CODE 3 Introduction to a SAR team – Search and Rescue

As long as people have been venturing out into the wilderness and getting lost, there have been those that have felt compelled to go save them. Usually these are individuals that have specialized training, skills, equipment, and the courage to venture into the worst possible terrain, at the worst possible times, in the worst possible weather. As with a lot of our first responder organizations, the systematic approach we have here in the US was born out of war. Early in the 20th century, several nations needed to develop an approach to find and recover downed aircraft, ships, and missing soldiers. According to NASAR; “Contemporary SAR systems provide response for overdue, lost, injured, or stranded people in many environments.” My experience has all been in rural “wilderness” which is generally considered to be a region that is generally uninhabited and devoid of any manmade amenities. However, this can also describe other locations (even urban) that have suffered a disaster either manmade or natural, or a terrorist attack.

Search and Rescue was my first foray into my life as a first responder and it remains one of my favorites. There are SAR Teams (Search and Rescue) throughout the world, most of them run by the national military or government agencies. Here, in the US, we have a combination of local county, state, and federal agencies that work in a mutual support model for search and rescue responsibilities. According to Wikipedia; “In January 2008, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the National Response Framework (NRF) which serves as the guiding document for a federal response during a national emergency. In addition to the NRF there are 15 annexes relating to Emergency Support Functions (ESF) which includes other federal agencies that contain resources or expertise to support an emergency. Search and Rescue is included as ESF-9 and divides SAR into 4 primary elements while assigning a federal agency with the lead role for each of the 4 elements.

  • Structural Collapse-USAR: Department of Homeland Security, FEMA

  • Waterborne: US Coast Guard, USCG Auxiliary

  • Inland-wilderness: United States Department of Interior, National Park Service

  • Aeronautical: United States Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service, US Navy (secondary missions for helicopter squadrons.)

In the US SAR standards are developed primarily by ASTM International and the US NFPA which are then used by organizations such as NASAR (National Association of Search and Rescue) to develop training that will meet or exceed those standards.”

In all reality, it would take a HUGE event for the federal agencies to step in and take over the incident command of a local SAR operation, possibly a Yellowstone caldera eruption or 9-11 type event. Usually, it is the local SAR teams in conjunction with other local first responder agencies that will be involved in a mutual aid scenario . In my neck of the woods, that can include local EMS, city PD, county sheriff deputies, border patrol, US Forest Service, and maybe the state patrol. We also have access to a couple of helicopter units, one that is a part of a life flight type service and one that specializes in SAR operations.

OK OK OK…. I know that was very dry, but we had to get that out of the way. Because in all reality being part of a local volunteer SAR team can be one of the most exciting parts of your life! Seriously, where else are you going to get to train and work with 4×4’s, quads, horses, K9’s, jet boats, snow mobiles, snow cats, rappelling, land navigation, austere emergency medicine, tracking, and maybe get to possibly save lives? You get this training from some of the best sources out there. I myself, have trained with county sheriff, local PD, EMS (to be fair I am on both teams), US Border Patrol, US Forest Service, and the Joel Hardin Visual Tracking System. These activities/trainings are things that many adrenaline-fueled personalities (like myself) would actually pay money for and yet they are almost always paid for by the team!

So, each SAR team in each local area is going to be organized differently as far as equipment and skill sets depending on their unique needs for their local area. I can only speak upon my experience on my own SAR team. Generally, a local volunteer SAR team is going to be a non-profit that falls under the jurisdiction of the local Sherriff as a volunteer organization. Being a non-profit it will have a board of directors, a training officer, and a safety officer. It will then be broken down into teams. For our team this consists of:

  • 4×4 team

  • boat team

  • dive team

  • swift water rescue team

  • snowmobile team

  • tracking team

  • avalanche rescue

  • rope team (rappelling)

  • communications

  • Incident Command

In order to become involved in my local SAR team, I first talked with a friend of mine that was already on the team. From him, I learned when the monthly membership meeting was and also found their web site. On the website, I down loaded and filled out a membership application.  I would suggest going to any of the meetings or trainings that they may have, that are open to the public. As part of my application process I had to go through a background check. Generally, if you have no felonies or recent lesser convictions you should be ok, but check with your local SAR team for their local protocols. I then went through an interview process talking about what sort of relevant experience I already had. For me most of that experience came from my involvement and training with the local CPT team in our area where we had covered land navigation, wilderness first aid, etc. They also asked if I would commit to getting my first aid/CPR certification and also study and test for my SAR Tech III certification and go through a year long probationary period before I would become a full voting member of the team. The SAR Tech certification system was first developed in 1991 by NASAR to evaluate three levels of search responders to that a measureable, consistent set of standards, and skills for both individual responders and teams could be had by incident commanders. The three levels are SAR Tech III, SAR Tech II and SAR Tech I / Crew-leader 3.

Again, the decision to join my local SAR team has been one of the most rewarding life choices I have made. It has lead me to a career as first responder among several teams. If you are already a member of your local CPT team I would strongly encourage you to look into plugging in and volunteering with one of your own local volunteer first responder teams.

I will be discussing in further articles the fundamentals that actually go into a Search and Rescue call out.

1st Gear First Responder gear review –CATI Body Armor EMS Package AR600 with the multi-curve CQB lvl 3+ plates

1st Gear — First Responder gear review

CATI Body Armor EMS Package AR600 with the multi-curve CQB lvl 3+ plates

Body armor really is one of those things that truly falls into the category of equipment and skill sets it is far better to have and never need than need and not have. Because the one and only day that you really do need it and don’t have it, could be your last. It’s really a pretty simple insurance plan. But that’s really how the 1st responder community really approaches most things. It’s the reason we take the time to completely refuel, check oil and fluids, oxygen levels and completely clean and restock the ambulance when get done with what is usually several back to back bad calls at 03:30 in the morning. Because 1st responders know that one of the fates named Murphy, is just watching and waiting with a Cheshire cat grin for you to not to just once to teach you in, no indefinite terms, that you really should have. It’s best just not to tempt the fates when one already works so closely to death.

So, I work in a VERY rural district in the Rocky Mountains. There are times that runs can take up to 6 hours’ round trip. There are times that even running code 3 (with lights and sirens) it will take us an hour to get to our patient. When you live in such a remote community you must rely on yourself and your team, simply put, because there is no one else to call for timely back up. Often, we are called out to remote back country locations that are way out in the middle of nowhere and we may be the only 1st responder team going (as in no law enforcement) even if we request law enforcement there are times they just cannot get out to you in time. It is times like these that being self-reliant is the best prescription. There are also a ridiculous number of (jregistered) firearms per household. Don’t get me wrong here, I am a huge support of our rights to arms for self-protection (pretty much every fellow first responder I know are) but there are times that you may be dealing with a mentally unstable individual with a large amount of high caliber firearms back in the middle of nowhere that needs medical help but you could be walking into a potentially an unsafe situation. It is times like these that I have my own EMS body armor on hand.

My personal choice in this equipment is CATI armor’s EMS package using the AR600 with the multi-curve CQB. According to their website: AR600 Armor Plate is an Ultra High Harness (UHH) steel used in the most demanding of armor applications.  While it is not a true NIJ rating, it achieves the level of Level 3+.  What this means is that in addition to performing at NIJ Level 3 standards, it also is Special Threat tested to the 5.56 round of M193 up to 3100 feet per second.  Level 3 steels to not protect against that velocity.  Defeats all lower threats and special threat tested for M193.

You can ask yourself well how do I know if these plates will really hold up under fire? Well some crazy vets from the NITC Training Center(think 12th Mountain Division and Army Ranger types…not desk jockeys and cooks) out of Idaho have put these though paces, they put over 250 rounds onto a single plate consecutively from 9mm FMJ all the way through 3 rounds with a 50 cal. It was only the last three rounds from the 50 cal. That were able to penetrate! But judge for your-self how they held up here’s the video.

I also have the trauma pads inserted as well. This is actually a very light set up for the amount of protection and with curved plates that contour your body lines it makes them noticeably thinner than traditional plates. This comes in handy when you have to kneel down or fit through confined spaces while giving care to your patient. It stays more out of the way. I have my carrier in navy blue with highly reflective white EMS, the Star of Life patches on both the front and back. I have not ever been shot at in the line of duty working with the ambulance. (It has only happened once while I was working as a fire-line EMT on the wildland fires last year.) I hope I will never have need of this equipment in the future, but I can’t count on that.

You can get into the exact same setup I personally use from CATI Armor for about $385 with everything; plates, trauma pads, carrier, ems patches. Shipping will be extra. But I can guarantee that it will be immensely less expensive than the ambulance ride, ER, surgery and recovery that if you are lucky enough to survive you will have to pay for! You can make a very, very bad day a little better with the addition of this gear.

There’s also one other big reason that I can think of to support CATI Armor, they have so far unpublicized program where they are donating full sets of armor to rural local law enforcement agencies that are in need of and cannot afford to outfit their LEO’s with this life saving equipment. I personally know officers from two different states that now have their back covered thanks to the generous donations from CATI Armor!

Check out CATI armor at www.catiarmor.com tell them Spyder sent you.

If you are a manufacturer of equipment or supplies for the 1st responder community and would like to have your gear reviewed please email me at spydersthompson@gmail.com to set it up.

I’ll have another review for you next week.

The Code 3, Beginning My Journey as a 1st Responder

by Spyder Thompson

There is an unsung warrior class right here amongst us. They answer the call of duty at the worst possible times, traveling to the worst possible places, quite often during the worst weather that mother nature can muster. They are the ones that run towards the columns of smoke and disaster, are ushered through road blocks to go do battle with the dragons of accidents, attacks, and natural disasters. All “so that others may live,” and while these warriors do wear uniforms, they are not multi-cam. There are no holidays dinners, birthday parties of loved ones, or Christmas mornings that are off duty. Many of them are not paid for their service, yet they put their lives on the line every time they are called out.

They are the men and women of the EMS (Emergency Medical Services,) SAR (Search and Rescue,) Firefighters (both structural and wild-land,) and Police. They are America’s first responder communities.

I, at one time, came from the mindset that all government employees were to be looked at with suspicion and mistrust. That was before I joined the ranks of the 1st responders. But now, I have knowledge from direct experience, and it has dramatically changed my view of the men and women who serve these agencies. That’s not to say that there are not bad people who are members of these communities, it just means that we must look at the greater picture and recognize them as the bad apples that they are. That, and we must be diligent in calling out the bad apples and hold them to account for their actions.

My journey started a couple of years back when I was working as a writer for a political website. In my work, I had come across Stewart Rhodes of the Oath Keepers, after he had just launched his CPT (Community Preparedness Teams) initiative. This, I thought, was a great idea. I joined my local CPT and began training regularly with them.   The Oath Keepers national call to action and official guidance on CPT urges them to join their local first responder community and integrate with it.  This, I think, is crucial and there are CPT teams across the country that do this very well and those where it really needs to be focused on.

The original purpose and intent of the CPT program is to prepare the community, not just the teams. This is the driving concept that each CPT team across the country needs to keep in the forefront of their training and activities. If they (the CPT team) do not keep this as part of the mission it can cause problems at the local level. If there has been not enough, or no contact with the existing first responder teams before an event happens it can, for all intense purposes, cause the 1st responder community to look at CPT with suspicion and possibly worse – believe the erroneous message of the main stream media that CPT and the Oath Keepers are “anti-government.” If this were the case, then when a large-scale incident were to happen, there would not be the trust and rapport needed to call on them for assistance. How could we fix this problem? By taking our existing skill sets and eagerness to learn and join the existing first responder communities.

Living in the mountains of the west, I thought that joining my local Search and Rescue team might be a good start. It would further the skills I already had in land navigation, communications, wilderness survival, and medical care, all while helping me to get into better shape, which at the time I was in desperate need of. The process was pretty straight forward, I found their website and submitted an online application. Within a month, I was contacted by the team’s president and an interview was set up for after the next monthly meeting of the membership. During the interview, they asked about my past experience and what my motivation was for wanting to join the team. Really, for me, my main motivation was to give back to my local community in a tangible way. I remember thinking that if one of my three daughters was cold, hurt, alone, and lost in the wilderness, what kind of person would I want to be out there searching for her and in the end the answer to that question was someone like me.

It was in the next month, I was made a probationary member of the team. I needed to get my CPR license updated and also needed to take and pass the SAR Tech 1 certification through NASAR (The National Association for Search and Rescue.) NASAR was founded in 1972 for the training of search and rescue, disaster relief, emergency medicine, and awareness education. NASAR is interested in search and rescue as a humanitarian mission. They also provide a national standard for training and skills. Once I accomplished these, I was able to be called out for missions.

I really cannot believe that more people are not interested in being a part of their local SAR team. During the first year of training, I was able to train with and become competent in several areas that are incredibly exciting. Rappelling, 4×4 riding, snowmobiles/snow cats, and boats are just a few of the types of experiences you will get to have. All this while building team dynamics and really getting a sense that you are really helping people on some of the worst days of their lives.

After being a member of the SAR team for about a year, I went on to join the local ambulance service. This, I really kind of fell into. I had heard from a fellow member of the CPT team that the ambulance service was having their 24-hour refresher course once a week and that it was free and open to the public. I began attending their trainings, hoping just to get some emergency medical training that would be of use in my SAR callouts. I found that I had a keen interest in Emergency Medicine and within in 2 months of training I began driving for the ambulance service. A month later I was working on attaining my own EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) license. That summer I was brought on to the service as a full member. That would be a very busy summer for me as I also applied for, and was accepted to be a wildland fire fighter (as a fire-line qualified EMT). A week after passing my NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians,) I was living out of a tent on an isolated mountain side going through the USFS (United States Forest Service) Guard School. This is the training one must go through to become a type 2 wildland fire fighter. That summer would prove to be one of the most intense fire seasons in history and I would travel to 6 different fires.

I now have an immense feeling of pride in serving and giving back what I can to my community. I have an ever-evolving skill set that is continuously being added to and I am in the best shape of my life!

In this new series of articles “Code 3”, I will be discussing different aspects of the first responder communities and what it is like to live the life of a first responder. Additionally, I will also be putting out gear reviews, going over new tools and tech that can help in the fight “so that others may live.”

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1750339337641336579

A panel of our most experienced veteran street cops and SWAT officers, some still current serving, as well as Special Warfare and combat arms veterans, will present on:

1. Their analysis and findings on what policies, programs, and TTPs (tactics, techniques, and procedures), need to be put in place by schools and local LEOs to most effectively protect the students, as well as what legislative and regulatory changes would need to take place at the local and federal level to facilitate those changes. What will keep the students safe? What needs to change, what needs to be done, and how do we do it for long term, lasting solutions to the threat of “active shooter” mass murderer and terrorist attacks against our schools?

2. Their recommendations, advice, and guidelines for our Oath Keepers volunteers in Operation We Got Your Six (WGY6), who are volunteering to serve on campus with school permission, if possible, and are also posting off campus to overwatch schools to spot and report to local LEOs any potential threats, with the expectation that only our most well trained, experienced, and qualified professional police and military members will be expected to be prepared to directly respond to a worst case scenario of an ongoing mass murder attack such as recently happened in Florida.  Emphasis will be on effective coordination with local LEOs, with the schools, and with each other to avoid blue-on-blue tragedies, and emphasis will be on putting a primary on effective observation and overwatch, with direct action being the last resort, and only by our most skilled designated responders.  This webinar will help you do it right.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words – the Marxist/Black Nationalist/Reconquista/ SJW Alliance

Please register and join us for an important Post State of the Union Oath Keepers Briefing on Feb 9, 2018 8:00 PM CST (9PM EST) at:

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3667543468704726017

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.   Please plan on joining by computer so you will be able to see video presentations and also so you can ask questions and make comments.

Presenters will be Navy Jack and Stewart Rhodes.   We may add other presenters.

NavyJack will review the continuing efforts of the resistance movement against Trump, including the coordinated support for the office of special counsel Mueller. He will provide a list of potential guideposts that will determine the landscape for the upcoming mid-term elections, the prognosis for the remaining three years of the President’s term, and how these events are shaping domestic and foreign policy.

Stewart Rhodes will present on the reality that the state government of California, by declaring itself a “sanctuary state,” is now  in insurrection against the legitimate, constitutionally enacted immigration laws of the Union, in direct violation of clear federal law that makes harboring illegal aliens a felony offense, and how this amounts to an insurrection against the Constitution itself, which guarantees to each state a republican form of government – and how this is the latest salvo in an ongoing Marxist/Democratic party coup/insurrection which aims to illegitimately secure a permanent leftist/Democratic lock on political power not just in California but across the nation.  He will also highlight some ominous parallels with what is happening in Europe and how this all ties in with globalist goals of destabilization and consolidation of their power.

Stewart will also lead a discussion on what can and must be done about this at the federal and state level, and what role we the people, and especially we the trained military and police, have to play in putting down this insurrection – which is aimed at the final checkmate and destruction of our Constitutional Republic.

Please join us for this important webinar.   You will be encouraged to ask questions and to comment.   Please invite your friends and family to attend, and please also spread the word on social media and by email.

We have a limit of 1,000 registered attendees,  so please register right away to reserve a slot.

For the Republic,

PS – Please note that this is not about race.  This is about ideology – the cancer of Marxism that has infected this nation just like it has infected Europe with similar results – intentional national assisted suicide.    The Marxists use racial ‘identity politics” to divide and conquer the American people along racial lines, and in particular aim to radicalize and weaponize both native born and immigrant racial minorities, by indoctrinating them with Marxist ideology and resultant hatred of this nation and its institutions.  Immigrants (legal and illegal) are encouraged NOT to assimilate, and to instead have loyalty to their nation of origin and to their race- if non-white (just as is done in Europe with the Muslim immigrants, except they are encouraged to place radical Islam in the prime place of loyalty).  Native born American minorities are likewise conditioned to hate and despise the nation of their birth and its Constitution, as being inherently “racist, imperialistic, and oppressive” – the standard Marxist propaganda against all Western Civilization.

This is not about race.  This is about ideology.  A message from new Oath Keepers member, Max Vasquez (USMC Vietnam veteran):  “Just let him know that I support and stand next to him. Ready to go to the border and help secure it. “To Protect and Defend..”, Oath did not have an expiration date on it.”  Semper Fi Marine.  You fought communists in Vietnam, now you fight them here too.

Of course, the Marxists, especially in universities, also indoctrinate millions of white Americans to likewise hate and despise the nation of their birth, using the same propaganda – again, just as is done in Europe, so that anyone who opposes them is labeled “racist” and “fascist” for simply defending the fundamental building blocks of Western Civilization such as rule of law, private property, free enterprise, individual liberty, free speech, constitutional limited government, and sane immigration that only allows immigration at a rate that ensures assimilation and loyalty to the nation.  in fact, the very concept of a nation, with secured borders and enforced immigration laws, which deserves loyalty, is attacked.  All of of the above are demonized as inherently “racist” and “xenophobic” with the only “approved answer” being unconditional surrender and submission to endless open border immigration, non-assimilation, and intentional balkanization.  The goal is nothing less than the fragmenting and destruction of all of Western Civilization, to be replaced with a SJW Marxist Hell on Earth which the globalist, corporate fascist elites will ultimately rule from above.

That is how we end up with white, black, and brown Americans all burning the American flag, flying the Soviet flag or some other foreign flag, refusing to stand for the national anthem, and running around in black masks, assaulting anyone who disagrees with them.

And this is why we wouldn’t want ten million white Swedes to emigrate here either, judging by what a FUBAR socialist mess Sweden now is.  No thanks. We have enough Marxist internal enemies already.   Stay in Sweden and fix Sweden.  They demonstrate that ideology shapes destiny, regardless of race.  A cancerous ideology like Marxism will kill any nation.

Thankfully, there are millions of American patriots who are now wise to this strategy and are pushing back.  let’s help lead the way.

The Complete Nunes FISA Memo and Critical Commentary

The Three Stooges of Clinton/Obama Corruption: Comey, Mueller, and Strzok

Below is the complete declassified Nunes memo.  This memo reveals blatant FBI and DOJ corruption, collusion, and criminal conspiracy with the DNC and Clinton Campaign to falsely obtain a FISA warrant on Trump’s advisor, all to attempt to obtain or create dirt on Trump to stop him from becoming president, or to remove him from power afterwards.  This is treason against our laws and our Constitution.  It is now time arrests, prosecutions, convictions, and prison for all involved.

Here is the full text of the declassified memo, as well as a cover letter from White House Counsel.  Below that is further commentary by Oath Keepers and others.

[TEXT OF LETTER FROM WHITE HOUSE COUNSEL]

THE WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON

February 2, 2018

The Honorable Devin Nunes

Chairman, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

United States Capitol

Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Chairman:

On January 29, 2018, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (hereinafter the Committee) voted to disclose publicly a memorandum containing classified information provided to the Committee in connection with its oversight activities (the Memorandum, which is attached to this letter). As provided by clause 11(g) of Rule of the House of Representatives, the Committee has forwarded this Memorandum to the President based on its determination that the release of the Memorandum would serve the public interest.

The Constitution vests the President with the authority to protect national security secrets from it disclosure. As the Supreme Court has recognized, it is the President’s responsibility to classify, declassify, and control access to information bearing on our intelligence sources and methods and national defense. See, Dep of Navy v. Egan, 484 US. 518, 527 (1988). In order to facilitate appropriate congressional oversight, the Executive Branch may entrust classified information to the appropriate committees of Congress, as it has done in connection with the Committee’s oversight activities here. The Executive Branch does so on the assumption that the Committee will responsibly protect such classified information, consistent with the laws of the United States.

The Committee has now determined that the release of the Memorandum would be appropriate.

The Executive Branch, across Administrations of both parties, has worked to accommodate congressional requests to declassify specific materials in the public interest. (1) However, public release of classified information by unilateral action of the Legislative Branch is extremely rare and raises significant separation of powers concerns. Accordingly, the Committee’s request to release the Memorandum is interpreted as a request for declassification pursuant to the President’s  authority.

The President understands that the protection of our national security represents his highest obligation. Accordingly, he has directed lawyers and national security staff to assess the

Dept. 114 f8 at 12 (Administration of Barack Obama) ( On April 3, 2014 . . . the Committee agreed to send the revised Findings and Conclusions, and the updated Executive Summary of the Committee Study, to the President for declassification and public release f); H. Dept. 107-792 (Administration of George W. Bush) (similar); E.O. 12812 (Administration of George H.W. Bush) (noting Senate resolution requesting that President provide for

declassification of certain information Via Executive Order).

declassification request, consistent with established standards governing the handling of classified information, including those under Section 3.1(d) of Executive Order 13526. Those standards permit declassification when the public interest in disclosure outweighs any need to protect the information. The White House review process also included input from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice. Consistent with this review and these standards, the President has determined that declassification of the Memorandum is appropriate.

Based on this assessment and in light of the significant public interest in the memorandum, the President has authorized the declassification of the Memorandum. To be clear, the Memorandum reflects the judgments of its congressional authors. The President understands

that oversight concerning matters related to the Memorandum may be continuing. Though the circumstances leading to the declassification through this process are extraordinary, the Executive Branch stands ready to work with Congress to accommodate oversight requests

consistent with applicable standards and processes, including the need to protect intelligence sources and methods.

Sincerely,

Donald F. McGahn II

Counsel to the President

Speaker of the House of Representatives

The Honorable Adam Schiff

Ranking Member, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

[FULL TEXT OF DECLASSIFIED NUNES MEMO STARTS HERE]

Declassified by order of the President

February 2, 2018

January 18, 2018

To: HPSCI Majority Members

From: HPSCI Majority Staff

Subject: Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Abuses at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Purpose

This memorandum provides Members an update on significant facts relating to the Committee’s ongoing investigation into the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and their use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (F ISA) during the 2016 presidential election cycle. Our findings, which are detailed below, 1) raise concerns with the legitimacy and legality of certain DOJ and FBI interactions with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), and 2) represent a troubling breakdown of legal processes established to protect the American people from abuses related to the ISA process.

Investigation Update

– On October 21, 2016, DOJ and FBI sought and received a FISA probable cause order  (up; under Title VII) authorizing electronic surveillance on Carter Page from the FISC. Page is a US citizen who served as a volunteer advisor to the Trump presidential campaign. Consistent with requirements under FISA, the application had to be first certified by the Director or Deputy Director of the FBI. It then required the approval of the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney

General (DAG), or the Senate confirmed Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division.

The FBI and DOJ obtained one initial FISA warrant targeting Carter Page and three FISA renewals from the FISC. As required by statute (50 U.S.C. a FISA order on an American citizen must be renewed by the ISC every 90 days and each renewal requires a separate finding of probable cause. Then-Director James Comey signed three FISA applications in question on behalf of the FBI, and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe signed one. Sally Yates, then-Acting DAG Dana Boente, and DAG Rod Rosenstein each signed one or more FISA applications on behalf of Due to the sensitive nature of foreign intelligence activity, FISA submissions (including renewals) before the ISC are classified. As such, the public’s confidence in the integrity of the FISA process depends on the court’s ability to hold the government to the highest standard — particularly as it relates to surveillance of American citizens. However, the rigor in protecting the rights of Americans, which is reinforced by 90 day renewals of surveillance orders, is necessarily dependent on the government’s production to the court of all material and relevant facts. This should include information potentially favorable to the target of the FISA application that is known by the government. In the case of Carter Page, the government had at least four independent opportunities before the FISC to accurately provide an accounting of the relevant facts. However, our findings indicate that, as described below, material and relevant information was omitted.

1)   The dossier compiled by Christopher Steele (Steele dossier) on behalf of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton campaign formed an essential part of the Carter Page FISA application. Steele was a longtime FBI source who was paid over $160,000 by the DNC and Clinton campaign, via the law firm Perkins Coie and research firm Fusion GPS, to obtain derogatory information on Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

a) Neither the initial application in October 2016, nor any of the renewals, disclose or reference the role of the DNC, Clinton campaign, or. any party/campaign in funding Steele’s efforts, even though the political origins of the Steele dossier were then known to senior and FBI officials.

b) The initial FISA application notes Steele was working for a named US. person, but does not name Fusion GPS and principal Glenn Simpson, who was paid by a US. law firm (Perkins Coie) representing the DNC (even though it was known by DOI at the, time that political actors were involved with the Steele dossier). The application does not mention Steele was ultimately working on behalf of and paid by the DNC and Clinton campaign, or that the FBI had separately authorized payment to Steele for the same information.

2)  The Carter Page FISA application also cited extensively a September 23, 2016, Yahoo News article by- Michael Isikoff, which focuses on Page fs July 2016 trip to Moscow. This article does not corroborate the Steele dossier because it is derived from information leaked by Steele himself to Yahoo News. The Page FISA application incorrectly assesses that Steele did not directly provide information to Yahoo News. Steele has admitted in British court flings that he met with Yahoo Newly – and several other outlets – in September 2016 at the direction of Fusion GPS. Perkins Coie was aware of Steele initial media contacts because they hosted at least one meeting in Washington DC. in 2016 with Steele and Fusion GPS where this matter was discussed.

a)  Steele was suspended and then terminated as an FBI source for what the FBI defines as the most serious of violations fan unauthorized disclosure to the media of his relationship with the FBI in an October 30, 2016, Mother Jones article by David Corn Steele should have been terminated for his previous undisclosed contacts with Yahoo and other outlets’ 1n September before the Page application was submitted to the FISC in October-but Steele improperly concealed from and lied to the FBI about those contacts.

b) Steele fs numerous encounters with the media violated the cardinal rule of source handling maintaining confidentiality and demonstrated that Steele had become a less than reliable source for the FBI.

3)  Before and after Steele was terminated as a source, he maintained contact with DOJ via then-Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce 0hr, a senior DOJ official who worked closely with Deputy Attorneys General Yates and later Rosenstein. Shortly after the election, the FBI began interviewing 0hr, documenting his communications with Steele. For example, in September 2016, Steele admitted to 0hr his feelings against then-candidate Trump when Steele said he “was desperate that Donald Trump not get  elected and was passionate about him not being president.”   This clear evidence of Steele’s bias was recorded by Ohr at the time and subsequently in official FBI files – but not reflected in any of the Page FISA applications.

a) During this same time period, Ohr’s wife was employed by Fusion GPS to assist in the cultivation of opposition research on Trump. Ohr later provided the FBI with all of his wife’s opposition research, paid for by the DNC and Clinton campaign via Fusion GPS. The Ohrs’ relationship with Steele and Fusion GPS was inexplicably concealed from the FISC.

4)  According to the head of the counterintelligence division, Assistant Director Bill Priestap, corroboration of the Steele dossier was in its “infancy” at the time of the initial Page FISA application. After Steele was terminated, a source validation report conducted by an independent unit within FBI assessed Steele’s reporting as only minimally corroborated. Yet, in early January 2017, Director Comey briefed President-elect Trump on a summary of the Steele dossier, even though it was – according to his June 2017 testimony – “salacious and unverified.”  While the FISA application relied on Steele’s past record of credible reporting on other unrelated matters, it ignored or concealed his anti Trump financial and ideological motivations. Furthermore, Deputy Director McCabe testified before the Committee in December 2017 that no surveillance warrant would have been sought from the FISC without the Steele dossier information.

5) The Page FISA application also mentions information regarding fellow Trump campaign advisor George Papadopoulos, but there is no evidence of any cooperation or conspiracy between Page and Papadopoulos. The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening

of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok. Strzok was reassigned by the Special Counsel’s Office to FBI Human Resources for improper text messages with his mistress, FBI Attorney Lisa Page (no known relation to Carter Page), where they both demonstrated a clear bias against Trump and in favor of Clinton, Whom Strzok had also investigated. The Strzok/Lisa Page texts also reflect extensive discussions about the investigation, orchestrating leaks to the media, and include a meeting with Deputy Director McCabe to discuss an “insurance” policy against President Trump’s election.

Stefan Molyneux – THE MEMO HAS BEEN RELEASED

From Shorty Dawkins:

The long awaited Nunes FISA Memo has finally been released.

The Memo clearly points to unethical, and perhaps criminal, activities of certain high-level individuals in the FBI and DOJ. The whole Russia/Trump conspiracy investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is now called into question as having been instigated by a hoax. There can be no other conclusion.

Contrary to the screams of the Democrats and others, there is nothing that harms national security in the Memo, unless you think pointing out possible unethical, or criminal, activity in a government institution harms national security. Cries of national security, in this case, are clearly alarms meant to cover up the actions revealed in the Memo, and the individuals involved.

Wrongdoing cannot be tolerated at any level of government. When discovered, it must be exposed and then punished. Those who cover up wrongdoing are equally guilty and must be exposed.

Richard Nixon resigned in disgrace, not for having any part in the Watergate burglary, but for his part in the ensuing coverup.

I invite you all to read the Memo, and draw your own conclusions.

That certain high-level individuals may be embarrassed, at the very least, or potentially brought up on charges, does not mean that national security is in jeopardy. No, it merely means that wrongdoing has been exposed. It was not the rank and file members of the FBI and DOJ who perpetrated these actions. It was, according to the Memo, certain individuals within the FBI and DOJ, that colluded with outside organizations that plotted to destroy Donald Trump, using unverified, salacious documents supplied by a foreign spy with a hatred for Trump.

The Democrats have continuously fought in unison to prevent this information from being released. Why? Because their fingerprints are all over the “dossier” that was the impetus of the FISA warrants and the Fusion GPS/Steele unverified documents that were the springboard to the Mueller Special Counsel investigation. The Democrats wanted we, the American people, to be kept in the dark. They were intent on covering up the transgressions of high-level friends who were working to undermine, or possibly destroy, first candidate Trump and now President Trump.

The Community’s Response to Line of Duty Deaths

by Steve Warneke

When I first heard the awkward, high-pitched, horn-like sound emitting from a bagpipe, I questioned the musical integrity of the instrument. I couldn’t exactly envision myself sitting back in an armchair, wearing my smoker’s jacket, sipping a fine brandy, listening to the LP of “The World’s Greatest Bagpipe Hits.” But after 15 years in law enforcement, I now have come to understand the magic, beauty, and emotion that free flows from these amazing instruments.

When large numbers of Irish immigrants came to the United States in the 1840s, many had difficulty finding work. They were only able to apply for unwanted, dangerous, and difficult jobs, including those of firefighter and police officer. So it follows that when one of them was killed in the line of duty, the Irish community would hold a traditional Irish funeral, which included the beautiful bagpipes. Over time, this tradition spread to all of those killed in the line of duty, regardless of their heritage.

Unfortunately, you will have an opportunity to hear bagpipes this Friday if you listen to, watch, or go to the services for Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy Heath Gumm. While attempting to question a suspect involved in a dispute in Thornton, Colorado, he was killed after being shot several times in the chest. Gumm is one of eight officers to die in the line of duty, five of them by gunfire in America, since the beginning of the year.

Here’s why the death of a peace officer is so significant to our community.

Police officers are the defenders of our society. They are symbols of peace and justice. They are the reason we are afforded our quality of life. If all police officers left the job right now, there would be rioting, looting, and anarchy within hours, all over America’s streets. We have seen just how quickly that scenario can materialize after major events like Hurricane Katrina. Police officers are the reason we can sleep peacefully, voice our opinions, or take our Louis Vuitton bag out in public to go get a latte at Starbucks.

The most valuable thing any of us have is our life. It’s more valuable than money, possessions, or knowledge. Surely even Steve Jobs would have traded in all his billions of dollars to continue to live. We as a society recognize and acknowledge the sanctity of human life, and this belief is reflected in our laws and religions. Yet police officers go out everyday and literally gamble their lives for the peace and prosperity of strangers. They drive INTO the chaos, violence, and danger while everyone else is running AWAY.

For these reasons, the death of a police officer deserves our time, respect, and attention. It’s important to pay tribute to the men and women who are the modern day heroes of our world, especially when one of them is ripped away from their family, friends and loved ones by a criminal intent on disrupting our beautiful way of life.

To wish you a Happy New Year, Oath Keepers is holding a special membership drive and sale.   From now until midnight, January 31, 2018, you can join Oath Keepers, renew your membership, or give someone a gift membership at a great discount rate, and have a chance to win an AR-15 rifle and other great prizes (see below).

Every membership purchased during this membership drive (including renewals) will be entered into a drawing (void where prohibited) for:

1. A Frontier Armory AR15 5.56 rifle

2.  An Oath Keepers Lifetime membership (a $1,000.00 value) or

3.   A Glock 20 SF 10mm Handgun (see below for details).

During this Special, a one year membership is only $29.95 (normally $40.00). And you can get a Lifetime Membership for only $800.00 (normally $1,000.00) or a Lifetime with Spouse membership for only $1,100.00 (normally $1,500.00).

Give yourself a membership or renew at a discount rate if already a member. If you renew, the renewal will go into effect on your current renewal date – so, for example, if a renewal date is April 20, 2018, the renewed membership will start April 21, 2018 even if you renew sooner, during this sale.

Give a discounted membership as a New Years gift to a veteran or other dedicated patriot (NOTE: even if a person has not served in the military, police, or as a fire-fighter, EMT, Search and Rescue, or other first-responder, they can still join as an *Associate Member * and participate in all that we do – we are all in this together).

*GO HERE* now to join at the special discount rate (or to give a gift membership to someone else).

THIRD PLACE PRIZE:
GLOCK 20SF (10MM) HANDGUN

This awesome Glock 20 SF (Short Frame) 10mm comes with two 15 round magazines.   “The SF model reduces the circumference of the receiver at the rear, or ‘backstrap,’ offering increased comfort and control—especially to shooters with smaller hands.” This is a fantastic handgun, chambered for the powerful and flat-shooting 10mm round, which is a favorite of outdoorsmen and rural LEOs nation-wide who prefer a semi-auto for defense against both two legged and four legged predators, as well as for hunting (the 10mm with solid loads is known to deliver more penetration and longer practical range than the .45).

Additional Drawing Information:

All memberships purchased between midnight December 16, 2017 and midnight, January 31, 2018, will be entered into this drawing. The three winners will be randomly picked by computer from all entrants including post card entrants.  If the entry was a gift, the person named on the membership entry or postcard will be the the winner.*

NOTE: Winner of the rifle or handgun must be lawfully eligible to receive and own that weapon in their state of residence and must receive it at an FFL. If the winner lives in one of the jacked-up states that doesn’t respect the Second Amendment … move! Just kidding. We will substitute a weapon of comparable or lesser value that you are eligible to own in your commie state (but you should still move!).*

Winner must be legally eligible to own the firearm, and must receive it in person at an FFL Dealer in their state of residence and go through the whole paperwork process required by that dealer and all applicable laws. (See our website for further details).*
