In a peaceful transfer of power, Donald J, Trump was officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America.
At 12:01 PM, on Jan. 20, 2017, the Obama Administration came to an end, and our new President took office. In his speech, which can be seen in its entirety here, President Trump emphasized securing our borders, rebuilding our infrastructure, and creating new jobs. He spoke of returning power to “We the People”, and “Making America Great Again”; recurring themes of his campaign.
Now, the anticipation is over, as Trump assumes the office the media pundits and liberals thought he would never win, but the American people decided differently, and today Donald J. Trump took office. It is now time for President Trump to do those things he promised. Rhetoric is nice, but actions are what “We the People” expect from him. We will support him when he fulfills his promises, and oppose him if he fails to deliver. It is that simple.
After eight years of Barack Obama, Donald Trump assuming the Presidency is a breath of much needed fresh air. That Barack Obama was a disaster is perhaps an understatement. Our hope is that Pres. Trump will reverse the course Obama set us on, all the while, respecting the Constitution, which is the Supreme Law of the Land. He swore the same Oath Barack Obama swore. Obama chose, frequently, to ignore that Oath, as do many of our elected officials. It is time “We the People” hold them all accountable, including President Donald J. Trump.
Today could mark a new beginning, which is what we seek, but it may be “more of the same”. I devoutly hope it is the former and not the latter.
