Government warns power surge directly following eclipse may knockout power grid, cell phones

(INTELLIHUB) — Now that more and more Americans are receiving their electricity via solar energy, government officials worry that the electrical grid may become overloaded from a surge of energy backfeeding into the U.S. grid directly following the solar eclipse as light from the sun reemerges and hitting solar.


Right now state utilities are planning to deal with the surge which is “capable of crippling the nation,” according to an ABC News report.



“Another issue has to do with cell phone usage […] your cell phones aren’t going to work — so they are actually bringing in cell phone towers,” an ABC News staffer reported.
