Raising countless eyebrows, Walmart files patent for autonomous bee drones

With honey bee populations still in peril from one or several of a litany of hotly debated causes — neonicotinoid insecticides, changing climate, and more — Walmart appears to have joined the race for a technological solution to a potential looming disaster, filing a patent for robotic, drone bees earlier this month.

Technically called pollination drones, Business Insider points out, the tiny bee imposters’ capabilities would theoretically include crop pollination — managed remotely through sensors and cameras allowing precision maneuverability between crops and monitor, as well as to monitor that pollination was both sufficient and successful.

CB Insights, credited with first publicizing the patent filed on March 8, surmised Walmart is seeking further control of its supply chain, as the pollinator drones are among six “patents targeting farm automation. The applications propose using drones to identify pests attacking crops, monitor crop damage, spray pesticides, and pollinate crops.”

It continues, “Drones could spray pesticides across a more targeted set of crops, rather than the blanket approach used today. The patent notes that ‘chemical spraying of crops is expensive and may not be looked upon favorably by some consumers.’”

Walmart’s move might thus be considered proactive and positive — although an albeit eerie dystopian commentary on the state of the planet and its ecosystems, or humankind’s unfortunate myopathy — but criticism questions whether funds might be better spent identifying issues facing honey bees and working to conserve and rejuvenate dwindling populations, rather than essentially planning for the worst.

“On top of more practical arguments, such as costs to smaller farms,” Quinn McFrederick, an entomologist at the University of California, Riverside, told NPR, “I would not like to live in a world where bees are replaced by plastic machines. Let’s focus on protecting the biodiversity we still have left.”

McFrederick doesn’t deny the efficacy of drone pollinators, particularly in conjunction with the use of artificial intelligence, but sees the effort heaved at solutions for a problem which has yet to fully develop — without a coincident examination of the root problem — as somewhat misguided.

If bees die out, humans would face a drastically-reduced food landscape — according to Big Think, mirroring similar estimates, around a third of the food humans eat relies on honey bee pollination — and honey bees comprise a paltry 2 percent of all bees.

“Bee deaths have been on the rise, with losses outpacing colonies’ ability to regenerate,” NPR reported last year. “Last year, the U.S. lost 44 percent of all honeybee colonies — a species essential to commercial pollination in this country. Other species of bees have neared mass extinction, including the rusty patch [sic] bumble bee and seven species of Hawaiian yellow-faced bees.”

Even with a slightly lessened decline in recent years, that’s an astoundingly high figure next to the generally-expected 17-percent decline in honey bee populations in a ‘typical’ year, Phys.org noted in 2016, adding that myriad environmental and biological factors likely contribute to colony collapse disorder — even though a solid cause has yet to be fully established.

Robotic bees, pollinator drones, would certainly stave off one of the more pernicious problems facing honey bees in recent years: a mite which acts like a vampire in the tiny insects. Phys.org explains,

“Beekeepers’ biggest challenge today is probably Varroa destructor, an aptly named parasitic mite that we call the vampire of the bee world. Varroa feeds on hemolymph (the insect ‘blood’) of adult and developing honey bees. In the process it transmits pathogens and suppresses bees’ immune response. They are fairly large relative to bees: for perspective, imagine a parasite the size of a dinner plate feeding on you. And individual bees often are hosts to multiple mites.”

Whether single issue as-yet undiscovered or a plethora of damaging factors acting insidiously, the decline of pollinators is a silent if impending doom whose fruition may yet be halted — even if by corporations and private entities like Walmart, whose self-interest in self-preservation in the matter is undeniable.

However, that in itself is a timely caveat for the state of food, wildlife, and the natural order — creating a robotic version of an evolutionary masterpiece bespeaks volumes of humans’ sad penchant for examining problems post mortem — rather than applying forethought.

“Buy American”: Trump to Boost Exports of Lethal US Drones to “Create Jobs”

By Jason Ditz

With drone warfare a hot business in recent years, the US has kept a careful handle on who they allow to buy US-made lethal drones. Reports suggest that’s about to change, with President Trump set to ease the rules substantially, opening up sales to dozens of new customers.

This isn’t just a scramble for growing arms sales abroad, which is a top administration priority. It also reflects manufacturers’ concern about overseas competitors, with fear that if the US makers don’t get the business, someone else will.

China and Israel are major competition for the US in drone sales, and both are often willing to do business with nations that wouldn’t be America’s first choice. The US export market has previously focused primarily on surveillance drones, not armed ones.

But it’s clear there are a lot of customers for these weapons of war, and US officials are worried about getting “outplayed” on the international arms market by competitors. While it’s not clear exactly when the move will be made, it will mean more deadly drones on the market, and ultimately, in the skies.

U.S. Policies Continue to Fail in 2018

russia-america-clash-war

As of this writing, the Russian military has had three of their bases attacked by drones. They destroyed six of them and captured another seven. The significance: the drones are of a quality that could not have been made by the ISIS “rebels,” and had to come from a technologically-advanced nation. The drones were multidirectional and able to be controlled by satellite through GPS coordinates.

[Schwarzenegger, in “Predator”]: “Heat seeker, Dillon. Pretty sophisticated for a bunch of half-assed mountain boys.”

Exactly. The U.S. (via Tillerson) released a statement that the U.S. was not involved in the drone strike and was unaware of who supplied the drones. Not only does that not hold any water, but as it turns out, a U.S. intelligence aircraft was monitored in the theatre while these drone attacks were taking place. Syria is still being hotly contested between Assad and the “rebels” who are none other than Al Qaeda that “morphed” several times to become the ISIS we all know and uphold in the manner of Emmanuel Goldstein, the bogeyman of Orwell’s “1984.”

On the front with Eastern Ukraine, the Russian-backed separatists are about to receive a present…bequeathed by Obama, and allowed to be delivered by President Trump, certified by the Senate and all on the taxpayer’s dime. This being antitank weapons in the form of Javelins and other antitank missiles to the tune of about $47 million. Now the President is thinking of tripling that amount. So much for “détente,” and the reset that was supposed to happen with Russia.

Domestically, as disturbing as our foreign policy (and in some ways more so) is the project to create a domestic “spy” service to complement the alphabet agencies. One of the individuals considered to head it is none other than Eric Prince, the former Navy SEAL and CEO of the same Blackwater that the U.S. government gave “carte blanche” in Iraq with limited ROE (Rules of Engagement) and almost no accountability.

Internally, the same draconian measures that were emplaced by Obama to circumvent the Constitution are still in place. The police forces are growing throughout the U.S., and via the Fusion Centers and CCTV networks steadily germinating across the nation the local, state, and federal police forces are coming beneath one umbrella. The sled is still traveling downhill. A slower rate than before; nevertheless, it’s still moving in the direction it did prior to the election.

The belligerent and imperialistic foreign policy of before is still in place, with relations souring instead of improving. In the meantime, we are watching a form of “creeping Statism” that is domestically moving almost too slowly to be noticed, but making headway. We have an Attorney General who selectively enforces the law, and has a “hands-off” policy for prominents such as Mueller, Comey, and Hillary Clinton.

The North Korean threat has not dissipated: it persists. They will soon launch Kwangmyongsang-5, a satellite that will be able to map positions with advanced technology to be utilized for a nuclear strike. From this and other problems we are constantly distracted by the MSM (Mainstream Media) with Harvey Weinstein’s escapades and the “witch hunt” in progress against every male in the U.S. We are distracted by NFL players taking a knee, by Oprah Winfrey considering being a candidate for president in 2020 (would her campaign be managed by Harpo productions?), and other items that are nonsensical and nonproductive.

Other nations are making their move, such as China with a gold-backed Yuan attempting to supplant the Petrodollar. If our country doesn’t take some drastic steps with foreign policy and domestic agendas, it may realize a few lighter moments, but that is not enough. This period is the calm before the storm. Those midterm elections will be along in no time, and the next presidential election is right around the corner. Hope that we last long enough as a nation to make it that far.

Russian Airbase Bombed By 13 Homemade Drones

homemadedrone

In the early morning hours of January 6, a Russian airbase in Syria was bombed by homemade drones. Russian forces came under attack by a “massive application of unmanned aerial vehicles”, says the Russian Ministry of Defence.

According to reports, 13 small drones descended on Russian forces, but none of them did any significant damage. Seven were destroyed by anti-aircraft defenses and the others were brought down using electronic countermeasures to hijack or jam the drone’s controls and land them intact. The captured aircraft seem “crudely made,” with a wooden undercarriage and plastic sheeting, and powered by a small liquid-fuel engine.  The drones carried several locally made bombs fitted with 3D printed plastic fins under their wings.

The Russian Defense Ministry has reported that the swarm of GPS-guided drones carrying improvised explosives were very high-tech. Ten of the 13 drones aimed themselves at Russia’s Hmeymim air base and three more headed for a logistics and supply base near the Syrian city of Tartus.

According to the Russians, six of the drones were owned by an electronic warfare specialist and diverted from the attack. Of that six, three were successfully collected for examination but the remainder detonated after landing. The Russians report the other seven were blown up midair by a Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile system.

“Currently, the Russian military experts are analyzing the construction, technical filling and improvised explosives of the captured UAVs,” said the statement. “Having decoded the data recorded on the UAVs, the specialists found out the launch site. It was the first time when terrorists applied a massed drone aircraft attack launched at a range of more than 50 km using modern GPS guidance system.”

While the home-made bombs look authentic, the drones themselves look cobbled together and low-tech.

The drones appear to be powered by a single propeller that will be familiar to anyone who has flown a model aircraft. They also contained a control package and presumably, a fuel tank built into the body of the drone. However, they appear to have few metal parts (are composed mostly of wood and plastic) and lack even landing wheels. Russia has not shown details of the GPS control system, but insist they were highly advanced machines.

“Attacks on the Russian objects in Syria could be received from one of [the] countries with high-technological capabilities of satellite navigation and remote dropping control of professionally assembled improvised explosive devices in assigned coordinates,” Russia’s military said.

CNN Awarded First FAA Waiver Allowing Drone Flights Over Crowds

CNN Awarded First FAA Waiver Allowing Drone Flights Over Crowds | drone | Drones Special Interests US News

By Alan Levin, Bloomberg |

CNN received a waiver allowing routine drone flights above crowds, a milestone for the industry seeking greater use of the remote-controlled devices for everything from insurance inspections to covering news.

The approval is the first time the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has granted a waiver for unlimited flights over people, the news network said in an emailed statement. The standards used in the application can be applied to other applicants, potentially opening vast new uses by the media and other industries for so-called unmanned aerial systems, or UAS.

“This waiver signifies a critical step forward not only for CNN’s UAS operations, but also the commercial UAS industry at large,” said David Vigilante, senior vice president of legal for CNN.

Robocop Reality: Massive Military Drones Could Start Replacing Police Helicopters

Robocop Reality: Massive Military Drones Could Start Replacing Police Helicopters | reaper-drone | Drones Military Military Weapons Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Special Interests Tyranny & Police State US News

By: The Anti-Media |

According to the defense contractor that developed the Predator and Reaper drones for the United States military’s operations in the Middle East, drones will have begun to replace piloted law enforcement helicopters by the year 2025.

On Monday, it was reported that the contractor, General Atomics (GA), is pressing hard for the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to change its regulations on unmanned flight over American soil.

“The federal rules that govern aircraft in U.S. airspace are much stricter than those that cover U.S. military drones overseas,” Defense One wrote. “Many of the Federal Aviation Authority’s regulations were drafted for manned aircraft, long before unmanned flight across the United States was even a possibility.”

As such, defense contractors have a vested interest in seeing the FAA adopt regulations that, as Defense One reports, would “open the floodgates” on a brand new aviation market. But GA, which has developed a cousin of its Reaper drone for domestic surveillance use, is ahead of the pack in terms of FAA certification.

In August, after receiving a special waiver from the FAA, GA put on a demonstration of its new MQ-9B drone, flying it 275 miles from Yuma, Arizona, to GA’s private airfield in Grey Butte, California. During the demo, members of the media, including Defense One’s Patrick Tucker, got to see what the machine is capable of:

“During the MQ-9B test in Grey Butte, journalists peeked out the door of the ground-control trailer to the tiny, barely visible plane overhead. Back inside, the monitors showed that we could easily distinguish each another, pick out clothing patterns, discern other markings, etc. It looked like a view from 30 feet up, not 2,000.”

GA is aiming for FAA certification of its MQ-9B by 2025. If the contractor has its way, the door will officially be open for military-style unmanned craft to be used by police departments across the country.

Naturally, the possibility has privacy advocates greatly concerned, as it has since its injection into the public conversation. This concern was voiced once more by Jeramie D. Scott, director of the Domestic Surveillance Center Project at the Electronic Privacy Information Center, to Defense One when speaking of the MQ-9B:

“Drones make indiscriminate and persistent aerial surveillance feasible and can easily be equipped with technologies like facial recognition. Without proper restrictions, drone surveillance will become the norm of public space, undermine our constitutional rights and chill First Amendment activities.”

Death from Above — Bill to Give Police Deadly Weapons on Drones

drones

Connecticut may be the first state in the country to allow police officers to put deadly weapons on drones. Some states have discussed equipping drones with tasers but this is the first proposal to arm them with deadly weapons. Lawmakers in the state are proposing a law that would actually ban the use of weaponized drones for the average citizen while opening the door for police officers to do so.

Sen. John Kissel, a supporter of the measure told FOX 5 that, “Obviously this is for very limited circumstances. We can certainly envision some incident on some campus or someplace where someone is a rogue shooter or someone was kidnapped and you try to blow out a tire.”

However, as expected, activist and human rights groups have spoken out against the new proposal.

“We have huge concerns that they would use this new technology to abuse our communities,“ Scot X. Esdaile, president of the Connecticut NAACP said.

Esdaile is right. While it hasn’t taken place inside the borders of the United States, for more than a decade, the US has been terrorizing and abusing communities across the Middle East — raining down hell from above — with the use of drone technology. The war was bound to come home soon.

David McGuire, executive director of the state ACLU echoed these concerns, suggesting that, “We would be setting a dangerous precedent. It is really concerning and outrageous that that’s being considered in our state legislature. Lethal force raises this to a level of real heightened concern.”

There are some small concessions that are made in the proposal, including a requirement for officers to get a warrant before using weaponized drones. However, police often get warrants very easy in situations where they really aren’t justified. In many cases, it takes a simple five-minute phone call to a judge in orde to get a warrant.

READ MORE:  Photography Event Raided By Police After Being Mistaken For Rave

Also, as FOX 5 points out, police could forgo the warrant if there are emergency circumstances or the person who is the subject of the drone use gives permission.

Police claim that they would also be required to file a yearly report on how often and why they used the drones. However, if this reporting is anything like police reporting on the use of deadly force, it will be sparse at best and entirely false or non-existent at worst.

Democratic Bridgeport Sen. Edwin Gomes is one of the politicians who had reservations about the new law.

“I think that police are taught one thing. You put a weapon in their hand, they shoot center mass, they shoot to kill. If it’s going to be used, you’re going to use it to kill somebody,” Gomes said.

A spokesperson with the FAA said in a statement that they have no plans on preventing police departments from having weaponized drones. In fact, some states have already begun to pass legislation that would explicitly approve weaponized drones with tasers. In August 2015, North Dakota became the first state to pass legislation approving of such weapons, and now with large protests in the state surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline, it is entirely possible that they will be in use soon.

To be clear, this new legislation takes this issue a step further and proposes the use of deadly weapons instead of non-lethal force. What could possibly go wrong?

They Can See a ‘Stick of Butter from Space’ — The Billion Dollar Spy Agency You’ve Never Heard Of

While most Americans would consider the CIA, and perhaps the NSA, household names, one U.S. spy agency — whose headquarters surpasses the U.S. Capitol in size — has managed to keep to the shadows while possessing cutting edge tools of the surveillance trade.

Called the  National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), even former President Barack Obama didn’t know of its existence when he first took office — despite that the agency employs some 15,400 people.

“So, what do you [do]?” Obama asked a customer at a Washington, D.C., Five Guys hamburgers in May 2009.

“I work at NGA, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency,” he answered.

“Outstanding,” then-president Obama asserted. “How long have you been doing that?”

“Six years.”

“So, explain to me exactly what this National Geospatial …” Obama asked, unable to recall the agency’s full name.

Timidly, the man replied, “Uh, we work with, uh, satellite imagery.”

“Obama appeared dumbfounded,” Foreign Policy’s James Bamford reports. “Eight years after that videotape aired, the NGA remains by far the most shadowy member of the Big Five spy agencies, which include the CIA and the National Security Agency.”

The NGA’s secretive identity belies the agency’s massive physical size and the scope of its surveillance activities, as Bamford continues,

“Completed in 2011 at a cost of $1.4 billion, the main building measures four football fields long and covers as much ground as two aircraft carriers. In 2016, the agency purchased 99 acres in St. Louis to construct additional buildings at a cost of $1.75 billion to accommodate the growing workforce, with 3,000 employees already in the city.

“The NGA is to pictures what the NSA is to voices. Its principal function is to analyze the billions of images and miles of video captured by drones in the Middle East and spy satellites circling the globe. But because it has largely kept its ultra-high-resolution cameras pointed away from the United States, according to a variety of studies, the agency has never been involved in domestic spy scandals like its two far more famous siblings, the CIA and the NSA. However, there’s reason to believe that this will change under President Donald Trump.”

Originally tasked primarily with cartography — before a mammoth expansion, the spy arm had been called the National Imagery and Mapping Agency — until a name and mission switch in 2003 gave the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency its name, with the hyphen allowing a three-letter acronym so enamored by the government.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose fondness for imagery intelligence became known when he served as a general during World War II, created the National Photographic Interpretation Center shortly before leaving office — an agency also later absorbed by the NGA.

Now, the NGA works in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force to analyze the staggering amount of data collected through aerial surveillance abroad — mostly by unmanned aerial systems, such as drones with high-powered cameras.

According to at least one source, as of 2013, the NGA was integral in the analysis of surveillance data pertaining to Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Revelations on the depth and breadth of the Central Intelligence Agency’s domestic capabilities, long believed out of its territory, was exposed by Wikileaks Vault 7 recently to be on par with National Security Agency programs — so much so, analysts say it constitutes a duplicate Big Brother.

Data provided to the NGA by military officials has assisted in various U.S. operations in the Middle East by tracking vehicles believed responsible for planting improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, and for monitoring hot spots for insurgent breakouts.

But the NGA hardly only keeps to support operations, as David Brown — author of the book, “Deep State: Inside the Government Secrecy Industry” — explained,

“Before the trigger was pulled on NEPTUNE’S SPEAR, the mission to kill Osama Bin Laden, SEAL Team Six had access to a perfect replica of the Abbottabad compound where the terrorist mastermind was hiding. The details for the replica were gathered by the NGA, which used laser radar and imagery to construct a 3D rendering of the compound. How precise were its measurements and analysis? The NGA figured out how many people lived at the compound, their gender, and even their heights. But the NGA didn’t stop there: Its calculations also helped the pilots of the stealth Black Hawks know precisely where to land.”

With a combined budget request for 2017 of $70.3 billion, the National and Military Intelligence Programs — NGA falls under the latter — have seen a quickening of support from the authoritarian-leaning, pro-military Trump administration. This and additional factors — such as the astonishingly sophisticated equipment at the agency’s disposal — have ignited fears the NGA could be granted authority to bring its expert microscope into focus against the American people.

“While most of the technological capacities are classified, an anonymous NGA analyst told media the agency can determine the structure of buildings and objects from a distance, has some of the most sophisticated facial recognition software on the planet and uses sensors on satellites and drones that can see through thick clouds for ‘all-weather’ imagery analysis,” reports news.com.au.

Efforts to bolster NGA’s innovate staff pool ratcheted up on Thursday, as Business Wire reported,

“From navigating a U.S. aircraft to making national policy decisions, to responding to natural disasters: today’s U.S. armed forces rely on Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) to meet mission requirements. As the nation’s primary source of GEOINT for the Department of Defense and the U.S. Intelligence Community, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) depends on the National Geospatial-Intelligence College (NGC) to produce top-tier talent to deliver intelligence with a decisive advantage. Today, Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) announced that it has been awarded a five-year, $86 million contract by NGA-NGC to lead the Learning Management and Advancement Program (LMAP) that will provide high-quality learning solutions to equip a diverse workforce with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet current and future GEOINT mission requirements.”

READ MORE:  Facebook Will Now Warn You if Your Account is Targeted by Government

Bamford points out for Foreign Policy the Trump administration intimated a significant expansion of spying on mosques and Islamic centers, while others admonish said surveillance could put Black Lives Matter and other protest groups in the NGA’s silent crosshairs.

Of distinct concern for privacy advocates are drones with uncanny zooming capabilities — features used against U.S. citizens before. Bamford continues,

“In 2016, unbeknownst to many city officials, police in Baltimore began conducting persistent aerial surveillance using a system developed for military use in Iraq. Few civilians have any idea how advanced these military eye-in-the-sky drones have become. Among them is ARGUS-IS, the world’s highest-resolution camera with 1.8 billion pixels. Invisible from the ground at nearly four miles in the air, it uses a technology known as ‘persistent stare’ — the equivalent of 100 Predator drones peering down at a medium-size city at once — to track everything that moves.

“With the capability to watch an area of 10 or even 15 square miles at a time, it would take just two drones hovering over Manhattan to continuously observe and follow all outdoor human activity, night and day. It can zoom in on an object as small as a stick of butter on a plate and store up to 1 million terabytes of data a day. That capacity would allow analysts to look back in time over days, weeks, or months. Technology is in the works to enable drones to remain aloft for years at a time.”

With cutting edge technology, a rapid enlargement underway, and billions in budgetary funds at the ready, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is the cloaked, mute sibling of the nefarious Intelligence Community — but it’s time to pull the protective shell off this potential ticking time bomb before reining it in becomes an impossibility.

7 Stories Far More Important than Trump’s Tax Returns

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow detonated an explosive social media backlash upon the release of two of President Trump’s sought-after IRS documents from 2005 on Tuesday evening had been predicted by many to evince fraud or corruption — but, instead, proved the billionaire business mogul paid a higher percentage in taxes than Mitt Romney or even socialist-leaning, Bernie Sanders.

With the American corporate press now fixated on Trump and his taxes — and whether or not the president personally mailed the fraught papers to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, David Cay Johnston — it would appear the only issue of import concerns an analysis of personal finance.

And while tax records can indeed expose unethical behavior and questionable dealings, the publicity surrounding Maddow’s ostensively damaging report belied the mundanity printed in black and white for all to see — Trump’s tax returns truly aren’t that interesting, much less damning.

In fact, the imperious witch hunt to condemn the new president over taxes — an almost expected vein of contention for U.S. leaders in the 21st Century — recklessly forgets the number of explosive actions and revelations of the past several days.

This isn’t to say Trump’s tax history should not be fastidiously inspected, but with the following seven items abruptly dismissed by mainstream presstitutes — whose corporate sponsors would prefer the spotlight shift away from their wrongdoing — upon the airing of Maddow’s paper tiger, a refresher on what else happened this week is imperative.

7. Cannabis Proves Yet Again It Could Solve the Opioid Epidemic

A recent study in a rapidly amassing body of evidence found states where medical cannabis has been made legal experience drastic reductions in the number of people hospitalized for opioid-related issues.

“Medical marijuana legalization was associated with 23% and 13% reductions in hospitalizations related to opioid dependence or abuse and [opioid pain reliever] OPR overdose, respectively; lagged effects were observed after policy implementation,” wrote the researchers from the University of California, whose study was published in the journal, Drug and Alcohol Dependency.

“This study demonstrated significant reductions on OPR- (opioid pain reliever) related hospitalizations associated with the implementation of medical marijuana policies. … We found reductions in OPR-related hospitalizations immediately after the year of policy implementation as well as delayed reductions in the third post-policy year.”

Additionally, researchers learned upon studying data in hospital administrative records from 1997 through 2014, hospitalizations from cannabis-related maladies did not increase when weed became legal in those areas — contrary to what anti-marijuana, drug warrior officials want you to believe.

6. Yes, Fracking Can Contaminate Drinking Water

A former oil field worker, his father, wife, and daughter suffered serious injuries when a buildup of methane caused their pump house to explode in a fireball in 2014 — so the traumatized Texas family filed a lawsuit and set out to determine the precise cause of the blast.

Researchers commissioned by attorneys for Cody Murray and his family performed several studies of the incident, with an eye to the fracking industry and a nearby well — and discovered chemicals and gases from hydraulic fracturing can, indeed, travel through subterranean fissures and taint clean water.

“It’s really incontrovertible,” asserted Murray family attorney Christopher Hamilton of the results of the studies. “Sometimes the science just overwhelms.”

“The timing is undeniable, the location is undeniable, the chemistry of the gas is undeniable,” Hamilton told local station WFAA. “This is not naturally occurring gas. This is gas that came from 4- to 6-thousand feet below the ground.”

Although the controversial practice of fracking has been directly linked to relatively local increases in seismic activity — but the connection between drilling and contamination with gases, particulates, and chemicals had not been substantiated until these privately-funded analyses.

5. Trump Gave the CIA Permission to Use Drone Strikes

READ MORE:  Coroner Report Contradicts Claims of Heart Attack -- RT Founder Beaten to Death in D.C. Hotel

After the previous administration stifled the militaristic powers of the CIA — recently exposed by Wikileaks to be up to much more than simply spying on foreign agents — Trump reversed course and put the remote-controlled trigger back in the clandestine agency’s eager hands.

On Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported the president gave the CIA “secret new authority to conduct drone strikes against suspected terrorists, U.S. officials said, changing the Obama administration’s policy of limiting the spy agency’s paramilitary role and reopening a turf war between the agency and the Pentagon.”

Terming the new powers a “significant departure” from prior policy, the WSJ reported the move pertained primarily to military operations in Syria — but could expand to include other theaters.

Beyond proffering broad permissions for drone usage to the CIA, the “Trump administration is also giving the military more authority to conduct operations on its own without first getting a signoff from the Pentagon or the White House,” the WSJ noted.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange weighed in on the startling changes, tweeting,

“By handing unilateral power to the CIA over its drone strikes at this time White House signals that bullying, disloyalty & incompetence pays.”

Considering massive expansions to the executive branch under Obama — specifically, the ability granted to U.S. presidents to order drone strikes against American citizens anywhere on the planet — a parallel increase in powers given to agencies as secretive as the CIA are anything but welcome.

4. Child Trafficking Rings Involving Government Officials Go Ignored

“It is a huge network of NGOs, nursing homes, doctors and middlemen dealing in illegal adoption and baby trafficking that the police have busted,” explained Rajesh Kumar, Additional Director General for India’s State’s Criminal Investigative Department (CID).

An intricate networks of officials and others dealing in tragic commodity of children was exposed by authorities recently in India — but for as sickening as details of the case have been, American corporate media largely declined to cover the story.

As The Free Thought Project reports, “Abortion clinics in the area were convincing mothers to give birth to their children in exchange for money ranging between $1,400 and $4,500 USD. Other birthing centers told mothers their children were stillborn, when they weren’t, allowing the clinic to steal the babies for sale on the black market. The children were transported in bread baskets to nursing homes in the area where they would remain until they were sold into servitude, as sex slaves, or brothels […]

“Additionally, investigators believe foreigners were buying the children. Currency from other countries was found at the same time the children were discovered. Several corpses and skeletons of infants were also unearthed in the raided businesses.”

In Niger, a second trafficking operation was found to be supplying the nation’s barren and impotent elite with children stolen from others to falsely claim as their own — being childless in Niger isn’t culturally desirable.

From theories about “Pizzagate” to the fraught parental anecdotes of kidnapping by U.S. Child Protective Services, child trafficking, sexual exploitation, and pedophilia continue evidencing the ribald underbelly of the world’s elite — but no matter how grievous the facts, you won’t hear them from corporate media.

3. The Deep State Coup to Supplant Trump with Pence

READ MORE:  Awesome: Oregon aims to be first state to map GMO fields

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange suggested on Twitter Tuesday unspecified players have unhatched a plot to oust the new president in order to install Vice President Mike Pence in the Oval Office.

“Clinton stated privately this month that she is quietly pushing for a Pence takeover. She stated that Pence is predictable hence defeatable,” Assange tweeted, adding,

“Two IC officials close to Pence stated privately this month that they are planning on a Pence takeover. Did not state if Pence agrees.”

Some critics write off the idea of a Deep State as the stuff of tinfoil, basement theory — but Assange joins a number of former U.S. officials and government whistleblowers calling attention to the slow-paced but decisive coup fomenting just outside public purview

Zero Hedge aptly summarized of the rumored takeover by Pence that the American people now stand at a fork in the road:

“The first path involves Trump giving in and adopting an anti-Russian agenda, as is already apparent in his decision to send more ground troops to Syria alongside Saudi troops, who will intentionally oppose the Syrian regime (a close ally of Russia). The second involves the possibility of another direct coup within the Trump administration, this time one that may ultimately force Trump out of the White House so he can be replaced by Mike Pence, a war hawk who will be more than happy to do the job Hillary Clinton wanted to do.”

Pence denied the allegation as ‘absurd.’

2. Monsanto Secretly Authored Studies Giving RoundUp Safe Reviews

Agrichemical behemoth Monsanto’s flagship weedkiller, RoundUp — whose primary ingredient, glyphosate, is deemed a probable human carcinogen — remains the most pervasive agrichemical on the planet, and is the subject of a class-action lawsuit by several people who say they developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma from its use.

While the mega-corporation insists its star product presents no threat to humans, animals, or the environment, newly revealed internal documents show Monsanto ghost wrote critical studies — erasing any neutrality in analyses of RoundUp.

“The court documents included Monsanto’s internal emails and email traffic between the company and federal regulators,” the New York Times reported. “The records suggested that Monsanto had ghostwritten research that was later attributed to academics and indicated that a senior official at the Environmental Protection Agency had worked to quash a review of Roundup’s main ingredient, glyphosate, that was to have been conducted by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.”

Court documents also revealed bitter infighting at the EPA over glyphosate and the credibility of certain studies.

Although the World Health Organization and many others have warned against RoundUp’s active ingredient for years — especially concerning its probable cancer link — debate rages on, driven largely by Monsanto’s deep pockets and interest in keeping the herbicide on the shelves.

Recently, the U.S. military began bombing Yemen again for the first time since the death of Navy SEAL William ‘Ryan’ Owens — and the aggressive campaign shows heightened use of military powers by the new president.

Syria, where the U.S. has been bogged down for months on end in proxy wars fighting to depose the administration of President Bashar al-Assad, will now see at least 1,000 additional American boots on the ground.

Russian and American troops now occupy the streets of the same Syrian city, as intense anti-Russian hysteria continues spewing from the mouths of politicians in Washington, who seem eager to spark World War III — no matter the deadly consequences.

In fact, the morass in the Middle East is perhaps only paralleled in complexity and the need for caution as the steely face-off among several nations over the disputatious waters of the South and East China Seas.

U.S. defense systems have now been deployed to South Korea, as that nation fears encroachment from North Korea — but ballistic missile tests by Pyongyang have also sounded alarm bells for nearby China, whom Taiwan now views as a growing threat.

So fraught are both regions of conflict, a sufficient explanation for either could not possibly be provided in one article — but it would be wise to note the U.S. often achieves large scale troop deployments by sending smaller numbers to their destination at a time.

Conspiracy Theorists Vindicated: CIA Uses “Hacking, Trojans, Viruses, And Weaponized Malware”

watching1

This article was written by Michael Snyder and originally published at TheMostImportantNews.com.

Editor’s Comment: Most researchers and “conspiracy theorists” have known for decades; some just know instinctively. This is an information-based society. Like it or not, surveillance is built into that, because the control of information is, well, how control is established. That means recognizance, spying, data collection, infiltration of the local culture, ear to the ground, influence and dirt on useful dupes, lowlifes and mortal adversaries. But that’s all old hat, hard work, hardcore spy teams…

Today, this is all done digitally, and the dragnet is bigger than ever before. Smart phones, televisions, laptops and other devices are all feeding constant data to eager harvesters, analyzers and trackers. The back doors were built in by design; the tech companies have been working the NSA and CIA since the beginning. This entire new world is based around surveillance, tracking, and anything but the 4th amendment… and this is how they let us know.

Every ‘Conspiracy Theorist’ In America Has Just Been Vindicated…

by Michael Snyder

Yes, the government can use your phone, your computer and even potentially your television to spy on what you are doing inside your own home.  On Tuesday, Wikileaks released thousands of documents that prove what virtually every “conspiracy theorist” in America has been saying for years about government spying.  And I don’t even like to use the term “conspiracy theorist” much, because the truth is that most “conspiracy theorists” are simply citizen journalists that are attempting to expose things that the mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about.  And one of the things that the mainstream media has always been hesitant to address is the unconstitutional surveillance that U.S. intelligence agencies systematically conduct on their own citizens.

But now the mainstream media is being forced to talk about government surveillance because Wikileaks has just exposed it for all the world to see.  According to Wikileaks, the CIA has been secretly running “its ‘own NSA’ with even less accountability and without publicly answering the question as to whether such a massive budgetary spend on duplicating the capacities of a rival agency could be justified”.  It is known as the Central Intelligence Agency’s Center for Cyber Intelligence, and it has produced “more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other ‘weaponized’ malware”.  In fact, the computer or phone that you are reading this article on may be infected with one of their programs right now.

The documents that were released by Wikileaks show that government spooks can remotely take control of Apple iPhones, Google Android phones, Microsoft Windows operating systems and Samsung smart televisions, and once in control of those devices they can use them to spy on their owners.

The ironic thing is that while Barack Obama and members of Congress have been accusing Russia of conducting cyberattacks, the truth is that U.S. intelligence agencies have been perhaps the biggest offenders of all.

This is an absolutely massive scandal, and I truly hope that it gets the attention that it deserves in the days ahead.  The following is a portion of the press release that Wikileaks issued on Tuesday…

Recently, the CIA lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized “zero day” exploits, malware remote control systems and associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to more than several hundred million lines of code, gives its possessor the entire hacking capacity of the CIA. The archive appears to have been circulated among former U.S. government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.

“Year Zero” introduces the scope and direction of the CIA’s global covert hacking program, its malware arsenal and dozens of “zero day” weaponized exploits against a wide range of U.S. and European company products, include Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows and even Samsung TVs, which are turned into covert microphones.

Since 2001 the CIA has gained political and budgetary preeminence over the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). The CIA found itself building not just its now infamous drone fleet, but a very different type of covert, globe-spanning force — its own substantial fleet of hackers. The agency’s hacking division freed it from having to disclose its often controversial operations to the NSA (its primary bureaucratic rival) in order to draw on the NSA’s hacking capacities.

By the end of 2016, the CIA’s hacking division, which formally falls under the agency’s Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), had over 5000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other “weaponized” malware. Such is the scale of the CIA’s undertaking that by 2016, its hackers had utilized more code than that used to run Facebook.

After learning about this, you may never look at your smart TV the same way again.

In fact, according to the documents that Wikileaks has given us the CIA can even use your smart TV to spy on you when it appears to be turned off…

A program dubbed “Weeping Angel” after an episode of the popular British TV science fiction series “Dr. Who,” can set a Samsung smart TV into a fake “off” mode to fool the consumer into thinking the TV isn’t recording room sounds when it still is. The conversations are then sent out via the user’s server. The program was developed in conjunction with MI5, the British FBI equivalent of a domestic counterintelligence and security agency, according to the WikiLeaks documents.

And if your phone has been infected by the CIA, they can remotely turn on the camera and microphone whenever they want and use the phone as a GPS locator to track you wherever you go.  The following comes from USA Today…

CIA-created malware can penetrate and then control the operating systems for both Android and iPhone phones, allege the documents. This software would allow the agency to see the user’s location, copy and transmit audio and text from the phone and covertly turn on the phone’s camera and microphone and then send the resulting images or sound files to the agency.

Just two days ago I wrote a major article warning that the government has the capability to do these sorts of things.

This stuff is really going on, and it needs to stop now.  I warned about some of this advanced “Big Brother technology” in my apocalyptic novel “The Beginning Of The End“, and many of us have been screaming about what U.S. intelligence agencies have been doing for years and years.  Now that President Trump is extremely upset that the government was spying on him, let us hope that he steps up to the plate and puts an end to this unconstitutional surveillance for good.

In the documents that Wikileaks has just released there is even discussion about the CIA potentially being able to infect a vehicle control system.  Presumably the goal would be to remotely take control of a vehicle and either spy on the occupants or kill them by driving into an obstacle at very high speed.

And if you can believe it, the CIA has also been developing ways to make it look like a cyberattack that they conducted actually came from the Russians.  The following comes from an article by Jerome Corsi…

The Wikileaks “Vault 7” drop of CIA cyber-warfare documents contains the startling revelation that the CIA, under a project identified as “Umbrage,” maintained a substantial library of Russian cyber-attack techniques “stolen” from malware produced in other states including the Russian Federation.

Of course when it comes to violations of privacy, the NSA is even worse than the CIA.

The NSA systematically collects all forms of digital communication and stores them in a giant data center out in Utah.  So nothing that you do on a digital device is ever truly private.  If you don’t believe the article that I posted the other day, perhaps you will believe a 36 year veteran of the NSA named William Binney…

President Donald Trump is “absolutely right” to claim he was wiretapped and monitored, a former NSA official claimed Monday, adding that the administration risks falling victim to further leaks if it continues to run afoul of the intelligence community.

“I think the president is absolutely right. His phone calls, everything he did electronically, was being monitored,” Bill Binney, a 36-year veteran of the National Security Agency who resigned in protest from the organization in 2001, told Fox Business on Monday. Everyone’s conversations are being monitored and stored, Binney said.

Did you catch that last sentence?

Binney knows very well that all of our conversations are systematically being monitored and stored because he helped build the systems that do it.

Now that all of this is out in the open, America has two choices.

We can end this unconstitutional surveillance and go back to being a nation that respects privacy, or we can allow it to continue and keep heading down the road toward becoming a “Big Brother” surveillance society far worse than anything that George Orwell ever warned about.

Caught on Video: Tigers Hunt Down Quadcopter Drone “Releasing Plumes of Smoke”

screen-shot-2017-02-24-at-4-59-25-am

Ever wonder what nature thinks of all the strange creations of man?

As technologies take on a life of their own, animal life finds its own balance.

These Siberian tigers, held in captive in China zoo got pretty pissed off a surveillance drone that was capturing amazing footage of them running in an ambush formation.

After stalking the flying contraption, a lead tiger batted it down, and it was subsequently destroyed, until the tigers cause the device to go up in smoke, literally!

via RT:

Incredible footage from a Siberian tiger enclosure in China’s Heilongjiang Province has captured the moment a drone was taken down and torn apart by a group of the wild cats.

The drone belonging to reporters from China Central Television (CCTV) fell victim to the animals as it was being used to film aerial footage of the tigers playing in the snow.

The curious big cats then gather around and inspect the gadget. They gnaw on it’s frame, perhaps annoyed it wasn’t edible, before chewing through the motor and releasing plumes of smoke. The bemused beasts then wisely back away, drone destruction complete.

Strange and fascinating. Pretty unprecedented footage, as new clashes appear in our world.

Similarly, an eagle was caught on camera recently taking down a drone, with strategic use of its talons, just as it would any bird of prey.

The bird was not wild either, however, but being trained by a Dutch police unit to hunt and take down drones – as authorities take to atypical ways of controlling the use of this popular aircraft.

Meanwhile, here is one way that man is dealing with the unwanted invasion of drones, as SHTF previously reported:

Mankind thinks it will replace nature and improve upon it, but in the long run, nature remains a formidable foe, as every prepper, survivalist, and realist knows.

Secret Letter from 9/11 Mastermind to Obama Confirms CIA Blowback ‘Conspiracy Theory’

Washington, D.C. — A letter written by the man accused of being the mastermind behind the attacks on 9/11 has just been released. Within the 18 pages of this letter are accusations of tyranny, empire, and murder, who the mastermind, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, says are the reasons for the tragic attacks a decade and a half ago.

The letter was drafted in 2014, from the confines of Guantánamo prison and dated January 2015. It was to be delivered to Obama two years ago, however, it did not reach him until last month — on his way out of the White House. The Miami Herald sought to obtain a copy of this letter and it was published this week.

The letter, in which Mohammed address Obama as “the head of the snake” and president of “the country of oppression and tyranny,” was kept secret by prison officials who said it should be suppressed as propaganda.

When reading the letter, it becomes perfectly clear as to why they wanted it suppressed — it provides a motive for the murderous attacks on 9/11, other than ‘the terrorists hate our freedom.’

“Your hands are still wet with the blood of our brothers and sisters and children who were killed in Gaza,” writes Mohammed as he starts the letter accusing the US of facilitating Israeli aggression against the Palestinian state. In fact, Israel is mentioned 38 times within the 18 pages.

Mohammed was captured in 2003 and didn’t confess to FBI and CIA agents that he was a member of al-Qaeda and responsible for the 9/11 attacks — until 3 1/2 years later — after being in the CIA’s secret prison network, where he was waterboarded nearly 200 times.

While there is certainly no reason to take an accused terrorist’s word, former Congressman Ron Paul has been saying this for decades. And, as the Free Thought Project has reported on multiple occasions, US foreign policy creates terrorism. As Paul said after the terror attacks in Paris in 2015:

The interventionists will do anything to prevent Americans from seeing that their foreign policies are perpetuating terrorism and inspiring others to seek to harm us. The neocons know that when it is understood that blowback is real – that people seek to attack us not because we are good and free but because we bomb and occupy their countries – their stranglehold over foreign policy will begin to slip.

That is why each time there is an event like the killings in Paris earlier this month, they rush to the television stations to terrify Americans into agreeing to even more bombing, more occupation, more surveillance at home, and more curtailment of our civil liberties. They tell us we have to do it in order to fight terrorism, but their policies actually increase terrorism.

If that sounds harsh, consider the recently-released 2015 Global Terrorism Index report. The report shows that deaths from terrorism have increased dramatically over the last 15 years – a period coinciding with the “war on terrorism” that was supposed to end terrorism.

The report Paul mentioned above noted a sharp increase in terror:

Terrorist activity increased by 80 per cent in 2014 to its highest recorded level. …The number of people who have died from terrorist activity has increased nine-fold since the year 2000.

For decades, the US and its Western allies have been violently and frequently meddling in the Middle East. Beginning with the clandestine overthrow of democratically elected leaders, moving on to financing violent extremist groups, and morphing into full blown invasions of entire countries, the Middle East has been the target of destruction since at least 1953.

Ignoring all of the treachery, corruption, and death exported from the US in the last 70 years, the troglodytes in D.C. continue to assert that ‘the terrorists hate our freedom.’ Sadly, the propaganda being shoved down the throats of Americans by these ill-informed political puppets, preserves this idiotic assertion.

Millions have died in the West’s relentless pursuit of nation building and controlling oil, all of it is written off as “collateral damage,” and the clueless politicians march on.

In the accused terrorist’s letter, Mohammed mentions “the blood of the innocents your drone attacks killed in Waziristan, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Somalia, and elsewhere around the globe.” Killing innocent people fosters resentment and ultimately terrorism.

No one is siding with Mohammed here, but when trying to find solutions to terrorism, these words should not be ignored.

Do you think that the children of those slain by a decade bombing and constant threats of drone strikes will simply forget about the atrocities inflicted upon them? Do you think that the parents who watched their babies blown apart by predator drones, or the hospital workers who watched as US bombs rained down from the sky — will just turn the other cheek?

Ignoring the nation building conducted by the United States over the last seven decades is as ignorant as it is dangerous. Continuing an interventionist foreign policy does nothing to keep America safe — in fact, it has the exact opposite effect and the CIA even has a word for it.

It is called BLOWBACK.

However, anyone who talks about Blowback, including Ron Paul, is written off as a conspiracy theorist or a kook.

READ MORE:  Ron Paul: U.S. Wouldn"t Allow Saudi Threats Over 9/11 "Unless D.C. Was Hiding What They"ve Done"

However, consider this simple math — every time a bomb drops in the Middle East by the West, in their relentless and murderous pursuit to dominate the region for special interests, a dozen ‘terrorists’ are born.

The reality is that since 9-11, the US and their NATO allies have made the situation even worse as they fostered a breeding ground for extremist and fundamentalist groups. As Americans sat back on their couches and watched the “Shock and Awe” on CNN, the US was sowing the seeds for perpetual war.

They were planting a garden in which a million Bin Ladens would later bloom.

This policy played right into the hands of the, then, tiny and insignificant fundamentalist groups who managed, allegedly at the direction of Mohammed, to carry out the deadliest terror attack ever on US soil. Now, a group who was never heard of 3 years ago is recruiting people on a global scale and growing their ranks daily.

Sadly, the United States is showing no signs of reversing course, and they are playing right into the hands of these terror groups — who feed off the West’s foreign policy.

As the Free Thought Project’s Jay Syrmopolous points out, if there is one thing that Islamic fundamentalists and neocon war hawks agree on, it’s that there should be no “grayzone”; only black and white.

The grayzone is the zone of peaceful coexistence. Eliminating the grayzone – and rendering a world as black & white the flag of the Islamic state is the ultimate goal of fundamentalists on all sides.

In fact, a recent ISIS publication, titled Extinction of the Grayzone made clear that the strategy has been at play since the attacks on 9/11.

“The grayzone is critically endangered, rather on the brink of extinction. It’s endangerment began with the blessed operation of September 11th, as these operations manifested two camps before the world for mankind to choose between, a camp of Islam… and a camp of kufr – the crusader coalition.”

ISIS is trying to create a world war, and the West is helping to foster it. A group of murderous sociopaths has their finger on the hair trigger that is a nuclear holocaust. It is sheer insanity!

This letter, which is irresponsibly being written off and ignored by the mainstream media, should serve as a wake-up call — not because a terrorist is providing wisdom — but because of the same reason psychologists try to figure out why people murder.

Until we address the actual cause, the symptoms will continue until there are no more rights and the world lives in a perpetual state of fear and violence. At least for now, we have a choice.
