Los Angeles, CA – Cutting edge research reveals that occasionally adopting a diet that mimics the effects of fasting may provide dramatic health benefits.
“Fasting flips a regenerative switch essentially regenerating the entire immune system. It gives the OK for stem cells to go begin proliferating and rebuild the entire system,” said Prof Valter Longo, Professor of Gerontology and the Biological Sciences at the University of California.
A study, led by USC’s Dr. Valter, revealed that a “cycles of a four-day low-calorie diet that mimics fasting (FMD) cut visceral belly fat and elevated the number of progenitor and stem cells in several organs of old mice — including the brain, where it boosted neural regeneration and improved learning and memory,” according to USC News.
The initial tests on mice were part of a three-tiered study on the effects of periodic fasting — testing yeast, mice and humans — which was published in Cell Metabolism on June 18, 2015.

Mice, which have relatively short life spans, provided details about fasting’s lifelong effects. Yeast, which are simpler organisms, allowed Longo to uncover the biological mechanisms that fasting triggers at a cellular level. And a pilot study in humans found evidence that the mouse and yeast studies were, indeed, applicable to humans.
Bimonthly cycles that lasted four days of an FMD which started at middle age extended life span, reduced the incidence of cancer, boosted the immune system, reduced inflammatory diseases, slowed bone mineral density loss and improved the cognitive abilities of older mice tracked in the study. The total monthly calorie intake was the same for the FMD and control diet groups, indicating that the effects were not the result of an overall dietary restriction.
In a pilot human trial, three cycles of a similar diet were given to 19 subjects once a month for five days and decreased risk factors and biomarkers for aging, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer with no major adverse side effects, according to Longo.
Dr. Longo notes that strict fasting can be difficult for people to adhere to, and also has the potential to be dangerous, while pointing out that a fasting mimicking diet is much safer and easier.
“Strict fasting is hard for people to stick to, and it can also be dangerous, so we developed a complex diet that triggers the same effects in the body,” said Longo, Edna M. Jones Professor of Biogerontology at the USC Davis School of Gerontology and director of the USC Longevity Institute. “I’ve personally tried both, and the fasting mimicking diet is a lot easier and also a lot safer.”
The fasting mimicking diet cuts a person’s daily caloric intake over the fasting period down to 34 to 54 percent of their daily average, with a specific balance of micronutrients, fats, carbohydrates, and proteins.
In previous groundbreaking research, Longo has shown how fasting can protect immune and other cells from chemotherapy toxicity, while simultaneously starving out cancer cells. Fasting for seventy-two hours protected cancer patients against the toxic impact of chemotherapy:
“Chemotherapy causes significant collateral damage to the immune system. The results of this study suggest fasting may mitigate the harmful effects of chemotherapy,” said co-author Tanya Dorff, assistant professor of clinical medicine at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital.
“We are investigating the possibility that these effects are applicable to different systems and organs, not just the immune system”, Longo said.
“The good news is the body got rid of the parts in the system which might be damaged or old and inefficient parts, during the fasting. If you start with a system heavily damaged by chemotherapy or aging, fasting cycles can generate, literally, a new immune system,” he said.
USC News reports that:
For 25 days a month, study participants went back to their regular eating habits — good or bad — once they finished the treatment. They were not asked to change their diet and still saw positive changes.
Longo believes that for most normal people, the FMD can be done every three to six months, depending on the abdominal circumference and health status. For obese subjects or those with elevated disease risk factors, the FMD could be recommended by the physician as often as once every two weeks. His group is testing its effect in a randomized clinical trial, which will be completed soon, with more than 70 subjects.
“It’s about reprogramming the body so it enters a slower aging mode, but also rejuvenating it through stem cell-based regeneration,” Longo said. “It’s not a typical diet because it isn’t something you need to stay on.”
“If the results remain as positive as the current ones, I believe this FMD will represent the first safe and effective intervention to promote positive changes associated with longevity and health span, which can be recommended by a physician,” Longo told USC News. “We will soon meet with FDA officers to pursue several FDA claims for disease prevention and treatment.”
Despite the plethora of health benefits associated with fasting, Longo warned against water-only fasting or attempting the fasting mimicking diet without seeking the consultation and supervision of a doctor.
Despite its positive effects, Longo cautioned against water-only fasting – noting that they should only be done in specialized clinics – and warned even about attempting the fasting mimicking diet without first consulting a doctor and seeking their supervision throughout the process.
“Not everyone is healthy enough to fast for five days, and the health consequences can be severe for a few who do it improperly,” he said. “Water-only fasting should only be done in a specialized clinic. Also, certain types of very low-calorie diets, and particularly those with high protein content, can increase the incidence of gallstones in women at risk.”
“In contrast,” Longo added, “the fasting mimicking diet tested in the trial can be done anywhere under the supervision of a physician and carefully following the guidelines established in the clinical trials.”
Longo warned that diabetics should not attempt to undergo a fast or the fasting mimicking diet while receiving insulin, metformin or similar drugs and that subjects with a body mass index of less than 18 should not try the FMD diet.

Officer Jody Thompson is one such example.
Thompson’s story begins when he was off-duty two years ago and overheard a call about a horrific case of child abuse. Because of his background at the district attorney’s office in child abuse, Thompson thought he should respond, even though he wasn’t working. What he found when he arrived at the call was nothing short of heartbreaking.
“I’ve investigated child abuse cases before,” Thompson told CBS News. “I thought I’d better go ahead and respond.”
When Thompson arrived at the scene, reports CBS News, he was stunned to see a severely underweight boy — his wrists bound by belts, with bruises along his back and a huge knot on his head. The 8-year-old boy had been submerged in a trash can full of cold water.
He weighed just 61 pounds at the time.

Thompson tells reporters that he knew from that moment he had to protect this boy. However, instead of placing the child in the ‘care’ of the state for him to be passed around in the foster system — a crap shoot at best — Thompson went one step further.

After bringing the boy to the emergency room to get treated for years of horrifying abuse, Thompson made a life-changing decision. He would go through the proper channels to make sure he could protect this little boy for the rest of his life. He moved to adopt him.
“I sat with him,” Thompson said. “And when he was admitted into the intensive care unit, I sat all night until the next day.”
“When I’d seen him in that house shivering and his hands tied — just soaking wet and confused — I knew at that moment the only time I would be satisfied and sure that he was safe is if he was with me,” Thompson said.
As CBS reports, the next day, Thompson contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) to become a certified foster parent. A couple days later, he brought John home.
“At the time, I had a 15-year-old son and an 8-year-old son. When I brought John home I didn’t tell them or my wife,” Thompson said. “Everyone knew… they trusted I was doing the right thing before they even knew what happened and heard the story.”
Thompson’s family accepted little John as one of their own and, just like that, this officer’s public service transcended all bounds of what’s expected from his normal duty. But that was just the beginning.
Months after John moved in with the Thompson’s the family got word that John’s mother, who’d tortured him for years, was giving birth to a baby girl. After going through the proper channels, the child abusing parents then relinquished parental rights and the Thompsons took in John’s sister too.

“We literally picked her up in the hospital the next day when she was a day old and brought her straight home,” Thompson said. “Never in my life did I dream of having a large family, but God had different plans and so here we are. And I’m loving it all.”
To show just how good of a man officer Thompson is, the severely abused boy has not only fit right in with the family, but he’s excelling as well.
“John is amazing. He’s a straight-A student, on the honor roll, in the gifted and talented program, involved in the local drama club,” Thompson said of his now 10-year-old son. “That kid’s very resilient. He bounced back from this.”
On Tuesday, Thompson received a certificate of commendation from the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations, and John stood by his side as he graciously accepted it.
“Jody’s actions as well has his families are second to none. The example of love and compassion he has shown to this young man and his sister is an example everyone should follow,” Poteau Police Chief Stephen Fruen said in a statement. “It’s men like you that make me proud of our law enforcement brothers and sisters. You are very deserving of this commendation. I am proud to serve with you.”
Imagine if all police set out to better their communities through preventing real crimes and showing compassion — instead of collecting revenue and locking people up for victimless crimes. Thompson is a role model to other officers. His service to his community is second to none and should serve as an example for cops across the nation.

According to a revolutionary new study, a drug discovered more than a century ago may hold the key to combating the symptoms of autism. After just one dose, parents of the children in the study watched their kids make incredible improvements, with some speaking for the first time.
The study’s lead researcher, Dr. Robert Naviaux of the San Diego School of Medicine is an internationally known expert in human genetics, inborn errors of metabolism, metabolomics, and mitochondrial medicine. He is the discoverer of the cause of Alpers syndrome — the oldest Mendelian form of mitochondrial disease — and the developer of the first DNA test to diagnose it. Naviaux is, by far, one of the most qualified people in the world to conduct this study.
During his research, Naviaux noted the transformative results of the drug suramin which was first developed in 1916 and used as an anti-parasitic drug for treating African sleeping sickness and river blindness. After giving a single dose of suramin to boys with autism, between the ages of five and 14, Naviaux recorded something incredible — their symptoms were significantly alleviated.
“After the single dose, it was almost like a roadblock had been released,” he said. “If the future studies show that there’s continued health benefits, this could be a game-changer for families with autism.”
The study was published in the Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology. During the study, five children were given suramin, while the remainder were given placebos. Included in the group were four non-verbal children, two 6-year-olds, and two 14-year-olds.
One parent, who noted that her son had not spoken a full sentence in more than a decade, said, “Within an hour after the infusion, he started to make more eye contact with the doctor and nurses in the room. There was a new calmness at times, but also more emotion at other times.”

“He started to show an interest in playing hide-and-seek with his 16-year-old brother. He started practicing making new sounds around the house. He started seeking out his dad more.”
Naviaux’s expertise led him to the theory that there is a fundamental metabolic problem in all people with ASD — namely, that cells in affected people experience abnormal levels of something that Naviaux has termed the “cell danger response” (CDR), according to Seeker.
The CDR, Naviaux explained to Seeker, happens when a cell responds to external stressors or toxins. He describes this process as the cell hardening its membranes, ceasing interaction with neighbors, and withdrawing into itself until the danger has passed.
Naviaux believes that the CDR process gets stuck in children with autism, and that it can permanently alter how the cells interact with their external environment. When this happens in early child development, Naviaux believes it results in the development of autism and various other chronic childhood disorders.
The trial aimed to “un-stick” the CDR cycle using an infusion of an old drug called suramin, which was first developed in 1916 to treat parasitic diseases, including African sleeping sickness (trypanisomiasis) and river blindness (onchocerciasis).
Suramin is also the only drug used in humans that can “inhibit extracellular ATP signaling,” Naviaux said, giving cells that are stuck in the CDR cycle the “all-clear signal” that they need to continue with their normal development.
“Suramin produced the most dramatic improvement in autism symptoms that we have ever seen with anything we have tried,” one parent of a child in the study wrote.
“Nothing has come close to all the changes in language and social interaction and new interests that we saw after suramin,” said another.
Naturally, the sample size of this study leaves room for speculation and even the study’s supporters are quick to note this.
“We would have loved to have done a much larger trial,” said John Rodakis, the founder and president of N of One: Autism Research Foundation, which supported the trial. “We just didn’t have the funding for it.”
Naviaux’s study was entirely funded by grassroots efforts and from autism parents and advocates. They received no federal funding.
It is important to note that while this study is highly encouraging, there is also grounds for caution — which is also grounds for more funding and a larger study.
The first drawback to the study is that the effects of suramin — the remarkable positive cognitive and emotional improvements — are only temporary. Another worrisome aspect of the study is that all the children who received suramin experienced a rash.
Despite these issues, the incredible response by those who were administered the drug definitely warrants further research, and the parents of the children who received it agree.
For now, the next challenge is funding. “This work is new and this type of clinical trial is expensive,” Naviaux said. “We did not have enough funding to do a larger study. And even with the funding, we were able to raise, we had to go $500,000 in debt to complete the trial.”
The former coroner of Round Lake Park, Illinois has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies. According to the Chicago Tribune, “Former Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd has been indicted on five felony counts of perjury, with authorities alleging he falsely claimed to have witnessed signatures on his election nominating petitions.” The story might seem just if weren’t for Round Lake Park, IL Police Department’s sordid past and current track record of alleged corruption, cover-ups, and scandals.
In 2016, ten of the thirteen police officers that comprise the small police department filed a civil rights lawsuit against the village and the department after learning the body cameras worn by officers at all times were allegedly capturing the officers in compromising situations which included a female officer using the bathroom, and others in intimate situations.
The lawsuit names the village, and the sheriff and his second-in-command as defendants. “The only two people with full administrative access to the video review system were Filenko and Deputy Chief Daniel Burch, who therefore knew about the unauthorized video, asserts the suit, which names both as defendants. Burch had also conducted the department’s initial two-hour training session on the cameras, showing officers how to start and stop the devices, advising officers to record almost all calls, both routine and emergency, including traffic stops and foot pursuits,” writes the Tribune.
One by one, as former Round Lake Park Police Officer Dominick Izzo told The Free Thought Project, Filenko then began to harass, intimidate, and threaten the officers whose names were listed as plaintiffs in the case. Chief Filenko supposedly made life so difficult for them, that many left the PD and moved to other precincts.
But it was the 48 Hours episode which chronicled Melissa Calusinski’s fight to prove her innocence which sent Izzo over the blue line of silence, transforming him into a whistleblower, an action which cost him his career and has now led to the former coroner’s arrest.
Calusinski, a daycare worker in her 20’s, was charged with murder in the Jan. 14th, 2009 death of baby Ben Kingan who passed away while in her care. The state’s case against Calusinski argued Kingan was a healthy little boy when she violently slammed him on the ground, causing a skull fracture, which led to his death. After all, Calusinski confessed on video, even reenacting how she’d killed the little boy.
The trial was equally as convincing, and the jury returned a guilty verdict. In 2011, the young woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Calusinski denied any involvement in Kingan’s death saying, “I was just ready to get away from these men.” Those men to which she referred were the investigators in her case, one of whom was Filenko himself.
She claims she was intimidated into falsely confessing to the infant’s death. She had claimed innocence for more than six hours, eventually giving in and saying whatever in order to get out of the interrogation. No sooner had she been placed into the squad car than she recanted her confession. Experts in researching false confessions agreed, saying Calusinski was coached by Filenko in what to say, and how to describe her actions, leading her into falsely claiming she was guilty.

The experts also said the daycare worker’s immediate willingness to take a polygraph test and have the other children at the daycare interviewed by child behavioral experts was further evidence she did not commit the crime she was accused of committing. From the 9 hours of videotaped interrogations, one could easily conclude the interrogators verbally berated Calusinski, intimidated her with profane words, and overlooked the hours of denials of any involvement in Kingan’s death. That feeling, of being in the presence of one of Filenko’s verbal assaults, was a feeling Izzo knew all too well, and had experienced on numerous occasions.
Izzo knew he would lose his job when he came out as a whistleblower against his boss, Round Lake Park, IL Police Chief George Filenko. Izzo, the former Police Union President, and former “Officer of the Year” for the small police department of 12 officers, had once been inside the chief’s inner circle, serving as his right-hand man. But that all changed when Izzo became more aware of Melissa Calusinski’s case. After the 48 Hours episode aired, which made no mention of Chief Filenko, Izzo released all he’d been holding inside.
The Free Thought Project first broke the story of Izzo’s public denouncement of his former police Chief, boss, and friend. The now former Round Lake Park police officer posted his lack of confidence in Filenko on Facebook. He accused the chief of knowingly allowing the body cameras worn by all of Round Lake Park’s police officers to film the officers in compromising and intimate situations. He detailed what he considered was Filenko’s vengeance against the police officers who filed a lawsuit against the chief, the department, and the county.
According to Izzo, those who sued the city found themselves the target of the police chief’s recompense in the form of demotions, threats, and intimidation. And then Izzo turned his attention to Calusinski’s case, saying his chief was the real reason Calusinski was in prison. He said it wasn’t her guilt which put her there, but the chief’s incompetence, and that the man should never have been allowed to interrogate her in the first place.
Put simply, Izzo believed Calusinski was innocent and the police were doing all they could to keep her in prison. Not surprisingly, Izzo was fired the day after our story broke. But the pressure is now on the village to justify its treatment of the young, and some have said, innocent daycare worker. There are others, also, who agree Melissa Calusinski was innocent.
“Normally a pathologist is not 100 percent, but I feel she’s 100 percent innocent,” former Lake County coroner Thomas Rudd told 48 Hours. In 2012, Calusinski’s father persuaded Rudd to review the autopsy evidence that had been used to convict his daughter. Rudd had recently been elected to the position of Lake County Coroner, and he said, “I was stunned. I could not believe what I was seeing, because it was the exact opposite of what was written.”
Rudd then got a second opinion from Dr. Nancy Jones, also a pathologist who’s conducted 10,000 autopsies. “Huge, hugely, significant, and how they let that go is beyond me,” Rudd said upon reviewing the 4-inch by 4-inch old injury he and Jones said had been healing for nearly 4 months prior to his death. “The old injury was massive,” Rudd said. Adding to the evidence Calusinski didn’t kill Kingan was the fact Kingan’s head circumference had grown from the 50th percentile to the 90th percentile within just a few short months.

Dr. Rudd then called the original pathologist Dr. Choi and asked the former pathologist to confirm his and Jones’ findings. He did. Dr. Choi admitted he was wrong in a sworn affidavit. Prosecutors Matthew Demartini and Stephen Sheller refused to concede a miscarriage of justice had occurred. They two were joined by Lake County State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim. The trio would eventually be victorious in court for a second time, keeping Calusinski in prison.
“How do you fracture a skull without causing tissue damage to the skin above it? It’s not possible,” Rudd stated acknowledging Kingan, at the time of his death, had no signs of a contusion in the area where the state’s attorney’s say Calusinski caused injury leading to his death. And the size of the infant’s head was noticeably abnormal.
“His head looked like the old fashioned light bulb,” which he said was not the shape of a normal child’s brain. The boy’s brain was abnormally large at the time of his death, which was something Calusinski did not cause. Newly discovered x-rays of Kingan’s brain also confirmed what other experts concluded was an abnormally shaped head, which is an obvious indication of brain swelling, a condition which could have easily caused his death.
In 2015, after gathering all the facts, Dr. Rudd then reclassified Kingan’s death from a “homicide” to “undetermined.” Armed with the coroner’s corrected cause of death, Calusinski’s Attorney Kathleen Zelener in June 2015, filed a petition to have Calusinski’s conviction thrown out, based on all of the evidence which has emerged since her conviction. It took a year of fighting, but finally, in June of 2016, Lake County Judge Daniel Shanes agreed to give Calusinski and her lawyer a hearing in court.
By August, she was back in court to determine whether or not Calusinski should be freed. Zelener even testified that at the original trial, the prosecution gave Calusinski’s defense attorneys x-rays of Kingan’s brain which had been photoshopped to prevent the defense attorneys from discovering there were no skull fractures as the prosecution contended.
Judge Shanes refused to overturn Calusinski’s conviction, even with the overwhelming evidence of two new medical doctors, the statement from the former pathologist admitting he’d made a mistake, the fact the child’s brain was abnormally large, the knowledge there was no contusion on the child’s head, and the contention the defense never received clear x-rays. “I totally expected it. We’re in Lake County. They never admit they’re wrong,” Zelener said.
After all the evidence was presented, after one police officer lost his job for blowing the whistle, and after Calusinski’s hopes for freedoms were dashed, what did Dr. Rudd receive in exchange for attempting to free someone he believed was “100 percent innocent”? He has been arrested, and charged with perjury. Izzo says the charges against Rudd are trumped up, all done in an effort to discredit the medical doctor, and thereby making him an unbelievable and unreliable witness in all cases going forward, including any more appeals to set Calusinski free as well as any others who may have been forced into a false confession and thereby a false imprisonment.

In a statement to The Free Thought Project, the former insider, who worked closely with Chief Filenko said Rudd is being targeted for speaking out against what the county has done to Calusinski, starting with her inhumane interrogation and ending with her coached and coerced false confession. In a Facebook post, Izzo stated, “If you cannot see the blatant attempt to discredit Rudd to keep Calusinski in jail, then you are blind. The FBI needs to step in now.”
Spelling it out even further, Izzo correctly stated that the same judge (Shanes) who refused to overturn Calusinski’s conviction is the same one who is president over Rudd’s perjury hearings. The former police union president also stated Filenko is “best friends” with the State Attorney Nerheim.
Rudd’s defense attorney Jed Stone said the charges against Rudd are “political payback for Dr. Rudd embarrassing law enforcement because they did not do their jobs…Everybody knows it. I am getting such favorable comments (regarding Rudd) from the public.”
Dr. Rudd, who is 70-years-old, has pleaded not guilty last week to all the charges brought against him. Prior to the plea, Stone asked for a substitution of judges, presumably because of the obvious conflict of interest in Shanes’ involvement in the Calusinski case. His motion was granted and Shanes was replaced with Judge Victoria Rossetti. Stone said he will be filing a motion within the coming days to have all the charges dropped against his client.
As The Free Thought Project has reported on numerous occasions, government often will identify targeted individuals whom it will go after for special prosecution. Those individuals, despite having protections from federal and state whistleblower protections laws, are often those individuals who are brave enough to speak out against the injustices they see being committed in their communities.
It is the belief of The Free Thought Project, after interviewing the former police union president, Dominik Izzo, and after learning the former coroner has also come forward with his own allegations of cover-up, distortions, and downright lies surrounding the Calusinski case and others, that the Town of Round Lake Park Illinois has a serious issue with police corruption, judicial corruption, and legislative corruption.
The police chief should be replaced, if for nothing but the miscarriage of justice in the brutal interrogation of Melissa Calusinski which lead, as we believe, to a false confession. The judge, in light of the preponderance of new evidence presented, should be recalled if for nothing less than refusing to overturn Calusinski’s conviction. And the mayor of Round Lake Park, Illinois should resign for refusing to fire such a seriously flawed individual to lead the town’s police department.
The civil case involving the body cameras is enough justification for Filenko’s resignation to be demanded. Someone needs to step up and get an innocent woman out of jail, and bring back trust to the town now besieged with a lack of confidence in its leaders.

As the Telegraph reports, Nikita Chen-yun-tai, the inventor of the mobile printer and founder of Apis Cor, explained his desire is “to automate everything.”
“When I first thought about creating my machine the world has already knew about the construction 3D printing,” he explained
“But all printers created before shared one thing in common – they were portal type. I am sure that such a design doesn’t have a future due to its bulkiness. So I took care of this limitation and decided to upgrade a construction crane design.”
What sets Apis Cor’s product apart from the rest is that its mobile printing technology can print everything right on site. Prior to this method, portions of the house had to be made off-site and then transported. However, thanks to Apis Cor, that costly process is now a thing of the past.
“Printing of self-bearing walls, partitions and building envelope were done in less than a day: pure machine time of printing amounted to 24 hours,” the company said.
Once the printer finishes the house, it is removed with a crane and the roof is then added, followed by interior fixtures, fittings, and paint.
As ZeroHedge points out, the initial house consists of a hallway, bathroom, living room and kitchen and is located in one of Apis Cor’s facilities in Russia. The company has claimed that the house can last up to 175 years.
Apis Cor has claimed to be the first company to have developed a 3D printer than can print whole buildings on-site.
For now the technology is in its infancy, however in a few years, the deflationary pressures unleashed by Apis-Cor and its competitors could results in a huge deflationary wave across the construction space, and would mean that a house that recently cost in the hundreds of thousands, or millions, could be built for a fraction of the cost, providing cheap, accessible housing to millions, perhaps in the process revolutionizing and upending the multi trillion-dollar mortgage business that is the bedrock of the US banking industry.
This incredibly cheap and efficient home only costs $10,134.

With his newfound success and popularity from the Grammy nomination and appearances on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Sturgill was recently asked to play on Saturday Night Live.
Shockingly enough, the producers, either through carelessness or intention, allowed Sturgill to play one of his most powerful antiwar songs from all of his albums — Call to Arms. The song is ironically titled as it is a call to arms against the US military rather than a call to arms for them.

In the song, Simpson, who is also a former US military veteran, calls out, not only the brutal nature of military and war but the fact that Western profiteers are making a figurative killing off of heroin for the literal killing of people in Afghanistan.
A former British Territorial Army mechanic, Anthony C Heaford released a report two years ago, and a series of photos, which he says proves that British and American troops are harvesting Opium in Afghanistan.
It is also no secret that Afghanistan opium production has increased by 3,500 percent, from 185 tons in 2001 to 6,400 in 2015, since the US-led invasion.
However, mentioning this on television is virtually unheard of — but not for Sturgill Simpson.
After playing Keep it Between the Lines, Simpson went on to drop truth to the millions of viewers — and most of them had no idea.
As the song starts out, Sturgill Simpson calls out both oil and heroin and notes how the troops are used as pawns in these wars for profit.

In 1859, the sun blasted Earth with a giant cloud of solar plasma, blowing out telegraph systems around the world and wreaking havoc with electrical pylons. It became known as the Carrington Event. Coronal mass ejections hit our planet about once every 100 years, making us due for another one.
Only this time, it would be catastrophic to our digital world. Resulting electromagnetic surges from a solar storm “could render our electronic devices useless and wipe data stored in memory drives.”
This is one scenario motivating the Memory of Mankind project. Academics, universities, newspapers and libraries are collaborating to preserve the accumulated knowledge of our time onto 8-inch ceramic plates and store them in an Australian salt mine.
“Each of these tablets can hold up to five million characters – about the same as a four-hundred-page book. They are acid- and alkali-resistant and can withstand temperatures of 1300C. A second type of tablet can carry colour pictures and diagrams along with 50,000 characters before being sealed with a transparent glaze.”
The technology draws inspiration from Sumerian clay tablets that lasted 5,000 years in the Iraqi desert, which proved invaluable to our understanding of that ancient civilization. Memory of Mankind intends for their “ceramic microfilm” to last millennia or even through an Ice Age, allowing future peoples to study our time.
“We are trying to create something that will not only be a collection of information for a distant future, but it will also be a gift for our grandchildren,” said Martin Kunze, developer of the project. “Memory of Mankind can serve as a backup of knowledge in case of an event like war, a pandemic or a meteorite that throws us back centuries within two or three generations. A society can lose skills and knowledge very quickly – in the 6th Century, Europe largely lost the ability to read and write within three generations.”
Nuclear holocaust, malicious hackers, careless government officials or simply losing the ability to read our digital records are among the scenarios that could render entire sections of humanity unknown to history. So much of our knowledge record is only in digital format now – including scientific papers and video footage – as well as records of personal stories and life events.
“In some distant future after our own civilisation has vanished, they could prove invaluable to any who find them. They could help resurrect forgotten knowledge for cultures less advanced than our own, or provide a wealth of historical information for more advanced civilisations to ensure our own achievements, and our mistakes, can be learned from.”
It could even be other forms of intelligent life form that benefit from the treasure trove of knowledge. But how will the ceramic plates, buried under a mountain, be found and translated?
Everyone taking part in the project is being given a small engraved token with a map of the location, which they can bury at strategic locations or pass down to the next generation. The team has also been creating their own Rosetta Stone, with names and meanings attached to images.
A conference of scientists, historians, archaeologists, linguists and philosophers is taking place this month to create a blueprint for should be included in this repository of knowledge.
In addition to the world’s most significant books, revolutionary scientific papers, and images of precious objects from museums, stories and objects from everyday life will be captured onto the ceramic disks. They will also warn future civilization about nuclear waste dumps.
To immortalize the importance of true freedom fighters exposing the corruption of government, “a plate detailing the story of Edward Snowden and his leak of classified material from the US National Security Agency.”
If the Memory of Mankind project seems rather uninspiring now, imagine how archaeologists felt when they discovered those ancient Sumerian tablets. What would our understanding of human history be without them?
Chandler, AZ – In a scene that seems straight out of a Hollywood satire film, an Arizona man was caught on video going through an In-N-Out drive thru while he was involved in a “low speed” chase with police.
According to reports, police attempted to stop the 35-year-old burger-loving suspect just before 10:30 pm. The suspect then fled at low speeds, leading police on a chase through South Phoenix into East Valley. The chase then took a strange turn when the suspect pulled into the In-N-Out Burger location near Chandler Boulevard and Ray Road.
While sitting in the drive thru, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Josh Adkins, appears to order food before pulling away several minutes later.
After leaving the restaurant parking lot, Adkins reportedly exited his vehicle and attempted to flee through backyards, where he was pursued and eventually surrendered to officers.
According to police, Adkins was arrested and charged with suspicion of unlawful flight from law enforcement, aggravated assault-domestic violence, and unlawful imprisonment.
While this chase may seem humorous and thankfully ended peacefully, sadly this is more often than not an exception to the rule. As The Free Thought Project previously reported, a shocking study has found that, on average, one person every day is killed or injured during a high-speed chase.
According to the study, more than 5,000 bystanders and passengers have been killed in police car chases since 1979. Tens of thousands more were injured as officers repeatedly pursued drivers at high speeds and in hazardous conditions.
Even more shocking, is the fact that, according to the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Institute of Justice, a whopping 91 percent of high-speed chases are in response to non-violent crime; most of which involve only minor traffic infractions.
These statistics are yet further proof that there is no law so trivial that the police will not kill you to enforce it. As America slips further into a dystopian nightmare, it’s time for people to wake up to the reality of what policing has become in 2016.

Moscow, Russia – A secret Nazi-era tactical base has been discovered by Russian researchers on the island of Alexandra Land in the Arctic Circle, located 620 miles from the North Pole.
The site, code-named “Schatzgraber” or “Treasure Hunter” was built by Nazis in 1942 – a year after Hitler invaded Russia – and was primarily used as a tactical weather station that was crucial in planning the strategic movements of Nazi troops, warships and submarines.
“Before it was only known from written sources, but now we also have real proof,” said Evgeny Ermolov, a senior researcher at the Russian Arctic National Park, in a statement. The written source Ermolov referenced is the book “Wettertrupp Haudegen,” published in 1954, and written in German.
The odd tale of how the base was abandoned in 1944 has often been dismissed as a strange war-time myth. Reportedly, supplies had dwindled to dangerously low levels and the officers stationed at the outpost were forced to kill and eat polar bear, which was ultimately infected with trichinosis and caused everyone to become severely ill. The scientists stationed at the base had to eventually be rescued by a German U-boat.
After 72 years, the long-lost Nazi “Treasure Hunter” base in the arctic has been found. Although there are no reports of the Ark of the Covenant or a UFO base, a number of wartime relics for the Nazi-era have been recovered from the outpost, according to the Russian Arctic National Park.
Many of the objects appear to be marked and dated, thus allowing for confirming their authenticity. Included among the artifacts are objects bearing Swaztikas and Nazi insignia. These artifacts will eventually be taken back to Russia where they will be studied, archived and eventually put on public display.
Among the ruins of bunkers, rusted bullets and other relics dating from the Second World War have been discovered at the site, many of which remain in a good condition having been preserved by the cold weather, according to the Independent.
“About 500 items of historical value have been collected on the grounds of the former Treasure Hunter German station that operated on the Alexandra Land island of Franz Josef Land from September 1943 until July 1944,” Russian Arctic National Park press secretary Yulia Petrova said in a statement. “They include munitions and military equipment, everyday items, personal effects, and fragments of meteorological devices.”
In total, over 500 objects have been found, including a batch of well preserved documents, according to the Daily Mail. The code-name given to the base, by the Nazis, led to speculation that the outpost had a secret mission — with some experts believing that it may have served as a base for the pursuit of ancient artifacts, many of which were believed to hold supernatural powers by the Ahnenerbe.
The Ahnenerbe was an institute in Nazi Germany that researched the archaeological and cultural history of the Aryan race with heavy occult influences. Founded on July 1, 1935, by Heinrich Himmler, Herman Wirth, and Richard Walther Darré, the Ahnenerbe later conducted experiments and launched expeditions in an attempt to prove that mythological Nordic populations had once ruled the world.
Alexandra Land, the region where the base was found, was a disputed territory for many years but is now officially recognized as part of the Russian Federation. Russia is reportedly planning to build a permanent military base in the region.
