"Gasping For Air" - Atlanta Nursing Home Staff Laugh As WWII Veteran Dies After Calling For Help

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com,

Staff at the Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation Center laughed as a decorated World War II veteran took his last gasps of air after frantically calling for help six different times, according to a shocking new investigation from 11Alive.com.

The investigation included the release of a never before seen hidden camera video that not only completely contradicted statements given by the nursing home staff but also proved, without a shadow of doubt, that the nursing home essentially let the decorated veteran die as if it were a joke.

The video is so disgusting that attorneys for the nursing home repeatedly tried to stop its release, going through a series of court battles with the local news station in which they hoped that the media would be ordered to censor the footage.

Thankfully, the judge in the case ruled in favor of actual journalism and the nursing home, after seeing no other possible outcome, eventually dropped their appeal to the Georgia State Supreme Court.

In the 11Alive investigation, the news outlet details the fact that a nurse who was on duty at the time directly lied about what actually happened before being confronted with the hidden camera video.

In the video deposition, former nursing supervisor Wanda Nuckles tells the family’s attorney, Mike Prieto, how she rushed to Dempsey’s room when a nurse alerted her he had stopped breathing.

Prieto: “From the time you came in, you took over doing chest compressions…correct?”

Nuckles : “Yes.”

Prieto: “Until the time paramedics arrive, you were giving CPR continuously?”

Nuckles : “Yes.”

The video, however, shows no one doing CPR when Nuckles entered the room. She also did not immediately start doing CPR.

“Sir, that was an honest mistake,” said Nuckles in the deposition. “I was just basing everything on what I normally do.”

[…]

When nurses had difficulty getting Dempsey’s oxygen machine operational during, you can hear Nuckles and others laughing.

Prieto: “Ma’am, was there something funny that was happening?”

Nuckles : “I can’t even remember all that as you can see.”

“The video shows the veteran calling for help six times before he goes unconscious while gasping for air. State records show nursing home staff found Dempsey unresponsive at 5:28 am. It took almost an hour for the staff to call 911 at 6:25a.m,” the 11Alive report read.

Amazingly, the Georgia Board of Nursing told 11Alive that the nurse seen in the above video, as well as another nurse on duty at the time, were only forced to surrender their licenses in September of this year, almost three years after the disgusting incident!

“Nursing board president Janice Izlar says she cannot confirm when the state knew about the video, but the board’s action came shortly after 11Alive sent her and other board staff a link to view the video,” 11Alive continued.

The deceased veteran, 89-year-old James Dempsey was a decorated World War II veteran who was from Woodstock, Georgia. Dempsey’s family received a settlement from the nursing home in 2014 so were unable to comment on the investigation.

[VIDEO] Cop Suffers A Panic Attack During Standoff As Paramedic Disarms Him

coppanics

A Sevier County Sheriff’s Office deputy opened fire without warning in a mobile home park. He then suffered an apparent panic attack and four minutes later was forcibly disarmed by a paramedic, body camera footage shows.

Deputy Justin Johnson and paramedic  Blake Gregg were holding down an unarmed suspect, Tina Carrie Jo Cody, when the incident occurred.  The video begins with Johnson asking Cody to walk toward him with her hands up. He already seems angry and slightly agitated.

Johnson was called to the mobile home park at 794 Sharp Road by the paramedics. A “morbidly obese female” had fallen inside one of the homes and was complaining about landlord Robin Sutton, Cody’s mother, and Cody, Johnson wrote in his report.

Once Cody is on the ground after a short chase,  an obviously adrenalized Johnson suddenly turned toward the trailer park and fired four shots.  He paused and fired three more rounds, the video obtained by the USA TODAY NETWORK – Tennessee showed.  Johnson then ran away from Cody and Gregg toward Sharp Road.

“Shots fired,” he told dispatchers. “We need help.”  Four minutes later, Johnson was kneeling over Cody, who had remained on the ground during the shooting, with his gun still in his hand when the video showed he began hyperventilating and running backward away from the mobile homes and Cody.

Paramedic Michael O’Connor ran toward Johnson.

“Pull it together,” O’Connor told Johnson. “Look at me.”

The sheriff’s deputy begins to panic around the 5:25 mark in the video. Johnson continued to hyperventilate while pointing his gun toward Cody, Gregg and the mobile homes.  He appears to be suffering from a breakdown.  “Give me your gun,” O’Connor repeatedly said. A still hyperventilating Johnson continued to grip the gun. O’Connor eventually wrested it from his hand. “Let go of it,” O’Connor said. Johnson continued to hyperventilate.

The paramedic does succeed in disarming Johnson.  About one minute and 30 seconds after Johnson began hyperventilating, his breathing slowed. “I’m OK,” he said. “I’m OK.”

O’Connor handed Johnson his gun back. He had hyperventilated so strongly one of his contact lenses had popped out of his eye, the video showed. He tossed it away as he trained his gun toward the mobile homes. The man he has been yelling at was Brian Keith Mullinax, the boyfriend of Tina Carrie Jo Cody.  The couple spent 42 days in jail on felony charges, accused of causing what was described in court statements as a “panic attack” and which a detective called “some type of cardiac event.” They remain under prosecution on misdemeanor charges, court records show.

Unarmed, Mullinax was facedown on the ground with his arms extended during the duration of Johnson’s panic attack.  The video showed Mullinax obeyed Johnson when – after Johnson had fired seven shots and ran away – the deputy ordered him to the ground, and he never moved from that position during or after Johnson’s panic attack.

Mullinax is set to stand trial in Sevier County Criminal Court on a charge that he assaulted Johnson. A lower court judge already dropped felony charges against both Cody and Mullinax, and a grand jury refused to indict Cody for causing the panic attack. She remains charged with resisting arrest.

The Utah Nurse is Not Alone — Police Have a History of Abusing Professionals Rendering Aid

The Body Cam footage of a nurse being violently arrested by a police officer in Salt Lake City while other officers on the scene watched and aided the arrest went viral on Friday. The internet watched in horror as a nurse followed the orders from her supervisors and refused to break the law—and a police officer responded by throwing a temper tantrum because he was told “No.”

However, while this incident was caught on video and spread like wildfire when it was released, it is not uncommon, and it does not apply solely to medical professionals. Police officers also have a history of targeting and abusing first responders rendering aid to citizens in life-threatening situations.

Firefighters

When Capt. David Wilson, a veteran firefighter with 27 years of experience, arrived at the scene of a nasty car accident in Hazelwood, Missouri, in May 2003, he parked his truck and went to work. As he was attending to the victim, he was approached by a police officer who seemed to care more about the position of the truck, than about the survivors of the crash.

When Wilson ignored orders from Officer Todd Greeves to move his vehicle, Greeves became agitated, and decided to take matters into his own hands. Greeves arrested the firefighter, and kept him detained by a patrol car for 23 minutes until a supervisor told him to let Wilson go. Wilson filed a civil rights lawsuit, and received $17,500 in damages.

A similar instance occurred in March 2014 when a volunteer fireman in New Roads, Louisiana, was rendering aid to a woman who passed out in her home. He was the first one on the scene, and when police arrived, instead of asking about the state of the patient, they demanded that the fireman move his truck. When he did not comply, the officer arrested and detained him for nearly 15 minutes.

In February 2014, when Jacob Gregoire, a veteran firefighter with 12 years of experience, was responding to the scene of an accident in Chula Vista, California, he was also ordered to move his truck. Gregoire ignored the commands from a California Highway Patrolman, and he was arrested and detained on the side of the highway for 30 minutes.

In response to the incident, Chula Vista Fire Chief Dave Hanneman called CHP’s behavior “ridiculous” and the firefighters’ union president John Hess praised Gregoire’s actions. “He made all firefighters look good. He was there to protect the citizens and he was willing to take a stand to do that,” Hess said.

EMTs and Paramedics

In the same way that power-hungry police officers have gone after firefighters rendering aid to the victims of car accidents, they have also gone after paramedics and emergency medical technicians who did not follow their orders.

In 2009, Oklahoma State Patrolman Daniel Martin pulled over an ambulance for failing to yield to his patrol car. The ambulance was in the midst of rushing to a hospital with a sick woman in its care.

When the driver of the ambulance, Maurice White, stood up to Martin, the patrolman responding by assaulting, choking and then arresting White, while a sick patient waited in the back of the ambulance, in need of emergency medical care.

Another police officer used the chokehold method when he got into a confrontation with an EMT in Portsmouth, Ohio, in February 2017. While the emergency medical technicians were preparing to move a man into an ambulance, after he was knocked unconscious during a fight outside of a bar, he suddenly regained consciousness.

Police on the scene responded by intervening and deploying a taser on the startled man, and when one of the EMTs stood up the police sergeant, he assaulted the technician, putting him in a chokehold.

A sheriff’s deputy also decided to interfere with an ambulance rushing a patient to a hospital Jackson, Kentucky, in June 2016. The ambulance driver claimed the deputy gave no reason for the stop, and the only reason the driver could come up with as to why the deputy would interfere was because he was the owner of a competing ambulance company.

When a police officer in San Diego, California, decided to go after an EMT and a paramedic at a 7-11 convenience store in April 2014, the surveillance tape was their saving grace.

Officer Anibal Solis claimed he heard EMT Derek Shubin call him a “F—king Nazi,” and he naturally grabbed Shubin and punched him. Paramedic Steve Cogle then intervened and put Solis in a chokehold. After Cogle let Solis out of the chokehold and tried to diffuse the situation, the officer proceeded to attack him.

A former paramedic in St. Paul, Minnesota, found herself on the receiving end of similar treatment in April 2017, when she stopped to render aid to a man who was bleeding on the street. As soon as an officer arrived, the paramedic cautioned him not to touch a portion of the man’s shirt that was soaked with blood. The officer responded by punching and later arresting the paramedic for attempting to help.

One of the most commonly used arguments for supporting police officers is that they risk their lives daily in order to save the lives of others. This same description can be used for firefighters, doctors, nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians.

However, when police officers adopt an “It’s my way of the highway” mentality, and they abuse medical professionals and first responders who do not listen to their commands, they not only take away from their own credibility, they also risk the lives of individuals who are already in an emergency situation.

Cop Punches, Arrests Innocent Paramedic for Trying to Save a Life – Keeps Job, No Apology

paramedic

St. Paul, MN — All she wanted was an apology from the police department for her unlawful and forceful arrest, and she would drop her lawsuit against the St. Paul Police Department and the city. But since she didn’t get a written apology, along with her requirement that the arresting officer be disciplined, she went ahead with her lawsuit. Now there’s late-breaking news the city has settled out of court.

It all started in 2013 when Christie Jones, a former paramedic, stopped to help a man who was injured. According to the Duluth News Tribune:

Jones was driving home from a physical therapy appointment on the afternoon of Oct. 9, 2013, when she saw a man dripping blood on Thomas Avenue, a few blocks from Marion Street.

The man told Jones his girlfriend had stabbed him in the neck. Jones, who said she spent 20 years as a paramedic in Kentucky, Georgia and California, told the man she was a former paramedic and asked if she could help, according to her lawsuit. Jones noticed he had a severe cut on his elbow, but no stab wounds on his neck.

When St. Paul officer Armando Abla-Reyes arrived, Jones said she told him what she knew of the man’s injuries. Jones, who wasn’t wearing protective gloves, said she had accidentally touched a blood-soaked area of the man’s shirt and she saw Abla-Reyes was about to do the same. The officer also wasn’t wearing gloves and Jones said she didn’t want him potentially exposed to an infectious disease.

“I told him, ‘Watch it,’ and put my hand out,” she said. The simple act of advising the officer must have challenged his sense of bravado. Abla-Reyes then swung his arm and hit Jones in the chest, flailing her backward on her already damaged heel.

She was wearing a walking cast (boot) for a ruptured Achilles’ tendon, and the punch by the officer didn’t help. Taken aback by the situation, apparently, Jones told the officer she was going to file a complaint against him and wanted to speak with his supervisor.

She then began to do what we at The Free Thought Project encourage our readers to do. She began recording the scene with her cell phone camera standing some 30 feet away while doing so. Abla-Reyes approached Jones, asked her for her name and date of birth, and then arrested the former paramedic who’d already had a long career in emergency services. He put her in handcuffs and stuffed the Good Samaritan in the back of his squad car — an action which was certainly humiliating for her.

Since the altercation with Jones, it appears Alba-Reyes has been reassigned. He’s no longer a patrolman but instead works in the department’s community engagement unit handling permit and event planning. We contacted the City of St. Paul and spoke with the town clerk who confirmed with us the city did indeed vote on Wednesday and approved a settlement to Jones in the amount of $23,500. But the St. Paul taxpayers did not have to shoulder the costs of the lawsuit if the police department had simply complied with Jones’ request to issue a written apology and discipline the police officer who she said was out of line.

If you live in St. Paul, and you’re appalled that the police department was too prideful to apologize and correct their officer, you might want to give them a call and let them know you’re not happy you’ll be paying more taxes because they can’t swallow their pride.

“All she was there to do was help and she ended up in the back of the squad [car] in handcuffs,” said Zorislav Leyderman, Jones’ attorney. Unfortunately, it appears the masses will once again be monetarily penalized for the reckless actions of an irritated police officer.

Surviving ObamaCare’s Crippling Costs: “Become Your Own Primary Healthcare Provider”

Obamacare-Line-300x265

Are you prepared to survive… the age of socialized medicine? Health care coverage shouldn’t be life threatening, but…

Unfortunately, the skyrocketing cost of health care coverage under Obamacare is forcing millions of middle class families to do without coverage, while being forced to pay the tax penalty. To do anything else is simply unaffordable.

This is a nightmare, and incredibly unfair to American families – and yet, it is now the state of the nation. This is the crushing status quo.

Prepare for the dark times ahead – and empower yourself to keep you and yours healthy and thriving. This is something your doctor, your E.R. and your government can’t and won’t do for you.

As time goes on, health care will continue to deteriorate, yet become increasingly more expensive, less available, and with more red tape than ever. This is just not a tenable situation.

If inadequate hospital and doctor visits can cost thousands, and perhaps fail to even address the problem, hard hit and struggling Americans are going to have to turn towards each other in order to maintain good health.

According to the Patriot Nurse, in this difficult situation:

“You will have to invest in yourself, and become, de facto, your own frontline healthcare provider.”

“You are going to have to know how to assess someone who is sick among your friends and family… the burden of healthcare will be put on you, asymmetrially”

That means paying to take courses and training in first aid, CPR and basic medical – or advance your skills beyond that.

It may be wise to designate one person in your family or group to take on this role, if there are no doctors, nurses or paramedics among you.

In addition to 101 medical techniques, it would be very valuable to become learned in herbal remedies, folk medicine and other old fashioned remedies that have worked for thousands of years. If these relatively inexpensive treatments work, then you can avoid costly trips to the doctor. Eating right, exercising and maintaining good health can prevent diseases and delay problems for many years, and is well worth any effort put in.

via the PatriotNurse.com:

How has healthcare changed and what is it going to look like over the next few years? What can you do to protect yourself and your family from rising costs and declining quality of care?

Besides the outright theft and fraud inherent in the socialist system, this medical scheme is setting up the nation’s population to be chronically sick, heavily medicated, vaccinated, sedated and pumped full of chemicals and government propaganda.

As already chronically ill and obese people, many of whom are in the lower economic bracket, sign up for Obamacare – subsidized by taxpayers in many cases – the cost of providing health care soars, and treatment quality declines.

This is a downward spiral.

As frightening as it is, it is best to see it from a sober perspective, and prepare your sphere to take care of most of its own problems – medical and healthcare wise, and in many other respects.

Whatever it might cost will come back to you many fold when you need care that you can’t otherwise afford. With the right training and preparations, you might be able to alleviate minor problems or even save the life of a loved one.

Of course, it is still important to know where to go if you need a hospital, an ambulance or a specialist doctor.

As SHTF reported:

In SHTF Survival: First Response Packs for Medical Emergencies, Tess Pennington of Ready Nutrition outlines some essential tools for your medical preparedness supplies, including books, supply lists and where you can acquire them:

When there is a  medical emergency, time is of the essence. Typically, medical rescue workers who respond to accidents work swiftly by having their supplies organized and at times, pre-assembled (wound care, trauma packs) to treat patients more efficiently.  Having these items pre-packaged cuts down on response time, and gives the responders more of an advantage in properly caring for the wounded. That efficiency can easily be replicated for your medical supplies or added to your SHTF sick room.

Medical first response packs can be made ahead of time using most of the medical products that you have on hand. In fact, these first response packs are not limited to medical emergencies, they can also be used for dental emergencies as well. To prepare for a SHTF scenario, it would be beneficial to take into account the most likely medical situations you may come in contact with and plan accordingly.

Pennington provides detailed supply lists for a number of scenarios including:

  • Response packs for superficial wounds

  • Response packs for hikers

  • Response Kits for wounds that require sutures

  • Suture Removal Kits

  • Response packs for advanced wound care: bleeding wounds, gunshot wounds, stab wounds

  • Response packs for advanced wound treatment: open or bleeding wounds fractures, falls

  • Response packs for 72-Hour Kits: Intended for the treatment of open or bleeding wounds caused by gunshots, knife cuts or punctures

Self-reliance and a revolutionary spirit of wellness are what is going to separate the survivors from the growing weakness and disease of the collectivized masses. Sad but true.

Just know where your knowledge limits are, and when it is time to call for professional help (and when doing so would just be a waste of precious money).
