Update: Police reported that the suspect had surrendered shortly before 3:30pm local time. They asked anyone with information to contact the police department. Hadfield revealed to the media that the shooter was armed with a handgun and was the only person on the bus before he surrendered. One person has died in a shooting during an ongoing standoff that has forced the partial closure of the Las Vegas strip after a gunman barricaded himself inside a bus.

The standoff began after a shooting was reported Saturday on Las Vegas Boulevard in the heart of the Strip near the Cosmopolitan hotel. According to AP, Las Vegas Boulevard is closed between Flamingo Road and Harmon Avenue. Police say they do not believe there are any other suspects.

University Medical Center spokeswoman Danita Cohen said two people were taken to the hospital after the Saturday shooting. She said one person has died and the other is in fair condition.
Police negotiators and tactical teams are on the scene. Police say they do not believe there are any other suspects and they believe the shooter is on the bus. Police say they do not believe there are any other suspects.
"We had one single shooting incident with two victims. Both were transported to the trauma center and one is deceased," Officer Larry Hadfield told USA Today.
