indisputably are records subject to the Federal Records Act. 44 U.S.C. §§ 2101-18, 2901-09, 3101-07, and 3301-14.”

“The fact that Mr. Comey removed these memoranda from the FBI upon his departure, apparently for the purpose of subsequently leaking them to the press, confirms the FBI’s failure to retain and properly manage its records in accordance with the Federal Records Act.”

“Even if Mr. Comey no longer has possession of these particular memoranda, as he now claims, some or all of these memoranda may still be in possession of a third party, such as Professor Richman, and must be recovered.”

“Mr. Comey’s removal of these memoranda also suggests that other records may have been removed by Mr. Comey and may remain in his possession or in the possession of others. If so, these records must be recovered by the FBI as well.”

The apparent nonexistent Comey tapes are unrelated to congressional and special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of (nonexistent) illegal or improper Trump team dealings with Russia and (nonexistent) Trump obstruction of justice.

His real high crimes are excluded from these investigations because nearly the entire Congress shares guilt, along with earlier presidents – notably the Clintons, Bush/Cheney and Obama.

"Tick, Tick, Tick" Comey Ally Hints That Next NYT Bombshell Is In The Works

It’s been a couple of weeks since the New York Times, Washington Post or CNN have published an anonymously sourced bombshell with more salacious details about the ongoing feud between former FBI Director James Comey and President Donald Trump. But the next salvo could arrive soon – possibly as soon as Monday, if a longtime Comey confidant is to be believed.

Benjamin Wittes, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, posted an ominous message on Twitter on Friday: “TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK.”  Wittes’s tweets may verge on ridiculous, but they should be taken seriously: As the Daily Caller pointed out, his tweets of “tick tick tick” have in the recent past preceded major NYT bombshells, including the May 16 report about the Comey memo and its contents. He tweeted a similar message two days later, before the NYT published a report about Comey wanting to keep his distance from Trump.

Wittes did it again shortly before the Times published a story alleging Comey asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to leave him in the room alone with Trump on June 6. Wittes says he has reviewed Comey-related stories before, and was an on-the-record source for the May 18 piece reported by the NYT’s Michael Schmidt, where he recounted to the NYT reporter that Comey had told him at a lunch meeting that he sought to distance himself from Trump. Comey felt that Trump was attempting to cozy up to Comey in hopes of quashing the ongoing Russia probe.

In his latest tweet, he claimed the “fuse length” on the next story is uncertain, and that it could drop as soon as Monday, or some time after.

While Wittes has said that he and Comey have discussed how the White House handled the Russia investigation, he claims they did not discuss the particulars of the investigation, which is looking into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the election.

Comey began instructing his friends to leak damaging stories about Trump to the Times shortly after he was fired by the president on May 9. During testimony earlier this month, Comey admitted he was angered by Trump’s remarks criticizing his management of the FBI, suggesting that his motives for leaking the stories weren’t exactly altruistic.

Wittes was not the source of the Comey memo, as the Daily Caller recollects. Columbia law school professor Daniel Richman, another friend of Comey’s, shared the document with The Times after being provided a copy by the former FBI chief.

The timing of Wittes message is notable: It follows President Donald Trump’s admission that he was bluffing when he said he might have recorded his conversation with Comey, and Comey"s appearance at The New York Times" offices...

Comey, disguised behind dark sunglasses stared straight ahead as entered the Times Square office building, accompanied by his wife Patrice Failor.

So, what will this next bombshell allege? Has Comey somehow found the smoking gun that will finally prove unequivocally that Trump colluded with the Russians? Maybe he’s been keeping it in his back pocket, refusing to share it with the world because he doesn"t want to unleash another wave of anti-Russia hysteria.
