Can Fluoride Lower Human Intelligence?

Can Fluoride Lower Human Intelligence? | fluoridated-tap-water | Fluoride General Health Special Interests Toxins

Is fluoride a potential cause of lowering of IQ in our children? Certainly those who advocate for consuming it therapeutically, without acknowledging its well-known adverse health effects, may themselves be suffering from a fluoride-induced deficiency of intelligence.

After all, is it intelligent to ignore the evidence supporting a hard and fast connection between increased fluoride exposure and lower IQ? For example…

The study, titled “Fluoride and children’s intelligence: a meta-analysis,” published in the journal Biological Trace Element Research in 2008, set out to determine” …whether fluoride exposure increases the risk of low intelligence quotient (IQ) in China over the past 20 years.”  They reported:

Sixteen case-control studies that assessed the development of low IQ in children who had been exposed to fluoride earlier in their life were included in this review. A qualitative review of the studies found a consistent and strong association between the exposure to fluoride and low IQ. The meta-analyses of the case-control studies estimated that the odds ratio of IQ in endemic fluoride areas compared with nonfluoride areas or slight fluoride areas. The summarized weighted mean difference is -4.97 (95%confidence interval [CI] = -5.58 to -4.36; p<0.01) using a fixed-effect model and -5.03 (95%CI = -6.51 to 3.55; p<0.01) using a random-effect model, which means that children who live in a fluorosis area have five times higher odds of developing low IQ than those who live in a nonfluorosis area or a slight fluorosis area.[1]

Again, areas with the highest levels of fluoride exposure resulted in children with 5 times higher odds of developing low IQ than those in non- or low fluoride areas.

Don’t trust the Chinese meta-analysis?  How about this Mexican study titled, “Decreased intelligence in children and exposure to fluoride and arsenic in drinking water,” published in 2007 in the journal Cadernos de saúde pública, which found even more dramatic drops in children’s IQ associated with higher urine concentrations of fluoride. [2]

Fluoride is not simply a toxic chemical, linked to over 30 adverse health effects.  It also has psychotropic properties, which is why it is used in psychiatric medications for “treating depression.” Case in point: fluoxetine, a fluoride-containing drug sold by the trade names Prozac, Sarafem and Symbyax.

Drugs.com lists the following possible adverse effects on the nervous system:

Nervous System — Frequent: emotional lability; Infrequent: akathisia, ataxia, balance disorder, bruxism, buccoglossal syndrome, depersonalization, euphoria, hypertonia, libido increased, myoclonus, paranoid reaction; Rare: delusions.

The common medical definition for “emotional lability,” also known  pseudobulbar affect (PBA),  is: “involuntary crying or uncontrollable episodes of crying and/or laughing, or other emotional displays” — ironic, isn’t it, that a chemical marketed as an antidepressant can cause involuntary crying? Also not exactly a rationality-promoting chemical either, is it?

Another “infrequent” side effect of this drug listed is as “depersonalization.” Since fluoride has been linked to the pathological calcification of the pineal gland, the traditional “seat of the soul,” the depersonalization noted as a side effect of fluoxetine exposure, e.g. “…periods of detachment from self or surrounding which may be experienced as “unreal” (lacking in control of or “outside of” self) while retaining awareness that this is only a feeling and not a reality,” could represent the general soul-dislocating effects of fluoride-containing drugs, and fluoride in general, on the pineal gland and other brain structures.

This is, of course, is not simply an academic question.  Companies market “Nursery Water” to new parents, designed to intentionally dose their infants with additional fluoride, even while it is well-known that many are already being overdosed with the stuff from infant formula, toothpaste, tap water-prepared food, etc. to the point that fluorosis, a fluoride-induced damage to and/or discoloration of the enamel of the teeth, can be detected in many of them.

Shouldn’t these manufacturers be obligated to provide a warning to consumers: “may reduce IQ”?  Or, perhaps I am thinking too much, having neglected to take my daily dose of FDA-, EPA-, ADA- approved fluoride.

IQ Losses Continue to Haunt Fluoride

IQ Losses Continue to Haunt Fluoride | toddler-hand-tap-water | Fluoride Medical & Health Special Interests Toxins

On September 19, Environmental Health Perspectives, a highly-respected journal, published a study linking higher fluoride levels in pregnant women to lower IQ’s in their children.

The decrease was significant. Each 0.5 part per million (ppm) increase in a pregnant woman’s urine fluoride levels reduced her child’s IQ by 2.5 – 3 points. A child of a mother drinking 1 ppm of fluoridated water, close to the U.S standard of 0.7 ppm, would be expected to have a drop of 5 to 6 IQ points compared to a child of a mother drinking water with close to no fluoride in it.

This prospective study was funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health and led by researchers at the University of Toronto School of Public Health.

It was very strong, following pregnant women in Mexico and their children for 12 years, and measuring individual urine levels, a more precise method to determine fluoride exposure than drinking water concentrations. The results were undiminished even after adjusting for a wide array of confounding factors, including lead, smoking, alcohol, socio-economic status and birth weight.

The pro-fluoridation lobby, led by the American Dental Association, quickly denied the significance of the study, arguing “the findings are not applicable to the U.S.”

Mexico, like most nations, doesn’t fluoridate its water. The ADA’s stance stems from the fact that the women were mainly getting their fluoride from consuming fluoridated salt or varying natural levels of fluoride in the water. (The ADA ignores the fact that fluoride’s effects are the same once it’s inside the body, no matter the source.)

Most others felt differently. Lead author Dr. Howard Hu asserted “This is a very rigorous epidemiology study. You just can’t deny it. It’s directly related to whether fluoride is a risk for the neurodevelopment of children. So, to say it has no relevance to the folks in the U.S. seems disingenuous.”

Dr. Leonardo Trasande, a pediatrician unaffiliated with the study at New York University, agreed, saying that “This is a very well-conducted study, and it raises serious concerns about fluoride supplementation in water.”

5 Major Revelations Americans Missed While Media Focused on Trump and NFL

trump

The debate over whether it is offensive when football players kneel during the National Anthem in support of a cause they believe in reached a new height this week when President Trump insisted that NFL players should be fired if their use of free speech does not align with what is socially accepted.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” Trump said during a speech in Alabama on Friday.

Trump’s comments led to a firestorm of criticism and even resulted in a host of NFL players kneeling in protest of Trump—as opposed to the original group, who took to their knees in protest of police brutality and discrimination. However, while the media focused on the latest “divide and conquer” propaganda fueled by Trump’s divisive rhetoric, there were a number of revelations that were ignored…

5. Deep State Admits They’ve Finally ‘Gotten a Grip on Trump’ Liken Him to George W. Bush

While it is no secret that the Trump presidency has made many question what happened to the raw, unabashed, anti-establishment, candidate they voted for, and why he is now the head of an administration that would make Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton proud, the neocon of neocons announced this week that the deep state has a “grip on Trump.”

Advertisment

In response to Trump’s speech in which he warned that the U.S. would “totally destroy” North Korea, Bill Kristol said that Trump “sounded a little like George W. Bush to me” and that “for all of Donald Trump’s America First talk and repudiation of the Bush-McCain-Romney foreign policy,” it came across as “more standard,” even with the “Trumpian aspects.”

“The people around Trump have gotten more of a grip on Trump, I think, in foreign policy, than I would have expected… This is a more normal speech by an American president than I might have thought three, four months ago,” Kristol said on MSNBC.

4. NIH Supported Journal Publishes Landmark Study Linking Fluoride to Low IQ

A landmark study on how fluoride affects the cognitive development in children found that there a significant link between the amount of fluoride present, and the children’s mental development.

The researchers found that “higher levels of maternal urinary fluoride during pregnancy (a proxy for prenatal fluoride exposure) that are in the range of levels of exposure in other general population samples of pregnant women as well as nonpregnant adults were associated with lower scores on tests of cognitive function in the offspring at 4 and 6–12 y old.”

“The study found a drop in scores on intelligence tests for every 0.5 milligram-per-liter increase in fluoride exposure beyond 0.8 milligrams per liter found in urine. However, although the researchers found a potential connection to a child’s exposure to fluoride in utero, they found no significant influence from fluoride exposure on brain development once a child was born.”

3. Entire Volume of CIA Files On Lee Harvey Oswald, Set to Be Released in October, Has ‘Gone Missing’

All available documents from U.S. government agencies on Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating former President John F. Kennedy, must be released on Oct. 26, as required by the Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992.

However, the 3,810 documents from the CIA and the FBI that make up “Volume 5” of the files have reportedly “gone missing.” This news has stirred up criticism from a number of people who were hoping that the release of the 7-volume collection of documents would finally lead to answers about whether Oswald was responsible.

As independent investigator Malcom Blunt noted, “This huge search by CIA did not surface Oswald’s security files and the Assassination Records Review Board remained uninformed about their existence. Not until 1997 when an ARRB staffer stumbled across evidence that two previous congressional investigations had access to these files did CIA ‘discover’ them.”

2. Landmark Study Establishes Link Between the Aluminum in Most Vaccines & Autism

While the topic has resulted in an abundance of controversy, it was recently revealed that a landmark, peer-reviewed study conducted by scientists at the University of British Columbia, has established a link between a popular aluminum vaccine ingredient and autism.

The study is set to be published in the December volume of the Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, and its title is incredibly telling: “Subcutaneous injections of aluminum at vaccine adjuvant levels activate innate immune genes in mouse brain that are homologous with biomarkers of autism.”

The study ultimately came to the conclusion that the aluminum administered through vaccines can create reactions in the brain that are homologous with biomarkers of autism:

“It thus appears that Al [aluminum adjuvant] triggered innate immune system activation and altered cholinergic activity in male mice, observations which are consistent with those in autism. Female mice were less susceptible to Al exposure as only the expression levels of NF-κB inhibitor and TNFA were altered. Regional patterns of gene expression alterations also exhibited gender differences, as frontal cortex was the most affected area in males and cerebellum in females … Collectively, these findings refute the notion that adjuvant nanoparticles remain localized and act through a “depot effect”. On the contrary, Al derived from vaccine formulations can cross the blood-brain and blood-cerebrospinal fluid barriers and incite immunoinflammatory responses in neural tissues.”

1. Russia Releases Photos Claiming to Show US Spec Ops Equipment in ISIS Positions in Syria

While coverage of the Islamic State’s reign of terror in Iraq and Syria has quietly disappeared from the mainstream media, allegations and photos of the United States supporting and funding the group continue to come to the forefront.

The latest battle is occurring over Deir er-Zor, the largest city in eastern Syria, where both the U.S. and Russia claim to be fighting against ISIS. However, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, aerial images of ISIS positions included equipment from U.S. Army Special Forces.

As the latest “divide and conquer” propaganda helps to distract the American public, it is important to remember that there are a number of revelations, that are being swept under the rug, which actually have an impact on current and future generations in the United States.
