Draining The Swamp – Part IX – AG Jeff Sessions Should Resign!

What is with Attorney General Sessions? First he recused himself from the investigation of the so-called Trump collusion with Russia, so Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as the Special Counsel for that investigation. Now, according to Breitbart:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told a small group of lawmakers in late September he was recused from appointing a special counsel to look into potential corruption surrounding the Uranium One deal and Fusion GPS’s work on the Trump dossier, according to one of the lawmakers present.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Breitbart News on Wednesday that he and other House Judiciary Committee Republicans had met with Sessions at the Justice Department on September 28 in advance of an upcoming committee hearing with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein later this month.

Gaetz said that when he asked Sessions to appoint a special counsel to investigate the 2010 Uranium One deal and Fusion GPS, the attorney general stood up, said he could not discuss the matter because he had recused himself, and walked out of the room, leaving them with a group of Rosenstein staffers “who showed no interest.”

Of what possible use is Jeff Sessions if he is going to recuse himself from every important investigation? None. By recusing himself, Sessions has, in effect, made Rosenstein the defacto Attorney General. Sorry, Jeff, but if you have so many conflicts of interest that you can’t do your job, then you should resign and let someone more capable do the job.

President Trump is not happy with Sessions, either. From Breitbart:

“A lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday morning before leaving for his trip to Asia.

Trump said that the Justice Department should be investigating Democrats and the Clintons, sharing several oberservations on Twitter.

“This is real collusion and dishonesty,” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday night, responding to Donna Brazile’s revelation that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was controlling DNC operations and fundraising well before winning her primary.

Mr. President, a lot of us join you in questioning Sessions. What has he been doing since taking office? Collecting his salary? We need an Attorney General who will actually do his job, not recuse himself. The Uranium One deal needs to be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted when there is enough evidence. Personally, I don’t doubt there will be the necessary evidence, but it first needs to be investigated. Either get off your duff, Jeff Sessions, and do your job, or resign so someone else can do it! The American people deserve no less!

Are you so wrapped up in conflicts of interest, or does the Deep State have something on you? Are you aiding in the coverup of the Uranium One deal? Are you afraid? Either way, you need to step down. Now! Let President Trump appoint someone who will not be afraid to thoroughly investigate and prosecute these cases.

The Swamp will be drained, whether you help, or not.
