America, 2017: Police Are Guarding Christopher Columbus Statues Against Vandals

America, 2017: Police Are Guarding Christopher Columbus Statutes Against Vandals

The crusade against Christopher Columbus and American history took another turn in the past week, as a statue of the famous explorer was given police protection.

A squad of police was assigned to protect the monument in Manhattan’s Columbus Square, CBS reported. The cops were placed there after Columbus statues around New York City in recent weeks were vandalized.

“The NYPD is closely tracking the social media campaign and regularly assessing security needs around Columbus statues,” said Austin Finan, a spokesman for New York’s City Hall.

Both uniformed and plainclothes officers are now assigned to protect the statue 24 hours a day. There also are cameras on the statue.

Put God Back Into History And Teach Your Kids What They Won’t Learn Anywhere Else!

“That’s really unfortunate,” Philip Foglia of the Italian American Legal Defense and Education Fund told CBS New York. “Italian Americans have paraded peacefully for 80 years and now for it to create a situation where there may be some violation or desecration doesn’t serve any purpose at all.”

Columbus has long been a symbol of pride in the Italian American community.

President Benjamin Harrison declared the first Columbus Day in 1892 to observe the 400th anniversary of the explorer’s first trip to America. Congress and President Franklin D. Roosevelt made it a federal holiday in 1937.

This is not the first time Columbus Day was targeted by cultural warriors. Back in the 1920s, the Ku Klux Klan tried to get rid of the holiday because it celebrated a Roman Catholic, The Truth about Columbus website noted. Klansmen even burned crosses in an attempt to disrupt a Columbus Day celebration.

The modern anti-Columbus movement began in 1989 when members of the American Indian Movement dumped buckets of blood on a statue of the explorer in Denver, Washington Post writer Steven Hendrix noted. Since then, anti-Columbus protests inspired by left-wing historian Howard Zinn have become common.

Science Tells Us This Is All True

Authored by Simon Black via SovereignMan.com,

On April 30, 1934, under pressure from Italian-American lobby groups, the United States Congress passed a law enshrining Columbus Day as a national holiday.

President Franklin Roosevelt quickly signed the bill into law, and the very first Columbus Day was celebrated in October of that year.

Undoubtedly people had a different view of the world back then… and a different set of values.

Few cared about the plight of the indigenous who were wiped out as a result of European conquest.

Even just a few decades ago when I was a kid in elementary school, I remember learning that ‘Columbus discovered America’. There was no discussion of genocide.

It wasn’t until I was a sophomore at West Point that I picked up Howard Zinn’s People’s History of the United States (and then Columbus’s own diaries) and started reading about the mass-extermination of entire tribes.

Columbus himself wrote about his first encounter with the extremely peaceful and welcoming Arawak Indians of the Bahama Islands:

“They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron… They would make fine servants… With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.”

And so he did.

“I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts.”

Columbus had already written back to his investors in Spain, Ferdinand and Isabella, that the Caribbean islands possessed “great mines of gold.”

It was all lies. Columbus was desperately attempting to justify their investment.

In Haiti, Columbus ordered the natives to bring him all of their gold. But there was hardly an ounce of gold anywhere on the island. So Columbus had them slaughtered. Within two years, 250,000 were dead.

Now, this letter isn’t intended to rail against Columbus. Point is, I never learned any of this information in school. Decades ago, no one really did.

But today, people are starting to be aware of what Columbus did. And our values are vastly different today than they were in 1937. Or in 1492.

Decades ago… and certainly hundreds of years ago… the idea of a ‘superior race’ still prevailed, endowed by their creator with the right to subjugate all inferior races.

This readily-accepted belief was the pretext of slavery and genocide.

Even as recently as the early 1900s, there were entire fields of ‘science’ devoted to studying the technical differences among various races and drawing data-driven conclusions about superiority.

Phrenologists, for example, would take precise measurements of people’s skulls– the circumference of the head, the ratio of forehead to eyebrow measurements, etc.– and deduce the intellectual capacity and character traits of entire races.

Jews could not be trusted. Blacks and Asians were inferior. These assertions were based on ‘scientific evidence’, even in nations like Sweden, the United Kingdom, and United States.

Today we’re obviously more advanced than our ancestors were. We know that their science was complete bullshit, and our values are totally different.

There are entire movements now (particularly among university students) to remove statues, rename buildings, and re-designate holidays.

Frankly this is a pretty slippery slope. If we judge everyone throughout history based on our values today, we’ll never stop tearing down monuments.

Even someone as forward-thinking as Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. And that’s a LOT of elementary schools to rename.

More importantly, there will come a time in the future when our own descendants judge us harshly for our short-sighted values.

Fortunately we no longer have faux-scientists today writing dissertations about racial superiority.

But we do have entire fields of ‘science’ that will truly bewilder future historians. Economics is one of them.

Our society awards some of its most distinguished prizes for intellectual achievement to economists who tell us that the path to prosperity is to print money, raise taxes, and go into debt.

Economists tell us that we can spend our way out of recession, borrow our way out of debt, and that there will never be any consequences from conjuring trillions of units of paper currency out of thin air.

They created a central banking system whereby an unelected committee of economists possesses nearly totalitarian control of the money supply… and hence the power to influence the price of EVERYTHING– food, fuel, housing, utilities, financial markets, etc.

Economists have managed to convince the world that inflation, i.e. rising prices, is actually a GOOD thing… and that prices quadrupling and quintupling during the average person’s lifespan is ‘normal’.

They’ve also succeeded in making policy-makers terrified of deflation (falling prices) even though just about any rational individual would naturally prefer falling (or at least stable) prices to rising prices.

Economists make the most ridiculous assertions, like “The debt doesn’t matter because we owe it to ourselves…” as if it’s perfectly acceptable for the US government to default on its citizens.

Or that the US economy is so strong because the American consumer spends so much money, i.e. consumption (and not production) drives prosperity.

The public believes all this nonsense because the ‘scientists’ say it’s true.

The scientists also come up with fuzzy mathematics to support their assertions. Last Friday, for example, the Labor Department reported that the US economy lost 33,000 jobs in September.

Yet miraculously the unemployment rate actually declined, i.e. fewer people are unemployed despite there being fewer jobs in the economy.

None of this makes any sense. Fewer jobs means lower unemployment. Spend more money. Print more money. Borrow more money. Debt is wealth. Consumption is prosperity.

All of this is based on ‘science’.

We may rightfully take umbrage with the values and ideas of our ancestors.

But it’s worth turning that mirror on ourselves and examining our own beliefs… for there will undoubtedly come a time when our own descendants wonder how we could have been so foolish.

As Americans Mourn Vegas, Schools Across US Will Be Forced To Celebrate a Mass Murderer Today

mass murderer

Just one week after the massacre that has been labeled the “deadliest shooting in modern U.S. History,” children in public schools across the country will be forced to celebrate the false achievements of a mass murderer—Happy Columbus Day!

Christopher Columbus is celebrated because he “sailed the ocean blue in 1492” and “discovered the new world,” but in addition to the fact that he didn’t actually discover anything, there is a very dark side of Columbus’ life that is not taught in school history books.

As Irish Central noted, when Columbus and his men explored the lands of present-day Dominican Republican and Haiti, they found an overwhelming abundance of gold, and Columbus’ lust for fame and fortune set into motion a relentless wave of murder, rape, pillaging, and slavery that would forever alter the course of human history.”

Advertisment

Catholic Priest Bartolomé de las Casas transcribed Columbus’ journals, and testified to the violence that was chronicled in them, noting that over 3 million people died of a result of the war and slavery championed by Christopher Columbus.

“There were 60,000 people living on this island, including the Indians; so that from 1494 to 1508, over 3,000,000 people had perished from war, slavery, and the mines,” de las Casas wrote. “Who in future generations will believe this? I myself writing it as a knowledgeable eyewitness can hardly believe it.”

Columbus appointed himself governor and viceroy over the Dominican Republic. As History.com reported, in order to silence any opposition from the citizens who lived in the area long before he arrived, Columbus “ordered a brutal crackdown in which many natives were killed,” and to deter further rebellion, he “ordered their dismembered bodies to be paraded through the streets.”

While many teachers and educators follow the textbook example and present Christopher Columbus as a white-washed hero who changed history by helping to discover the “New World,” the curriculum editor of Rethinking Schools was featured for taking a very different approach.

Bill Bigelow told SFGate that instead of celebrating Columbus, his curriculum puts Columbus, his crew, the King and Queen of Spain and the indigenous people on trial for murder, and then lets the students decide.

“It begins on the premise that there’s this monstrous crime in the years after 1492 when perhaps as many as 3 million or more Taínos on the island of Hispaniola lost their lives,” Bigelow said. “It asks students to wrestle with the responsibility in this.”

Anthea Hartig, executive director of the California Historical Society, told SFGate that part of the reason Columbus is still celebrated today is because “History has been traditionally taught in the hero style,” with a great man at the center of an event.

These men were exalted and meant to inspire,” Hartig said. “If you read a lot of juvenile literature you’ll notice this. But really, the revolutions Columbus launched weren’t the revolutions for which he’s celebrated. What he imposed on the islands was some of the most heinous genocide and labor forced on the world. By 1555 there were no more natives. Then they started to import slaves from Africa.”

As The Free Thought Project has reported, not only did Columbus have an effect on the indigenous people in the lands he set out to “conquer,” but the religious doctrine that “legalized” the native genocide he pioneered went on to become federal law in the United States.

This year, as Americans mourn a deadly shooting that killed 59 people and injured over 500, students in public schools are forced to celebrate a mass murderer who is responsible for initiating a brutal takeover that led to the slaughter of over 3 million innocent people, and went on to affect the lives of millions more for years to come.

Antifa Groups Plan Nationwide "Deface Columbus Day" Acts For Monday

Tomorrow"s Columbus Day celebrations could turn violent, as various "antifa" anarchist groups have announced a nationwide campaign to deface Christopher Columbus statues during Monday"s holiday.

According to PJ Media, at least five Christopher Columbus statues have already been vandalized in New York City in recent weeks, based on reports from Far Left Watch. In one case last month, vandals defaced a "larger-than-life" statue of Columbus in Central Park, leaving blood-red paint on his hands, and scrawled, "Hate will not be tolerated" and “#SomethingsComing” on its pedestal.

What is coming appears to be a coordinated campaign to destroy or deface monuments across the country on Columbus Day.  The NYC-based antifa group Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM) made the announcement on Thursday, September 21, calling on antifa groups nationwide to “decorate” their neighborhoods.

According to Far Left Watch, RAM is "an extremely militant group that advocates for the violent redistribution of property" and for "the abolition of gender."

The militant group recently hosted an "Our Enemies in Blue" anti-police workshop at its branch in Brooklyn, NY. RAM posted a video called "Against Columbus Day" on the antifa website It’s Going Down, showcasing destroyed monuments across the country and black-clad antifas pacing around menacingly to what appears to be 1980s German electropop.

"The battles lines have been drawn and white supremacists are on notice," the RAM group wrote in a statement on the website. "White nationalist statues are crumbling all over the US as our collective revolutionary power is growing."

While a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans support a holiday honoring Christopher Columbus, RAM called Columbus Day, October 9, "one of the most vile ‘holidays’ of the year." The group called on supporters "to take action against this day and in support of indigenous people in the US and abroad who have been victims of colonialism and genocide."

We are calling for groups to “decorate” their neighborhoods as they see fit: put up murals, wheatpaste posters, drop a banner, etc. On October 9th put a picture of your action on social media and use the hashtags below. With these actions multiplied around the country, we will make it unequivocally clear that revolutionaries will always stand with the indigenous!

Conveniently, the anarchist organization encouraged supporters to record and broadcast their crimes by using the hashtags #F*ckColumbusDay and #DestroyColonialism. By making it that much easier for the police to capture any potential lawbreakers tomorrow, we wonder how long before this "antifa" group is portrayed as yet another subversive infiltration organization used by Putin to sabotage and destroy the United States.

As far as the police is concerned, with antifa having given advance notice days in advance of its intended criminal acts, the arrests should be easy to make.

Now They’re Destroying Christopher Columbus Monuments

Now They’re Targeting Christopher Columbus Monuments

Vandals continued the targeting of historical monuments and statues in recent days – including one of Christopher Columbus.

“This is happening everywhere,” Kevin Caira, the president of the Sons of Italy’s Commission for Social Justice, told The Baltimore Sun.

Caira spoke after an unidentified person destroyed the lettering on a statue of Christopher Columbus in Baltimore’s Herring Run Park Monday.

Put God Back Into History And Teach Your Kids What They Won’t Learn Anywhere Else!

The person used a sledgehammer to smash letters that read: “Sacred to the memory of Chris. Columbus, Octob. XII, MDCCVIIIC” on the 225-year-old monument, The Sun reported. The destruction was recorded and posted on YouTube, although faces were hidden.

“Christopher Columbus symbolizes the initial invasion of European capitalism into the Western Hemisphere,” a male narrator said in the video. “Columbus initiated a centuries-old wave of terrorism, murder, rape, slavery, genocide, ecological degradation and capitalist exploitation of labor in the Americas.”

“Racist monuments to slave owners and murderers have always bothered me,” the narrator added, calling the monuments “hate-filled” and symbols of white supremacy.

He dismissed Columbus and George Washington as genocidal terrorists.

“Part of our evolution as humans requires tearing down monuments to destructive forces and tearing down systems that maintain them,” he said.

The statue is the oldest monument to Christopher Columbus in the United States.

Other Statues Under Attack

Other monuments defaced include:

  • The Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The National Park Service reported that someone sprayed the words “F**K law” on one of its columns on Aug. 16.

  • A 114-year-old Confederate memorial in Baltimore was covered with red paint on Aug. 14, The Sun reported.

  • A monument to Confederate troops at Arizona’s state capitol in Phoenix was vandalized on Aug. 17, CNN reported.

  • Columns were painted red at a private Confederate Memorial Park in Tampa on Aug. 13, CNN reported.

  • A peace monument that depicted a Confederate soldier was defaced in Georgia.

  • A bust of Lincoln was set on fire and defaced in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

  • Houston resident Andrew Cecil Schenk wanted to go even farther. He was caught trying to plant a bomb on a statue of a Confederate officer named Richard Dowling, NBC News

It looks as if no monument is safe in America.

“No, Stop! Please!”: Cop Empties Pistol into Car, Reloads as Teen Begs for Life, Opens Fire Again

shot

Columbus, AL – A graphic video, released as part of a report issued by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, shows officer Allan Brown firing eleven shots into the vehicle, after engaging in a high speed chase, pausing only to reload and fire another ten shots into the vehicle as the teens can be heard begging for their lives.

Christian Redwine, 17, was killed in the shooting, and passengers Hunter Tillis and Hanna Wuenschel, both 19 at the time, suffered nonfatal gunshot wounds. It was the first volley, of the 21 total bullets, that struck Redwine in the head and heart that ended his young life, according to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Brown claimed that Redwine tried to use the car to run him over, which caused him fear for his life, and prompted the fatal shots. An attorney representing Wuenschel said Redwine was trying only to back out of a hole. The attorney said Redwine was shot seven times, Wuenschel two or three times, and Tillis at least twice, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

Despite the clearly desperate pleas of mercy from the teens, as Brown unloaded two magazines into their vehicle, a Russell County grand jury found that Brown committed no criminal wrongdoing in the November 6 incident.

Brown can be seen on dashcam video trailing two other police cars also in pursuit of Christian Redwine after reports of a stolen vehicle in Columbus.

Brown can be heard telling the other officers to “let me come around you.”

He then narrates that speeds are approaching 100 miles per hour.

“Dispatch speeds are 98 mph.”

Only two minutes later, Brown again can be heard narrating the speed to dispatch as the Pontiac G-6 he is pursuing appears headed for the highway.

“Advise speed 107 miles an hour.”

As the teens attempt to take an exit at high speeds, Redwine loses control of the vehicle.

“We’re gonna be on Riverchase Road dispatch. He has wrecked out. Wrecked out. He is spinning. Start uh rescue,” Brown reports to dispatch.

With the wheels of the vehicle now spinning in reverse, Brown, who is now on foot, fires his weapon 11 times.

The passengers can be heard pleading for the officer to stop firing.

“No, stop! Please! I got shot!

Please! Please! ”

Brown, instead, paused only to reload his weapon and fire 10 more times.

“Oh my God I‘m shot! My God. Please no. Please! Please!”

By the time Brown had unloaded two magazines, Christian Redwine, 17, was dead, and the two others had both suffered gunshot wounds. In fact, later investigation would reveal that all three teens had been shot in the initial barrage of gunfire.

According to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, the incident began when:

Columbus police said Redwine aroused suspicion when officers saw the Pontiac cruising around closed businesses around 4:30 a.m. near Columbus State University’s main campus on University Avenue.

Checking the tag, they learned the car had been reported stolen by Fred Levins, a friend of Redwine’s grandmother who considered himself to be like a grandfather to the teen. Around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, Levins noticed it was missing along with his car keys.

When police tried to stop the car, Redwine sped away, initiating a chase that continued into downtown Columbus and crossed the 13th Street bridge into Alabama, where Phenix City police joined the pursuit.

A WLTZ First News investigation revealed Brown was fresh off a suspension for violating pursuit policy last year when this deadly incident took place.

The Russell County Grand Jury cleared Brown of any criminal wrongdoing just two weeks ago, and only days ago he submitted his resignation effective immediately.

According to the Ledger-Enquirer:

Russell County District Attorney Ken Davis said Brown waived his rights and volunteered to testify before the 18-member grand jury, which spent two days reviewing the evidence. Prosecutors did not recommend charges, but asked the grand jurors to determine whether the shooting was justified, Davis said.

Among other witnesses testifying were two more Columbus officers experienced in the department’s training and procedures, and an Alabama Bureau of Investigation agent who probed the shooting, Davis said.

In other words, they brought in a bunch of police apologist “experts” to justify and propagandize the jury into believing that unloading an entire magazine into a car full of teens, then pausing to reload and drop another ten shots as they beg for their lives, was justified.

Perhaps had this officer taken the same training as the Salt Lake City Police Department, which emphasizes de-escalation, and has resulted in them not killing anyone since 2015, these type of incidents would not be accepted and protected as “just doing my job.”

Disturbing Video Catches 3 Cops Jump an Unarmed Man in Gang-Style Beatdown

Columbus, OH — A video uploaded to Facebook Monday night is going viral now after showing three police officers brutally attack an unarmed man who was doing nothing but standing there.

The video uploaded by Mellena Jackson has over a half million views and is causing a firestorm of blowback. According to Jackson, the man was upstairs interviewing for a job when he was asked to come back later, but police intervened and things got violent.

“They said he was upstairs for an interview and they asked him if he could come back tomorrow and he started rolling his cigarettes up and the police asked him to leave. Maybe they could have felt threatened by the fact his hands were in his pocket and after watching the video I seen that he threw a cigarette after they assaulted him,” Jackson wrote on Facebook.

Jackson, who explained that her 6-year-old son wanted to be a police officer, noted that he saw this unfold as he walked out of the hospital.

“Can’t have that as his image of a police officer/ security guard because they aren’t all abusing their authority just like all ppl aren’t criminals,” she wrote.

As the video begins, you can see three cops surrounding the man who’s doing nothing but standing there with a hand in his pocket. When he takes a step forward, he is then pushed back by a police officer. Clearly feeling like he’s being oppressed, the man appears to flick a cigarette in the direction of the officers — that’s when all hell broke loose.

In the video, Jackson says she couldn’t believe what was going on as the cops then jumped the man in a gang-style fashion after senselessly spraying him in the face with mace.

When the video was published to her page, many people thought these men were simply security guards. However, the men in the video are OhioHealth Protective Service Officers — a recognized police force able to carry weapons and with arrest powers.

While the reason for the stop is not officially known at this time, one potential cause for the attack could be that the man had his hand in his pocket.

This type of reaction by police for someone having their hand in their pocket is not uncommon. All too often, people with their hands in their pockets cause police officers to “fear for their lives,” thus provoking reactions like the one in the video below.

While it is unclear as to what this man had done to warrant police action, in the video, we clearly see that he posed no threat to officers, yet he was still attacked.

On Tuesday, OhioHealth released the following statement:

“We are aware of the incident that happened at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center last night and began investigating the matter immediately.

The three security officers involved have been placed on a fact-finding suspension until the investigation is complete.

When a situation like this occurs we take it very seriously. We anticipate providing more information about the investigation later today.”

Below is the video Jackson posted online. It contained the following description:

Dude did not flinch at them and or make them feel threatened in no shape form nor fashion. Then flicked his cigarette at them which made it worse. This shit is getting ridiculous. Sad thing is my son seen this shit!!!! Then seen him laying there not moving… they left him there in the 30 degree weather on the cold concrete without getting him medical attention. Then one cop/security guard had his hand on his gun while talking shit to my father. I swear to God I am sick of this shit! Coward ass bitches with badges. From what I witnessed the police officers involved used excessive force which was not needed. With all that is going on with the police/security officers and citizens, this unfolding in front of my 6 year old is a hard pill to swallow. As you can see he was not violent and or did not pose as a threat! Why do they abuse their authority? When will this stop? Why do I have to explain to my son that all cops don’t use excessive force and explain to him why this man was hit repeatedly for no reason at all (He wants to be a police officer). This saddens me. We the people need answers! We fear the police who are supposed to protect and serve yet they talk to use all as if we are criminals and use their badge of law to harm and or kill us! #PoliceThePoliceTopFlightSecurityOfTheWorldCraig Maybe I’m wrong but this could have been handled another way.
