Horrifying Video Shows Cops Torture Innocent Man With Taser Until He Defecated Himself

taser

Knoxville, TN — Paul Edward Branch had just watched his apartment burn to the ground and, as he sat on the fire truck, shirtless, shoeless, and dazed, several Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies approached him. Within seconds, Branch went from contemplating replacing his belongings to being assaulted and tortured by men who claim they protect society.

Body camera footage from KCSO Deputy Paul Saah shows Branch’s nightmare unfold as he was shocked with 50,000 volts, repeatedly, in such a torturous and unnecessary manner that his bowels released. Ten times in just 64 seconds, the sadistic deputy fired his taser as his fellow deputies piled on top of the man.

As the footage shows, Branch was complying with every command given to him by the deputies. However, because he was moving slower than they liked, the situation quickly escalated.

A KNOX News review of court records and the video shows the following:

“Why are you soaking wet?” Saah asked Branch as Branch had his back turned to the deputy with his hands still behind his back. “Can you relax a little bit, dude?”

Advertisment

Saah struggled with one of the handcuffs and began saying, “Quit.” A second unidentified deputy pushed Branch’s head against the truck.

“You’re going to get (stunned) right now,” Saah said.

Saah then fired his Taser into Branch’s neck. Branch fell face down on the pavement. Saah then said, “Get your Taser out, Gomez.”

As the footage shows, Branch complied with the deputies as leaned up against the truck and sat there with his hands behind his back. However, seemingly unable to control his urge to inflict senseless pain and suffering, Saah told Deputy Christian L. Gomez to “shoot him,” so he fired his taser at the man as well.

READ MORE:  “Um, we’re, um, I, you know, it, uh," Missouri Governor Explains Who"s In Charge in Ferguson

Reeling from the agony of the repeated taser shocks, Branch began clutching his chest instead of complying with orders to get his hands behind his back. As he writhed in agony on the pavement, Gomez and Saah continued firing their tasers.

After Branch appears to go into some sort of seizure state, the taser is deployed once more before Saah says, “Kill it,” indicating that they should stop tasing him.

Clearly dazed and confused from being repeatedly shocked by the tasers, Branch’s body locked up. After they had tasered him ten times in a minute, four deputies then piled on top of the man to handcuff him.

“He’s strong as an ox,” Saah said as the deputies put him in handcuffs.

As Knox News reports, Branch was arrested, charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. The language in the two warrants is identical. Saah’s basis for the public intoxication charge was Branch’s speech “was rapid” and his answers to Saah’s questions were “incoherent.” The charges are pending.

Remember as you watch the video below that Branch had committed no crime when police approached him. He was simply sitting there, barefoot and shirtless watching his apartment smolder—innocent.

As the Sentinel reports, KCSO’s policy treats stun gun usage much the same as the use of deadly force in that a deputy’s decision to deploy a Taser must be “objectively reasonable” under the circumstances. KCSO specifically limits Taser use to situations in which a deputy is in a “physical confrontation” with a suspect or is trying to protect either another deputy or another person who is in a “physical confrontation” with a suspect. It bars deputies from deploying a Taser as “punishment.”

READ MORE:  St Louis Police Threaten to Quit or Slowdown If Civilian Oversight Passes

Clearly, these deputies violated that policy.

Branch is now suing the KCSO for $3 million. Rest assured, that the taxpayers will be held accountable and not the deputies.

Neither Gomez nor Saah was fired and both of them remain on regular duty. The department launched an internal investigation, however, the results of that investigation and what action, if any, was taken to discipline the officers is unknown.

“The excessive force used against Mr. Branch including the electrical impulses from the Tasers caused (Branch) confusion as to where he was for the next several days, and the Taser weapons caused him to defecate and urinate himself, which caused (Branch) severe psychological harm,” the lawsuit stated.

Below is what it looks like when an innocent man crosses paths with the wrong cops.

Cowardly Cop Fears for His Life, Tasers 81-Year-Old Grandma with Dementia

taser

Greene County, TN — Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins is standing up for his deputy this week—noting that he supports his deputy’s decision to deploy his taser on an 81-year-old woman on Sunday. Apparently, 81-year-old women with dementia holding gardening tools are now cause for cops to fear for their lives.

The family of Beunos Erwin has now hired an attorney after police showed up to their home responding to a 911 call for help and ended up tasering the very old woman in the street.

The sheriff said he supports his deputy’s decision because the officer was forced to think fast and only had 14 seconds to decide what to do. According to Hankins, the deputy’s only options were to kill the woman or take a chance risking his life. Naturally, bravery was out of the question—apparently, so was walking backward.

As WJHL reports:

Advertisment

Some Sheriff’s Office reports we obtained claim she suffers from dementia and often sees things that aren’t there.

On Sunday, September 24, Greene County deputies responded to a home on Wilkerson Road in Mosheim.

Erwin’s son called 9-1-1 telling dispatchers his mother was being combative.

According to an incident report, Erwin was using a broom to beat on cars and was yelling.

That report, says she has dementia and says she often sees things that aren’t there.

According to reports, there have been more than 40 calls for help from Erwin’s home in just the last year. By all measures, police were familiar with the elderly woman. However, the deputy who responded was apparently unfamiliar with showing any type of courage in the face of the very tiny amount of danger—if it can even be referred to as such—presented by an 81-year-old woman holding a rake.

READ MORE:  WATCH: Massive Cop Body Slams 80-lb 7th-Grader at the Bus Stop

Many of the calls to 911 from Erwin’s home were actually made by her. Her dementia often caused her to see people on her property who were not actually there. However, when the deputy came this time, she could see him and so she demanded he leave her property.

According to the report:

This past Sunday, deputies left the scene but were called back about 40 minutes later.

The report says when they arrived back on scene they saw Erwin had a garden rake in her hands.

Sheriff Hankins said Erwin had already knocked out several windows with the rake when they arrived.

According to the deputy, Erwin started walking toward him saying “get off my land.” However, the deputy claims he was 50 feet from her, in the road, not on her land.

Clearly in a mentally diminished state, however, Erwin began walking toward the deputy holding the rake. To justify deploying the taser—which could’ve easily killed the 81-year-old—the deputy said she was holding the rake in a “threatening manner.”

Instead of backing up, walking away, grabbing the rake, or doing anything that required even the smallest amount of bravery, the cop made sure he wouldn’t have to risk a single little hair on his body and deployed his taser.

Erwin was 10-12 feet away when this deputy felt the need to take her out—because he thought an attack was imminent—from an 81-year-old grandma with a garden tool.

When the taser hit her, she fell to the ground. Only then did the officer move in to place her in handcuffs.

According to WJHL, EMS took her to the hospital for evaluation. The report indicates charges are pending.

Every day, in assisted living facilities across the country, elderly men and women with dementia lash out at what they perceive as a threat. And, every day, unarmed health care workers calm them down without having to taser them.

A police officer deploying a taser on a harmless 81-year-old woman illustrates the ominous training of police departments today. Do not be brave, do not risk injury, swiftly and immediately escalate force to avoid having to employ any heroic action to help an 81-year-old woman with dementia—god forbid you take a tiny risk to remove a rake from an elderly woman.

After all, when your only tool is a hammer—everything starts looking like a nail.

Non-Lethal? Police Tasers Have Killed Over 1,000—Many of Whom Were Mentally Ill

tasers

When a police shooting occurs, people often argue that the officer involved should have used a taser as a less lethal option—but some of the main points that are rarely discussed are how often police misuse tasers, and how many victims die as a result.

An investigation conducted by Reuters revealed that more than 1,000 people have died as victims of police tasers since 2000. Not only did the investigation find that tasers have a lethal power that is not being recognized by the company that manufactures the weapons, or by the departments that issue them, it also discovered that many of the victims are suffering from mental health problems.

“In the most detailed study ever of fatalities and litigation involving police use of stun guns, Reuters finds more than 150 autopsy reports citing Tasers as a cause or contributor to deaths across America. Behind the fatalities is a sobering reality: Many who die are among society’s vulnerable—unarmed, in psychological distress and seeking help.”

In one example, police in Ontario, California, were called to address a disturbance at a home involving an unarmed man with mental health issues. Three officers arrived, and instead of taking the 57-year-old man to the hospital, as his wife requested, a veteran officer hit the man with a taser twice—once directly to the chest—and the man died as a result. Reuters noted that this is not an isolated incident.

Advertisment

Ken Wallentine, former chief of law enforcement for the Utah Attorney General, told Reuters that “cops have been turned into mental health workers on the street,” and he fears that “some police training and some police practices have allowed the crowding out of persuasion and the Taser has become the default tool.”

According to the American Psychiatric Association, 1 in every 100 police calls involves a person with a mental health disorder, and as the investigation found, police officers often do not have the proper training to calm the situation, so they resort to using a taser on the subject, which can have detrimental, or even fatal consequences.

READ MORE:  Cop On Cop Brutality Costs California Taxpayers Two Million Dollars

Peter Eisler, one of the reporters conducting the investigation, told PBS NewsHour that his team was surprised to find that there were more deaths from police tasers, there was more litigation surrounding the incidents, and there was a more significant financial burden on the public than they had expected.

“The weapons themselves are not regulated, not as they’re sold to police,” Eisler said. “You know, they’re not a medical device. They’re not regulated by the FDA. They’re not a consumer product, so they’re not regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. So, Taser itself has done a lot of the—did a lot of the early testing on these devices, and one of the things that we found was that those tests were not necessarily as thorough or as solid as taser may have led police to believe.”

Eisler noted that as time went on and more research was conducted, it was discovered that the taser has the ability “to change the rhythm of the heart in a way that could lead to a fatal cardiac arrest.”

“Taser says that these weapons have been studied and that they’re overwhelmingly safe. Taser’s position is that the risks to the heart are more theoretical. The company does not concede that there has ever been a death direct — a cardiac-related death directly attributable to a taser. What we did was we looked at as many autopsy reports as we could collect on the 1,000-plus cases we identified, and we ended up getting around 750 autopsies. And we found that in at least 150-plus of those autopsies, the medical examiner, the coroner, attributed the death either in whole or in part to the taser, or listed the taser as a contributing factor to that death.”

As this investigation reveals that police are killing an alarming number of people with tasers and that many of those victims suffer from mental health issues, it serves as a reminder that there needs to be an overhaul in the way police are trained to deal with the citizens they claim to serve—especially those citizens who have mental health disorders and are often targeted and abused by the law enforcement officers they are taught to trust.

WATCH: Cop Maces & Tasers Unconscious Man in His Face as He Has a Stroke—Taxpayers Held Liable

stroke

Fredericksburg, VA — The taxpayers of Fredericksburg will shell out an unknown amount of money this week in a settlement for one of the most gruesomely excessive force claims ever caught on camera. As an innocent man lay unconscious during a stroke, he was pepper sprayed, tasered in his face, and held without medical care causing him to suffer permanent damage—all thanks to untrained cops needlessly escalating violence.

In March of 2016, attorneys for the victim, David Washington, filed a suit against the city claiming excessive force was used against their client in an incident 10 months prior. The incident was a simple traffic accident.

The lawsuit requested $5 million and alleged excessive force, denial of medical care, battery and other wrongdoing by the officers, according to The Free Lance–Star.

“Police misconduct cases, they’re difficult to win,” Alexandria attorney Donald Rosendorf, who helped represent Washington said. “I think we were satisfied, and the client was satisfied, with the settlement.”

Advertisment

On May 4th, 2015, Washington was driving his car down Route 1 near the University of Mary Washington when he experienced a medical emergency. He was having a stroke which caused him to black out, hit a jeep, and cross over the median striking a road sign.

The driver of the jeep called 9-1-1 to report the crash and Officers Matt Deschenes and Crystal Hill arrived on the scene followed by officer Shaun Jergens. Body cam footage shows the officers cared not about the man in obvious medical distress.

As the Free Lance-Star reports:

The suit claimed Deschenes and Hill held Washington at gunpoint for several minutes as he sat unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his stopped car. The officers asked him to show his hands and exit the car, but Washington could not do so because he had suffered from a stroke while driving.

According to the lawsuit, Jurgens arrived several minutes later and fired a Taser at Washington with no verbal warning, striking him in the face. Deschenes then holstered his firearm and opened the driver’s side door of Washington’s car, “further confirming” the suspect had no weapons.

The body cam confirms that as Jergens approached the car, the distressed and unresponsive Washington was blasted with pepper-spray and tasered.

“Get out the car or I’m going to fucking smoke you,” says Jergens after assaulting Washington.

Jergens then dragged the sick man out of his car and continued his assault by laying him on the hot asphalt. As if being pepper-sprayed, tasered, thrown on the ground and handcuffed after having a stroke wasn’t enough, police allowed the car to roll on top of Washington’s foot.

Washington was then taken to the hospital to be treated for his assault and doctors discovered that he had in fact been experiencing a stroke.

According to the lawsuit, because police waited so long to bring Washington to the hospital and because of the “unreasonable use of force” this contributed to his condition, which is expected to be permanent. According to the suit, Washington cannot stand without assistance and his speech is now impaired.

After reviewing the incident in accordance with department policy, Command Staff determined at the time that the force used by the officers involved in the incident was “not appropriate,” according to WJLA.

“The use of force demonstrated in the incident involving Mr. Washington was not in compliance with department policy or training,” said Captain Rick Pennock in a news release. “We take matters such as these very seriously and require that officers at all times exercise appropriate restraint and good judgment in their dealings with citizens.”

Jurgens resigned from the department on May 14 only to turn around and get hired as a Spotsylvania County sheriff’s deputy. Jurgens then sued the department for defamation because the chief called the officer’s actions of pepper-spraying and tasering a stroke victim in the face ‘inappropriate.’

No charges were ever filed against Jergens for his abuse. None of the officers involved faced charges for failing to stop this assault either. However, Washington was charged with hit-and-run, hit-and-run (property damage), reckless driving, and driving on a revoked or suspended license. Is this justice?

Below is the graphic body camera footage showing the unnecessary excessive force by these officers. Notice how he is in such bad shape that he is unresponsive to being tasered in the face and barely moves as the officer empties a can of pepper spray into his face.

Graphic Video Shows Cops Hold Down Handcuffed Teen, Torture Him With Taser—For Sleeping in Truck

Cherokee County, GA — The family of a teenager who was viciously assaulted for sleeping in his truck has filed a formal complaint against the Cherokee County Police Department after a disturbing video shows their handcuffed son being tortured by police with a taser.

“Please, please, I can’t breathe,” screamed Daniel Fruhling as Cherokee County Police Officers knelt on his back and repeatedly tasered him while he was face down and handcuffed.

Fruhling, 19, was found asleep in his pickup truck at 8 a.m. on August 1 by a woman who tried to wake him up. After being unsuccessful in her attempt to wake the teen, the woman called 911 for medical help. Instead of medical help, however, Fruhling quickly found himself on the receiving end of baton blows and 50,000-volt taser strikes.

“When the video first starts, the first thing you hear is the sound of taser…you’ve got a small young kid face down on the ground with handcuffs on his back with two Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies on his back…and you hear, ‘Please, please, I can’t breathe,’” attorney Kyle Koester described to CBS46 while watching the video.

While the video doesn’t capture the first part of the interaction, according to the police report — if we are to trust it — Fruhling would not get out of his truck, most likely because he was still passed out.

Advertisment

In an effort to get the teen out of the truck, police say they resorted to baton blows and a taser. Police said this force was necessary on the nonviolent barely conscious teen, according to the report, because there was a possibility he could’ve put the truck in gear.

READ MORE:  America Losing Humanity? Woman Watches 3 People Get Run Over, Keeps Eating Pizza

Instead of simply reaching into the cab as Fruhling slept and removing the keys from the ignition, police decided to take advantage of a seemingly inebriated kid.

After they beat him into submission with batons and a taser and had him in handcuffs, this is where the video picks up. Fruhling is face down in the gravel — with his hands handcuffed behind his back — and police continue to deploy their taser in spite of Fruhling clearly pleading for his life.

Conveniently absent from the police report, however, was any mention of the taser strikes while Fruhling was on the ground in handcuffs. After all, why would police officers make any record of torturing a teen with a taser who was handcuffed with multiple officers on top of him?

“When you hear a child scream for help and all they continue to do is hurt him, it is very gut wrenching,” contended Jeanette McDonald, the boy’s mother.

While the family’s attorney chose to keep details of why the teen was sleeping confidential, he did give the following statement.

“This opioid epidemic is not something we can jail our way out of…there was no care or concern at all for his medical needs. It was purely an effort of law enforcement to make sure that they made and effectuated an arrest,” Koester asserted.

Even if this young man was high on opioids, the fact that he had enough common sense to pull over and not endanger any other lives on the road should be commended, not met with police violence. However, that is what he got.

Fruhling was charged with DUI, obstruction and public drunkenness.

CBS46 News

“I don’t understand how someone can call for medical help and how it can go to that,” McDonald argued.

Sadly, however, this seems to be a standard police practice.

As TFTP reported last month, Jordan Norris, another teen, allegedly involved in drugs, was in need of mental health help and instead got tortured by cops with tasers.

After Norris was arrested, he had somewhat of a mental breakdown and began banging his head against the cell door. So, police dragged him out of his cell and strapped him in a restraint chair.

In the extremely disturbing video, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Deputies are seen holding Norris down with a gag while another deputy sadistically and repeatedly deploys the taser. Naturally, Norris squirmed as 50,000 volts ran through his body. His movement seemed to provoke the deputies who responded with more taser strikes.

At one part in the video, you can hear a deputy tell Norris, “I’ll keep doing that until I run out of batteries.”

Norris said he remembered deputies asking him, “Do you want me to do it again? We got a whole bunch of batteries we can drain into you pretty much. We will do it over and over until we have no more.”

In the land of the free, torture by cop is becoming so rampant that there is no shortage of videos of it. Worrisome indeed.

Terrifying Video Shows Cops Put Teen in a Restraint Chair, Torture Him with a Taser

Ashland City, TN — A horrifying video was just released as part of a lawsuit on behalf of an 18-year-old man who was tasered over and over again while strapped in a restraining chair. The video looks like something out of horror movie.

The nightmare for Jordan Norris began last year, in November, when a SWAT team raided his home because he was allegedly selling drugs. Selling willing people a substance they want to voluntarily ingest, however, in no way justified the treatment Norris would receive.

When Norris was released from prison, he was covered in burn marks from the taser. Somehow he made it through the torture without his heart stopping.

Willian Chapman, Norris’ stepfather, said he gave the police the benefit of the doubt when he saw his stepson’s wounds. He thought Norris must’ve been resisting in some way. However, once they saw the video, it was entirely clear that Norris was in no way resisting — as he was buckled down in a restraint chair.

“I said, ‘Jordan what is that?’ It looked like he had the measles. And he said, ‘That’s where they tased me.’ I could not wrap my head around that,” William Chapman said.

Chapman told News Channel 5 that he counted more than forty burns.

“I was actually giving the police benefit of the doubt over my own child because I was thinking he must have been fighting back, he must have been resisting,” Chapman said.

He was not.

“When I found that he was actually strapped to a restraint chair, it was even more mind boggling. It didn’t make any sense,” Chapman said.

When you watch the video below, you will likely agree with Chapman. What the deputies were doing to Norris with the taser did not make any sense at all. Why on earth would they choose to torture this young man repeatedly with a taser?

Thanks to a post on the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page, we now have a possible answer to that question. The sheriff had a personal vendetta against Norris and took to publicly taunting him.

In the Facebook post, the sheriff called Norris “a drug dealer by trade and on the fast track to live the thug Life.” The sheriff even noted that Norris “peed a little bit,” while being handled by SWAT.

Sheriff Mike Breedlove even stood by his Facebook comments, claiming that they normally make humorous posts after busting people for selling substances deemed illegal by the state.

After he refused to back down for taunting Norris, the sheriff went on to justify the sadistic actions of his deputies by stating that it was necessary. He said his deputies had to taser Norris over 40 times because he kept flinching.

VIDEO: Cops Taser Innocent Unarmed Man in the Back for Saying, “I Know My Rights”

Aurora, CO — An innocent man settled a lawsuit this week for $110,000 after cops were seen on video deploying a taser in his back as he stood there with his hands up.

The incident happened in February 2016, when the victim, Darsean Kelley, and his cousin were stopped by police. Officers were in the area responding to a weapons incident at a nearby apartment building and Kelley happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Police had no description of the suspect and decided to harass Kelley and his cousin.

Kelley was naturally upset that he’d been targeted by police for no reason, so he was verbally expressing it. He never once physically resisted, however.

As the incident begins, police tell the two men to put their hands in the air. Both of them comply. Then the officer yells for them to interlock their fingers on top of their heads. At this point, Kelley continues to ask why he is being detained.

Advertisment

The cops answer back by refusing to tell him why. Just as Kelley says, “I know my rights,” the taser is deployed into his back and he falls to the ground. Naturally, after police assaulted him for no reason, Kelley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct — for asking a question and being tasered in the back. After spending three days in jail, he was bonded out.

The ACLU picked up his case and convinced the city to drop the charges against him.

“The body camera footage was indispensable in securing justice for Darsean Kelley,” John M. Krieger, a spokesman with the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado, told Ars Technica. “Without irrefutable evidence of police misconduct captured on video, it would have been our client’s word against multiple officers, and the truth about what happened to Darsean would almost certainly have never come to light.”

READ MORE:  Cop Fired for Threatening to Kill a Man for Helping Someone File a Police Complaint

Predictably, the Aurora police department responded to the incident by exonerating all officers involved and wholeheartedly justifying the use of a taser in the back of an unarmed man with his hands up. In October, the department released its findings.

The IRB agreed unanimously with the findings of the Force Review Board that the use of force in this instance was reasonable, appropriate and within policy.

The IRB does not believe there is anything in this incident that warrants additional awareness, action or investigation.

Chief Metz has accepted the findings of the IRB and considers the matter closed at this time.

“The ACLU commends the City of Aurora for its willingness to come to the table in good faith to find a resolution that is fair to Mr. Kelley and beneficial for taxpayers of the city,” ACLU of Colorado Legal Director Mark Silverstein said in a statement. “However, the decision of the Aurora City Attorney’s Office to fairly and promptly resolve this matter stands in stark contrast to the actions of the Aurora Police Department, which at every turn has refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing or need for policy change even in the face of public outrage and irrefutable video evidence of misconduct.”

However, the City Attorney does not agree with the ACLU and noted it. Aurora City Attorney Mike Hyman said in a statement that the city settled so it wouldn’t have to spend even more taxpayer money defending a lawsuit, reports Ars Technica.

“We disagree with the ACLU’s characterization of the events in this case and their unwarranted attack against the Aurora Police Department,” Hyman said Thursday. “This case was settled for the reason that many cases are settled—to avoid the cost of prolonged litigation. That cost would have far exceeded the value of the settlement.”

WATCH: Unarmed Man Tasered Repeatedly by Cops Until He Dies

taser

San Diego, CA — Mark Roshawn Adkins, 54, of Lemon Grove died last week, hours after a confrontation with San Diego police officers in which he was tasered repeatedly. Cellphone footage captured Adkins last moments alive.

According to police, deputies were responding to several calls of a man jumping fences in backyards and attempting to gain entry into townhomes. When police arrived on the scene, they found Adkins in a common patio area and demanded he get on the ground.

According to police Adkins refused to comply. The department issued a statement on what happened next.

“Both deputies deployed their Department issued Tasers, striking the suspect. The suspect went to the ground but continued to ignore commands to comply and attempted to stand again. A second round of Taser was deployed with the same minimal effect.”

“On your stomach. I will zap you again,” one deputy said in the video.

As NBC 7 reports, Paul Brown, a resident who recorded the incident on his cell phone, told NBC 7 Monday that he and his wife heard the commotion and he came outside to see what was going on.

“We were in the bedroom and at first I thought it was the TV and she said ‘No, that’s not the TV.’ So I looked out the window and I saw the sheriff’s and so I said ‘Let me get my phone and go and see what’s going on."” Brown said.

Brown reported hearing the tasers deploy at least three times. After police put Adkins in handcuffs, the paramedics were called.

“He seemed like he was okay,” Brown added. “He was still moving.”

However, despite moving once in the handcuffs, Adkins became entirely unresponsive shortly after. Two hours later he was dead.

The incident is now under a use of force investigation. The cause of death has yet to be released. However, after watching the video, one can come to their own conclusions.

“The results of the autopsy have not been completed and are pending toxicology results,” Lt. Kenneth Nelson said in a written news release.

To add further controversy to Adkins death, his wife Collette said he wasn’t the man police were looking for. He had no reason to jump the fences because he lived in the neighborhood.

“I don’t think so. That’s a lie,” said Mark’s widow Collette Adkins. “There’s no reason for him to get into anybody’s home. He got killed right on his own street.”

Collette has had to check herself into Scripps Mercy Hospital because of the stress building up after watching her husband die on national television after being tasered by cops.

“To watch your TV and see your husband get killed on nationwide TV by a Taser I can’t take it,” she said. “It’s too much for me.”

According to NBC 7, the 54-year-old, unemployed father attended Lincoln High. Friends say he had his struggles. He was also dealing with mental health issues, according to family members.

“If a person is in a state of mind where they can’t comply, for [deputies] to electrocute them is not the answer,” said Collette, who now vows her husband’s death will not be in vain.

“I’m also praying for justice to be served in this case,” she said.

Sadly, police officers tasering people to death is not an isolated incident. Also, when their actions do result in the death of another human, they are rarely held accountable.

On November 20th, 2015, sheriff deputies in Coweta County, Georgia were summoned to help subdue a man having a psychotic breakdown. Instead of helping him, they tasered him to death. In October 2016, the Coweta district attorney’s office announced their decision to not press charges against the officers responsible.

The death of 32-year-old Chase Sherman was captured on video, yet neither of the cops was charged.

On February 3rd, 2015, Natasha McKenna, 37, was shocked four times with 50,000 volts while her hands were cuffed behind her back, her legs in shackles, and wearing a mesh mask.

The multiple electric shocks stopped her heart and her breathing. She was taken to Fairfax hospital, however, it was too late. McKenna was declared brain dead and removed from life support several days later.

None of the officers involved in McKenna’s death were charged.

On March 3rd, 2015, Ruth Temple called out Oklahoma police officers after her boyfriend started acting strangely. That 9-1-1 Call would eventually lead to Temple’s boyfriend, Darrell Gatewood’s death.

A clearly mentally distraught Gatewood was then dragged into the street and pepper sprayed and tasered until he died.

Sadly, Mark Adkins now becomes a name on this ever-increasing list.

Good Cop Leaks Video of Fellow Cop Torturing Handcuffed Man with a Taser — Guess Who’s in Trouble

Balch Springs, TX — Coming just weeks after Balch Springs Police Officer Roy Oliver killed 15-year-old Jordan Edwards, was fired, and later arrested and charged with murder, another scandal has rocked the department. This time, it is torture with a taser.

Body camera footage was mailed to Fox4 News showing a Black man being tased while handcuffed. Thirty-nine-year-old Marco Stephenson was compliant, not resisting at all, and in handcuffs when the torture began.

The leaked body camera footage shows Stephenson with his hands raised above his head as officers approach. Balch Springs PD responded to a 911 call of a man brandishing a weapon.

Stephenson admitted he had a BB gun but denied threatening anyone with it. According to our experts in gang activities, criminals use BB and pellet guns to keep enemies at bay who are unaware the toys are not real.

Stephenson was handcuffed and told he was under arrest for threatening the community who’d called 911 to report him. He denied committing any crime but was, by all accounts, compliant with all officer commands.

He spit his toothpick into the grass which seemed to have set off the cops. He got a little mouthy with one of the officers (inaudible) and was immediately tased.

“Don’t pull away! You understand? You understand?” an unidentified sergeant on the video said as he was tasing Stephenson. “Don’t pull away! You get it?! You get it?! Because I ain’t playing with you today! Do you understand?!”

“Yes sir,” answered Stephenson as he again complied with officer commands. Yet the cop kept tasering him — even after he fell to the ground.

The incident apparently raised the eyebrows of fellow officers who promptly reported the incident to the sergeant’s superiors.

According to the Chief of Police for Balch Springs, the incident was reviewed by three different entities; Texas Rangers, Professional Standards and the Dallas County DA’s Public Integrity Unit.

Chief Jonathon Haber said, “We decided together that this was an administrative issue, not a criminal issue.” And since Stephenson didn’t file a complaint, no charges were brought against the officer.

While the department has a vocal supporter on their side, Reverend Ronald Wright, others apparently aren’t happy with the conclusions reached in the internal investigation and they are the ones who leaked the video to the press.

Wright said, “There was some things that were done that could have been kept quiet. But there was some officers that set an example of what all police departments should do.”

Now the chief is looking to see who leaked the video, seemingly more concerned about the Balch Springs PD’s image than with arresting another member of his police force.

Haber described Stephenson’s lengthy criminal record to reporters, citing the number of times he’d been arrested and processed in the jail system. But the video, coupled with the latest killing of an unarmed innocent child, leave more questions than answers.

Why did the department choose to keep someone on its force who’d tased a handcuffed compliant man? Why after whistleblowers turned him in was he not fired? And how and why did three law enforcement agencies arrive at the conclusion no crime had been committed?

It seems Haber is more interested in finding out who leaked the video to the press and firing that person than he is concerned with protecting the civil rights and liberties of Mr. Stephenson and others like him.

According to Chief Haber, the sergeant in question was reprimanded and put on “no contact with the public” until he completed courses in conflict resolution, anti-bias, and how to respond to mental health calls. All in all, he got away with tasing a handcuffed man without losing one day’s pay.

Something has to change with modern policing methods when officers are not charged for doing things to handcuffed suspects that the public cannot do to each other. Many consider it to be an example of a double standard at work for law enforcement. What would have happened had the taser killed Stephenson? Remember Graham Dyer and Gregory Towns? They weren’t as lucky as Stephenson.

Cop Faces 7 Years After Video Shows Him Smash a Man’s Head In With a Taser

taser

Rockville Centre, RI — A Rockville Centre police officer is on trial for a May 2016 beating he gave to two brothers. The beating was captured on video and was bad enough to warrant an investigation and subsequent charges.

The incident began on the evening of the 8th, at a bar near South Park Avenue. Officer Anthony Federico arrived on the scene to investigate reports of a fight taking place. When he approached brothers Kevin and Brendan Kavanagh, the officer engaged the two.

The discussion quickly turned violent as Federico attempted to arrest both men — or no reason. He tasered Brendan, and Kevin can be seen taking a swipe at Federico. The officer’s actions may have been justified up until that point, and probably would have been justified in taking Kevin down as well, but he made a costly mistake. Instead of punching Kevin with his fists, he chose to punch him with the blunt edge of his taser, an action for which prosecutors have criminally charged him.

With the trial underway, evidence is being presented on both sides. Attorneys for Federico contend their officer was dealing with a cocaine-fueled, alcohol enraged citizen, who was being aggressive with the officer. The prosecution contended Federico had no business beating Kevin with the taser, an action likened more to police brutality than modern-day policing techniques.

Dennis Ring, Kevin’s attorney, said in response to the toxicology report indicating the presence of contained and alcohol in his system, “suggesting that a victim’s impairment justified a violent assault by an officer,” is a desperate measure in an attempt to undermine his client’s integrity.

The video is quite graphic and begins with Federico confronting Brendan. He starts to take him down but then deploys his taser. As he screams in pain from the shock, Kevin steps in to help his brother, and some might say justifiably so because there did not seem to be any real reason to arrest him. The charges against the two brothers were dismissed by prosecutors who also felt they did not have a case against the siblings.

Federico then turns his attention to Kevin and that’s when prosecutors say he crossed the line from attempting a justified arrest to committing a felony. The officer took his taser and began to punch Kevin in the face with it. He then deployed his taser onto him as well. The whole altercation lasted only a few minutes but the video has proven very useful for prosecutors in court who’ve charged Federico with felony assault. The Rockville Centre officer pleaded not guilty in March and his trial is underway.

Federico has received a huge show of support from fellow officers who see his actions as justified. His lawyer, William Petrillo, addressed reporters outside the courthouse and said he’s confident his client “will be exonerated in the end.”

Petrillo continued, saying, “it is an indictment on all police and all police should be concerned.” He said the decision to indict his client is likened to being a “Monday morning quarterback” and said if his client is found guilty, the unfortunate result will be that other officers in all jurisdictions will likely “hesitate” when faced with a similar situation where they’re the only sober individual in the group.

School Cops Lose Jobs for Tasering School Employee While Playing Around

Lake County, FL — In a testament to the sheer lack of oversight and accountability of police officers, two of the most apparently incompetent Florida cops were allowed to patrol a school with nearly two thousand children. The cops would frequently be seen ‘playing around’ with their tasers. However, all that would come to a halt when Master Deputy Raymond Mattiucci accidentally shot a Leesburg High School employee with a taser, knocking him unconscious and leaving him with a broken wrist.

After Mattiucci’s dangerous and irresponsible mistake, he and Deputy Darrell Blanton then conspired to cover it all up — leaving the victim, Jerome Scott, and a witness, Pamela Nash, fearing for their safety.

“These deputies failed to immediately report a serious incident to their supervisor and then compounded the issue by being less than truthful,” Lake Sheriff Peyton Grinnell wrote in an email. “As law enforcement officers, we are held to the highest of standards and that type of conduct should not and will not be tolerated.”

As the Orlando Sentinel reports:

Mattiucci and Blanton had a history of playing around with their tasers on school property, once pretending to tase the security monitor and pointing it “lights flashing” at the face of Leesburg High employee Pamela Nash, according to interviews with sheriff’s investigators.

The deputies kept tabs on Scott and Nash, who witnessed the incident, through text messages and face-to-face inquiries during the following week, the report said.

Nash was alone with Mattiucci and Scott in her classroom when she heard a “pop” sound and saw Scott reaching for the countertop and falling face first on the floor, the report said.

After Scott fell to the ground, it would be 15 minutes before he could even speak. He also suffered a broken wrist.

After he accidentally tasered the innocent man, Mattiucci radioed for Blanton who quickly came to his aid and helped to cover it up. Blanton then called dispatch and told them a school employee “fell.”

Mattiucci reportedly convinced Scott and Nash to keep quiet and promised to pay for Scott’s insurance deductible for his broken wrist. However, that never happened.

When Scott asked Mattiucci for the money, Mattiucci began avoiding him. Weeks later, Blanton, in a seeming act of intimidation, approached Nash, asking her, “Did you tell?” according to investigators. Then, Mattiucci texted Scott that same day in a similar manner saying, “What’s the word … Our Corp is about poking his nose around.”

After this intimidation, both high school employees became fearful of coming forward, obviously scared of what these two cops could do to them. During the investigation, it was also revealed that Mattiucci and Blanton were keeping tabs on Scott and Nash — indicating that they had every reason to be wary.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, these sadistic cops even had the nerve to keep pretending that they were going to taser Scott. Nash lost sleep over the ordeal and Scott once before told the two deputies not to playfully enact using the taser on him, but Blanton said that even though he could tell Scott was scared, he thought it was funny, the report said.

However, after living in fear long enough, Nash finally came forward and reported the two deputies. During the investigation, both officers were placed on paid leave and were accused of two violations —  “departure from the truth” and conduct unbecoming of an officer.

Before he could be held accountable for his actions, Mattiucci was allowed to resign on March 8. However, Blanton, apparently thinking he was going to get away with it, stayed around and was then fired on March 15.

For tasering an innocent man, endangering his life, causing injury, and then employing intimidation and conspiring to cover it up — neither of these two cops was charged with a crime.

Residents Outraged After Video Shows Cops Taser a Family’s Dog

Roseville, MI — For months, The Free Thought Project has brought international attention to a very serious problem of police on canine violence. With recent court rulings allowing police to kill citizens’ pets, simply for barking too loudly, law enforcement agencies now have no fear of retaliation for taking the life of man’s best friend. So this next story from Roseville, about a police involved incident dealing with a citizen’s pet, gets a pass, sort of.

On Sunday, a pit bull named Chewy’s owners called police after he escaped their backyard. Patiently, the police pursued the elusive dog for 90 minutes before resorting to tasing the dog in an attempt to get a control pole around his neck. Bystanders recorded cell phone footage of the incident. The video of the dog being tasered has now gone viral and sparked outrage on social media.

By Tuesday, residents were prepared to voice their concerns to the city council. At issue was how many times the dog had been tasered. Police Chief James Berlin told reporters, “The dog was tased one time. The other clicking you hear after the initial tasing is called an arch switch.” The arch switch emits a clicking sound which bystanders interpreted as additional voltage being delivered to the dog. “I don’t think that it’s very appropriate for a dog to be shocked,” said Steve Bodzar of Ann Arbor. Officials confirmed Chewy received only one shock, which lasted for five seconds.

At any rate, Chewy’s owners, who supposedly wished to remain anonymous, are happy to get their beloved pet back, alive and safe and sound. They told reporters they were more concerned that Chewy would be run over by a speeding car. But as The Free Thought Project has frequently reported, the couple had more to fear from police than from motorists. That’s because body camera footage and cell phone footage reveal the police are very trigger happy when it comes to shooting what they consider to be a vicious dog.

Killing an animal by discharging one’s service pistol is doing no service to society. If their jobs are to protect and serve, that role also extends to the citizens’ pets as well. There are hero cops out there, who get it, who aren’t afraid of barking dogs, who are properly trained and know how to intervene in a situation involving vicious growling dogs.

In a recent story, we highlighted one brave cop’s successful attempt at getting two equally vicious dogs into the back of his squad car. We applaud brave police officers such as he. And even for the unnamed officers in Roseville, we say thank you for not killing Chewy and getting him safely home. Even though you had to tase him to do it, at least you didn’t shoot the beloved runaway pet.

According to Petful, police officers lack the appropriate training in dealing with vicious animals. Officers are often in fear for their safety and they choose to shoot the dog, but Petful offers some helpful suggestions. They suggest police officers read the Department of Justice’s guide on dealing with animal encounters titled, “The Problem of Dog-Related Incidents and Encounters.” Here are two excerpts from the guidebook.

In fact, dogs are seldom dangerous. [Around the same number of] people are killed by lightning each year than by dogs. Despite the increase in the number of dogs and people in the United States, dog bite-related fatalities are exceedingly rare and have not increased over the last two decades.

Dogs respond to us by communicating through their own body postures, facial expressions, and vocalizations. Without staring at [the dog’s face], the officer should look at the entire dog, checking both for behaviors that show the dog is uncomfortable and feeling threatened and for behaviors that signal comfort and friendliness. An officer should look quickly at the whole dog to get an overall impression of the dog’s state of mind.

With those ideas in mind, we at least encourage officers to use their tasers on vicious animals, instead of drawing one’s service pistol and killing the animal. Also, there may be other options to tasering a dog, such as coaxing the animals into a squad car, a locked fence, or offering the animal a distraction such as food, like the heroic officer in the video below.

Victim Fights Back After Horrifying Video Shows Judge Torture Him in Court

Greenbelt, MD – In 2014, a man representing himself in a Maryland court was shocked and tortured with 50,000 volts of electricity by a judge because he continued to speak when the judge ordered him to stop.

Now, the victim, Delvon King is fighting back.

Judge Robert Nalley pleaded guilty in February 2016 to depriving King of his civil rights and video of the horrific incident was then released.

Nalley was facing up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $100,000 after pleading guilty. However, since he is subject to a different set of rules because he is a judge, he only had to pay a $5,000 fine.

On Monday, King filed a lawsuit against Nalley, who has since retired.

The charge against Nalley was also weak, as he did not simply deprive a man of his civil rights, but he tortured him. Under any other circumstances, Nalley’s actions would have been considered torture, but since he did it under the sanction of his place in government, he was given a pass.

Nalley never even apologized to King for the horrendous act.

During the trial, King had a shocker anklet attached to him, which was supposed to be used in case of an emergency situation, or if King were to attempt to escape or hurt anyone. However, this sadistic judge used it to torture.

“A judge can only take this type of measure if the litigant is a danger to those in the courtroom,” one of King’s lawyers, Steve Silverman, told The Huffington Post in an email Thursday. “Judges are not allowed to arbitrarily electrocute litigants. That is why the judge was convicted of a federal civil rights crime.”

As the Free Thought Project previously reported, in the court, King attempted to make his case but was constantly interrupted by the judge who repeatedly told him to be quiet. When King continued to make his case to the court, Judge Nalley told the court deputy “Mr. Sheriff, do it… use it,” at which point 50,000 volts of electricity were sent through King’s body, causing him to scream in pain. The court transcript read, “DEFENDANT SCREAMS.”

King later described the situation to reporters, saying that he experienced “Excruciating pain then, and a burning sensation.”

“It burned the rest of the day. Messed me up mentally. I don’t really remember that part. Just next thing I know, I’m on the ground,” King added.

The U.S attorney said that Judge Nalley acted as if he was above the law, and that this conviction should be a message to other state employees that they should treat the people that they encounter as equals — some message, pay $5,000 and go to an anger management class and you can get away with torturing a man.

“It’s not about race. It’s about power. It’s about a judge who abused the power vested in him to order a defendant to be punished essentially before he was convicted of any crime,” the attorney said.

According to Review Times, this is not the first time Nalley has been a defendant. This tyrant should have been gone a long time ago. In 2010, he pleaded guilty to tampering with a vehicle after he deflated the tire of a cleaning woman’s car that was parked in a restricted zone at the courthouse. As a result, he was fined, had to write a letter of apology and was suspended for five days without pay.

But, he was not fired.

Below is the video of this insane moment. Notice how the officer, without any hesitation, walks up to King and blindly follows the unlawful order. This video epitomizes the terrifying reality that stems from people just doing their jobs — as dictated by sadistic unaccountable tyrants.
