Violent campus stabbing ended with one dead

AUSTIN, Tex. (INTELLIHUB) — Several people were stabbed at the University of Texas, Austin campus Monday, ending with the death of one person who is presumably male.

The suspect reportedly walked up to a picnic table where various people were seated before pulling out a knife and stabbing at least two people near the Gregory Gymnasium.

UT Austin Police tweeted: “Unidentified suspect apprehended for stabbing two subjects and assaulting a one other. One of the victims died due to their wounds.”

Just after 3:30 p.m. UT Austin Police tweeted: “Subject is in custody and there is no ongoing threat to the campus community. We’ll provide new details as they unfold.”

A witness named Rachel P. saw the suspect, a male, standing with a long Bowie knife while waiting at the lunch truck when the suspect grabbed a guy by the shoulder and stabbed him.

“He was just walking around very calmly,” the eyewitness said.
