The U.S.’s Hypocrisy On ‘Political Intervention’ In Elections

vote

The United States government has interfered with more elections than any other government on the face of the earth.  But suddenly, the US is grandstanding and pretending it matters that other nations use the exact same tactics.

“Ah, the peddler propaganda!” says Joe Joseph with The Daily Sheeple while reading a headline declaring that Russians penetrated U.S. voter systems. “Say it ain’t so! A clandestine operation by a foreign government here in the United States? No. Couldn’t be!” he said sarcastically.

The overly biased and left-leaning media attempted to portray this “interference” as a big deal. But as always, propaganda is easy to break down.

The U.S. official in charge of protecting American elections from hacking says the Russians successfully penetrated the voter registration rolls of several U.S. states prior to the 2016 presidential election.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Jeanette Manfra, the head of cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security, said she couldn’t talk about classified information publicly, but in 2016, “We saw a targeting of 21 statesand an exceptionally small number of them were actually successfully penetrated.” –NBC News

Reading between the lines, all this means is pretty much nothing, other than the US government blatantly displaying their hypocrisy while interfering in the elections of other countries. Of course, the media is going to make a big story out of this. “We’re going to turn back the clock a little bit,” says Joseph.

“The US is no stranger to interfering in the elections of other countries. So, since we’re into this whole Russia thing and Russia’s so bad and ‘shame on you, Russia’...well, let’s take a look at all the ways that the United States has interfered.”

According to data gathered by the LA Times, the U.S. has a long history of attempting to influence presidential elections in other countries. The United States government has tried to manipulate as many as 81 elections between 1946 and 2000. According to a database amassed by political scientist Dov Levin of Carnegie Mellon University, that number doesn’t include military coups and regime change efforts following the election of candidates the U.S. didn’t like, notably those in Iran, Guatemala, and Chile. Nor does it include general assistance with the electoral process, such as election monitoring.

Levin defines intervention as “a costly act which is designed to determine the election results [in favor of] one of the two sides.” These acts, carried out in secret two-thirds of the time, include funding the election campaigns of specific parties, disseminating misinformation or propaganda, training locals of only one side in various campaigning, or get-out-the-vote techniques, helping one side design their campaign materials, making public pronouncements, or threats in favor of or against a candidate, and providing or withdrawing foreign aid.

“There’s plenty of history here to show that we’ve been involved in intervening in foreign elections. We did it more than anybody else! So, why should we be surprised when other countries do it to us,” says Joseph.  Again, keep in mind, the election interference was incredibly menial in comparison to the US’s previous manipulations.

You need to be able to “see and understand the propaganda coming from NBC and the mainstream television media.” In case you haven’t figured it out yet, most of the mainstream media is straight up propaganda with the minds of Americans and public opinion being manipulated every second. This has been admitted by the media, yet the public continues to be largely unaware that they are being controlled.  In fact, the US media tried very hard to manipulate public opinion in the 2016 election.  It’s become more than obvious unless you’re one who has been manipulated.

Obama State Dept Secretly Distributed Its Own “Dossier” To Undermine Trump, FOIA Docs Reveal

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge

Watchdog group Judicial Watch released 42 pages of heavily redacted State Department documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which reveal that the Obama State Department provided Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) a “dossier of classified information on Russia” in order to undermine President Trump, according to Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

“These documents show the Obama State Department under John Kerry gathered and sent its own dossier of classified information on Russia to Senator Ben Cardin, a political ally in the U.S. Senate, to undermine President Trump,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Judicial Watch will pursue information on who pulled this classified information, who authorized its release, and why was it evidently dumped just days before President Trump’s inauguration.”

The documents show Russian political interference in elections and politics in countries across Europe.

According to a March 2017 report in the Baltimore Sun: “Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin received classified information about Russia’s involvement in elections when the Obama administration was attempting to disseminate that material widely across the government in order to aid in future investigations, according to a report Wednesday … Obama officials were concerned, according to the report [in The New York Times], that the Trump administration would cover up intelligence once power changed hands.” –Judicial Watch

In March 2017, Former Obama Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Evelyn Farkas, made some stunning admissions during an interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski.

While discussing the mad scramble by the Obama administration to collect and preserve intelligence on alleged Russian election hacking before Obama left office, it appears that Farkas accidentally implicated the Obama White House in the surveillance of Trump’s campaign staff:

The Trump folks, if they found out how we knew what we knew about the Trump staff dealing with Russians, that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we would not longer have access to that intelligence. –Evelyn Farkas

Furthermore, Farkas effectively corroborated the March New York Times article which cited “Former American officials” as their anonymous source regarding efforts to leak this surveillance on the Trump team to Democrats across Washington DC.

I became very worried because not enough was coming out into the open and I knew that there was more. We have very good intelligence on Russia. So then I had talked to some of my former colleagues and I knew they were trying to also get information to the hill.

That’s why you have the leaking. Evelyn Farkas

Farkas resigned from the Obama administration in September of 2015 – begging the question as to how she knew so much about what the previous administration and intelligence community was up to.

A section of the documents obtained by Judicial Watch is titled “Pro-Kremlin NGOs and Think Tanks,” refers to “the Russian government funded Caucasus Research Network, which helped to spread anti-EU and NATO reports throughout the region. Also discussed is the Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative, which was founded by Natalia Veselnitskaya. The Initiative was reportedly “working to erode support for the Magnitsky Act (which imposes sanctions on … gross human rights violations). The organization screened an anti-Magnitsky film at Washington’s Newseum in June.”

Veselnitskaya infamously obtained a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. through associates of opposition research firm Fusion GPS, wherein she attempted to discuss the Magnitsky act before Trump Jr. shut down the meeting.

The Magnitsky Act attracted public attention earlier this year when it was reported Veselnitskaya obtained a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. with the purpose of seeking to undermine the act. It was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to repeal the act at least in part because it targeted top Russian officials who had committed human rights violations and were the beneficiaries of a $230-million tax fraud that Magnitsky exposed. –Judicial Watch

Anti-Russia Sanctions Will Destroy US Petrodollar & the Economy—Get Ready for $10 Gas

petrodollar

Washington, D.C. – The United States is on the precipice of pushing the Sino-Russo alliance closer than ever with the Senate’s almost unanimous approval of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. If President Trump signs the dangerous bill, it will essentially guarantee the fall of the U.S. petrodollar as the global reserve currency.

Hailed by the usual warmongers in the Senate, including resident cold warrior John McCain, the new legislation calls for a ratcheting up of tensions with Moscow under the guise of alleged election interference.

Although there has never been any evidence provided to the public in regards to election meddling, the U.S. lamestream propagandist media, in concert with the deep state, have run a consistent campaign meant to demonize and connect Trump/Russia.

The reality is that Trump ran on a platform of détente with the Russian, converse to Hillary Clinton’s “get tough with Russia” rhetoric during the 2016 presidential campaign, thus trying to create back channels (a common move in diplomacy), to negotiate with Russia outside of the purview of the always listening U.S. spying apparatus.

The new sanctions are meant to directly target the main strength of the Russian economy, the energy sector, in an effort to compel U.S. client states in Europe to abandon mutually beneficial long-term energy deals with Russia.

Advertisment

This dynamic will unquestionably bring Russia and Beijing closer together, as the Russians will hedge against the loss of energy deals with American vassals in Europe by solidifying long-term energy, economic and security cooperation with the Chinese.

Essentially, if Trump signs the bill, the writing is on the wall: Russia and China must form a strategic alliance to withstand the methodical movements of the U.S. empire meant to destabilize their respective governments – with a strategic goal of preventing Eurasian integration.

As the global winds of change blow, look for Germany and Turkey to play a key role in deciding whether Eurasian integration is stifled by the United States. As Max Keiser so presciently notes, “The so-called Washington consensus is disintegrating.”

“The post-WWII order of the US dollar hegemony run out of Washington DC, the so-called Washington consensus – is disintegrating, it is falling apart. The US doesn’t seem to want to take on reality – they want to live in the past, and they want to believe they are the policeman of the world, and they are going to impose sanctions,” Kaiser said.

“Germany is not going to go along with American sanctions quite obviously. They are just pushing Germany into the arms of Russia. Then you’ve got an enormous axis of power to Germany, Russia, and China, and they are going to get out of the US dollar. So then gasoline in America suddenly goes to $10, 11, 12 a gallon. How is that going to help the American economy if the US dollar loses its position as a reserve currency?” Kaiser continued.

Another important factor to consider when analyzing these latest moves by the United States is that China has no obligation to honor the U.S. sanctions, and in fact, is more likely to increase cooperation with the Russians as a result – especially in terms of the energy sector.

According to a report by the Global Times:

“The bill passed by the US House of Representatives, which targets Russian energy companies, banks, and individuals, is likely to reduce Russia’s share in the global energy market, especially in the US and EU. Beijing has no obligation to support US sanctions on Russia. Actually, China is likely to continue to tap the potential of cooperation with Russia in the area of energy…

“The energy sector is a strategic pillar of the Russian economy, which may take a new blow from the US sanctions. However, an economic breakdown in close proximity is not in line with the interests of China. If there is economic chaos in Russia, China may need to consider a financial bailout for Russia to help the country address its problems caused by the US sanctions. Economic chaos caused by the US sanctions is only a “worst-case scenario” with a very low probability. The political and economic realities of a multi-polar world have reduced US power over international affairs. The most likely outcome is that Russia will remain a superpower whose overall influence may wane but is never genuinely challenged.”

And perhaps most telling of all is the fact that attempting to cut Russia’s energy sector off from the allied west will likely only “expand the currency swap between the ruble and the yuan.”

The recent formation of a BRICS gold marketplace, which could be used to bypass the U.S. Petrodollar in bilateral trade, continues to take shape as Russia’s largest bank, state-owned Sberbank, announced in mid-July that its Swiss subsidiary had begun trading in gold on the Shanghai Gold Exchange.

Russian officials have repeatedly signaled that they plan to conduct transactions with China using gold as a means of marginalizing the power of the dollar in bilateral trade between the geopolitically powerful nations. This latest movement is quite simply the manifestation of a larger geopolitical game afoot between great powers – with the currently pending sanctions almost certain to increase the pace of this transition away from the U.S. petrodollar.

Furthermore, if Trump doesn’t veto the legislation, you can be assured that any possibility of rapprochement with Russia is history. On top of that, Russian president Vladimir Putin said Sunday 755 U.S. diplomats will be expelled from Russia by Sept. 1.

The Russian publication Kommersant is also reporting that if the sanctions are approved by Trump, retaliation will include:

  • The seizure of all diplomatic mansions

  • Banning of ALL US IT companies

  • Banning of all US agricultural products

  • Ending the exportation of titanium to Boeing (30% of their titanium comes from Russia)

Essentially, the U.S. is forcing the Russians and Chinese into a closer strategic alliance, and the latter’s only means of hedging against increasingly reckless U.S. actions, meant to undermine Eurasian integration and destabilize Russia in hopes of eventual regime change, is to vastly increase the economic, energy and security cooperation between their two states.

Likely seeing the writing on the wall, it can virtually assure that countries such as Germany and Turkey, two key hubs of Eurasian integration, will eventually turn towards the multipolar future of an integrated Europe and Asia – and away from the hegemonic dictates of the American Empire in the name of self-interest.

WATCH: Putin Hints JFK Was Murdered By The “Deep State” Says It’s Now Targeting Russia

putin

Former FOX News host, Megyn Kelly, debuted with rival NBC for “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly,” in a much-hyped interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who then flabbergasted the United States’ viewing audience by intimating the shadowy Deep State had indeed been responsible for JFK’s murder — and has now turned its sights on Russia.

“There is a theory that Kennedy’s assassination was arranged by the United States intelligence services,” Putin needled the host, as reported by Reuters, blithely referring to the Deep State. “So if this theory is correct, and that can’t be ruled out, then what could be easier in this day and age than using all the technical means at the disposal of the intelligence services and using those means to organize some attacks, and then pointing the finger at Russia.”

Largely contained to analysis and conjecture among right-leaning and independent media organizations, and posited by reputable former members of the U.S. Intelligence Community, that a covert, soft coup intending to oust Trump indeed appears to have been underway since the election cycle.

Corporate outlets with ties to the Democrat establishment — or both that and the CIA, in the case of the Washington Post — amplified America’s perpetual Russophobia once leaks fatal to the campaign Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee, John Podesta, and the Party starred in several massive publishings by Wikileaks.

As if a thunderclap from the blue, mainstream outlets abruptly parroted petulant Democratic officials, who shirked accountability for the contents of the leaks by, instead, preaching the ‘Russia did it!’ gospel in a singular chorus — it, being everything from ‘Russians hacked the election’ to ‘Russians compromised the electrical grid of Vermont,’ to every imaginable hyperbole in between.

Don’t grimace … but, maybe, just maybe, the Russian president is onto something.

First emphasizing there had been no contact between himself and former private citizen, Donald Trump, during the latter’s multiple business trips to Russia, Putin repeatedly rebuffed any suggestion Trump’s campaign or current administration officials had effected secretive communication via back or covert channels.

Putin, like Trump, has maintained the two never met face-to-face, and that any contact between officials in the new administration or former campaign and Russian officials would have been ordinary for business dealings — certainly not deserving of alarm or attention, as has been championed in the corporate press.

Nothing the one-hundred or so American business people present in Russia right now, Putin made a tongue-in-cheek jab at needlessly alarmist reactions to that connection, asking Kelly rhetorically,

“Do you think we’re gathering compromising information on all of them right now or something?” And, to U.S. officials and an implied, broad audience watching his interview from inside the U.S., Putin added, “Have you all lost your senses?”

Asked to discuss still unproven accusations proffered by intelligence officials as steel truth Moscow meddled in the U.S. election through propaganda and by hacking the emails of a cadre of Democrat officials to ensure the installation of Trump, the Russian president again balked.

Unsurprisingly, Putin excoriated the widely-criticized report emanating only in broken unison from the seventeen agencies comprising the Intelligence Community, saying the experts in espionage are lying.

“They have been misled,” Putin asserted of officials harpooning Russia as fully culpable for Clinton’s inglorious loss, “and they aren’t analyzing the information in its entirety. I haven’t seen, even once, any direct proof of Russian interference in the presidential election.”

Although putative digital fingerprints characteristic of Russia have ostensibly been found after several intelligence agencies investigated insinuations of interference, independent experts and analysts vary considerably in characterizing the data as proof of meddling.

“What fingerprints or hoof-prints or horn-prints — what are you talking about?” Putin scoffed.

Although powerful nation-states tend only to admit to influencing others’ elections on a superficial basis — which would indeed abide self-interest and logic — instances of blatant interference could not be deemed rare.

In fact, twenty-one years ago, TIME Magazine featured an exclusive detailing direct actions undertaken to ensure Russian President Boris Yeltsin would win re-election — an effort coordinated covertly by none other than … the United States.

Mudslinging and snarkiness lobbed between Washington and Moscow this time around — while perhaps the most groan-inducing international political theater in years — belies the umbral Deep State squabble otherwise apparent in headlines continually lambasting the Trump administration’s prior business contact list as unassailable evidence of treasonous guilt.

Spanning the gamut in plausibility, innumerable theories swear to shred the official account of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, but similarities existent in the vilification of JFK’s and the current administration’s by establishment die-hards verily beg to be examined by the American masses and press — both, tragically somnambulating vacuous accusations plucked from the stale landscape of regurgitated modern Red Scare McCarthyism.

Whether or not the Trump presidency will ultimately prove to be the Deep State’s perilous exercise in planned obsolescence remains to be seen, but President Putin’s now joins a mellifluous ensemble of ordinarily disparate voices — including Libertarian icon and former presidential candidate, Dr. Ron Paul — warning the handiwork of a clandestine operation is on display for anyone willing to look.

American Deep State or not, the laughably-unproven Russians Did It meme persists in gracing corporate media headlines as often as the lips of U.S. officials — despite the expiration date on believability having long since passed.
