Scientists discover 15 new planets, including one “super-Earth” that could harbor liquid water

Fifteen new planets were confirmed to be orbiting red dwarf stars near our solar system. As per a report that appeared in Science Daily, one of the newly-discovered worlds is a super-Earth that could have liquid water.

The new exoplanets were located by researchers from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech). Under the aegis of Teruyuki Hirano of the Department of Earth and Planetary Science, they pored over data from the Kepler space telescope and ground-based counterparts. The Tokyo Tech team published their findings in two separate studies in The Astronomical Journal.

Red dwarfs are small and relatively cool stars. They are often studied for clues on the formation and evolution of planets.

One of those stars is K2-155. Located roughly 200 light years from Earth, it is accompanied by three super-Earths, each one a bit bigger than our planet.

The Tokyo Tech researchers believe that the outermost exoplanet, K2-155d, is inside the habitable zone of its home star. Furthermore, based on three-dimensional simulations of global climate, they determined that the surface of K2-155d might have liquid water.

“In our simulations, the atmosphere and the composition of the planet were assumed to be Earth-like, and there’s no guarantee that this is the case,” Hirano says.

To find out whether or not K2-155d could support life, the Tokyo Tech team needs a precise estimate of the radius and temperature of its local star. Astronomical interferometric techniques could be one way to achieve the necessary resolution to study K2-155’s size and temperature.

Planets around red dwarfs are remarkably similar with other planets

One of the takeaways from the Tokyo Tech studies is that there is not much difference between planets that orbit red dwarf stars and those that circle yellow stars like our own Sun. “It’s important to note that the number of planets around red dwarfs is much smaller than the number around solar-type stars,” says Hirano.

He and his fellow researchers have only scratched at the surface of the mystery surrounding red dwarf stars. Hirano mentions that they have discovered a radius gap of planets in K2-155.

Science Daily defines the radius gap as a lower occurrence of planets with a radius of 1.5 to two times the size of Earth. K2-155d sits within this gap, being 1.6 times the size of Earth.

“This is a unique finding, and many theoretical astronomers are now investigating what causes this gap,” says Hirano. Previously, the gap was only confirmed for planets around yellow stars, so this and other developments make red dwarfs very popular targets for study.

Asked about the absence of large planets located near their host stars, Hirano theorizes photoevaporation reduced the atmosphere of such planets. He also notes the correlation between a planet’s size and the metal content of the host star.

“Large planets are only discovered around metal-rich stars, and what we found was consistent with our predictions. The few planets with a radius about three times that of Earth were found orbiting the most metal-rich red dwarfs,” Hirano says. The hunt for exoplanets never stops

The studies were conducted as part of the KESPRINT collaboration between Kepler Exoplanet Science Team (KEST) and ESPRINT.

NASA is preparing to launch its Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) in April 2018. Hirano has high expectations for the new space telescope.

“TESS is expected to find many candidate planets around bright stars closer to Earth,” he says. “This will greatly facilitate follow-up observations, including investigation of planetary atmospheres and determining the precise orbit of the planets.”

Elon Musk, speaking at SXSW, projects Mars spaceship will be ready for short trips by first half of 2019

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk told an audience at South by Southwest that his timeline for sending a space vehicle to Mars could mark its first milestone early next year.

The privately-funded venture, announced in September 2017, aims to send a cargo mission to the Red Planet by 2022. SpaceX’s ultimate objective is to plant the seeds to put a human colony on Mars.

Musk held a surprise question and answer session at the annual technology and culture festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday. The billionaire told attendees that “we are building the first Mars, or interplanetary ship, and I think we’ll be able to do short trips, flights by first half of next year.”

Mindful of elevating expectations too high, Musk hedged a bit. “Although sometimes, my timelines are a little, you know…” he said to laughter.

How were the angles so precisely calculated and created?

“[Coricancha] is one of the technical marvels of the ancient world because of the exactness of the craftsmanship,” archeologist Brian Forester said.

Moreover, there a holes in various blocks which also bear score marks as if machinery was used during the construction process.

One of the archeologists concludes the hole appears to be a “core drill” which may signify the use of advanced machinery.

Entrance to “underworld” found under Mexican pyramid

(INTELLIHUB) — Mexican archeologists have discovered the existence of an underground tunnel underneath the Pyramid of the Moon in the ancient city of Teotihuacán.

The tunnel runs from underneath the pyramid and connects to the central square where human sacrifices were said to have taken place in front of massive crowds of up to 100,000 people.

It’s believed that the tunnel may have been constructed to mimic the path to the “underworld.”

Incredible graveyard of 5000-year-old ‘giants’ found in China

A graveyard of "giants" buried 5,000 years ago has been uncovered by archaeologists in eastern China

The men, whose bones were discovered in Jiaojia village near Jinan City in Shandong province, would have towered above many of their contemporaries.

Many of the men discovered in the graveyard measured 1.8 metres (5ft 11in) tall and would have seemed like giants to the average person 5,000 years ago.

One of the men in the ancient burial ground measured 1.9 metres (6ft 3in), making him a ‘giant’ of his day.

However, some still feel that the so-called find could have been a publicity stunt.

Over 4000, human skeletons were also found in the area.

(INTELLIHUB) — NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover program has been ongoing since 2004 and incorporates two rovers, the “Spirit,” and the “Opportunity,” both of which have outlasted their planned mission of just 90 Martian solar days.

13-years later, only the Opportunity is still active. But how so? The rover’s solar panels are constantly covered with fine dust from Martian dust storms which routinely envelop the red planet, according to NASA reports.

The official explanation which explains how the rover is still able to operate, according an online encyclopedia, claims that a “cleaning event is a phenomenon whereby dust is removed from solar panels, particularly ones on Mars, by the action of wind. The term cleaning event is used on several NASA webpages; generally the term is used in reference to the fact that Martian winds have blown dust clear off the solar panels of probes on Mars increasing their energy output.”

Newly discovered ‘Jade tablets’ depict interaction of advanced alien life with ancient Maya

Declassified C.I.A. document reveals how a remote viewer identified advanced life on Mars, pyramids, in 1 million B.C.

A declassified document titled: "Mars Exploration" explains how an advanced civilization inhabited Mars before 1 million B.C.

(INTELLIHUB) — On May 22, 1984, a “sealed envelope coupled with geographic coordinates” was personally handed to a ‘remote viewer’ immediately prior to an interview session conducted by a C.I.A. monitor, a declassified C.I.A. document reveals.

In the envelope was a 3 x 5 card containing the following information:

• The Planet Mars


• The time of interest approximately 1 million B.C.

Select geographical coordinates were given to the viewer which were:

• 40.89 degrees north


• 9.55 degrees west

Within ten minutes the remote viewer saw a ‘very high yellowish-colored pyramid sitting in a large depressed area.’

Once the remote viewer went to the appropriate time period of 1 million B.C., the viewer claimed to see “severe clouds” or a “dust storm” which he explained as a “geological problem.”

At that point, the monitor told the remote viewer to go back in time before the problem in which the remote viewer saw megalithic surfaces with very smooth walls and identified shadows of ‘very tall thin people.’

The R.V. was then given more coordinates in which he identified other structures and what the R.V. said was a ‘dying race of people’ who may have took shelter from a storm in massive structures before relocating to another lush world.

The secret society you’ve probably never heard of

(INTELLIHUB) — Truthstream Media’s Aaron Dykes recently posted a video to YouTube that may be of interest to anyone studying secret societies.

In the video, Dykes explains how he came across the word “oculist,” pronounced [ˈäkyələst], while looking at old newspaper articles. At first, Dykes admits he misread the word but found it fascinating so he decided to do more research.

“So just on a whim I decided to search for ‘oculist conspiracy’ and not only was there one but it ended up being more interesting then I thought,” Dykes said.

It turns out there was a coded cipher discovered which was ultimately translated and may be traced back to the “Great Enlightened Society of Oculists.”

Miles of “private” secret tunnels located under City of Amarillo

Emergency tunnels go for miles underneath the city

AMARILLO, Tex. (INTELLIHUB) — A series of secret underground tunnels were located by a local radio station morning host who proceeded to walk through with a cameraperson to document them.

The “private” tunnels are long and go in various directions under the city and can be accessed in a building near the corner of 10th Ave. and Pierce St. by taking “Elevator 4” to level “B.”

One tunnel captured on camera was more than 1/2 mile long and was labeled “Yellow Route,” another was labeled “Red Route.”

The tunnels seem to be vast and connect to other key points in the city.

Giant footprints found at ancient Syrian temple

SYRIA (INTELLIHUB) — The Ain Dara Temple, once buried, has been unearthed by archaeologists working around the ruins since 1955.

But even more interesting is the fact that a pair of giant footprints were carved into the floor near the center of the temple facing the altar which if real would support a being 60 feet in height, according to researchers.

Antarctic research lab threatened by 30-mile long crack on ice, vacated

ANTARCTICA (INTELLIHUB) — A 30-mile long crack that appeared on the ice has made researchers extremely nervous, prompting them to “vacate” their encampment entirely.

This will mark the first time in 60-years that the British research facility Halley VI will be shut down due to rapidly changing conditions on the ice shelf which have pinned in the facility between two massive fissures.

A massive new crack in the ice opened up all the way down to sea water for a 30-mile span. The average thickness of the ice in the area is estimated to be about 400 feet, which will allow the research team to eventually return and relocate the 8 detachable pods.

“[…] when the time comes the pods can be towed on their ski-like feet,” PBS News Hour’s Julia Griffin explained.

The team’s Director of Science David Vaughn said the facility feels like a “large ship on the ice, looking out across the vast expanse of essentially nothingness.”

Vaughn said that the two cracks have made the ice shelf as a whole “very unpredictable.”

“Maybe the ice shelf will go back to a new equilibrium in time, but at the moment we just can’t predict with any certainty how long that will take.”

Alien life? Scientists pinpoint galaxy where fast radio bursts originate

(INTELLIHUB) — For the first time ever, astronomers have pinpointed the home galaxy where numerous “fast radio bursts” have originated from. The bursts have puzzled scientists since their discovery a decade ago, with at least 18 of the bursts being recorded since 2007.

Interestingly, only one such fast radio burst, discovered in Puerto Rico, has actually repeated itself and now astronomers have confirmed that it comes from a galaxy billions of light-years away.

“By using telescopes from around the world, “we now know that this particular burst comes from a dwarf galaxy more than 3 billion light-years from Earth,” astronomer Shami Chatterjee of Cornell University told USA Today. 

The radio bursts are “highly energetic” while lasting just a few thousandths of a second. Many within the UFO research community as well as some mainstream observers believe that the bursts could easily be from alien life.

The USA Today report continued, “Prior to this discovery, astronomers had lacked the definitive proof that the bursts come from far outside our Milky Way galaxy.”

“The dwarf galaxy itself, which is less than 1% of the mass of our Milky Way galaxy, is rather unremarkable. “It is surprising that such an exotic source is hosted by such an unimpressive galaxy,” said Joan Schmelz of the Arecibo Observatory.”

The findings were presented at an American Astronomical Society meeting as well as published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Antarctic mystery unveiled — new evidence

(INTELLIHUB) —  “Once the Turkish Navy’s advanced navigation tool,” the Piri Reis Map was “lost for over four centuries” before being rediscovered in 1929, according to Ancient Aliens TV.

The Piri Reis Map detail the Antarctic continents northern ridge and predates all other known drawings.

Shockingly yet even another map exists, crafted at a later date, which details rivers and lakes in Antarctica recently confirmed by satellite imagery to actually exist.

So was Antarctica transformed by earth changes at one point which led to the demise of an ancient culture?

Is this why the U.S. Navy traversed the icy region with a massive fleet of ships to in 1946 and 1947 during Operation High Jump?
