Hayward Bay Fault Line MORE DANGEROUS Than San Andreas: It’s A ‘Ticking Time Bomb’

Scientists are now saying that the “Big One” in California may not be caused by the San Andreas fault line, but by the Hayward Bay fault line. It is now thought to be the “ticking time bomb” fault line and more dangerous than the San Andres.

The scariest scenario for the next major earthquake may not be from the San Andreas Fault (though that one still threatens), but from the Hayward Fault that runs along the east side of the San Francisco Bay. In fact, many say that the next earthquake on the Hayward Bay fault line would be “disastrous.” According to KTUV, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake along the Hayward Fault could kill as many as 800 people and injure 18,000, according to results of a new research released Wednesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey, citing findings from a simulated tremor with an epicenter in Oakland, said the disaster would cause 400 fires that could destroy 50,000 homes. Nearly half a million people would be displaced, authorities said.

The simulated quake in the video above, known as the “HayWired scenario,” was modeled to occur at 4:18 p.m. on April 18 (yesterday). It replicates a rupture along the fault’s entire 52-mile length, from San Pablo Bay in the north to just east of San Jose in the south. According to this model, the violent shaking from the earthquake could cause the two sides of the fault to split six feet apart in some places. Some of the aftershocks would continue for several months as well. Cities in the East Bay would be hit hard, including Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro, and Hayward.

If a 7.0 magnitude quake occurred like the one simulated, researchers say that the East Bay residents could be without water from anywhere between six weeks to six months. Electricity could be out for up to four weeks in some locations.

According to Business Insider, the statistical chances of this type of an earthquake occurring are not very comforting either. There’s about a 76% chance that the San Francisco Bay Area could experience a 7.2 magnitude earthquake within the next 30 years, according to some recent reports.

The San Andreas Fault under San Francisco rumbled apart about 112 years ago, causing the devastating 1906 earthquake that swallowed city blocks, broke water mains, and triggered massive fires that burned for days.  However, the threat of another major quake for the Bay Area is “real and could happen at any time,” according to researchers for the US Geological Survey.

The Hayward Fault is a “tectonic time bomb, due any time for another magnitude 6.8 to 7.0 earthquake,” according to a 2008 USGS report. Since then, research has indicated that the likelihood of a Hayward quake is greater and more threatening to the 7 million Bay Area residents than a San Andreas quake would be.

“It’s just waiting to go off,” USGS earthquake geologist emeritus David Schwartz warned when speaking to the Los Angeles Times.

Earth’s Volcanoes Are Waking Up: DORMANT Papua New Guinea Volcano Erupts For First Time

pngvolcano

Hundreds of people are fleeing the island of Kadovar after a violent volcano has erupted for the first time in history.  There have also been warnings that tsunamis could strike the island after the alarming eruption.

Mount Tavurvur, in the town of Rabaul in East New Britain province, erupted at 3 a.m. Friday morning, local time. The volcano, located in Papua New Guinea, was thought to be dormant.  It has now erupted for the first time in known history, spewing ash thousands of feet into the air and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents. But the worst could be forthcoming, as experts now fear this surprising eruption could lead to landslides and tsunamis in the area.

“Due to the steepness of the island, landslides are possible and together with the explosive nature of magma, tsunamis may be generated,” the Rabual Volcanological Observatory said in a statement.  “It appears from satellite imagery and aerial photographs that it started with mild Vulcanian activity from a vent at the southeast base. It appears a fissure may be opening just inside of the western wall of the net’s breach descending down to at least sea level,” the statement continued.

Cheyne O’Brien, a forecaster at the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Center, said that the ash clouds had been thrown up steadily to a height of 6,998 feet, forming a plume that is traveling west-northwest. “It’s just a continuous emission of volcanic ash at the moment,” he added. O’Brien also said that although the plume does not yet pose a threat to aircraft, that could change if the wind switched direction towards Papua New Guinea’s Wewak airport.

Just last week, Mount Saint Helens experienced earthquakes while the heavily populated Bay Area in San Francisco was rocked by a small quake that shook millions.  Could this be the beginning of the Earth’s crust “waking up?”

I have been writing about the shaking that has been happening on the west coast quite a bit lately, but I don’t think that people understand the seriousness of what we are facing.

Scientists assure us that the “Big One” is coming, and when it does arrive the devastation will be absolutely off the charts. –Economic Collapse Blog

But this rattling of Earth’s foundation could go beyond the West Coast of the United States.  There has been an increased level of volcanic activity around the globe, leading many to wonder if scientists were correct when they claimed that 2018 is shaping up to be a year of violent activity in the Earth’s crust.

California Wildfires Toll: 42 Dead, $1 Billion In Damages, 8400 Structures Destroyed

wildfiresca

The California wildfires created one of the most devastating events in the state’s history. The newest updated numbers are giving us a glimpse into the peril caused in the Golden State.

Thousands of people have been, and still, remain displaced by the fires in California know all too well how dire the situation has become. Now that the fires have been almost completely contained and the extent of the damage has become much more clear, there can be a more comprehensive update of those numbers.

More than 160,000 acresor 250 square miles, have burned in Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties, just north of San Francisco. Another 36,000 acres have burned farther north in Mendocino County. The fires are still not 100 percent contained, but firefighters are making progress. Nearly 500,000 acres have been torched in California so far this year—twice as many acres as last year. Since October, Cal Fire has battled 250 new wildfires.

Forty-two people have died because of the fires in Northern California. This staggering number includes 23 in Sonoma County alone. All together, the Northern California fires are the deadliest in the state’s history. (The second-deadliest was the 1933 Griffith Park fire, followed by the wildfire in the Oakland hills in 1991.) And as of last week, dozens of people were still missing.

Somewhere near 8,400 structures have been destroyed, according to Cal Fire, the state’s wildfire-fighting agency. Eight insurers reported to the California insurance commissioner that about 5,500 homes were completely destroyed, and an additional 4,000 homes were partially burned. Santa Rosa alone lost 3,000 homes to the Tubbs fire which spread at a stunningly rapid pace; a fact worsened by the Bay Area’s already dire housing crisis. Those who can afford to rebuild their homes will now face a major labor shortage and steep labor costs possibly making it no longer financially wise to rebuild in California.

Last week, the commissioner estimated that the losses because of the fires totaled more than $1 billion, with that figure expected to continue to rise.

At the fires’ peak, 11,000 firefighters across the state—including 3,800 inmate volunteers from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation—battled the flames. Firefighters would work anywhere from 24 to 80 straight hours, dousing active fires and chopping down trees and brush to prevent their spread. About 4,300 still remain on the frontlines to finish containment.

At least two dozen wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties have been partly or fully destroyed. While some vineyards have been able to finish out the harvest season, those most affected may take up to five years to grow back their vines. Wineries are the backbone of the region’s tourism industry; visitors spent $1.92 billion last year, and the fires will likely have an impact on the price paid for wine across the country.

Warning Signs Point To Major Earthquake On San Andreas Fault

sanandreasfault

Many experts are now warning that the San Andreas fault in California is now ripe for a major earthquake.  Not only that, but should it occur, another earthquake could strike the Bay Area resulting in damages that may be impossible to financially correct.

Although a major earthquake around 100 miles away from Los Angeles may not seem like a big deal, experts warn against taking a lackadaisical stance. A magnitude 8.2 earthquake is far from ordinary and there’s plenty of geological evidence of past occurrences in Southern California. New evidence foreshadows grave consequences for a hugely populated region that’s already on high alert for the next “Big One.” A study published earlier this year concluded that the land on either side of the San Andreas fault has been pushing against the other at a rate of more than 1 inch per year since 1857, and the tensions between the plates are eventually going to give out.

“So, you expect that amount of accumulation of energy will be released in the future in a large-magnitude rupture, somewhere along the San Andreas,” said USGS research geologist and study lead author Kate Scharer.

Seismologist Lucy Jones predicts that a San Andreas earthquake beginning at the Salton Sea could be as strong as an 8.2 if it got all the way to Paso Robles.  That powerful of a quake could result in massive loss of life and damages. An 8.2 earthquake would produce far more energy than what was produced by the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima. But the bigger issue is that all of Southern California would be hit at once. Yet, this isn’t new information. Ned Field of the US Geological Survey tried to warn Californians back in 2015 that a major quake is likely to occur, and soon.

“We think Southern California is locked and loaded, that the stresses have really built up, and when things start unleashing, they could unleash for years,” U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Ned Field told Smithsonian.com in 2015.  The last major earthquake near Los Angeles hit Fort Tejon in 1857 and registered a 7.9, making the region long overdue, especially considering the amount of pressure built up on the fault line.

“With 300 miles of fault all going in the same earthquake, you then have everybody affected at the same time,” says Jones. “The San Andreas is the one that will produce the earthquake that’s going to cause damage in every city” in Southern California. However, “it’s not so much about dying in the earthquake. It’s about being miserable after the earthquake and people giving up on Southern California,” says Jones. Catastrophic damage to the region’s infrastructure could take more than a year to repair, which could in turn wreck the local economy and drive people to abandon Los Angeles in a mass exodus. But that still isn’t the worst part of newest predictions.

Not only could a major San Andreas earthquake damage most of Southern California’s cities, a quake could cause another to occur on the Hayward fault in the Bay Area.  The Hayward fault which is considered the most likely to cause the next major earthquake could be set off by a quake along the San Andreas fault, Jones warned.  The well-populated Bay Area would then also be in major distress in addition to Southern California, possibly elevating the number of victims to a staggering and incomprehensible number.

Emergency preparedness could be essential for those in California and for those who haven’t prepared for the natural disaster, now may be time to consider it.  Although in all fairness, experts have been saying this fault line would cause a quake for years and it hasn’t yet.  But logic and history do dictate that eventually, time will be up.

BART Swarm Invasion Shows Mandated Helplessness Invites Attacks

Based on the way they vote, that’s the way most riders want it.

‘[D]ozens of juveniles terrorized riders Saturday night when they invaded the Coliseum Station and commandeered at least one train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries,” the San Francisco Chronicle bemoans. “Witnesses told police that 40 to 60 juveniles flooded the station, jumped the fare gates and rushed to the second-story train platform. Some of the robbers apparently held open the doors of a Dublin-bound train car while others streamed inside, confronting and robbing and in some cases beating riders.”

Want to know if these smiling folks are Oath Keepers? Let them know you’re keeping and bearing arms because it’s your right and see what they have to say about that. (BART/Facebook)

The passengers weren’t in much of a position to do anything but be victimized, thanks in no small part to the Bay Area Rapid Transit’s “no guns” policies, combined with the utter refusal of regional “Only Ones” to approve “may issue” (meaning “probably won’t unless you’re connected) concealed carry permits. That’s all enabled by the overwhelmingly dominant “progressive” mindset of a constituency that demands defenselessness for citizens and “sanctuary” for everyone else.

In this case, the assailants were referenced with euphemisms like “juveniles” and “teenagers,” lest the “reporters” commit the cardinal sin of admitting the truth about the inevitable result of “progressive entitlement” policies. That a real entitlement articulated in the Second Amendment is denied while phony ones designed to keep collectivists in power nurture destroyers is undeniable – except for those with an agenda to smear truth-tellers as haters.

At least we know some are protected, even though oath-breaking “government” officials and enforcers have no duty to protect productive citizens and forbid them from having the means to protect themselves.  Think of this mandate as “for the children,” a favorite gun-grabber sound bite:

“We are in the process of pulling all surveillance video, and we will share with Oakland police, Oakland Unified School District and Oakland Housing Authority to see if they can help identify the minors,” Trost said. “We have had success with sharing images of juveniles with this group and identifying and making arrests in the past.” The images cannot be shared publicly, she said, because the attackers appear to be minors.

Why the hell not? Why is the public not “allowed” to know who the public menaces are, so that if they’re not allowed to fight they can at least flee?

Now that they know they can get away with it, and that’s pretty much already been confirmed by social media-organized flash mobs (by “teenagers,” or as anti-gun SEPTA Police Chief Thomas J. Nestel III characterizes it, “kids … hurting kids. Love them by making them come home”).

Gee, Officer Krupke

All that’s left to those unfortunate enough to have to use public transit is to be prey. If you choose personal safety in defiance of “the law,” you’ll be a “vigilante” and a “criminal” (like Bernhard Goetz). The same will apply if you have one of those impossible-to-get (unless you’re connected like anti-gun Sean Penn) permits, chances are the survivors of your assailants – and the media – will paint them as the victims who were just starting to turn their lives around.

Those are the risks those choosing to remain in such environs will continue to take, and based on their voting patterns, the dangers are self-inflicted.

So just don’t go there? Let ‘em stew in their own juices? Problem solved?

How many live in “flyover” areas where “refugees” leaving fouled urban nests have moved, bringing the same insane “progressive” politics with them? And does anyone think the gun-grabbers are going to stop blaming relatively freer areas for urban self-destruction, inventing scare terms like “iron pipeline,” and imposing disarmament edicts everywhere, in Everytown…?
